Running in football and rugby is very different. In football you want to get as far as you can every time, or out of bounds to stop the clock, because your team restarts from where you're tackled. In rugby, if you get isolated, the other team will turn over the ball and have an open field to run into. In rugby you often run back into traffic and recycle the ball until you can create an overload, a gap or isolate a slow defender against a quick attacker. That's why this guy's so good, real rugby intelligence and the fitness to always be up with play

I really like your videos. It is quite fun to watch American people reacting to rugby and seeming to like it. I love American football, and soccer. But I think well played rugby is the most spectacular sport ever. And among all players, I am in love with Dupont lol
Dupont is obviously incredible, he's everywhere from the start to the conclusion of attacks. And this team is clearly one of the best we (french) have for decades. bth, this n°10 you like is N'Tamak, another great player. Thx 4 that vid ^^
Hi dude, rule number 1 in rugby team play : listen to your n°9 at 9:31 I think n°13 did not mess anything, he is trying to build his action with his team. At his right, he has an opening but no one to support him in case of trouble. At his left, it may seem way more dangerous, but he has 2 mates to help him when he goes to the ground. Rugby is all about field control and teamwork, build your progression on the field by relying on your teamates, then and only then the team can be a giant. As you say at 12:12, rugby is not about individuals, it's all about teamwork. Have a look at what Serge Betsen did in his years. Great player and a fine dude, may be a good video subject.
After his reward he did 4 or 5 desicives action in European cup with Stade Toulousain ( i'm french, i have to say a "cocorico" for that after the win against new Zealand, the rewards for best try for the woman and the man too!!! What a nice year for french rugby)
i played 9 and 10 at Rugby. At 9 you always have to be 'there' as its your job as best long passer on the team to clear the ball away every ruck, you also have to be the forwards eyes and ears when there are rolling mauls, almost like a sheep dog keeping the pack tight whether defending or attacking. 10 is easier due to not having to deal with all that, much like a QB your job is to call pass/kick options having scoped the defensive line up formed from the previous play.
Hey bro. Loving your reactions, especailly the rugby and uk rap. One thing I want to highlight though is to rememeber that in rugby you cannot run into the space like in NFL. As the play contues when you are tackled you need the big lads there to get have a quick ruck. if your centres do their job properly the should be flooding down the side of the field with space, as the player in the highlight you were referring to had already broken what we call the 12 channel, allowing for an easy overlap, therefore try, after the next ruck. but yeah, the number one rule in running rugby is not too run away from your support unless there is a high chace of scoring. Hope you get me bro. Also check out some squidge rugby if you can mate. Quality brakedown of the game and funny. I have seen others suggest it before so hope you get the chance bro
the player of the year is yet to be announced. but the nominees for the player of the year 15's are Antoine Dupont (France), Michael Hooper (Australia),Samu Kerevi (Australia) and Maro Itoje(England)
And again a big big game today ! 2 try and 2 big impact on try. Another think about the game vs NZ, on many ruck he take the ball just before the NZ players try to take it. So behind a pack without win the rucks battle he are THE solution ^^ For the player you should see, Kolbe (2019-2020) for see the transformation at this moment on rugby of the ligne 11-12-13-14-15 witch less weight. Exemple of the new rules from one manager at toulouse, less than 100kg. And more, the littlest. Same style: Neslon Epee (Young), Gabin vilière, Gabriel Lacroix, Arthur Retière, Gabriel Ngandebe
As the #9 he is supposed to run all those great lines through the middle, all the good ones do. Great player, very complete and the french game plan is practically built around his outstanding vision
dupont is not a symbol of french team but spirit of south west....Toulouse club in europ cup.....before french team...is not only good atak but good defense too...contest vs heavy player
Yee man, you understood the scrum-half position. They're kinda like the QB of rugby, deciding what to do on the next play and executing it. Should I pass left or right, long or short, kick it? Maybe even run. They're the playmaker that controls the team and directs the attack on the fly
Antoine Dupont's nickname is "le Ministre de l'Intérieur" (Minister of Interior Affairs), because he always follows the game and knows how to make himself available for an interior assist pass.
For every foreigner trying to pronounce french names or words, please notice that you've got to accentuate every last syllable. It's simple. anTOINE duPONT for instance.
Man an underappreciated thing about his game is he's taking so much contact but is almost never the one to get tackled to the ground because he knows he has to be the one to recycle the ball after someone goes down in contact. Hey there, your point about trying to attack that space is valid. There was an opportunity there but I don't think it is as clear cut as it looks. A consideration a player needs to make is that running towards the right (the opposition left wing) takes him away from his support in this particular circumstance. If he gets tackled by that Italian player out on the left wing, there is a very good chance he loses the ball because there will be nobody to assist with the counter-ruck. Worse case scenario the French player gets penalized for holding on, which would be the natural thing to do when you do not have support at the ruck. When you are so deep in an opponent's territory and on the offense, the last thing you want to do is lose possession. The smart play is actually to run a line, where you know your teammates can keep up with you, because the Italians are running backwards anyway. There is a better chance of recycling the ball that way. The Italians are still under pressure, regardless of the French player cutting in. Also, in this instance there are just two minutes on the clock before halftime. Ensuring or securing possession makes more sense than going for glory, because there might also be opportunities to win a penalty, which is inevitable when a team is defending under pressure, as the Italians are. Given the position they are in on the field, that would almost be a guaranteed three points for France. When you are already leading 24-3, rather focus on adding to the scoreboard pressure, than going for glory.
To me, "player of the year" is a sport team is not very relevant as all positions are different and requires very specific skills. Try to place Dupont at any number in the scrum and see if he's still the best rugby played in the world (you get what I mean). However, no doubt he is one of the best scrum half right now, not affraid to say the best above Aaron Smith, one of the most key played in the world. France team really isn't the same with or without him
