Thanks for all your help! I'm pretty much forced into learning the mechanical ropes on my cbr 125 after it would no longer start. After rebuilding the carb 50 million times, I found that this was the problem (I found fuel in the vacuum hose). The oil contamination had thinned the oil so much that the compression wasnt good enough to start the engine. Fresh oil and a new petrol tap and it started first time! Thanks again, your videos were super helpful.
You are a legend - thank you so much, hubby wouldnt listen when I said to google this as he said that there are too many people who don't know what they are talking about - however, he said that you were spot on (he was ready to scrap "the bloody thing")
Many thanks Sparky for such an imformative video. My Grandson now has a CBR 125 and this could well be the source of his problems too, he's going to check the oil tonight, so much appeciated as we wouldn't have worked this out ourselves. It must have been a lightbulb moment when you discovered this! Whatever happened to the good old petrol tank tap (off/on & reserve) like I had on my old bikes ha-ha?.. A big thanks to helpful guys like yourself.
I've been having ideal problems and power problems for months on end saw this video on my feed by chance ran outside pulled my oil cap off and what you know smells like petrol 😂 thank you so much (CBR 125 2006)
Sparky Rides I replaced the fuel tap earlier this week and drained the oil and put in fresh oil didn't really make a difference the bike is still running quite sluggish and bad won't want to rev past 9 - 9.5k acts like it's hitting the rev limiter I'm pretty mechanically mined as I just Finnish my mechanic course at college but I'm completely stumped. On top of only working part time so taking it to a garage really is last resort but I don't seem to have much choice now 😂
CallummanTwo Nation oh that's a bummer, have you checked the tubes from the tank are not pinched as they are quite soft and when you lower the tank into position it's easy to trap them. It's long tubes that run from the tank down through the frame and finish under the bike.
Thank you so much, I've been looking for the problem with my bike for a couple of weeks now and now that i checked the vacuum hose and it smelled like petrol i found out. Again thank you so much sir.
Ahh no way, ive noticed fuel smell in the oil too. Im going to do mine. Ive just recently cleaned the carb, found a lot of rust in powder form in the carb bowl and noticed the rubber boot in between the carb and inlet on the head had liquid sat there. Didnt think much of it as when i took the carb off i disconnected the water hose and a little coolant splashed about so thought it could've been that. Nice video thanks for the knowledge
I'm having this problem with flooding when starting I been scratching my head wondering what the problem is . going to check my oil in morning hope see if petrol in my oil thanks for the tip 👍👍
I've been having an issue with my cbr125r 07. Right pain in the arse, just one day whoslt I'm driving the revs would slowly die out and sputter till it stalled, if wait a while and then it would go again until it stalled out. I cleaned the carb multiple times, cleaned the jets. Thought everything was fine. Happened again. Watching this video, I smelled the oil and stinks of petrol. Ordered a new tap. I pray this is the problem!
I have a cbr125r 07 and have the problem of when shifting gear were it don't want to take off but you have to rev a few times for the speed to pick up .....this is hopefully the problem :) great videos you have gained a subscriber
Hi sir! Please I need your help, I'm trying to get some of my bike's part here in my country but it so exhausting getting to know I can't find new parts, I don't mind if you can help me with any idea how to buy and ship them over
I have the opposite of this at the minute. I have narrowed it down to loss of vacuum from the carb end. I have manually created a vacuum at the carb end of the vac pipe and the bike runs fine but as soon as I connect the pipe back it slows and dies. Inspected the rubber diaphragm in the top of carb as I’m told this creates the suction and there are no splits or holes. What would cause this?
Thanks to this video. Have found this is the problem with my bike. Just one question hopefully you answer. When connecting the 2 pipes that go on to the tap which way do they go? Does the one from the engine go on the bottom? Have forgotten and can't seem to find a diagram
Jason Carter Hi I can’t remember but if you put the tubes on the petstop valve and gently suck you will see fuel flow. I’m pretty sure that the vacuum hose is the bottom one but can’t swear to it. Hope this helps
Hello, my honda didnt ran for probably 3years. Now i want to make it run again. I exchanged oil, filter, spark, cleaned the carb, put a new tap on, and the engine bogs down every time i look at the gas handle, but if i put some restriction on the intake it revs 10x better and higher. What could cause this problem?
Hi, my cbr 125 07 carb model is also experiencing similar problems and I'm after some advice, started up on a cold start, turned it off within a few minutes because i noticed the fuel was low and i wasn't really to ride, came back later, wouldn't start, added lots of fuel and cranked for ages but still nothing, notcied fuel leaking from exhaust so gave up, left it for a week due to work, now I've cleaned the tank, the carb and unpon cleaning found fuel in the airbox and the clear hose connected to the air box, fuel in the small s like hose that connects the airbox to the engine and got about 4 liters of fuel/oil when opened the drian bolt, i haven't tried to start it yet so should i change the tap and are there any other issues I'm not seeing?
Hi what you have described is more or less what happened to my son’s bike which is why I made the video as couldn’t find any information about this problem. Yes I would say change the fuel tap change the oil and try again.
Hi. I found these videos very helpful. I have a carb cbr 125r which seems to have a similar issue. I cleaned out the carb, took out the plug and oil and left any petrol evaporate for a day and then changed the oil and after about a week the oil had nearly a litre of fuel in it again. I was changing the inline fuel filter on my one and the petrol was pouring out of the pipe connected to the tank so I am taking that as a sign that the vacuum fuel tap is stuck open. Did the petcock/fuel tap solve the problem long term? In theory in my case shouldn’t the float in the carb stop the cylinder from flooding anyway though? I have ordered a fuel tap from eBay so hopefully that might resolve the problem.
ger mullally hi yes sounds the same problem that I had and changing the pet cock tap solved it for me. As for the float stopping the fuel in the carb, yes that is correct but in my case the fuel was entering the engine via the vacuum tube hence filling the sump with fuel.
Oh my! My CBR runs like shit, when its idling and i turn the accelerater it just stalls. Thought it would be the idling screw, im gonna see if my oil smells like gas.
Alright mate how can I know 100% that it’s the tap I have sucked the vacuum pipe and the fuel is only coming out out of the fuel line not the vacuum how did you test your much thanks
Arron Davies Hi mate that’s how I tested mine and had the same result, but then I checked the oil for a smell of petrol. As the oil did smell of petrol and I knew the carb was fine it could only be that fuel was get down the vacuum line so I changed the Petcock and problem solved. Hope this helps 👍
Hiya I too have the same problem..but cant seem to fin tbenpart or mot 100%, sure what I'm after would anybody have a link for the part at all 2010 cbr..thanks
Gray Tranter hi not sure this will apply to your bike, as I’m pretty sure that bikes after 2008 are fuel injection therefore you would have a fuel pump on your bike.
@@BikeMates thank you very much for your quick response....ye I can't find the tap thingy so ye thinking the same so gonna take tank off n have a look today..will let you know how I get on.thank you

NO-MODZ__WARF4R3 take the dipstick out and smell it, if it smells of petrol then the fuel tap is the problem. If the tank has ever been lifted then also check the 2 tubes that come from the tank are not crushed as this will cause the fuel to stop flowing. Let me know how you get on when you’ve fitted the fuel tap. 👍
Sparky Rides it dose smell like petrol but the oil level hasn’t changed that much, the vacuum pipe also smells of petrol, when the bike dies and I start it back up i pull the throttle and it bogs then I let go give it a few quick revs then it’s ok again, that’s why I feel like it’s something todo with vacuum and flooding
NO-MODZ__WARF4R3 yes that sounds like the problem I was having with my sons so change the petrol tap then change the oil again and all, should be fine 😃
Just a bit of lateral thinking, why isn't your son fixing the problem. I would never have dreamed of asking my father to fix my bike problems when I was 18.....just a thought....xx

Is the overflow tube beside the choke or is it the tube closer to the bowl help plsss
Andrew Adams hi mate as far as I recall it’s the one near the choke assembly
@@BikeMates the one underneath or to the left of its a bit hard to figure out can't get much info on the matter

On mine it don’t
Arron Davies yes when sucking on the vacuum fuel flowed from the petrol line
