    Just now realized that my wording could've been better, but Radahn's spawn-point in the sky at half-health is dependent on the direction that your character (not the camera) is facing. So if your character is facing the moon, then he'll spawn by the moon; if your camera's the only one facing the moon, then he'll spawn wherever your character is facing. It can still be anywhere in the sky, so pressing down on your right thumbstick (or whatever centers your camera to your character's line of sight) will work, and then ya just listen to some elevator music until he lands.

    This doesn't have enough views. This is by far the BEST guide for learning Radahns tells and attack timings. No cheese, no summons, no horse, just good old fashion roll and smack. Thanks man.

    What a fantastic video. I wasn’t able to land a hit on this guy, and only half an hour after watching your video, I soloed him, and it felt too easy. Can’t thank you enough for making me comfortable with this fight.

    Thank you so much for this video. This is my first souls style game ever. I usually only play FPS. The melee and camera third person camera etc always annoyed me. I hated this game and said it wasn't for me but begrudgingly continued for about 6 hours over the course of a few days because my daughter bought it for me for Father's day. She was so happy to get me a cool game i couldnt just quit.
    I watched a few videos that were "get OP." and when I learned a few patterns I really started loving this game. Having hyper spells early on was fun, but then I watched Asmongold gameplay an episode or 2 and I really became fascinated with melee only. I don't know why, but being overpowered and with maxed unique weapons, special skills, spells etc. I felt like I wasn't really fighting or in danger and felt cheesy. So I learned to parry Margit and holy cow it was so much fun.
    I have killed Radahn a few times but that was with summons and ice spear "fun but... kinda cheesy. I looked up melee Radahn and found you. This really changed my entire outlook on melee and how to fight.
    Counting out 1-2 3 4-5 6 really works. Even if you get trapped under him you can still count and the whole thing is no damage. I started counting others to help dodge too!
    Also baiting him to flat ground tip - amazing! I actually jumped the wave twice in the round I beat him. I have never been able to figure out how to get passed that. I could go on.
    Anyway I just wanted to share. I just completed my first solo melee Broadsword Radahn no summons fight. I did change attack a little by using Square Off/R2 and actually managed to break him for critical! With just a straight sword! I even tried for hours with great stars because it was "OP" but never could kill him solo with it.
    I love what you said about being forced to respec your build. It's funny how the most basic starter weapon can be "OP". When I started to use square off and realized it is actually so great I couldn't believe hiw discounted it is. My only issue with sword only is how to deal with miners because they are so strong against blades. Anyway...
    I know this is long but really, thank you so much.

      Many thanks for your words and appreciation! I'm glad to help anyone who initially struggles with this game (as I still struggle depending on the enemy haha), especially players who are new to the gaming style of FromSoftware's popular titles like Elden Ring. One of the biggest appeals that RPGs such as this have for me is learning how to dance with enemies (i.e., learning their attack patterns). Granted, a lot of enemies, even in this game, I will always dislike because of their BS, but there's plenty of enemies that I still enjoy. The enemies that I enjoy are what inspired me to re-learn their choreography so I can dance with them as my cosplay of The Blue Dancer; Malenia's fight last year took me the longest to learn thus far at nearly a week's worth of practice, but it remains one of my favorite videos on my channel. I want to continue dancing throughout The Lands Between, and it's great that you learned to parry Margit! He's next on my list among a few others; it's gonna take a while, but I'll get there.
      I'd say nearly every weapon, if not every weapon (although I certainly don't like every weapon), is capable from start to finish. In my first playthrough, I chose the Vagabond and stuck with the starting weapon from start to finish, and it was great. If ever I needed more juice or style, that's where the Ashes of War came in. I didn't want to worry about constant respecs, farming for upgrades and all that other mess, not for a first playthrough, anyway. A nice tip I can share for the miners is that they're weak to blunt damage, so if you buy a simple Mace (pretty sure the Twin Husk Maidens or whatever they're called back at the Roundtable hub sell one), you just bonk them with a blunt weapon and boom, they crack more easily, which I love because it makes sense haha. I didn't know this at first so I just did a bunch of two-handed jumping-heavy attacks to deal with them faster with a slashing weapon.
      I love detailed comments, especially from fellow chill players. Thanks for watching and commenting again. Keep carving your path, fellow Elden Lord!

      @Maestro Virgoreo I did start using morning star on miners. I'm thinking that one may be my next play through main. I think most people just use it to kill the old dragon and never again but I used it for a while in exploring and I like it. I don't know Mucha about scaling and such but it seems like all the starting area weapons can be upgraded to be great.

    I know this guide is kind of old, and I am late to the party, just wanted to thank you I had quite the trouble with him but once I realized how to dodge certain attacks with your video and how to bait him into doing the dismount attack I got him in a couple of tries, great content! I don't know if you have other videos on bosses but if you do I'll make sure to check them out.

      Thanks for your comment, glad my video helped! With the other guides on UA-cam for other bosses, I didn't think to make any more apart from Radahn's since the Radahn videos were either summon-spams and distance attacks or get OP and pump Vigor, and neither one helped me learn the fight lol. In my last playthrough, I observed more patterns from other bosses so if there's any bosses that seem tricky, feel free to mention them 👍🏻

    2:19, 5:02 - Just wanted to note that when you dodge there, there's a way to bait out a huge slam attack after that roar he does, which has an emormous punishment window for it. If you roll in front of him (instead of behind him) when he does that roar, he gets locked into that attack, so you can get back behind him and perform charged heavies on his horse as he's in the process of doing that. If you have a weapon with a huge damage output, the fight is basically over when he does that, because you can stance break him and kill him before he even gets a chance to meteor. If he gets a chance to phase transition, he's very close to death, and that opening sequence where he cragblades and leaves his horse wide open is probably where you can kill him. The reason I bring that up is because in this clip, you stayed behind him when you dodge rolled, and didn't bait that out. Ended up getting hit both times by him after.
    Incidentally, at 8:18, you demonstrated that. Just another thing that players can do to make this fight more consistent and manageable.

    Just needed to see how to dodge his flashy lightning attack in phase 2 for my solo RL1 run, thanks. This video game out before Radahn was patched, so I'm curious if "I still dislike this boss for objective reasons" is still true; I've found his attacks reasonably intuitive, apart from the slam both swords right in front of him move that usually oneshots me.

    • @MaestroVirgoreo
      @MaestroVirgoreo  2 роки тому +1

      His hitboxes were poorly designed and made pure-melee combat needlessly difficult, and while his attack power feels overwhelming initially, he is a general and master of warfare, so what else is expected when he's dual-wielding airplane wings. The developers still need to work on managing camera angles such that large enemies don't become disorienting to fight in melee combat. Nonetheless, learning his move sets made his encounter manageable even before the 1.03 patch. An improved difference that the patch presented is that one can now be more aggressive in melee and not need to keep distance as much as I do in this video.

    Currently pretty drunk but trying to learn this dude's dodge timings. I'm pretty solid at most of the early game bosses and even managed to solo Malekith after like 50+ tries. Based off this guide it's interesting having to break my habit of staying right underneath the boss, most attacks still swing overhead but it's a lot of RNG if I'm safe from some attacks so I'll try the distance strategy.
    I'm into Altus Plateau level 79 on my most recent character and struggling pretty hard on Radahn because it's my first solo playthrough. I'll definitely kick this dudes ass sometime soon though. Part of me wants to level up a little bit more and I know that's what the game wants but at this point I'm just being stubborn

    • @MaestroVirgoreo
      @MaestroVirgoreo  Рік тому +1

      Yeah, it's funny how his size ends up being his biggest disadvantage because a lot of his hits are wide and high and easily missed when you're point-blank on him. Still, as you mentioned, the RNG can still get ya, so it's good to know his rhythm and dance along when needed. Using a weapon you like is also just as important; the simple Longsword has good timings for charged heavies and plunge attacks, and its Square Off ash of war is pretty good at building up a stance-break even against someone as tanky as Radahn. I went through my entire first playthrough just with the Longsword, and that was without using Square Off.
      Maliketh gave me just as much grief as Radahn, although I prefer Radahn since he's slower when compared to Maliketh's acrobatics lol.

    Super cool video! I'm very interested to know what your opinion is on the Elden Ring bosses in general and how they compare to the souls games?
    Also, what do you think is the worst boss in Elden Ring?

    • @MaestroVirgoreo
      @MaestroVirgoreo  5 місяців тому +5

      Elden Ring is my favorite game of the souls-genre. There's a lot more to do and experiment with right away than in other game because it's open-world. Many found that overwhelming but after a first playthrough, its replayability has been the most enjoyable out of any other game in the genre for me. Sekiro remains my favorite combat system that FromSoftware has designed, but the overall gameplay experience in Sekiro begins to feel repetitive a lot sooner than in Elden Ring; I still hope for a well-deserved and more expanded sequel of Sekiro. Elden Ring made important quality-of-life improvements, especially as it pertains to open-world exploration. They've begun to focus on designing the bosses to be the real challenge rather than the runbacks to them (which weren't challenging, but just annoying). Still, that doesn't mean they perfected every encounter.
      In Elden Ring, I enjoy encounters that let you have fun with them, especially with parries. I enjoy Maliketh, the Godskins (separately, not the duo), Godfrey, Tree Sentinel (very fun to parry for me), Rellana, Messmer, Romina and Malenia (despite her gimmicks, there's still enough that can be done with her to make it interesting).
      The worst encounters are ones whose impressions were focused on far more than their implementations, so Fire Giant, Rykard, Gideon (and every NPC fight in general really), and Elden Beast. All duos are bad because they're not choreographed: they just throw isolated AIs in a room and make you deal with it. The popular counterclaim for this is that it promotes the use of spirit summons, to which I say is just as dumb and lazy. All fights should still be fair and fun by yourself, and if you want additional allies for whatever reason, then it's there as an option and that's it. It's especially lazy that they couldn't be bothered to choreograph the one required Duo, the Godskin Duo, which is a shame because they could've had unique movesets that complemented each other.
      The worst encounter in the entire game for me is the Realm of Shadow's final encounter. That second phase is just bad and nothing redeems it for me. There are many other ways to preserve (and enhance) that encounter to truly feel like a godly battle, and they chose the worst ways to do it. Really, the entire final stretch of the DLC was anticlimactic and rushed, but to have that thing be the final encounter was such a disappointment. As far as I'm concerned, Messmer is the final boss of the DLC.

      Alrighty so I fought Radahn again as my Blue Dancer cosplay and I was able to avoid that twirl a swirl move at 5:21 by staying on the right side and rolling into his left foot as he spins the blades. The angle can be tricky but worked nonetheless after trying to find ways of being more aggressive lol. There were times when I only had to roll once and somehow missed the second blade, but I spam rolled to be safe lol. A bit difficult to describe it in words but once I finish completing the last two battles in that Part 4 video, I can link the moment where I roll into his left foot.

    fighting for my life rn trying to do a 10 vigor run of this game. Not even rl1, just no leveling vigor. I'm staying pretty underleveled though so it still feels like a challenge run, but man, margin for error is nonexistent. On radahn rn after having an easy time with the first few bosses and I'm so far from winning it's ridiculous. I die so quickly I don't even have time to learn his moveset.

    • @MaestroVirgoreo
      @MaestroVirgoreo  Місяць тому

      Radahn is definitely a Vigor-check boss when not trying to purposefully keep it low haha. It took me a while to comfortably identify which moves he'll go for, and even then, the attack where he quickly slams his two swords down is easy to miss. Good luck! Challenge runs feel great once you complete them.

      I’m also doing this, although it’s a level 1 run, and yeah he is insanely hard. Almost everything one hits us haha. I feel like I know his move set for the most part but I get myself into an unfavorable combo chain too often. I’m trying to fight him from the front with him within my full view so I can bait out a few more openings I feel comfortable with and I’m making more progress now. Also one time when he was supposed to do the stomp-slash attack by his foot instead he did the quick smash and it absolutely traumatized me lol
