I used your TWE affiliate link to buy an 2022 ezone 98 the other day. Really loving the racquet. Thanks for the content. Appreciate your work. Great channel.
Great review. The only thing I worry about is how arm friendly it is? It should be stiffer I guess… Btw your ground strokes are beasts! As well as valleys! Keep doing 👍🏼
Update: demoed with multis. No shoulder pain. Definitely some more power on the new ezone. Played similar to the old one. Slightly stiffer but more stable. Backhand better on this edition. Great racquet but will stick to my 2019 ezone because of the similarities and has less power. My new racquet set up with the 2019 version has been a god send with control and feel. But give this new version a demo. It’s a great racquet! Old review: I just demoed the racquet with poly strings. I currently own the last model with lead tape at 3 and 9 with a multi/poly set up. The demo felt pretty stable and also better on my backhand side. It did feel a little more controllable. The only thing is that I’ve always had shoulder problems and after hard hitting I started to feel it in my shoulder. I’ve had no problems with the previous version with my shoulder. It could be the poly strings though. Will demo another time with multi.
Just curious how do you know the new version has more control and not just the string you tried in it that you also said had more control. It would be a major improvement of an already very popular racket if this version has more power, stiffness, thicker beam and more control
Hi Jonas, Can you tell us how this racquet plays in comparison to the Head Extreme Tour (Especially in terms of comfort, control and free power). I'm curious because I noticed their specs were quite similar.
Absolutely! the 2020 yonex frames are def at least 1 size larger than other racquets. I think grip sizes in general have increased just slightly across all frames
Cheers for the great reviews. Please keep them coming. So I’m on the hunt for a new racket and have narrowed it down to two. Interestingly enough it’s between the pure aero vs that you purchased recently, and now this 2022 ezone 98. Would love to get your thoughts as you’ve now used both. My one handed backhand is my weapon. Struggle with consistency on my forehand. Trying to get more spin in that stroke. Would love to hear your thoughts when you can. Cheers, Donald
Wow, you're playing really good with this racket! I have the impression that you play much more aggressive and accurate than on any other video before. Do you also have this impression?
I had the Ai98 a few years ago, thought it was ok but no aspect really stood out for me. Have the more recent versions significantly improved enough to warrant revisiting this frame?
I think my DR is the best racquet around (after my beloved Pro Staff 6.0 95s (but I'm too old to use them effectively anymore). If this new Ezone is like the DR then I'm getting in the queue! I have an Ai but not used it for a while. The version after the DR didn't quite do it for me, and the 'current' 2019 model seems a tad too stiff. But then I'm just a racquet magpie and I like shiny things. The Strike VS is out next year . . . . and a new VCore 95 can't be too far away. Dammit.
@@NickJ2473 I have 6 DR98. I rotate them, 2-2-2 and hope they will hold until Yonex releases a DR clone, not a Pure Strike one. Nothing comes close to the feeling and feedback I get from the DR. I string them with Alu Power 1.28 at 58-60.
@@thefridgeman I switched from the Pro Staff and Luxilon Big Banger as had arm issues as I got older. Found the DR and PTP just the right level of 'mushy' that i was looking for!
I would buy 6 or 8 imediately. Heck, I even wrote at the end of 2019 to Yonex Japan, asking them to re-release the DR, vouching to buy 10 on the spot :D
I never understood the appeal of the DR98. It lacked the control and feel of a player's frame and didn't have the power of a tweener frame like the Pure Drive. The worst of all worlds.
@@thefridgeman I had it a couple of months and strung it with poly strings at about 45 lbs. I put lead tape at 3 and 9 to try to give it more power. My current racquet is the Wilson Pro Staff 97 V13 (non RF version). I put 20g of silicone in the handle and a tiny bit of lead at 12. With string, it weighs 360g and is about 10 points headlight. This gives it plenty of power while keeping it very maneuverable. With the added weight in the handle, it may well be the best racquet I've ever owned.
I have a pro staff 97 (v11) and I think I'm getting too old for it. I'm thinking of demo/switching to this new EZONE or the new blade (v8). About a 4.0 player and use solinco hyper g (18 guage, 48 lbs). Would appreciate all of your thoughts... Thank you in advance
I am new to tennis and I have tried a few of the rackets to test which suits me. I came across 'yonex graphlex ti lite' as old as from 1990. I felt that racket best suited my playing style. The firmness. stability, power. I loved it. Then when I decided to buy I could not find that in market now. I am now confused that whic current yonex racket is similar or same as that. Please helo me with this because I don't want to buy racket which does not give me that confidence.
I would like to ask, it's more arm friendly than 2020? I had issues with Ez 98 2020 string 44 pounds hybrid. and having a one handed backhand, it's dificult to find a good raquet.
For a player who likes to mix shots and strategies depending on the match. Hits a little flatter than topsin and one handed backhand, what would you recommend ?? Head radical mp or Yonex Ezone 98??
New Ezone 98 of 2022 is better, different and more confortable that Ezone98 of 2020 or they are similar? I was playing with VcorePro100 of 2017 and i will change of model.
Just saw your head boom pro videos before this one and I must say I prefer to see you hit with this ezone. Seems that with this racquet your are always in control of your shots. Doesn’t look that way with the boom.
You seemed to be hitting groundies pretty well. I never thought it was solid enough for advanced play. Will stick with the VCP 97HD. Thanks for the review; glad your weather is better. Brutally cold here in SoCal. Going to be 4C Saturday at sunrise when I get to hit the courts.
Why do u bring racket up so high in ur forehand set up . U bring it up a mile high then take it down all the way . Just take it down all the way from the start . No need to bring it up at all
love the paint on this new version
This maybe the most quality ball I've ever seen you hit consistently. Spin, pace, depth. Cheers.

Ive watched a lot of your videos and this is one of the best ive ever seen you hit. You should definitely make the switch to this racquet.
A new one already??? Cool and sexy looking racquet :) Compared to the Vcore Pro 97 310 which racquet did you prefer and why?
I love my ezone 98 2020…I can’t wait to try this one despite being pretty fine tuned around my 2020s. Thx for the review.
Great frame..... I can't find another one 😢
Hi Jonás, how would you compare this racquet to 2021 Head Radical MP or Blade v8?
How does it feel on the one-handed backhand, compared to the vcore 98 for example?
Thanks for the great review. Would be interested in any comparison to TFlight 300 RS, specs looks very close.
Great review. The only thing I worry about is how arm friendly it is? It should be stiffer I guess…

have this and a blade v9 100. Both are best rackets ive ever owned. this ezone has tremendous accuracy for me and more power than the blade.

I bet the more control he feels has to do with the underspec racquet he got. I mean 308 swingweight strung is super low

Does the grip size run large on these? The 2020 version had a bigger than normal pallet size, whereas 2018 was comparable to Wilson, Babolat etc

Hello Nice review as always.
I had arm issues with the previous model. Have you heard of similar problems with this model?
I played the DR 98 and this one, DR remains softer however if you add 5 grams to this version it plays even better
Wow your footwork looks a lot better! Gliding much lower along the court keeping a nice wide stance.
Please compare Ezone 98 to Pure Aero 98
Hard to focus on what you are saying with the grand slam quality match in the background
Ugh was hoping the static weight would be higher this time. They should just re-release the DR98 with a different paintjob.

Swingweight variance due to balance issues is one thing that Yonex gets a bit wrong.
