  • Diesel BMW engine m47D20, 118d jerking/hesitating between 1500 - 2000RPM, while feathering the gas. No hesitation at full or no gas. Rule out/in the EGR valve in 2minutes.

    For me the problem was the egr. Solved the problem with egr delete

    For me the issue was Turbo boost control Solenoid. Costs 40EUR brand new 10EUR used.
    Drives like it should now.

      Yes same for me, I replaced EGR and it didn't solve the problem but changing the boost control solenoid worked!

      @@madara7859 yes, but not that part was the issue by me. The thing that fixed the car was a resoftware at BMW. Looked like it was a SW issue.

    If you have this problem replace the vacuum pressure solenoid valve
    The valve that was unplugged in the video
    Cheap and easy to replace

    I have a similar issue but it’s like that at all throttle until about 2-2.5k then it feels normal quite a lot of white smoke now but when it first started there was tones of black smoke, runs very rough on idle gear box shaking too. First think for me to check is the intake manifold for holes or if the swirl flaps may have broken off.

      @@daliborjurjevic1979 yes, it was the hose that enters the egr actuator , was leaking vacuum, I replaced it.

      @@madara7859 I just took a look around the hoses that entered the egr actuator and my luck was that one of them was broken on the upper side so it was easy to spot .

    If it's not the EGR valve, it's turbo boost solenoid also known as pressure converter. Easy to change, 1 bolt only. Inside is a small vapor filter that gets clogged and small membrane that sticks or leaks. Pierburg is oem. Good luck!

      @@xXxBo5sANaCxXx Da, ja sam ga skinio u isprao sa break cleanerom, nakon njega stavia malo silikonskog spreja da se membrana ne osusi i pukne. To nije riješenje konacno, iako mi je pomoglo dosta, ali cu morati zamijeniti ga novim Pierburg solenoidom cca 60€ novi i nove vakum cijevi.

      @@xXxBo5sANaCxXx slazem se. Mislim da je stvar u redovitom odrzavanju, jako fino podeseni motori gdje sve mora biti ispravno, inace jedan kvar vuce drugi. Ako se vec zna sta se treba mijenjati onda se treba mijenjati kompletni popratni sadrzaj tog sustava. Npr, ako si prosao vise od 100.000km i mijenjas MAF, najbolje promijenit i MAP i ovaj solenoid, kao i modul grijaca plus grijace ukoliko vec nisu izbacili gresku. Nije vridno svako malo skidati usisnu granu i mislit se.

    I have the same problem only in traffic, I get jerks, I use to get it when I slow down and on second but did the transmission service with the rear valve body sleeve/ mechatronic, electrical control sleeve (o rings)

    have n47 2.0 with 4CAE error (gas recirculation controller, poziționare sensor, signal, and i cant delete it. I delete it and appears instantly. After aprox 100 km shows 4501 and check engine light comes in.
    I cleaned egr( egr is clasic with vacuum and coller), I changed litle presure hoses, and 4cae is always there even with engine off( contact on ) .
    Its this actuator from video the problem?..

      No it's not, same feeling but only between 1500-1800 rpm and when throttle is only lightly pressed

      I've found this out as well pal ,got the same car and same issue.
      I changed fuel filter and no change ,so I'm now thinking carbon build up in side the intake or to do with EGR valve as this is recirculated exhaust and at low rpm (light pedal ) your more or less running on exhaust as low spool from turbo to force fresh air into intake.
      I'm exploring this at weekend so will post update..... Lol

      Sound. another lad on here just mentioned catalytic converter and mass air sensor so I'm now thinking mine is a combination of these and my symptoms are it runs really rough when cold (more than average diesel) but fine if give it 3-5 mins to warm up and its runs like silk with 0 turbo lag. and if you drive motorway at say 70 for 20-30 mile and then come off ,it feels like its had a remap as got more power than usual.mine has done 210,000 + and I've put 20+ on with literally one oil and filter and not another thing on the car touched:-)

      I've heard that if you have your EGR delete via a ECU remap you can get a ride of this issue.

    Have same problem, replaced glow plugs and relay, cleaned manifold, replaced mass air flow sensor, fuel sensor, still problem not solved, the car was very Smokey after a week nothing else, just the rough idle when standing still and about 1500 rpm, I would exclude injectors because she start up very strong even -2C and no misfires, it may be turbo is failing or engine oil is old or wasn’t that great, getting checked on Saturday and see what it is, hope for the egr I will try to clean it up

      @@harrysanders9225 well actually the car is at a garage, and by my inspection I found that the rocker cover gasket is to replace and two injectors have damaged seals, the rocker gasket has been replaced, for the injectors seals they are looking around and will change all of the 4, hope to get it tomorrow as on the 26 th I am supposed to go with family in Edinburgh

      @@gillespendragon okay mate, all the best for your trip! But please let me know if this resolves the issue! When changing into 2nd for me mainly or any gear in general, at low acceleration and revs it’s very jerky and hesitant so hope your issue is resolved and may help me diagnose mine!

      @@harrysanders9225 just got the car from garage, they cleaned and replaced the seals on the injectors and the rocker cover gasket, and now she sounds good and good

    Would like to know was this really EGR or not? I have similar problem, but jerks only on light throttle in 5th gear, at around 2500RPM. No issues with full throttle acceleration or half throttle, only on very mild throttle. Also no power loss and normal fuel consumption. on my car EGR closes immediately on higher throttle demand, so it is easy to think it is EGR valve related. EGR cleaned, and did not help. When it jerks, fuel pressure is stabile, MAP reports stabile value, MAF reports normal values, though my MAF does jump around more than would be normal. Installed new MAF - same thing. Do not understand why MAF is not stable on stable power demand.

      Carbon build up inside intake throttle body's (old fashioned butterfly flap style ) most likely cause on high mileage cars with no EGR delete

      @@jamessummerfield3287 thank you for the comment. I did cleaning of throttle body to, when I was cleaning EGR. MAP sensor was full of carbon. I did not see on readouts that is lagging or something so did not had hopes cleaning shall help, and it did not. I did not clean complete intake after throttle body, need new gaskets and it is bit more work, that I also do not think it shall make big difference, but I can be wrong, so I shall do it anyway when I get the time. I just have huge problem to understand why MAF air reading is jumping around so much. All the time it is jumping in all gears, though problems with "jerking" I have only in 5th gear on mild throttle. One idea is that my precat after turbo is bit clogged so EGR flow is to high, because I can not find air leaks in my intake. Also it appears my AFR is bit on high side most of the time. lambda is reading 0.63V, it drops to about 0.52 when pushing the engine to max. Though commanded and measured AFR do not mismatch, seems fine - makes me bit confused. Sorry for all that text, typing to much :)

      Egr solenoid is not working properly. That is why MAF readings are jumping. Change your EGR Solenoid.

      @@dejanmalinov3238 Ok I shall test it, because EGR commanded is fallowing exactly EGR actual position. EGR error position reading is basically very low.

      Hello,my car does the same even keeps lagging for a couple of seconds when I press the pedal in to try and boost past the stutter ,only ever in 5th or 6th gear between 1700 and 2.500 revs weird.ive recently had my car mapped, dpf and erg delete or shut off still has the lag, stutter lack of power for a couple of seconds feels like its almost dragging back all other driving fine and it doesn't happen every time but it us a regular occurance. The forums are a minefield of possible reasons???

    I have exactly the same problem to my E83 M47TU.Additionaly too often DPF regenerations.Tomorrow I will check EGR and EGR Cooler.Is it a common problem for the EGR Cooler to be clogged or just only the EGR malfunction?

      hy. how did you solved after all? i'm facing the same problem on the same car (x3) but i did not succed to fix the too ofted DPF regen. the car shakes at stop but no codes (excepting the too ofted regen)

    I have the exact same issue, it jerks around even when in 1st gear going 15-20 mph, 2nd going 35-45 etc.. it jerks and feels like my car is twerking, but I don't think unplugging that one cable does anything, its more to it then that

    Have you replaced the egr valve and it is ok now ? Because I have exacf the same issue, changed the egr valve and debitmeter and the issue is still there. Also when I unplug the egr valve everything is fine...

      Hi, no it didn't help. Read the comments below. There is some good info there. I believe someone had the same problem got it sorted out by changing some pressure control/boost valve...

      @@alexm154 pressure or boost solenoid. Also change a vacum pipe from it to the egr valve. It will fix the problem, but egr must be cleaned good.

      Mine gets better in manual mode too. When the car is warm it happens very slightly in manual but in auto it's bad

    Got same problem my self so I had dpf delete egr delete and swirl flaps delete by mapping out but still same it’s like it got a diff problem or clutch it’s weird😁 hi I’ve found the problem it’s the rubber doughnut on the propshaft I’ve had my x3 in for new one and transfer oil and diff oils and the problem is gone the car is like new and I mean new hope this helps anyone with this problem 😁😁😁💪

      No, unless you restart and drive the car with this unplugged for 3or more times then you may/will get an engine fault (helicopter)

      I didn't get any engine light... Worth trying. If it does come on, once you replug it, after some time it should go off again. Or any ecu diagnostic tool will.

      @@okantarakci3674if you leave it unplugged for a long period, yes you will get an engine emission fault. It's OK to unplug for just a test drive.

      Hi changing the EGR didn't help, the car still hesitated a little... Try the MAP sensor as someone suggested. Sorry, glad the car is sold now.

      @@janvodicka3057 I'm having same issue on 1.5 dci in Mercedes A class. I used STP injector cleaner and it did not help. Now I tried cleaning DPF and am waiting to see if it helps. If it does not will try ERG. If that also doesn't help then MAF and last resort are fuel injectors..

      @@davidmcnulty1194 on my engine cleaning egr did help a bit, but after talking to Renault specialist they said that egr could malfunction electronically on 1.5 dci with 110hp and that it is common issue. So I might replace it all together. I did mention injectors but they said that Renault got new supplier for 110hp version and that they never had issue with injectors on that type of 1.5 dci. Other versions do have a lot of problems with injectors tho.

      To může být ledasco, hádám to na na privodu vzduchu, egr, dira v intercooleru, ovládání lopatek turba, cidlo tlaku na sacim potrubí... vic mě nenapadá

      it can still be the map sensor. if u dont have a bmw specific scanner u can just get an normal imissons fault code

      Nevím, nakonec vymena egr nepomohla. Někdo říkal, že měl stejný problem a pomohla vymena boost senzoru tlaku v sání...
