    Man, I used to be a big swimbaiter. It was my number one bait, but I lost it and unfortunuatly it has been discontinued. The action was the best looking lure I owned. It was the Kennen aquarelic. Now my swimbait of choice is the old model of the river2sea rig walker. I am still pretty new, and I live in wisconsin so some of those huge swimbaits are out of the picture for me. Im thinking of picking up the first river2sea. Thanks for the advice :) I also have the Sebile Magic Swimmer and I love it.

      Alex Rudd Fishing Dood great choice Alex! I recently swooped the 8' xhvy it's rated 3 to 10 ounce baits, so far I've throw an 8in Hudd, S waver168 and 200, Savage gear line thru trout 8in, and a Spro BBZ1 8in slow sink, and it's been wonderful, Diawa makes great products and for $110.00 retail it's a great stick. Bought my first big swimbait a couple weeks back, first time I brought it out I was on Melton and a giant musky broke it off. Do you use a wire leader and lighter line or heavy line and no leader? I upgraded to 65lb braid but I’m still not trying to lose another $30.

    • @AlexRuddFishing
      @AlexRuddFishing  6 років тому

      That sucks. That's also why I don't throw them around musky lol unless I'm targeting them. You can use a steel leader if you want. It will hamper the action though. I usually throw just straight 25lb pline voltage. I've landed several musky with that. They will cut braid like a hot knife through butter.

    • @sueyeet6900
      @sueyeet6900 6 років тому

      I’ve landed them on 20lb braid but somehow broke off 40. I wouldn’t say we’re targeting them but Melton is full of them, I’m also not going to beat it off with a stick. Basically we’re bass fishing but don’t mind them biting.

    • @AlexRuddFishing
      @AlexRuddFishing  6 років тому

      @@sueyeet6900 for sure! I love catching them. I just know when I'm tossing my big stuff in the Hill I've got a chance there's going to be one take a swing.

    • @AlexRuddFishing

      The Shorebound Angler I use 20-25 pline cxx

    • @rodfather_bass_fishing
      @rodfather_bass_fishing 7 років тому

      Alex... I heard you say really good things about the P-Line CXX in one of Ben's live streams and I started using it last month. I won't go back to anything else... I'm now getting into the swim bait game, after watching some TANKS follow my partner's Twitch 'N Ninja back to the boat last weekend. Do you use straight CXX or do you use a heavier braid with the CXX as a leader? Also, I've heard others swear by using a lighter leader, in the 15 lb. range... for the purpose of getting more side to side (Like on an S-Waver) than they would with heavier line. Would you agree with that?

    • @AlexRuddFishing
      @AlexRuddFishing  7 років тому

      I use straight 20lb CXX. I've tried lighter line and I personally have never seen a difference in the action.

    • @AlexRuddFishing
      @AlexRuddFishing  7 років тому +1

      H2o Fishing wouldn't say they are that similar, but I prefer the magdraft in the soft body paddle tail category.

      @h2ofishing776 7 років тому

      Alex Rudd Fishing ok, thanks

    • @SwimbaitChronicles
      @SwimbaitChronicles 7 років тому +2

      two different actions in soft baits. the mag draft is going to be used at a faster pace throughout the water column with a body rocking back and forth action. where as the hudd is going to offer slower more subtle swim with just side to side tail kick. more often then not bouncing on the bottom. not to say you cant swim it faster in warmer water cuz you can but its a more subdued swim. The MagSlowl is the magdrafts little brother and can be reeled slower and all of the action is in its tail with not as much roll in the body. Great in the paddle tail category for colder slower moving fish or smallies.

    • @AlexRuddFishing
      @AlexRuddFishing  7 років тому +1

      Exactly! Great explanation man. It's just crazy I can not get my fish to eat a Hud I've thrown and thrown it. My fish just don't react well to it. Only thing I've ever got to commit is a big walleye lol.
