On a few occasions, you have mentioned there are people who digitize books for resale. Would it be possible for you to do a detailed video on how this is accomplished and how the digitized books are sold? It seems like a good idea as there are no shipping costs or inventory to store. Plus, the file can be sold multiple times. Thanks very much!

I really liked this video. You could do a video on paper once a week and I would watch it.
The person that sold the Frank Costello paper might have made more money, if they would have put Mafia or mob in the title.

I have been watching UA-cam videos to learn about my resale business for about six months and you by far have caught me the most of anyone else. It’s so nice that you teach us about the history of things and specific things about it instead of just saying what you bought and sold it for. I almost exclusively watch you know thank you so much. I just want a box of 1800 papers wish me luck LOL

Thank you Don for another interesting video.
Right now there are 3175 SOLDS listed under "letterhead". Of those just over 9% sold for $30 or more which is the first 204. A lot of them sell for under $10; in fact just under 2000 listings sold under $10.
This is a case of either luck, really knowing your "stuff" or just pricing high and hoping for the best.
Based on all the low prices, could this be a good catagory for ebay arbitrage or buying low on ebay and reselling?

I have been looking for info on a TON of old letters from the late 1800s my grandmother had gotten in an estate sale in the 1970s and I had NO idea how to find the value on these. I am going to list a few using what I learned from you and see if they sell. Thanks so much for sharing your vast knowledge!

I brought home a big lot of paper ephemera from Germany. The problem is I can't figure out what any of it is, lol. I could totally use an app to try and translate some of it, but it's in such ornate cursive I can't hardly make out the words themselves like if they were in English. Yes, I'm old enough to know how to read cursive, but this is old school ornate lettering in a foreign language! So I just keep them in a box until I know what to do. A few pieces do have war symbols I can pick out, but most of it is earlier like early 1900s if I recall correctly. Like some seem like receipts and work orders perhaps. I think some looked like from a doctor. Would love any advice you may have. Was thinking about calling the German Dept at the local college... Thank you for the videos!

    Hi Don,
I always enjoy your informative videos.
I’ve been a collector for a long time of great rare paper ephemera and also I’ve done some buying and selling of it on eBay. I always sell my things I buy it now or make offer, but it makes me wonder if I might’ve gotten a lot more money if I let things go to auction.
One thing that concerns me, and forgive me if you’ve already addressed this on another video… I’m concerned that this video has over 14,000 views so far so 10% of those people head out on the road doing a road trip all over America that’s 1400 people gobbling up what may be the last of these great paper treasures. I wonder at a certain point if your videos will drive price is up for buyers of this type of thing. I’ve been to so many small towns where little junk stores and yard sales will have high prices on things. When I ask them how they came up with that price, they say “well on antiques roadshow… Or on the Internet, or on eBay, or on UA-cam or on American pickers… They said that this was worth a lot of money.“ So the mix box of antique or vintage paper items that used to sell for $20 for the whole box they now want $400, and there might not even be much that’s worth paying that kind of high wholesale price.
I don’t mean to be whining, cause I really do enjoy your videos. I’m reminded of how fortunate I was in the early 1970s, I was just a kid collecting old bottles and other antique things. I had joined a thing called “the collector study“, similar to watch your video series is. At the meeting each month there would be a different collector who would have a big display of their collection and they would spend about 2 1/2 hours walking you through the collection and educating you about the items, whether it was glassware, old stamps, or letterhead, rare old Santa Claus Christmas cards, call Tools, old car hood ornaments, etc. it was endlessly fascinating and I absorb all of that information and I’ve retained it all these years later. I salute you for your efforts and admire you for your seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of collectibles. Cheers!

I just discovered your channel! It's so nice to find someone who specializes in antique and vintage finds. Your knowledge blows me away! I adore paper so I was particularly interested in this video. I noticed that most of these lay flat. If you have paper that has folds, is it best to use a cloth and iron the creases out or keep the folds in? Thanks for such amazing content, can't wait to catch up on all your other videos.

Don. I realize you uploaded this video before the Pandemic hit but I have a couple of questions: 1.... Where would you source this kind of product now since thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales and estate sales are pretty much closed to the public because of this Pandemic. 2 .... For items like this letterhead paper, that sell for hundreds of dollars, wouldn't that be a target for scammers on ebay to win or buy the item and never pay or win or buy the item, pay and then file a INAD case against you, get their money back from ebay and then send you back an item that has no value and is not the item you originally sold them. Thanks for your help.

Everyone who regularly buys ephemera .... regularly comes across letterheads .... a few of which should have value.
But ours are from the 1900s not the 1800s.
Anything on paper from the 1800s is potentially worth 3-figures. No-one should struggle with selling that.
The problem we have is how & where to sell paper from the 1900s.
Somewhere in my Death-Pile I have quotations to the Government of a Gulf State for heavy earth-moving equipment and for large-scale desalination equipment.
1963 I think, or thereabouts. What category should I list that in?
    .
Your over-head projection gives me the title, so I can see the keywords
but it does not show the category.
eBay would say that a Whiskey letter-head should go in the ephemera category.
But I imagine you would put it in Whiskey Collectibles, right?
    .
So I imagine I should list earth-moving equipment among Back-Hoes (JCBs) and desalination under some environmental category.
    Or, perhaps
I should wait for a video that shows me what not to bother listing at all.
    Now THAT would be useful.
    .
    Best wishes
    William

Sorry but you are 200% wrong as EVERY SINGLE item I show is a sold item straight from eBay from the time the video was posted. You wont find the items though that are shown in this video on eBay because this video is OVER A YEAR OLD, and eBay solds only show up in Terapeak for a year. This video is from April 2020.
