Oooo … you are sooo good! I’ve had a set of Bamboo Tunisian Hooks for a good 30+ years and never had the courage to try it! I’ve done many different crafts during my 80 years but, never have I seen such a good teacher for Needle crafts! I’ve always done knitting and simple crochet and now age is catching me up, I thought I would enjoy more leisurely projects and watched a few YT Tutorials. Most of them go too fast, working too fast for us slowbees, but you have beaten ‘em all in popularity! I just bought your book, rooted out the bamboo pins, got mi’ yarn so ……. ready when you are, lovely lady!
I'm 67 and discovered Toni and Tunisian crochet recently. She is an excellent teacher! I bought her book too and think I'll buy one for a Christmas present for a friend. Toni is a natural teacher! ❤
Love the heart decals on your nails! Thank you for all your videos and being a great teacher for all crafters to continue to grow and learn new techniques and stitches!
I’ve been crocheting for years but then I learned Tunisian Crochet from your videos and I love it! You are a really good teacher! I love the basket weave stitch so I relearned knitting so I could do this stitch. I’m thrilled to see you do a basket weave stitch tutorial for Tunisian crochet! Thank you so much!
I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. You explain in details up front and I “get it!” right away. I’m definitely going to try this and WHO KNEW blocking would look good like THAT!
I am 73 years & been crocheting since I was about 25 but never heard about Tunisian early on so never tried. But seeing how easy you make it seem, I am definitely going to give it a try. You can teach an old dog new tricks...Thank you Toni!
I'm 71 and only started crocheting in my mid40s and only knew basic stitch for years. I'm having fun now learning more from this good instructor! Keep on learning keeps you young at heart.!
I am so excited to try this after watching your last tunision crochet video. I have loved learning the crochet basketweave stitch but fell in love when i saw this one.
I have long known how to crochet since I was a young boy, and I have been casually learning to knit over the past few years, but I have never yet tackled Tunisian crochet. When I came across your channel a few days ago, and was so enthralled with your enthusiasm, that I could no longer resist! I subscribed to your channel and ordered a set of corded hooks, which should be here tomorrow. I am so excited! They aren't the beauties that you are using in this video, as I would like, but they will do the job well until I can upgrade with a better set. I am a stickler for having the right tool for the job, and the ones that please me, too! I am so excited to be expanding my skills with you and your content! 🤩🥰
I am in love with this stitch! I'm actually making my daughters Bitty Baby a blanket using cotton yarn for her little basinet! It's turning out great! Thanks, Toni!
@@susanrussell8195 I bought two pillow inserts because they were cheaper than buying one. I made one case already and that other insert is sitting there, staring at me, tempting me to surround it with something pretty 🤣
That looked like it was going to be so complicated, but as always, you explain so clearly. I was looking for a new dishcloth stitch, so thank you! And yes, Harry's work is amazing. Those nails are gorgeous! 😍
And the answer to the question "what stitch am I using for my cushion cover project?" has been answered. And I've got some adorable wooden heart buttons I can style it out with. Thank you Toni. 😊
Thank you for inspiring me to crochet! I love how clear and precise your instructions are. You make it so easy to understand. Especially for someone that has no clue. ❤ And yes, gorgeous nails!! 🦄
Yeah, another stitch to put in my toolbox. I'm envisioning making a two-tone basket using this basketweave stitch. The yarns would be bulky or 2 strands. One tone for the knit stitches, while the other is slightly lighter or darker in tone for the reverse stitch. I've used the mosaic technique before wirh tunisian stitches. Yes, there would be more "balls" of yarn. It is cleaner and not so hard to do. Once you get the hand of it. When switching colors, tuck the current leading yarn under the yarn. By tucking as you go, the process is easier and a lot less stress. I've discovered that if you set up an assembly line system, you will stay tangle free. I gerryrigged a box with dividers for each ball of yarn. The box contains the project. When done for the day, secure your last stitch, place the project in the box, and put said project away until another day. Happy making 😊
Bonsoir 😁 merci beaucoup pour ce tuto vos explications sont claires. J'essaierai car très intéressant. Vos créations me plaisent beaucoup. Bonne soirée.
I love this stitch. Have made a few very simple rectangle shawls with it that have become my favourite shawls. I use pearl stitches though, instead of the reverse stitches. Am going to save this and do one with the reverse stitch next time. Thnx gal!
Thank you so much Toni. I've learnt Tunisian from you and I'm trying to teach a couple of friends but we couldn't figure out which 2 stitches at the end, after watching today I actually got it,yeah.😊
Your instructions are so clear and easy to follow😍I'm glad you are showing us this stitch too as it's one of my favorites. Can this be used in a triangle shawl?
Because Tunisian hooks cannot be ergonomic, I have not tried it, but I so want to! I did purchase one larger hook. I'm thinking that your pattern here made in Cotton, would make an excellent hot pad for the kitchen! I love your videos!
I just watched one of her videos talking about how to avoid the curling. There are several helpful hints that not only help alleviate the curl but also having squared, flat fabric that might help you out. Check her page for the video.
You may need to block your piece(s) when done to help remove the slant and curl. I just learned Tunisian/Afghan crochet a little over a year ago and absolutely prefer it over regular crochet.
😂 I was going to comment "this looks a bit past my current capability, and I love your nails!" and then you mentioned how awesome your manicurist is. I totally agree! Your nails are so pretty and kept distracting me.
Love your channel. I’ve been learning to crochet the last 3 months. Started with making a bunch of granny squares that I’m sewing into a cardigan then made some amigurumi. But I want to make a tank top Do you have a summer tank crochet tutorial or pattern?
I would love to see you do this with your new QZLKNIT TC hooks. You really impressed us with the unboxing and review, but you aren’t using them on screen.🤷🏽♀️ Also we really would like to know what weight of yarn is your favorite to TC with. Inquiring Minds want to know 😂
I just used my QZLKNIT hooks for this and I can tell you, they are awesome! The metal is so smooth the project just glides back and forth plus, the very pointed end makes the back loop stitches so easy to do! I'll probably buy another set to do Tunisian in the round. They come in gold now too (more expensive) and you can also buy additional cables from the seller. 😊
@@drumroady1 I got my set this week on Wednesday. I did my unboxing video first, and was about to upload it when something said” Take a better look.” And I did. I found that the tips on 4 hooks were either chipped or never got plated in the nickel. And the 10mm, the middle section, never go moved to the polishing station. It still has machine marks I can feel 😒 I notified QZLKNIT and they have already mailed my replacements for the 5 hooks. Meanwhile, I started my son’s Star Trek: TNG Commander Away jacket. I’m using the 7mm, and in Toni’s words: “ HONEEY!👍🏽” 😂. I love them even though they are damaged, but on the up side I now will have 5 extra hooks to use as double wired 💯😊
It's probably because, as she's said before in videos, she reaches for Sewrella's Tunisian set every time, those are her favorite. Those are her most used hook sets.
Hi Toni!! Did you think for your next book you could make sampler blocks in your yarn in Tunisian crochet we could mix and match to put together for blankets in whatever size we like? I would love that book so much!!
I have tried to learn crocheting several times ( from books) and I have never been able to get it right. My squares always had two good sides and the other two were rounded 🙄🙄🙄 Being left handed didn’t help either I’m sure. Your explanations are so clear, simple and precise! I may try to tackle it again with this type of crochet. Thank you so much for sharing!
She isn’t. If you watch carefully, you can sometimes see the end of the hook. You might think it’s a thin, green bracelet on her right wrist but it is actually a cord attached to the Tunisian hook. The method of attaching flexible cords to like it is done with knitting needles has been adapted to Tunisian hooks. Hope this helps.
Melody, as Susan said, it is a corded hook. That way you can make the item as big as you want since the stitches slip onto the cord. All your stitches wouldn’t fit on a regular hook. 😎
There are Tunisian projects you can do with a regular crochet hook. I'm currently working on an Tunisian Entrelac afghan that I started with a regular hook. I ended up buying a set of Tunisian hooks with interchangeable cables so I can do bigger projects. BUT, I can say that regular hooks aren't designed the same as Tunisian. Tunisian hooks are more pointed with a deeper cut behind the hook which makes it much easier to work with. You can absolutely learn with a regular hook to see if you like Tunisian and want to spend the money on new hooks.
@@drumroady1 Exactly. Like this sample could have been done on a regular crochet hook because it is so small. When I first started doing Tunisian crochet (Afghan crochet) back in the early 80’s, they didn’t have the corded hook. The larger afghans were squares or rectangles sewn together to make the size desired.
I wanted to make a man scarf using the basket stitch.... bit i was doing it like knitting, so i would pearl x 4, and tunsian stitch x 4. That's a knitter for you😂...It did't look bad, but i like your version better. Love your channel & missing Momma Gwen

Hi I didn’t know I could do Tunisian crochet, I’m not great at it. The only problem I have is it comes out crooked but I don’t give up.
Try using stitch markers to help keep track of stitcheso
Depending of the pattern it might also be your tension, the tighter your yarn, the more it slants. Try using a bigger hook
