There are definitely some things that aren't reversible, but I do still think (at least at the time of writing this comment) that at least a large chunk of the damage is currently both preventable and reversible. It's just a matter of taking the steps required to actually begin doing so-something which I have considerably less optimism about, at least in the case of the United States. Still, though, I find it important to try and remain positive during situations like this-doomerism is neither a healthy ideology nor a helpful one. The inability/reluctance of the machine to be raged against, to recognize itself as the machine to be raged against, is usually a defining characteristic of the machine to be raged against. This can make it hard to prove the machine is the machine as opposed to simply being the other side, but when you’re the most wealthy man in the world, who’s ceo of a company receiving government funding, and who has openly admitted to directioning coups d’etat in the countries he bloodmines his non renewable resources from… yeah, you’re the machine in question buddy

    As someone who lives in Scandinavia here are some of the benefits you get from being in this system, i can not speak for all countries involved but they're pretty similar. Free school (obligatory, in highschool you might have to pay for lunch and the same goes for what I'd call collage but uni is free), free meals in school (until highschool and sometimes highschool), free dental and healthcare until your early 20s as well as "high cost insurance" on these things as well as most common prescribed medications, vacations and limits to how much you can legally work (this all varies a bit but yeah), unions that are hard to bust bc there's a long history of it and a bunch of other things too. I'm just a normal person from a family who's finances have fluctuated throughout my upbringing and things aren't perfect but I'd say it's nicer than living in the US, this security is something almost nobody would give up willingly. We do have high taxes (I don't know the differences between us and the US, it's like 28-30% in my specific region I think) but that kinda comes around and you benefit from it in the long run. Not to say that things aren't corrupt, where there's power and massive amounts of money there will always be corruption and politicians are the same no matter where you are but overall it's fine. Always strive for better though, things can always be better.

    Honestly, how is Ro so good at what she everything shown on her channel? Her music is amazing, her videos are such a wonderful, amazing, thought-provoking twist on the genre she's said she was inspired by, her acting in this is so good and genuine and the fights in this video remind me of real fights I've had with people before, her jokes are some of my favorites around and always make me laugh, her graphic design is beautiful and dream-like with hints of vaporwave at times, I genuinely want to learn how she creates the things she does; she just doesn't miss.

    One more thing about electric cars and buses VS trains: trains don't have to change tires every few months because they have metal wheels, and one tire change produces 32kg of CO2.

    • @georgeandrews1394
      @georgeandrews1394 Рік тому

      I'm in favour of public transportation. However, I'm not sure on that argument?
      For one, there are a lot of places that don't get snow and ice or get so little that they don't need to swap tires. For two, how does changing tires produce 32 kg of CO2? I get there's a cost to driving the car to the mechanic and many people can't do it at home, but then that's not much more than driving to another equally distant location.
      Unless you're talking about busses and the like having reduced lifespan on their tires due to constant wear and tear.

    • @merty5713
      @merty5713 Рік тому

      @@georgeandrews1394 Tires must be produced first, and the CO2 is released during production. I was specifically talking about electric buses, which have 6 tires, so it is 192 kg CO2 for each bus. As you said, they are always on the road so they need frequent change. Also, electric busses use lithium batteries: mining lithium eliminates the wild habitat in South America, you have fresh air in the US at the expense of wild life in South America. It is not a viable green solution, it is eco-colonialism.

    I know it was a framing device but holy SHIT that fight wrapped up every single argument I've had with my family for the past seven years. They say something wild, I think they're joking, they're very much NOT, they say they want me to talk, I try to say everything in the most unemotional straightforward way possible but can't because it's an issue that's causing real life harm to me and people I love, they fight tooth and nail to deny it because they want to preserve their chance at a child's fantasy that controversial thing presented to them, they get DEEPLY offended and take everything I said personally, and at the end I'm the bad guy who hurt their feelings and I'm also an unreasonable brainwashed overemotional child who can't have a conversation--which they scream while having a temper tantrum as I'm sitting there completely defeated and silent because I let them bait me into it fucking AGAIN.
    And the next time I see them I have to pretend like nothing happened because them preserving their dream of what they want the world to be is more important than trying to make the world a better place for as many people as possible......but also, more important to them than having a real relationship with me will ever be.
    It's fucking crushing and it's made me lose a LOT of compassion for people who get bitch-slapped the first time in their long lives the political becomes personal. Chances are it's BEEN personal for a very, very, very long time. They just chose to actively ignore those parts to make themselves feel better, at the expense of everyone around them, even the ones the deluded themselves into thinking they love.

    What I find most scary these times is that when I was around 14, 20 years ago, most of the teenagers around me had left leaning, anti war, pro human rights and an overall acceptance for diversity.
    Some were rebelling against their parents but I'm still too young to be in the group that actually rebelled against their square right wing parents.
    But now, since around 10 years back when the right wing wave started in EU and all around tbh, I instead see a ton of teens wanting to uphold the status quo.
    Which to me is super alarming because it means that things won't get better and on the extreme side they want to go back in time and make abortion illegal. Instead of the usual teen extreme side which maybe wanted gays to be able to get married and openly hated the king.
    + People, especially a bit older, they do not possess online critical thinking which makes them believe every single tiktok someone post on Facebook even if it is about some guy called Q an0n that tells them he's in the white house xDD.
    I think it is because they are so used to just believing what was on the local news when internet didn't exist.
    So they can't comprehend that the things they see isn't from a trusted network (if it ever was) but just a random delusional, or trolling, teen.
