Goodbye Carpet, Hello Hardwood!!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 чер 2023
- It is finally time to tear out the old and dirty green carpet! We know that there is hardwood underneath, but have no idea what condition it is in or if it is severely damaged. We are both hopeful and nervous for what we might find. Tag along as we find out!!
Thank you for watching and hopefully you found the video helpful!

"Don't get my feet, nothing for free." 🤣🤣 Bianca has a wicked sense of humour.
She really does haha!
That hard wood flooring throughout the whole house that was preserved with carpet all these years is a gift from God. It’s worth thousands of dollars!!! Sand it and use it a light and bright color. The reason there’s wall-to-wall carpet down is because it became all the rage in the 60’s. It’s orange because that’s just what color hardwood floors were.
We are so lucky and the floors seem to be in great condition! Thanks for the feedback Beth!
You lucked out on flooring!
What amazes me is that this gorgeous floor is thought the house. Not just a single or two room. They licked out on that and is was preserved superb due to the porn carpet
I absolutely love the current format, it's cute and very entertaining to watch. Don't get me wrong, I ALSO love the step-by-step process videos as well! I think both are really good, and it's awesome to have options for your viewers. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for the feedback! Once we have a fully completed project like a bedroom or bathroom, I plan to make a more step by step video
Haha, did you say "don't get my feet, nothing for free"? Hilarious. I like the banter, reminds me of my wife and I. Keep this format.
Yup 😂 Glad you the content!!
A good shop vac is absolutely a mvp tool, up there with the cordless impact, skill saw, tape measure and five in one tool.
It makes all the difference. Having an inferior shop vac is such a nuisance
I like the shout out on favorite tools and supplies -- it's a timesaver for me! Clapping is good too.
Thank you! When a tool works perfectly as intended, it makes all the difference 👏
I really like the way Grant gives the step by step approach to doing builds. When I like a project I can go step by step with him and achieve the same results. For me that’s paramount.
Thanks Jai, really appreciate the feedback!
Big win for you two with that gorgeous hardwood! Can't wait to see what you'll do with it.
We are so lucky! Excited to show you the refinishing process!
"Nothing for free" 😂
The floor looks so good omg
😂 Thank you!!
I love the renovation content.
Thank you! More coming soon!
Floors will look FANTASTIC when finished. Great job all around guys. Remember, never give up, never surrender!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Thank you so much! Can't wait to show you the finished product!
All that hardwood flooring preserved over the decades. You should be able to sand and stain that flooring to the desired color.
We are so lucky and glad they look to be in good condition. We can't wait to refinish them!
So satisfying to watch that carpet come off and see good quality floorboards underneath! Great ep!
Thanks Tony, glad you enjoyed it! The sanding in the next episode will be even more satisfying
I saw Naperville up in the description! Not too far from you up in Elgin! Really great to see someone from Illinois creating this kind of content!
What a small world! And thank you!
Your current format is great! You two are making good progress on the renovation, and the video was awesome video today!
Thanks Sharon and we appreciate the feedback!
Вам, хлопці, дуже пощастило, ці дерев’яні підлоги в чудовому стані. You guys are very lucky, those wood floors are in great condition.
Нам дуже пощастило! Ми з радістю покажемо вам процес лакофарбового покриття! We are very lucky! We are excited to show you the refinishing process!
Great video! Can't wait to see the finished "light" floors! It would be cool if hardwood was under the lino in the kitchen.
Thanks Debby! We wish the same put it looks to be just plywood unfortunately
I would actually like to see more personal and behind the scenes content about your renovations
Thanks for the feedback Verna! We will try to incorporate more behind the scenes in future episodes
I’d love to hear your plans or thought processes, but also don’t want to make more work for you guys! Love your stuff :)
Thanks for the feedback! We will try to incorporate that in future episodes
I'm actually shocked how good and sexy that floor looked un prepped and uncovered by carpet. Dang
I just stumbled onto your channel have have started binge watching already. I’m buying a house now and there’s some carpet coming out of it. Hopefully I get as lucky as you two have been.
One bit of hopefully constructive criticism, please look at the camera lens when filming things like the outro. I know I’m not alone when I say some people find it painful to see people looking just to the side of the camera where there’s usually a screen. Y’all do great on camera, film first and watch it later, I promise it’ll be a better result than trying to do both at the same time.
Anyhow, fantastic work on the house so far, I’m loving the series already!
Thank you so much and welcome aboard! Appreciate the feedback!
I like the actual format of your videos!
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback Florian!
I love your format. I vote for not changing a thing with your videos.
The white the white oak color for the floor Bianca mentioned sounds awesome.
Thanks for the feedback Sarah! And yes, we are going light with the floors!
So satisfying!! Looks great 🎉🎉
Thanks Steph!
First time watching your channel & before I finished the 1st video (this is my 3rd) I subscribed. Easy to learn diy installs with personal add-in commentary (LOVED the sarcasm on the floor being fine & Grant’s small eye roll “I promise” response, lol) I especially love not having to watch a hundred videos before seeing the actual results, whether it’s in part or complete…you give enough to see the difference & I greatly appreciate that! Congrats on your new home…look forward to seeing how it changes over time.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We really appreciate the feedback and we're glad you find the videos both entertaining and helpful!! Welcome aboard!
the floors look great. I really like watching you demo and look forward to reno. keep it coming!
Thank you Linda! Will do!
Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video, love seeing the progress on both here and IG. I like this format of video and step by step when you do something unique or different, those are good to learn. Excited to see you sand the floors!!
Thank you so much for the feedback Matthew! I think that's a great idea on when to use each type of format. We are excited to show you how the floors turned out!
Love the videos how they are!
Thanks for the feedback - glad you enjoy them!
This is pretty good. :) Nice to see some hardwood coming back out in the open.
We are so excited too! Thanks for watching!
Crazy how people would cover up such nice hardwood floors with hideous carpet
Right?! At least the carpet helped to preserve them 😅
Salt also keeps ants out
Thanks for the tip! So far we don't see any bugs
I've used salt in the past for bugs also. Keep an eye out
Thanks for the tip! So far we don’t see any but we’ll be on the lookout now 👀
That "salt" also could've been for a bed bug infestation
So far there haven’t been any issues 😅
I think you guys should make your videos longer and kind of alternate between step by step and behind the scenes and personal. Just put it all in there. I don't like pretentious videos where everything goes without a hitch, and everything is just flawless first time around. That's kind of...plastic. But all in all, I do love your videos. I watched the Lakehouse series too and also you did a penthouse or something for a friend right...? But yeah, I would like more content. Also nice to see Bianca and the doggy more featured in the videos. (What's the doggy's name again? Sorry...I forget...)
PS I'm so glad you got rid of those horrible green carpets! The floor has A LOT of potential! Gona watch that video now! Hehe
Thank you so much for all the feedback and the pup is named Olive!
Go lighter with floors definitely. They will be beautiful.
Great minds think alike 😉
Salt could be used to keep ants out also
Thanks for the tip! So far we don’t see any but we’ll be on the lookout now 👀
I like
Me too haha!
It’s so weird how the old people put carpet over beautiful hardwood floor maybe it was cold for there feet lol
😂 who knows
8:52 lol
Haha!
We need at least one clap (from each of you) per video!
We will see what we can do Robby haha!
First, you need to buy yourself some knee pads. Second, you guys need to reincorporate the salt somehow.
We have knee pads for for got to use them haha! And will do on the salt lol
Can you upload videos everyday..?
I wish haha!
@@GoldenKeyDesign videos like daily vlogging
@@Siddharth_Kapoor22 We are thinking about doing weekly videos again, but that's probably the highest frequency we could realistically achieve haha
Why on earth people choose to put god awful coloured carpet over beautiful hardwood floors, astonishes me.
We have no idea either 😅
Get cove toe molding. Thank me later.
Absolutely not. Base shoe, no other choice.
We are probably leaning quarter round or base shoe
@@GoldenKeyDesign base shoe good too. Hate quarter round.
Who was ever so dumb to put karpet on that floor.....
No idea haha!
Raise the floor in the LV -- people are going to fall
We actually raised a sunken living room at the project before this one (The Lake House Project). In this case we plan to keep it since we like having the extra tall ceilings and we don't want to cover up all that hardwood
I liked it better before…jk
Haha!
One of my favorite series right now! A natural oak finish would look great with the wall color.
Thank you so much! I think a natural oak would look great!
