This is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to see which stimulant helps with GAD and social anxiety. Learned a lot more than I expected. Thank you for your detailed analysis
This is a very detailed report I use dexmethylphenidate and while it may not be as effective or euphoric it still does make a big difference in everyday life and I recommend it to people who want a safe stimulant that’s not gonna lead to any erratic behaviors.
Thanks for the video. In the diagnosis of ADHD, one problem is that the criteria used in the some diagnostic manuals unfortunately describe signs as "symptoms". Medically, symptoms are subjective, whereas signs are objective or can be seen from the "outside". Also, many key aspects of ADHD, such as emotional dysregulation, are not even given attention (no pun intended) in the DSM-V, etc. But these are, in fact, true symptoms, and they can't always be observed by an outsider; the doctor has to take the patient at their word e.g. "I am experiencing a deep feeling of rejection because of what somebody just said to me before this appointment. Now my emotions are all over the place". I think the diagnostic manuals today are mostly aimed at diagnosing children, not adults. You aren't going to see many adults jumping on top of tables during a work meeting. Instead, the hyperactivity is usually more of an inward experience. It's sad that the main diagnostic manuals are so aloof as to how ADHD truly manifests in real life.
Thank you so much for including the cultural history and resulting policy decisions, admitting to bias in prescribing practices tells me how very thoughtful your conclusions and recommendations are, simply a fantastic presentation here for the layperson to understand better, and thereby give better feedback to care providers. I’ll surely tax the patience of my psychiatrist, I refuse the phoning it in approach to medical practice as I suffered a psychotic break from a wrong mix. I simply need to fully understand, or I’m not putting it in my body. Kindest regards doc, you’re awesome.
Thank you! I’ve been looking for information comparing methylphenidate vs amphetamine for a couple of years. I am a late middle aged adult female who has definitely had ADHD (yes little girls can be hyper active!) since early childhood. I am meeting with my psychiatrist this afternoon and I definitely want to explore switching to a Ritalin type product.
I think amphetamines are a problem for me...methy i was much happier and productive...amps i became a miserable sob addict. Problem is if they gave me the option today..I'm go with amps!! :)

This is what a doctor should do. People should be selected and trained to practice like Dr. Aiken.
This was fantastic. Exactly the kind of information I was looking for but is so hard to find. Thank you!

Ritaline is like adderral, but without the smile.
The quality-of-life improvements I've got from methylphenidate certainly makes me smile.
@@ToveriJuri4 days in, life changing. Not sure what more you could want and I’m only on 1/4 the dose
This looks biased. Where are the studies ?
