Solution: I solved this issue in my 2017 Next Gen Compass Limited (same as 2018) by replacing the auxiliary battery (AUX 14 400 200 CCA). The dealership wanted $250 (shocker) so I just bought the battery myself. It is available for $100-$115 depending on the store and there is no core charge. It took about 20 minutes in all to swap it out. You'll need 13 mm deep socket to remove the hold down bracket, 10 mm for the others. You will also need a 4mm to remove the old battery's posts. Don't chuck the dead battery before adding the posts to the new battery. Remember to remove the negative on the main battery and try to avoid metal contact on all the posts while you're working, to avoid any sparks. Evidently, when you deactivate the auto start/stop frequently like we've done the past 3 years, the battery doesn't have an opportunity to get charged by the alternator and eventually fails. This also affected our remote start in the wintertime. Hope this helps others. Good luck!
Did the car not click or anything when you tried starting it? I'm having that problem right now, I press the ignition and get 1 click and no turning over.
Apparently the jeep compass has a mode it can get into if you press the start button to shut off the engine, but you forget to have your foot on the brake pedal. When this occurs the engine will shut off, but the display and things like the ac will continue to run as though its on, but the engine is off. If you later go to start the engine and do what your supposed to do, press the brake pedal and then press the start button, IT WILL NOT START. No matter how many times to press the brake pedal and push the start button, IT WILL NOT START. At this point you will be ready to scream!!!!!!!!! However, the fix is very simple, STUPID but simple. For whatever reason you simply need to press the start button, but DON'T press the brake pedal. When you do this the display and AC will turn off. At this point you have now gotten it out of the never never land mode. Now you can press the brake pedal and press the start button and the sucker will start and you'll be on your way. So in summary NEVER shut off the engine when the brake pedal is not pressed. If you do and the engine is off, but the display is still on and things like the AC are still running, simply press the start button (NO BRAKE PEDAL) to completely shut off the vehicle. Once everything is off and your out of this STUPID mode, you can start the vehicle as normal. DUMB yes, but effective.
You are a genius! Thank you so much for your reply as my husband was stranded this morning and couldn’t figure out why his Jeep Compass would not start! Again, thank you so much for taking the time to comment on this! You f’ing ROCK!!
@@hazyshadeofoctober Thanks Molly, glad to hear! Its a shame this condition occurs, but at least there is a way to deal with it. I can only imagine how many people get stuck in this situation with no way out. Someone out in the wilderness, in snow conditions could really get in trouble. Its just wrong.
Had this issue a month ago, they couldn't find anything wrong. Happened again yesterday! Back at the dealer, have contacted Jeep for the 2nd time. Glad(sorry you're all having problems) to hear other people are having the same problem, I'm not crazy!
they updated everything the last time(june) was running fine until today! It did it again! This is ridiculous!Anybody have any luck solving this issue?
Solution Found. 2018 compass having similar issues. Changed the process of getting it started. First push start button to let gauges cycle tru the start process, then after 1-2 seconds press brake then push start. It works!!! It used to work with just hitting the brake then start but it started to fail again and again. Reading everyone’s answers helped to to discover this I hope it helps someone
Is this solution good for when the parking brake won't disengage? Like in this video. So many answers but this happened to me twice. Wouldn't start, but people are saying it's happening while driving.
Had a 2018 Compass that did the same exact thing (and other electrical gremlins). Bought end of 2017. Countless trips to the dealer, and the car stranded me twice (towed to the dealer). Dealer service dept did everything they could to troubleshoot, but mechanically the car was fine. The case got escalated several times with FCA, at which point it got handed off to a 3rd party that they have manage their cases. Was nothing but a nightmare from then on. Needless to say they never figured it out. From what we could tell it was cold weather related as it only acted up when it dropped to freezing. Most likely some kind of pin connector losing tension so the various modules in the car thought they weren't working. At one point I was at highway speed and the ABS, airbags, power steering, 4WD, etc. all stopped working. After a lot of fighting we were able to get out of the car. Good riddance. My family's been lifelong Chrysler product owners. We're done after this. Best of luck to anyone duking it out with FCA with this. It's clearly a widespread issue. If they're telling you they never heard of issues like this, they're lying. They'll fight a war of attrition with you until you give up. Honestly I think that's the way all automakers are now. Big business.
Thank you for posting your experience. Your sharing has helped me tremendously. Customer care has blown me off for a week. I am now in the process of sending a certified letter to FCA and will apply for Lemon Law . I want a full refund for the car. Taking it one step at a time. It is not the battery. I am moving on with the process, FCA can move on with me or not..
The problem is the Auxiliary battery. Little expensive battery (100+). If the battery goes bad, the car believes it is dying. I think that battery is the "brain freeze" nerve in the car. Easy to replace.
Note to anybody reading this. Had thee exact same issue in a 2018 compass. Car acted like it was on. All interior lights worked, headlights, ac everything worked. Car clicked on ignition and then nothing. Hooked the battery up to the charger and it said 80% charge. Charged it to full and tried starting the car and it fired right up.
Some times if you put the car in gear before it fully starts up you’ll have all sorts of issues. To fix it you have to lock the door and unlock it again to get it to start up
This just happened to me; exact same issue, with even the message about the emergency brake. Car just hit 30K miles, had it for 3 years - its a 2018. Turned out to be that both batteries needed to be replaced, but to be honest, I think the aux battery (the small one, next to the main battery, towards the front of the car) was the one that was really causing it not to start. Found out later, that thing is vital to the start/stop system , which is all about the Electronic Throttle Control and a couple other stuff. Replaced both and we were good to go. Amazing.
same here. Both batteries needed to be replaced. Not the most brilliant design I've seen, selling my Jeep after this issue and the touch screen issues. Never buying Jeep again, very sad
Same! I own a 2018 Compass; purchased 7 months ago. This is the second time this has happened to me. The first time it resolved in about 7 minutes. But the car has been sitting now for 3 hours and won't turn over.
I just bought my jeep compass about 5 months ago and it wont start. horn wont work, no lights and even the key wont work to open the door. I have to open it manually. is it the battery or something is wrong with the car unit since ive read here in the comments that it happened to their car also.
Test your batteries and replace both at the same time if necessary. It’s a hassle to get them out but with the right tools it’s possible. Also make sure your getting the right battery for the start/stop feature.
I have a 2018 jeep compass. Mine wouldn't start either. These new jeeps have the start/stop feature, so they require 2 batteries. One is the regular battery which is why all the lights work. And the other battery operates the start/stop system. The auxiliary battery is located next to the main battery in front of it. I replaced the battery and my jeep cranked right up. I did find a replacement battery at O'Reilly's auto parts for $107. Initially I went Autozone and they checked the battery and found it was bad. So the the guy had a motorcycle battery he wanted to sell me. I wasn't going to take any chances with electrical system. So I went to O'Reilly's and they had an exact match. I hope this helps.
@@michaelroberts1904 thank you, my daughter is a nurse, she had the same thing happen to her car after a long shift. your video really helped me fix her car. I think if the car is used for short trips with lots of stop signs and lights, i don't think the battery charges enough and runs into the situation you described after its shut off. I recommend disabling the auto-start for such trips so the battery charges. FCA will need to address this problem.
Hi, sorry to see this. We have a 2013 compass and have similar issues. I try to start it, and every single light on the dash comes on and I get a click, click, click sound, but never tries to start. We took it to the dealer, and they said it would cost us $900 dollars to Lake Norman Chrysler dealer in Cornelius, NC to replace the starter, because they said they think that might be it, but gave me no assurance. I said go pound salt. I took it to a local garage, and they did change the starter for $365. But that was after 4 days at the Chrysler dealership, and $390 car rental fee. Now after I paid the Chrysler dealer $165 diagnostic fee, rental and starter, I am in for $900. Pretty darn exciting. Now it is happening again, and by the way, the clock resets to 12:00 every time it does this, but Chrysler doesn't think it is electrical. How Naive. SELL, SELL, SELL!!!
Similar issues and recently my rear cam randomly goes black or comes on but skips and freezes. At this point I trust my 2009 Yaris to not leave me stranded. I don't feel like I can trust my Jeep now. Gonna see about getting the battery replaced.
Happened to me last night on a rental Compass with 20k miles on it. Temperature on the mid 30s... If it happens again will try the fix posted below, but what is really messed up is the fact that the car thinks it is ON.... you are able to move the shifter to N (or D) and the car will roll down a hill if you are parked on one, with very little braking power. This is an un safe situation. Also a few days ago the car briefly stalled for a couple of seconds, when making a sharp right turn... Im staying away from Jeeps in the future.
Have a 2017 Compass High Altitude having same issue starts intermittently, does not have push start. Vehicle has been to dealership to 5 times for repair and they can't resolve the issue after changing several items from the starter to the transmission range sensor. Currently has 20k miles on it and started happening in Feb 2018 purchased new in CA currently in NC.
When you hit button alone it only turns on the ACC power which is stereo and accessories. The dash should say “on” to turn that off push button again. Just like opening your key. Then you can turn the car on by holding brake and pushing button and holding them at same time. To turn off it’s same. We had the same happened to our 2019 compass. It could be frustrating but if we could figure out these iPhones cars are the same too. We just need to get familiar with them.
Hi Marcelo, I did have my foot on the brake both times with my car. I wish it was so simple to fix. My car had to be taken on a flatbed the second time it happened. Some of these 2018 Jeep Compasses are difficult for even the Jeep mechanics to repair.
First I took my daughters 2019 to the dealer ship , had to pay like 160 for a diagnostic they said it was both batteries and gave a 600 estimate , ok make story short we replaced both batteries , and still the problem is there really 2 batteries
I have a 2019 Jeep Compass with start&stop system, I changed the batteries and upgrade with aux 12AH 200 CCA and 12V 60AH 660 CCA. when trying to start the car, it did not start, only one click was heard. I think blew a fuse.
I have been having the same issues. Brand new, 1k miles on it (also in NY) and sometimes it doesn't fully start. I don't have issues with the parking break or lights but not sure what's going on with it!
I have this issue every time I get gas now. Recently started. Turning off completely (foot off brake and push button) then turn on gets it started after a few minutes. Did you ever find a fix? I've put just over 1000 miles on my 2019 so far....
We have a 2017 with same issue.... it happened in cold and hot weather.... jeep says they haven’t heard of issue... we took valet key and pushed dash button with key and car started
lmao but my 1999 Jeep cherokee XJ started up today in 7°, and has started up right away in -10°. Shows how great the old 4.0 i6 is. and how great key ignition is.
I’ve had my 2018 for six years, less than 17k miles, and it’s started to have issues, many like those listed here. A couple weeks ago I shut the jeep off and all the windows came down. The radio is a mess. The central display is fogged over, and last week it wouldn’t start, even though all dash lights were on. Wouldn’t recognize either Fob either. The immobilizer icon was light on the dash too. I think there is far more going on than just the battery. It’s at the dealership now, I had to have it towed. When the tow driver opened the door the alarm sounded, but he got it to start with the Fob. The dealership person said the Fob battery was upside down, which is odd because the once dead car started! Once they get it running and back to me its first trip will be to trade it for a different car. It’s too bad too, as my other car, a 2000 Jeep with 148k is still going fine
I have a 2017 Jeep compass, does not have push button start, has intermittent start problem i.e. starter doesn't always come on to start engine. Very intermittent but seems to happen above 70 °. Was fine all winter but started doing this last fall. Drives me crazy. Took to dealer, no bulletins on it, dealer did not want to waste my time and money trying to trouble shoot. I can't believe nobody else ever had this problem? Also seems like problem is related to security system because I open and close all doors and sometimes this seems to help. It was fine for 6 mos then we got hot weather yesterdat and the damn tbing would not turn over on 3 different times in one day. No pattern, therefore hard to troubleshoot. Had it checked for popping codes, nothing showed up on scan. Otherwise, I love the vehicle. Any suggestions?
it did not work for me. I have a jeep compass2019. It will not turn on or turn off. It says the gear is not in park but it is in park.. so I had to disconnect the battery in order to turn car off. What is wrong with it???
@@Cliss91 yes...I troubleshooted and the problem was the battery. Check on the cluster the battery power and it should not be lower than 12 when the car is off. You can try to jump it but you might as well replace the battery.Mine was 8..Removing the battery is a bit complicated but you can do it. The negative side is easy to remove but the positive you have to take the 2 small screws that attach a red strip of plastic on top of the battery then plull up the positive connection with all that is attached to it, then it has a secured belt that you need to unscrew on the bottom left then you are able to remove it. Hope this helped. Believe it or not I buy my batteries from Wallmart they are really good !!
I had a 2014 Dodge Dart and the car did the same thing. I started it up at 8am in Texas which isn’t cold and would not start waited 30mins and it came back on. A few weeks later I was driving on the road on a merging lane and car just died in the middle of the road and it had the same problem wouldn’t start. Click the start button few times and it came back on. This problem went on for a few weeks before I took it to dodge. They said couldn’t find the problem but if you check Dodge Dart forums many dart owners had this problem. I thinks it’s the 2.4L engine, it’s not a good engine at all. Hopefully this helps with your research on what’s the problem
Hi i am in NY and had the Jeep Compass 2018 for 1 week and this happened. Break petal was stuck & the start button wasn’t working. Please. Has anyone resolved this????
I have a 2017 Jeep Compass it doesn’t want to work. when I push the start button nothing is happening n also the breaks are hard to push down. The E break is on n doesn’t want to turn off.
This happened to me twice this week and caused me to lose my job apparently it’s a problem with a secondary battery being low on juice... I was on my way to work and the car suddenly locked up on. I still had full power in the car but my parking brake came on, the steering wheel AND THE PEDALS locked. I was able to turn the car off, get the parking brake off then start the car back up. But it was running really bad... I put 2 bottles of oil in it thinking it was the oil and it ran fine. I get up this morning and it won’t start again. Pedals also locking up again and then it finally started. Chose not to go into work judging the fact that it can die in the middle of driving and possibly not start back up....
My new 2018 Jeep Compass Limited has left me stranded twice. First time with about 240 miles on it and the second time just the other day with about 3600 miles. I now have a case file with FCA and the car is at the dealer all this weekend. Does anyone know how to fix this? First time the car did start after about half an hour and I was able to drive it to the dealer, second time took a ride on the flatbed . Two times now at the dealer...Like Elizabeth said, my brake pedal was also stuck the second time..Was even difficult to get on the flatbed..I so regret buying this car. I am hoping the dealer can remedy this..
We just bought this car on monday and it's back to the dealer . They don't know what's wrong with . I haven't even driven it. It has less than 20 miles...
Nick Bolea, I am having the same exact problem with my Jeep Compass 2019 Limited edition 1 day after I leased the car (January 19, 2019). I continue to have this problem intermittently. I have brought it back to the dealer 3 times and they have found no issues. I am at my wits end. I never know when I am not going to be able to start this car. Have you solved the problem? Please advise.
Patricia Landi , Hi ... did you get your problem worked out? I just left mine 2019 Compass at the dealer today and they said they wanted to take their time and work with it and report to FCA. They said could take a couple of weeks. Ugh!
Ugh!! This is happening to me right now!!! I have a 2018 Jeep Compass Limited and same thing! Everything comes on but the engine. It keeps saying “Service Parking Brake” and mine does the same thing when I try to turn it off, nothing. So frustrating!! Then it says the key fob can’t be detected. So I put a new battery in the key fob and it’s still saying it can’t be detected. WTF?! I can’t wait to get rid of this stupid car!! I will never buy Jeep again 🤬 Tried calling the service dept 4 times now and no answer, left 2 messages. Can’t drive it anywhere. Won’t start!!! What the hell?!
@@thenarrowroad6731 Hey, my 2017 compass was doing the same thing. I took it to the dealership hesitantly cause you know. Anyway it ended up being the 40amp fuse for the trailer tow module. I also got a new battery because the main one couldn’t recover. Also my odometer was flashing which was solved by replacing that fuse. S
Hi Mike, Yes! That is what my mechanic is stating. He just is unable to find out what is causing the battery to lose charge. FCA customer care told me there are software that run even with the car turned off. Geeze....
I read all your comments just to find out what shall i do if happen again, for now i can not turn it off only when back to home, main its jeep compass 2018, so please if any one have a solution for the same problem in this video
I had this exact problem with my 2017 Compass yesterday. I had noticed it wasn't always starting on the very first try a few times recently, but yesterday when I pushed the start button absolutely nothing happened, just like your video. Then, intermittently, it was also turning over but not starting. After turning over few about 15 seconds, it would then show "RUN", like yours thinking it was on. Then next attempt, pushing the ignition would do nothing. Then it would turn over but not start > "RUN". This went on for about 15-20 minutes while I am supposed to be going to a job interview 50 miles away. I am totally sure it's not battery related as like you I had not left lights on or anything, and lights and all other electrical features were working fine. I did not have the issue with the parking brake, but maybe just didn't notice. Eventually, after 20 minutes of trying the car DID start up but I had to turn it over for 10-15 seconds before the engine fired up. It's never done that before either, so it's almost like more than one problem, i.e. not turning over, then turning over but not starting (I guess this could all be electrical). I made it my job interview in the nick of time. Came out and had the same issue getting home although it didn't take as long to start. Had planned to stop on the way back but didn't dare. I'm about to go out and try to drive it now. It's been very wet where I live over the past few days, but not cold. Not sure if that could be related -- if you've found out any more about the cause of this problem please share. I'll do the same. Thanks!
I have a 2018 Jeep Compass that I bought about a year ago. This same thing has now happened to me twice in a week. I have not yet taken it to a dealer. I'm assuming since it's not throwing a code, they won't be able to find anything wrong.
I’m experiencing this now with my 2018 Cherokee... I took it to autozone to check the battery they said it was bad but I really don’t know so. I had to get jumped off twice for mine to start again.
Hi bro I have a compass When I start it from the remote control It's work but after 5 seconds it's turnoff , This words come ((Remote control disabled start vehicle to reset.)) Can you give me your hand?🙏
Did you research these before buying? I love the looks of Jeep but I can’t buy one because reviews are so awful. I feel for you but did you look this car up online?
2019 jeep compass three days old. wouldn't start for husband lights on. He tried different things then pressed th button that has an A on it that is near gear shift and pressed on accelerator. it then started?????? Off to a bad start for sure
My 2018 Jeep Compass wouldn’t start after about 10 days of not being driven as I was out of town.it has about 34, 000 miles. My experience was similar to some others who posted. All lights worked, but wouldn’t start when switch was pressed. Messages were ‘ Vehicle is On ‘ and ‘Vehicle is not in Park’. Also was unable to move the gear selector which was clearly in Park. Called AAA. The tech noticed the two error messages and said I’m going to fool the vehicle to believe it’s in Park which he did by applying voltage from his battery pack. This released the gear stick and the Jeep started. Battery was fine. He believes the shift cable got jammed for not being used for10 days. Interesting as that hadn’t happened ever before.
Just happened to me today for the first time. Mine is also a 2018 that I bought in August. I am baffled as to what to do. I don't want to have this happen again.
i am having this problem right now. it wont start.. i am stuck in mexico.. dont know what to do. it didnt say it was the battery or anything.. is 117 f.. help!

I have to turn it off pump the brake 2times start it again it starts and then dies 2 sec after I start it I try starting it again i have catch it on press on the gas peddle reve it up to make it say running and worm up the engine ones the engine is warmed up it stay running
my rental did exactly the same thing under the same cold conditions. There is a video that shows a relay box under the mini battery that was all corroded. He never specifically says it neither cranked nor starts, but I'd tell my mechanic to look there.
My 2014 has been really reliable to me the only unusual repair I’ve had to do for 50,000 miles is replaced the throttle body which the older ones are common for but other than that just normal maintenance and still running strong
this is how jeeps are. Ive had a jeep grand cherokee for a little over 3 months now, and theres always something acting up in my car, frozen U Connect, backup camera not going on, etc. But they all managed to just fix themselves after letting the car sit for over an hour. Just Bad quality control.
Just repaired one today, there are 2 big fuses and 3 small fuses on top the battery. This Compass lost one nut from big fuse, and loose nut on the other. (check your nuts)
So I just got my 2018 Jeep Compass Limited two weeks ago. I go to try and leave for a photography session, and it is doing this same thing. I tried what the guy said about pressing the start button with my foot off the brake a couple times a few minutes apart, and I got nothing. I don’t see how I’m supposed to take it to a dealership to be looked at if I can’t get it out of my driveway.
The problem is that it's a Jeep..lol sorry to say but I never even considered this when buying my SUV in the summer of 2017..I went with the Tuscon Limited, love it, it's fabulous, & such a great ride!
Nick, the same thing happened to my daughter this morning at a gas station in Nashville. A man pumping gas raised her hood and pushed a button on a "computer box," which reset the computer. The car started fine after that.
@@erickreyes8143 i later found out these newer model Jeeps have an auxiliary battery (think the size if a lawn mower tractor battery). That was the actual problem. The aux battery was failing.

Same problem, Took the car to dealer. They said they have to check the problem when it won't start. So I took it home. I can't believe it happens to so many cars and they don't know how to ffix it. There should be a recall.
I've had the displeasure of owning a 2018 Jeep Compass Limited we got in November 15th 2017. I owned it for 10 months and put 12,000 miles on it. We ended up breaking the lease and getting another FCA vehicle (Dodge RAM)... It was in the shop for 45 days for various issues from electrical malfunctions, radio not working, bad sway bars, it had an appetite for motor oil to the tune of 15 quarts in three oil changes (ate all the available oil before the mileage or the date hit). The brakes were constantly squealing, the car on several occasions thought I was breaking into it and also won't start when that would occur. It was so bad I ended up attempting arbitration but they denied me. The last straw was when the car randomly shut off doing 65 mph down a freeway and almost put my families life in jeopardy. When you have no power steering and your coming up to a bend in the road means you use all the available upper body strength to avoid disaster. I would never recommend this car to anyone.
Same for my car,. I just bought my car, absolutely ridiculous. Every time I go to start my car I fear it may not start. It’s a constant issue with the battery. The Jeep Compass is a very crappy car and an expensive car to service. I regret buying it.

Good luck!

Its a shame this condition occurs, but at least there is a way to deal with it. thanks for post! just got my wife going over the phone. exact problem (she thinks im a genius) lol

YES REALLY! THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I feel like they should recall it. Ughhh so frustrating
Read a few comments up, it tells you how it fix the problem! It worked for me!
😂
Solution Found. 2018 compass having similar issues. Changed the process of getting it started. First push start button to let gauges cycle tru the start process, then after 1-2 seconds press brake then push start. It works!!! It used to work with just hitting the brake then start but it started to fail again and again. Reading everyone’s answers helped to to discover this
I hope it helps someone
Thank you for sharing! This happened to me today I tried your trick and it WORKED!
Is this solution good for when the parking brake won't disengage? Like in this video. So many answers but this happened to me twice. Wouldn't start, but people are saying it's happening while driving.
It worked. Thanks
Thank you!! It worked
Son having this problem right now we did exactly like you said and it works thanks
WOW! I came here to try and find an answer for my neighbors 2018 Compass. Looks like it is a problem on a lot of them.
Same here.
My compass gas 55,000mile 2018. And the same problem
Same problem. Has anyone found a solution?
It was your main battery that you charged?
There's 2 batteries??? I just replaced the main battery but my car wouldn't start the other day and the ETC light came on as well as the check engine
Your lights all worked?
Same! I own a 2018 Compass; purchased 7 months ago. This is the second time this has happened to me. The first time it resolved in about 7 minutes. But the car has been sitting now for 3 hours and won't turn over.
Did you find the problem ?
Which battery did you replace?
@@patrickc3936 I ended up replacing both batteries.
I was having the same issue. If it wasn't for this comment I wouldn't have found the problem. Now it's up and running. Thank you!
Jumping the battery won’t help?
I got a call from my daughter telling me the same issue I'm reading right now" just got it the 2018 few days ago " did I just lease a headache?
It’s the battery?
I’ve had the same issue with a 2019. Can you tell me if yours was corrected and what the issue was please.
This happened to my daughters car a couple weeks ago , we are also in NY. I jump started it and all was fine ever since.
I doubt you’ll see this but if you do, what ended up happening? Was it fine afterwards for good? Or at least for awhile haha
Normally mine is good after the jumpstart 😭 then after a couple of months back again
I am having the same problem with my compass. At the dealership now. Its almost like the computer system is confused.
Similar issues and recently my rear cam randomly goes black or comes on but skips and freezes.
At this point I trust my 2009 Yaris to not leave me stranded. I don't feel like I can trust my Jeep now. Gonna see about getting the battery replaced.
Is there a fix for this or is it just the unknown?
Marcelo Ambriz ok but my one completely dead
This worked.Thanks
We have a 2017 with same issue.... it happened in cold and hot weather.... jeep says they haven’t heard of issue... we took valet key and pushed dash button with key and car started
Peter Pontillo thank you! Omg
lmao but my 1999 Jeep cherokee XJ started up today in 7°, and has started up right away in -10°.
Shows how great the old 4.0 i6 is. and how great key ignition is.
My 2019 is doing it too. I just paid almost 900 bucks to have it fixed. Now I'm stranded at Truck stop because it happened again.
My jeep won't start, it starts to crank but will not start
Im in the same situation right now with my 2018 and I can’t even disconnect the battery because it’s so complicated . Did you get it resolved ?
I have a sane problem also so should i jump start or thow the car dealer

Have you solved the problem? how you make it start is cold outside here too
I had this exact problem with my 2017 Compass yesterday.

I don't want to have this happen again.

my rental did exactly the same thing under the same cold conditions. There is a video that shows a relay box under the mini battery that was all corroded. He never specifically says it neither cranked nor starts, but I'd tell my mechanic to look there.

Next time.. Go for a honda or toyota..
Check to make sure the hood and trunk are closed!!!!!!!!
Same for my car,. I just bought my car, absolutely ridiculous. Every time I go to start my car I fear it may not start. It’s a constant issue with the battery. The Jeep Compass is a very crappy car and an expensive car to service. I regret buying it.
Hey, my 2017 compass was doing the same thing. I took it to the dealership hesitantly cause you know. Anyway it ended up being the 40amp fuse for the trailer tow module. I also got a new battery because the main one couldn’t recover. Also my odometer was flashing which was solved by replacing that fuse.
@@hamidbaweemu7869 when I wrote this my car was in the shop so I ended up getting a new auxiliary battery and a new main battery so hopefully I don’t have any more issues anytime soon.
@@Worldculture7371 you shouldn’t, I was told that should take care of it also make sure you have the pcm updated as there’s a recall on model years 2013-2019
@@hamidbaweemu7869When you go to the dealership don’t they supposed to tell you about recalls? I hate going to dealership sometimes thank you, I’m going to call and check that out tomorrow.
@@Worldculture7371 yep they’re supposed to, but as you know they want to be quick. Mine told me right away that it had to be done free of course
This Happened to me today at a drive thru I freaked out I seen how you were able to turn it off and I was able to start it I am going to the dealership to see what they say anyone else or what did they say ?
Mine does this while im driving... Dies and turns the ebrake on while im in the middle of driving..
When driving disengage the auto stop feature. (Button in the middle by 🅿️ brake)
