  • One of the parts on my list to get installed and we have done it. Something that I want to focus on right now with the car is stiffening up the suspension, chassis and drive train and well that means mounts and bushings my friends so lets get into it. In this video I will show you how to Install a Rear Diff Carrier, What tools you need to do so and we will go on a short drive to review this thing!

    So many videos on engine modifications, nice to see driveline one 👍. What is increased power good for if you can't get to the ground? Been looking at Cusco and Beatrush rear Diff carrier but the CNC aluminum of Torque Solutions looks superior and should be lighter. Welds can break and rust. Have you considered a carbon fiber driveshaft? Put a PST one on my WRX, $$$ but there is a mod that gets power to the ground.

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  5 років тому

      I've looked into them but right now can't justify getting a new driveshaft. The ROI is not quite there yet. Exactly I'm big on the drivetrain and suspension aspects of a car so wanted to get them out there. The Torque solutions carrier made a noticable difference and glad I got it. I was also looking at the Cusco but figured a machined 1 piece unit would be better.

    How'd you break the outer nuts on the diff carrier? Mine's just stuck like hell. I can't get a breaker bar long enough under the car and the nut just won't budge. I feel like I might round it off at that point so I'll just save that one for another day 😬

    I think you should try and sit closer to the wheel... ;)
    The ride along video from that potion is interesting, but I think you had too wide of a shot. That is one of the hardest things to do in video production with the constantly changing background and lighting conditions. (BTW, I've been working in the TV production industry for the past 27 years and have done this sort of thing many times. It's always hard.) But your wider shot makes your camera's (which Canon DSLR are you using?) metering system go nuts. The only trick that really works is to find a direction you can drive where there is no direct light coming in through the windshield and the background is in the shade. So driving North helps a lot or if its in the morning then driving West, but that puts the camera facing South from that position in the car. Like I said, In-car video is just hard. At least you are using a camera with changeable lenses.
    Thanks for yet another fun video!

      Appreciate the feedback! I forgot my VND at home when going out on this one lol I use a Canon EOS R with the 15-35mm for the most part, every now and then I'll swap to my 24-70. Before the sun came out and washed everything away it looked alright on my Atomos. I'll make sure to grab the VND next time so nothing gets co outlet washed out 😅 been learning videography for about 6 months now, along with editing (currently using premier pro). But theres so much to learn I love it! Always open to taking tips and tricks when it comes to shooting! 😁
