Eric Burdon, vocals, only 23, 1964. Don't let me be misunderstood, is also great. House of. ...... Is an old trad. Probably seventeen hundreds. THE Animals improved it!! On THE record they made it in One take! Alan Price keyboards left cause Fear of Flying. Amazing talent!! Eric Burdon vocals Still going string! Saw him kast year Spill THE Wine, Burdon and War!!
This was technically a music video....although it was made as a promo (16 years prior to MTV)....Eric Burdon is the lead singer. It is really cool to hear a British person singing an old bluesy American song that was created 30 years prior.....they take it and improved it.
It's great to see your appreciation for this classic song. The song was recorder on On May 18th, 1964. At De Lane Lee Studios in Soho England. In the studio, The Animals set up their instruments. After a brief recording level check on the instruments and vocals. The Animals were recorded live. On a 4 track reel to reel tape machine. Using 1/4 inch analog tape. This will blow your mind Serg The Animals nailed the song, , on the bands one and only take!!! That's all it took. They were in and out of the studio in less than 30 minutes. Talent? I would say so. I really enjoyed your reaction and best of luck with your channel. RNB
A landmark recording The great visuals are from a UK colour movie film Pop Gear filmed in 64 released in 65. US re titled as Go Go Mania. No colour TV in UK in 64 and no audience in this. Film gave the great image quality, but dubbed sound was what audiences wanted to be like the record. Simpler too. Clips of Pop Gear on UA-cam. Lots. A search will reward. Intro by same dodgy TV UK host who when he died his family pulled the headstone down, such was his depravity.
I don't think the video is simple. Especially for 1964. They are not performing live (no cables in the guitars etc.) And they're walking like a funeral procession, the drum and keyboard are changing places I think and the camera work is pretty complex for the time... ;-) just my opinion. I think it's a great TV production for the time!
This is one of the best descriptions I've read of the TV production itself. It's exactly like a funeral procession which is a brilliant stage concept bc it adds such an unconscious sombre mood to the proceedings. The colour scheme & use of light of shadows is wonderful, compliments their yellow shirts and the grey suits suit the mood and doesn't distract. Their staging (staggered opening positions) and alternating macro close-ups, medium shots & wide shots is wonderfully effective & clearly well-thought out. A lot of thought was put into this production, including having only the lead look into the camera until the end, making that the groups final eye contact unexpected & eerie. Great video production for 1964, and easy to overlook how much thought was put into this. Their appealing geometry& appropriate aesthetics, staging, deliberate mood & camera angles didn't happen on their own!
This clip was filmed in 1964 or 65 as part of a UK colour film called Pop Gear for paying theatre release. This explains the early high quality color images we luckily have for this mimed from the record performance and also a few other top UK only music artists from when the film was made. UA-cam has quite a few segments from this UK movie Pop Gear with the US contribution being to re title it Go Go Mania and add a few intro segments to satisfy the US audience. A UA-cam search for Pop Gear Go Go Mania shows the segments : ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=pop+gear+go+go+mania The intro by TCM explains the background of the film. While some of these segments were likely to be shown on US Colour TV much later , the source would originally be this high quality film. Rising Sun is the standout, but the Honeycombs with Have I the Right is a landmark too, In 1964 images not recorded on film would be much lower quality videotape, not the notable quality images used here. Especially with the inferior US NTSC standards often called Never The Same Colour. So lucky the film was made instead of relying on low standard video tape recordings that were usually taped over anyway to save tape cost money or made by filming a TV screen with poor quality results. I would be amazed to see any video recording from 1964 up to this standard of image quality. A better sound source can easily replace or lesser quality film track early source in UA-cam postings these days. These films mainly used mimed performances as the vast majority of theatre audiences wanted to hear the music performance as they knew it from the records. Hope this helps people who have the colorized and vidoetape theories that usually pop up.
hi Serg, like your reaction , especially to the keyboard player, i watch hundred or more reaction videos every week and you are one of the rare one to appreciate the keyboard player, check out the Inkspots singing ' if i did'nt care' , ciao 4 now

Hmm Classics, I'm gonna assume you're hispanic and play some sheet. How about Hotel California by the Eagles and Smooth by Santana and Rob Thomas, hell any Santana, if you are Chicano then you gotta know one of the best guitarists ever, mister Carlos Santana. Smooth, and Black Magic Woman.
What’s wonderful about this song is it’s so unique and it has elements of southern gothic horror and the talent is incredible.

This was done in one take, cost them 10 dollars and sold over 1 million copies. 3 weeks on charts. The drummer discovered Jimmy Hendricks🤯
