Toni I love this series! You single-handedly taught me that there is more to yarn than worsted weight acrylic, and for that I will always be grateful lol
@@elizabethprimeau3286 every time I start looking at yarn, I have to remind myself that I have PLENTY that I need to work through before I get more. I hate clutter and am pretty minimalist… but yarn is kryptonite 🙃
Emma, I agree. I have never given much thought beyond color, texture, and size. This thought me I need to learn more about yarns and threads more beyond the basics.
Toni, I love your yarn reviews. I appreciate that you do a nice swatch and recommend an appropriate hook type. I like how indepth you discuss the yarn pros and cons. So many yarn reviews just show the yarn just show the yarn and give stats. I want to see yarn worked up to better understand how to appropriately select yarns for my projects. Thank you for your reviews..you are my go to person for all things crochet.
TL, thank for this series. I am looking forward to getting your book. The one thing that became glaringly clear to me in this series is that there is more to yarn than I have ever given (or had time to give) thoughts to. Perhaps, you could do another book on the different yarns and what crochet hooks, stitches, and patterns that suit each best. I now want to learn more because of you. Crocheting was just a hobby, I got a lot of joy from making blankets for those I love. This year I want to start making other things and to be honest, I get a little stuck. You are such a pleasure to watch, you truly love doing this, it shows and it is infectious! Now I want to take it to the next level. Thank you for putting out such informative and easy to understand videos. The knowledge you have in your craft is obvious and it has inspired me to learn more.
Subscribed! The way you presented and explained the pros and cons of these yarns and what project would work for each...👌🏾 Loved the yarn snob review even though none of these yarns can be found in my country! 😀
Outstanding review. Thank you so much. Question: what is the purpose of distributing limited edition yarns? It just doesn’t make sense to me that if one or several of these yarns are good sellers, that they would be taken off the market. If it’s some kind of business gimmick, I sure don’t like it.
The silk they have in "A Touch of Silk" looks to be silk noil, those tweedy bits in the yarn give it away. Silk noil is the shorter fiber that is left over from making silk fabric so it doesn't have the soft and shiny quality like the pulled silk you normally think of. It has a bumpy texture and feels a bit more like cotton in texture. Landscape breeze is so gorgeous, thanks for sharing these!
@@TLYarnCrafts That silk noil is probably where the smell comes from. I have several skeins of 100% silk noil yarn, and they all have that strange smell.
I made a 100% silk noil dress once. It was wearable, luxurious, unique material and lasted for yrs and yrs. It didn't feel anything like you expect "silk ", that is not slippery or drapey. I guess it is just enough silk noil to add the.nubs to texture the yarn. Thanks for the reviews. Love to listen to you.
Walked into Joann’s and found landscapes breeze and immediately fell in love with it. I made my sister a pretty long scarf with only 4-5 little skeins in Willow and I made a small dog sweater in a different color. The color transitions are amazing! I’m just sad that it’s all sold out online. Can’t wait until they restock. :)
i used the faux mo in the charcoal color to crochet a sweater vest! i doubled up the strands and it turned out really light weight and soft! it is affectionately called my dust bunny vest
Wow, as a hand spinner I am very impressed with your critique of the average/ or above average retail yarn. I've just rolled a one pound ball of yarn mixed with scrapes of everything. Merino, Jacob, finland, hand dyed, hand spun, art yarn , nylon, mohair acrilic. Every random yarn you could think of in a cornucopia of textures and colors. The end results are one of a kind artistry. Hang on to all of it. You can never underestimate how a simple yarn can make a project pop. All of us fiber artists are amazing creators. Your information is so real. It doesn't shame anything just reads the medium for how it hooked. Love it.
The scrubby yarn surprised me, to be honest. I've never seen a skein of this type of yarn before, ever! And that it was soft on your skin REALLY surprised me. Am dumbfounded why Lionbrand would develop a singular, niche yarn like this only for a limited time frame. It seems to me if it is successful, they should continue to make it since it is the one yarn no one else ever makes. That Landscapes yarn reminds me of a yarn you used about 18 months ago in another review, but I think that one was a cotton yarn. Thank you once again for being such an amazing presenter. I adore your channel!
Probably exactly as you stated, it's limited as a test period. If it sells well they'll likely enter a very similar kind (most likely adjusted a bit according to feedback) to their permanent line
I happened to find several skeins of the scrubby yarn in the bargain bin at my local JoAnne's- and I have ZERO complaints about it. I'm generally extremely bad with crochet- for years I couldn't even maintain tension, or keep track of stiches, always fighting the yarn (and what do you know, it's always been the cheapest of worsted weight acrylic). But the scrubby yarn? Love it. A little hard to manage the first few stiches, but that's understandable, and after that it's dead simple. So much so I've made a few scrubbies from it, and usually have at least one for use in the shower. It really is fairly soft on the skin while working it up as well
This is amazing--my joints aren't playing nice with me so I can't crochet right now (my WIP basket is just starting at me) even with my finger braces, so I love getting to watch this
Sorry to hear about your joints 😪 I've got badly misshapen fingers with arthritic joints but fortunately not too painful, just make me clumsy. Hope your pain eases soon x
I hope you'll be able to crochet again soon! I haven't been able to crochet for over a week due to pain. Hope all of us spoonies can get some good health days so we can crochet the days away :)
I feel bad your hands hurt and have stopped you from doing what you love. I too have stopped crocheting because of my finger joints. I have never heard of finger braces before. Where can I buy them???

Double checked the Landscapes Breeze - it's got 20% wool, not cotton. I'm trying to find non-wool colorful options for my daughter. Off to look for another yarn. Love how you review yarns- from softness, colour range, workability, price etc. Many thanks!
If you find any, let me know. Wool has the BEST color options but I don’t typically need or want wool for the types of projects I normally make. It’s a struggle!

Just ordered several skeins of the Lazy Days yarn. Exactly what I’ve been looking for for several purse/tote projects. Super excited! Thanks for sharing!!!
I’ve been going through a little bit of a depressive episode where I’ve lost my joy in yarn and crocheting… I really wanna try some of these yarns now which makes me really happy. So thanks for putting these videos out 🥰
What a fun and informative review! ( I also found myself reading your shirt over and over, and taking deep breaths. I guess I really needed to de-stress! 😀) I really want to try the Landscape Breeze and the Lazy Days. Thank you!
Hello Toni, I’m a new subscriber to your channel and I have to say I am hooked! I have been binge watching your videos and especially your reviews on yarns and find them extremely helpful. I’m very fussy about yarn and tend to get held up due to my lack of knowledge on them and what they are best for. The one question that consistently came to mind while watching your videos is, wow I wonder if she has ever thought about coming out with her own line of yarn. You seem to really have a full rounding of yarn, it takes someone like you to create well loved and appreciated products that people like me would buy. Fingers crossed that someday I’ll see Toni’s brand online and on shelves. I swear if you already do, OMG, where do I go to buy it!!
I have nearly every color of the Landscapes Breeze yarn. The only color I am missing is due to a shipping error. I love chain spun yarn and the watercolor type colors are my kind of colors.
These reviews are so helpful, as an intermediate crocheter who’s finally able to branch into hooks that aren’t metal, the info on which hook works best is great!
I’ve used some other Lion brand yarn that said it was category 4 like Faux Mo and definitely wasn’t. I emailed them and asked what was up with that, they said they purposefully categorize it as a 4 so that you treat it that way and get a lace-like effect. 🤷🏻♂️
I just ordered your book on Amazon ♥️ I didn't even look to see what it's about! But wanted to make sure I got a copy. I'm just learning how to crochet tunisian..
I love these videos, even though I'm really not in a position to drop money on yarn willy nilly. I hope Landscape Breezes sticks around. That one seems great!
* * * From this first video of yours that I've seen, you are NOT a yarn snob, you are a intelligent fiber artist with a deep knowledge of all aspects or your craft. You are personable and can express your opinions and the reasons for them clearly and well. I have subscribed based on this one video which I have never done before, and am looking forward to diving into the playlists. * * * Also, I LOVE the way you class the yarns correctly by saying "Category 4, worsted weight" yarn instead of a definitive and misleading "Size 4, medium" as other poorly educated, less savvy UA-camrs do. It just came to me to comment on some of the other crochet channels, "Please visit TL Yarn Crafts and educate yourself." (But that would be bitchy and I never would!) 😇
Hi from England Toni! Well, technically in Philly right now! Thanks for your reviews! They are so great! I love how you think about how yarn feels against the skin in use and give hook recommendations. Love love love your channel, please keep the content coming 💕
I loved this video! May I ask if the Lazy Days has the inner polyfil stuffing like Bernat Home Maker yarn? You said it was comparable but I wasn’t sure if it had the stuffing inside the tube of the yarn. Thank you for making this video!
I am actually a very long time knitter and a big yarn snob. Would never buy non-animal yarns but I just was blessed with a brand new grandson. As I am older I have decided to start to crochet again and have found your channel so refreshing. Love your reviews. I am going to return that cake yarn that you really gave a thumbs done and I am sure you are right. I have to go and check out some of your beginner stitches and Tunisian videos. Thank you so much
Hi Toni! I watched this when you released the video and wa sso sad I couldn't find Lazy Days anywhere! Well GUESS WHAT! I found it at my local yarn shop finally! I'm in Canada and my nearest store is called Len's Mills Store and they finally carry Lazy days! 7.49 a ball but it's EASILY become my FAVORITE yarn ive ever used!!! I've been making granny squares with it I have almost every single color (and multiple balls of it!) It's seriously an incredible yarn!!! I just had to come share that I'm finally able to enjoy Lazy Days and you were the one who introduced it to me!!
I never smell yarns, but if they have an odor when they come out of boxes or bags, then I might have an issue with it. The lazy days really looks amazing worked up. I loooooooove the faux MO cuz size 1 and 2 weight fibers are my go to weights!! I love making lacey things.
Thank you so much Toni⚘️ for your reviews of these yarns and others! I get soooo much out of them! I appreciate the time you put into them and take to answer the questions we would normally think of to ask about! Thank you bunches! 🌸🌼🌷💕
Oooh I've been curious about the Fo Mo. This really helped me see what it's like - so glad to have a synthetic version for those of us with allergies to animal fibers.
I really appreciate your reviews for these yarns. I saw them and not sure if I should get some or not. Now I know. Not to mention I really appreciate the tips about when to use the metal or wood hooks. I really thought it was a preference. I didn't realize it could effect my gage. Thank you so much. 😊
Love the colors in Landscape Breeze, clicked on the link to Lion Brand and it's all sold out! Hopefully, they will restock soon. Thanks for showcasing these beautiful yarns. So many lovely yarns, so little time.
Hi Toni, thank you so much for your yarn reviews. I love the depth and breadth of your testing each one and trust your ranking since you are so eloquent in describing why you are ranking the yarn the way you do.
Thanks for this! I just picked up the Stitch Soak Scrub because of this video. I worked it up in a grit stitch, with a fingering weight cotton to make shower exfoliating cloth and I love it!
Great reviews! I'll have to check out that Faux Mo, I can't handle mohair unfortunately. I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one going into Joanne's for one thing and coming out with a ton of stuff!
Thank you so much for making this series! Yawn can be so intimidating and this is the easiest way to learn. I can tell you put so much thought and effort into these!✨
I think this is the best yarn review series on UA-cam ❤️🥰. I want every single one on those Landscapes colorways!! Thanks again for an amazing review 😘
I think the scrubby yarn would be great for dishes, but I saw they put out a pattern for a bath pouf and I thought that was funny. That's one thing I'll just buy from Walmart for $1 instead... As soon as I saw the chenille I had to buy some to make amigurumi with, can't wait to work it up.
I know I'm seeing this video after it's been up for 2 years (just started knitting/crochet a few weeks ago) but at roughly 7:25 when you said "give us this yarn", I immediately thought "our daily thread" haha. Love your videos and glad to have found your channel!
You crack me up! N thanks for the review bout the cotton shower loufas! I was like, "am I the only one who's loufas are 70 lbs!" How!?? Lol lol that was great, I agree, you CANNOT WASH WISH THOSE THINGS! I'm so glad I tested one before making a shit ton for gifts! Thanks you rock! Your videos ALWAYS CHEER ME UP! especially when I'm thinking maybe I should quit crochet. You inspire me to keep keepin' on. God bless! Love from a teeny town in Montana, RASHAUNA K. KOVACICH:')
This video popped upon my list and although I had watched it before … I watched it again. And at the end of the video you talk about your book offering signed copies. I have desired to own your book since its release but there is usually more month left than money so I have not done so yet ! But I am I interested in knowing if signed copies are ever available ?
At first I was buying yarn from offer up and Marketplace on Facebook , and got some incredible yarns! I had no idea how to use them, so I donated 15 huge tubs of yarn (collected over a period of a year) I finally found a sweater pattern that I want to make and it's of course in yarn that I can't find! Ugh! 5 ply yarn from Germany and Spain with no English subs or price tags..so off on a hunt I go! What would you recommend for a bulky yarn weight 5 for a modern oversize sweater? BTW I subscribed today!
This is an old video, but I only recently discovered your channel. I want to do one of your Tunisian patterns (that really cute kitchen set). And pausing here and there while watching this video I found a hook set on Amazon, and of course Amazon is now giving me Tunisian crochet book recommendations. Pressed play on the video again and I recognized your book cover from Amazon! Oh look, that's going on my wishlist. :D
Do you have a video for making the checked pattern you’re using to demo Lazy Days? I love your videos, and I just recently bought extra-large, extra-long wooden needles to do a beginner project in Tunesian! Now it’s 2 AM and I want to watch all your videos AND buy your book. Oy! Here’s to more women of color in the Supreme Court, and on UA-cam How-to-Crochet videos. Love from California!
😂😂😂😂 Touch of silk!!!! I think it's raw silk, which is rough and stinky. 😄😄😄👍 And the cotton sounds like it's that cheap lily & cream dishrag type of cotton. I have felt it before and got super excited at the title, but once I felt it, I already knew.....Nope, not unless it's for a bag. Js
Yes, I know this video is old but I'm here to add my .3¢. I purchased the Stitch Soak Scrub. I make bath and body products and I figured your review was good, I should give it a try. I offer crochet clothes, so why not add a scrubby. I took the plunge and decided to follow you and made them in Tunisian. It was challenging to begin, but it came out alright. It is not the most fun to work with, but it is fun seeing the creations... So yes, I will make up a few and see how they're received. Thanks Toni.
Toni, I have been crocheting for years; took a very loooong break, recently came back. Watched quite a few of your wonderful happy videos. My mom unfortunately did not understand either. I saw some of your gorgeous projects during this video. I would love to try to create a sweater or long jacket but I’m afraid to purchase all the yarn and not be able to finish. Right now I’m working on getting down granny squares and creating amurgami. Do you have any suggestions??? Why don’t you come over for coffee/tea and we can have a fun day lol lol. I’m in sunny FL. Anyway thank you my friend ❤gayle
Touch of silk. I know this is a year old, but that smell is actually silk. Lol. I spin yarn and silk has an... Odd.... smell 🤣😂 The silk in this yarn is simply there for texture with the cotton. It's not for feel as a whole. It's how they get away with price gouging, unfortunately.

At the joann store by me has it if you buy 3 you get 1 free (Greenfield wisconsin)
Great reviews! I especially liked the viewer questions you answered!
I loved this video! May I ask if the Lazy Days has the inner polyfil stuffing like Bernat Home Maker yarn? You said it was comparable but I wasn’t sure if it had the stuffing inside the tube of the yarn. Thank you for making this video!
Great video so informative, loving the landscapes breeze works up so pretty. I'm a sucker for that kind of yarn too. All the best from South Wales UK
I really love your yarn reviews. It’s great to see what they’re like made up and your description of how they feel. Your style is so engaging.
I really enjoy learning about new yarns on the market. And your reviews are the most informative!
Thanks for these and all your crochet prowess!!
New yarn review! I look forward to seeing your yarn reviews, it makes my day :D
I love your review. I love your honest view point.
Great review, Toni! Thank you.
Great review! The Lazy Days one looks like one I'd love to try!
TY … what is the first stitch u used when testing Touch of Silk?
You make me want to run to the store right now. Thank you for the wonderful review!
Thanks for your honest review. I enjoy listening to you and watching you crochet. Thanks for sharing your time and talent with us.
I never smell yarns, but if they have an odor when they come out of boxes or bags, then I might have an issue with it. The lazy days really looks amazing worked up. I loooooooove the faux MO cuz size 1 and 2 weight fibers are my go to weights!! I love making lacey things.
That's how raw silk is
Thank you so much Toni⚘️ for your reviews of these yarns and others! I get soooo much out of them! I appreciate the time you put into them and take to answer the questions we would normally think of to ask about! Thank you bunches! 🌸🌼🌷💕
So you fell into that same vortex in Joann’s that seems to get me when I go in for one thing! 😂. Love your yarn reviews!
These yarn snob videos are so valuable!! 😊 Thank you so much for them.
Love this series! 💚 I wonder if you could melt the end of Lazy Days like paracord? Maybe weave in some and then melt it to the wrong side of the item.
You always do a great job at making the yarn sound poetic and i love your voice. Please review all yarns available on the planet 😂
Love the colors in Landscape Breeze, clicked on the link to Lion Brand and it's all sold out! Hopefully, they will restock soon. Thanks for showcasing these beautiful yarns. So many lovely yarns, so little time.
I love your reviews! I’m a knitter, and go by your word as gospel, for yarn. I thank you so much!
Hi Toni, thank you so much for your yarn reviews. I love the depth and breadth of your testing each one and trust your ranking since you are so eloquent in describing why you are ranking the yarn the way you do.
I love your yarn reviews!! Cant wait to watch this while crocheting
I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one going into Joanne's for one thing and coming out with a ton of stuff!
it happens to the best of us, lol
Oooh, thanks for bringing these to our attention! Love the Landscape breeze colors!
Omg!! You're back!!
as a vegan, faux mo is so exciting to see!!!
I love this series! Your honesty is so refreshing. I’m definitely interested in trying the mohair and the chenille appeal. Thanks as always Toni 💜😊
Love this content 💕 so inspiring ✨ thank you for your hard work 👏💝
My husband surprised me with your book! It's wonderful. Thank you writing such an easy to understand book.
Wow, that is so cool! What a sweet gift, and I'm so glad you're enjoying it :-)
I think the scrubby yarn would be great for dishes, but I saw they put out a pattern for a bath pouf and I thought that was funny.
God bless! Love from a teeny town in Montana,
RASHAUNA K. KOVACICH:')
Thank you 😊 so much for sharing your expertise. I'm fairly new to crochet and learning about fiber arts.
This video popped upon my list and although I had watched it before … I watched it again. And at the end of the video you talk about your book offering signed copies. I have desired to own your book since its release but there is usually more month left than money so I have not done so yet ! But I am I interested in knowing if signed copies are ever available ?
DOUBLE IT.?.?? FROG it?? 😂😂😂😂 what the heck does that mean???
PLEASE DO NOT "AX" your friends !!! Although prison means a great deal of time to crochet, it would be a shame to find you there !
Toni, I have been crocheting for years; took a very loooong break, recently came back. Watched quite a few of your wonderful happy videos. Of course I am getting use to crocheting again but also wanting to widen my experience. I have learned and now understanding much more. My question is one of the very 1st projects I attempted was back in the day (😂) a beautiful navy blue fishnet vest. Unfortunately I got as far as attempting the arm holes and was unable to complete.
Odd.... smell 🤣😂
The silk in this yarn is simply there for texture with the cotton. It's not for feel as a whole. It's how they get away with price gouging, unfortunately.
