Cool thing about propane is that it doesn't really go bad. Best to keep a couple of full propane cylinders handy and fetch some fresh gas if it's going to run a while. I like premium since gasoline loses octane over time. The more load, the more fuel you'll be going through. Keep the generator outside and away from open windows. Carbon monoxide can creep up on you.
I just hope you guys have no problems with your generator. I have one too bought it in 2020 and it’s starting to fail and Westinghouse has absolutely the worst consumer warranty service I’ve ever seen in my life. You get a number and they never call you back. Good luck, great generator when it runs
I have the same generator. Came in handy when in NE Ohio we were hit with a very bad storm on 8/6 and we were without power and internet for four days. I have only run ethanol free 90 octane fuel in it. As I do with all of my power equipment for the yard. My generator won't start unless I give it a tiny squirt of starting fluid. The automatic choke is operating. I bought it new. It won't run my AC. 74amps in rush. I will be installing a Micro-Air Easy Start unit soon.
Mine was purchased 9/25/24, broke it in properly according to the manual and it ran well during the Hurricane Milton power outage(2 1/2 days) on gasoline. 3 days later tried to start it to warm it up to change oil and it would not start. Started a case # online and 2 weeks later no response. 9 phone calls between then and today (Nov 13) and no response even tho the tier 1 level person (not a techie) escalated each time and promised a call back each time. They even had the gaul on one call to promise me that if I hang up they will remember my place in line (#7) and call me; they did not call. I absolutely cannot get ANY warranty coverage from Westinghouse on this brand new generator.

I tried hooking up power, and the LED readout was going wonky. Westinghouse said it sounded like the AVR. They JUST sent it out. I'm curious if you or anyone else had this problem.
Few different ways. 1. Check your service provider - often they have an app and you can check service status from your phone. 2. Check your neighbors who don't have a generator, see lights on - it's time to switch back. 3. You can switch over to your provider and if lights work - you know you. have power. 4. I'd imagine you could check the status at your meter (depending on equipment)
How loud is it? I have a one car garage not attached if I let the generator run inside the garage with the window open and door open would that prevent the carbon monoxide sensor from being triggered? If I have use the generator I don’t wanna bug the neighbors lol
Loud is subjective. But yes, this one isn't noted for being quiet. Having said that, I'm not using it camping or in situations like that. Always be careful running it in any closed area, I wouldn't suggest.

We got it off of Amazon. Just searched for interlock, and the brand of the panel. Look closely to be sure it's the same panel, lots of different ones out there.

It tried to crank but won’t start- it’s brand new- charged the battery overnight so I think it’s good. It’s got a couple gallons of fuel .. ?? are there any steps in set-up I’m missing??
@@John19182004 The 1st time you start the unit, it will crank a number of cycles to get the fuel into the system. Make sure the fuel valve on the left side is open as well.

Power went out today. My wgen9500 DF initially ran the AC but now it won’t; it trips every time I try. Really disappointed in this unit. Won’t do the one thing I need it to do and it’s 105 degrees outside.
9500 watts equals 17 gallons of gasoline or 3 1/2 five gallon cans or five 20 lb propane tanks a day. Most people think 3 cans of gasoline or 5 bottles of propane is a lot of fuel. What would you do for day two of a power outage? I have 18,000 watts of battery back up or enough for one day but I can charge up my batteries with one of my Tri fuel small generstors in just 4 hours and just over one gallon gallon of gasoline or equivalent natural gas. And I have never been without natural gas. Next year I am installing solar to charge my batteries and save on my electric bill. This is cheap insurance that willl actuall pay for itself in 10 years.

Main is major , it on with generator back feeding it will severely hurt a lineman, the lock out is brilliant for that reason, nice video be safe

I had my backup power system installed by a professional electrician. Works great. Using the same generator.
Great to see a Dad/Son video. The engine and carburetor will stay cleaner with ethanol free gas. That’ll keep the gas from gumming up in the machine.

When your AC or fridges cycle there is a 'surge' of energy needed at that startup. The peak wattage will be for those temporary surges.

It's loud. My 9500df does not have the CO shutoff.

I did not make any changes to the generator.

Why are the connections so low to the ground ? In case of a flood....😳
It's over 16" off the ground. If I have a flood that close to my home I've got bigger problems.

Thx- I’ve tried 9-10 times. No dice. Tried propane- started right up! So obviously a fuel line issue; yes I’ve verified the fuel selector is on lol

Honestly - I think that will greatly depend on what type of load you're running. It's going to be subjective.
