My thoughts exactly... lots of risk in selling high-dollar items, if you can even find them. I rarely selling anything worth more than $100, most items averaging under $20. My current niche is books. Easy to photograph and cheap to buy in bulk at estate sales/auctions. I recently picked up 200 for less than a quarter each, and a significant number had been signed by the author! It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it works for me.
I like how the thrift store sticker is still on the background items. You have given me so much information I've been able to use. I really appreciate it! I think your content should have 200k+ subscribers because your content is very informative and well done! I also am glad not too many people see this information.
When you came up with your name you missed part of it. It should be The Genius Auction Professor. You are spot on man. I am copying everything you are teaching and it works. Thanks for all of your help!!
Thanks for the info. Best video i wish i would have seen before lanchin my antiques business 18 years ago, would have save me a lot of hassle and money, well never too late as they say
Thanks so much for this video. I watched this back-to-back with 'Might As Well Just Give Up And Quit'. These videos inspired me, motivated me! Just great! Thank you!
Thank you. I agree - it's all very well say only sell high dollar items. Like you say they are hard to find and much riskier in terms of scammers. That advert at the end is super trippy!
Yes! It's ALL about investing the time to figure out what stuff is and what it's worth. There are SO MANY hidden gems out there that everyone overlooks. :)
So stinking true about the ease of finding the lower profit items. I've found maybe a dozen antique books and sets of books that I sell for over a thousand dollars. Meanwhile, I find thousands of books that I sell for 35 to 600 bucks. So, yeah. Like you, my business depends on finding "cheaper" items. (Not things that are under 25 usually though. Not enough profit!)
Great content. I'm surprised no one picked up on your misspelling on the beetle bug bracelet, as in ''Beatles' the group. Maybe that's why it went for so much, ha
I love your enthusiasm, Don. I've said it before many times that I would love to be living in the USA, your buyers over in the US are in a different league to those here in the UK. We have very few buyers for anything here in the UK, & now I have found out that eBay UK is down 70%. Sellers have left the site & many of those sellers were buyers, when they left they aren't coming back onto the site to buy anything & are instead going to Amazon. With all the constant updates, & glitch's, & since managed payments, item specifics, and the fact that they have driven PayPal from the site onto managed payments is too much for many sellers & buyers. I will stick it out but am really struggling to find buyers, It seems that these effects have not changed the US market as much, maybe because there are many many more people in the US than in the UK. Good job with the video, Don. Charles in the UK
Another great video. While watching I am working on posting some paper goods I picked up because of your videos. Already found some really good items, and I am barely into it!
I really like and have learned a lot from you. So thanks! I do not know if you answer questions. If a new reseller has an opportunity to purchase a huge lot of vintage or antique postcards, is this the kind of things you are talking about? Thanks for a yes or no.
Thanks to phony reality tv shows, everybody thinks that there are $1 items worth $3000 at every sale. I'll take the $1 items that I resell for $30-50 instead. If an amazing item comes around, I'll snap it up, but it isn't everyday they come around. Plus, at estate sales, most of them do their homework and know what the items are worth.
Thanks again Don. My mother in law has a large collection of vintage cards of all types but many of Christmas 🎅 Easter 🐣 Valentines etc. I’ve been selling on eBay since 98. She’s been active in the Co-ops since the early 80’s. Has a house filled with sellable items. When we research the value of greeting cards by comps or terrapeak the vast majority of clean vintage cards are in the few dollar range. When I searched for $20-up the vast majority were for collections of 50, 80, 100 cards bringing maybe $125-150. I feel like I’m missing something here. She has German Valentines from the early 1900’s that we thought for sure had value, but not according to the comps. Are there better sites to sell such items than eBay? Thank You again. Laurie & Dave in PA
@@elmwise7146 I wish my problem was simple as that. indefinite suspension on a brand new account with 4 perfect transactions. I think a scammer got me, had a suspicious full price make offer.

Love the "psychic wisdom" comment. Too funny!

Hi I have a question about eBay insertion fee, how that work because I’m confused with the relisting every month can you please explain to me ❤
What is the actual scanner you use? I think I need one. Thanks for all the info!
I had that Burgertime game for Intellivision when I was a teenager! Wasted many an hour not to have hamburger made out of me!😀

I don't know how to rate vinyl. Is that really important for these?
Hey Don I emailed you about ebay troubles did you get it? Something majorly screwy...huge problem I can't get anywhere with. Thanks
Yes something “SCREWY” is definitely happening to views

It's just reality, meaning not every item you buy and list is a $1000+ banger.
Are you sure you don’t have magic psychic powers? 🤣
