As an Aussie I cried watching this, Why? Cause lomu was a legendary winger for the All Blacks and caused carnage when he played. Much respect to mate for understanding the significance of the Haka. Kiwis are our brothers and sisters to AUSTRALIANS R.I.P. Big fella. Much respect on my behalf.

Man it’s getting dusty in here all over again. The day Jonah Lomu passed my wife & I were celebrating at a restaurant after finding out we were having a son. After our news it was a total gut punch & the tears crept up on
me (long day). As an Englishman I’d grown up watching Jonah roll over England at all the critical moments. It sucked but ultimately he inspired me to play rugby. I have him to thank for fractured bones, torn ligaments, many stitches & trips to hospital over the years. I also have him to thank for memories, friends & hijinks I wouldn’t trade for anything. My son was named Jonah as a small gesture to the man who influenced my life in such a positive way. A gent & true ambassador for the sport. Five years later and my boy knows how to pick up the ball & run with it. Thank you & god bless big man.

I actually cried when the Wesley College boys performed the Haka . From what i know , They performed it there , unplanned , uninvited . Just the sheer emotion for this great legend as his casket passed by . Good on you Wesley College .

Kiwi mate of mine died suddenly and unexpectedly in 2019. I held it together through the funeral and eulogy. When the haka began I was a blubbering mess.

I am British and 61 next month, as a Child i watched in the Saturday morning Cinema the Queen of England being greeted by the Maori, i remember being completely inspired by these powerful, Proud and good looking people I wanted to be a Maori. watching the all blacks through the years which has given me immense pleasure and Jonah was a LEGEND...Bless the Beautiful, Peaceful and Proud Maori nation.
So emotional! As someone from England U.K., I can say he was hugely loved and respected by us. Still remember how shocked and sad I was at the news of his passing. Jonah will never be forgotten

As a South African, absolute respect for Jonah Lomu. My mom and I watched his funeral when it happened and both of us wept. We're both Springboks to the core, but so much respect for him ❤

We Aussies recognise many faces & are exposed to the Haka regularly . Please note it has an important role in unifying New Zealanders . There are a lot of Tongan,Samoan ,Fijians & Anglos doing that Haka not just Maori. All learnt the words & gave it everything.All the kids from his old school .Respect.

The school boys performing are from Wesley College Jonah's old school where his rugby career pretty much started.
Anyone that didn't have a tear in their eye when the doves were released isn't human.
The emotion in their faces at the beginning was moving, when all that emotion turned to a collective passion and focus... that was soul shattering.
The power that this conveys is un matched, I don't watch rugby and I have minimal knowledge of the haka. But the this is unmistakable. Rest in power legend you fought valiantly.

Met the legend once in the UK during the world cup, he was very kind. So sad, rest in peace. This was a stunning tribute that made me cry.
My son and I went to the rugby World Cup final between New Zealand and Australia at Twickenham in 2015. Jonah Lomu was in one of the bars before the game, mingling with the fans and having his photo taken with him. Sadly it was probably the long flight back to New Zealand that exacerbated his kidney condition, leading to his sad and early death.

If I remember correctly, the first Haka was from His classmates or similar when he was at Wesley College.
The second Haka is what you called right. All of his teammates from when he was with the All Blacks. The guy in the blue shirt you paused in (nit the other guy you paused on) is Tana Umaga. He was just as good as Jonah, and lead the Haka when Jonah was in the team. He also lead the first debut of the All Blacks second Haka, Kapa o Pango.
The first Haka (the kids in the stands) was the current class at Wesley College, which would be his alma mater. The Haka they performed was the current Haka for their school.
And finally you were right. That was his wife and children. I'm. It sure if that was his parents or hers, but you're right that that was his family.

I only meet him once through a friend and his heart was the biggest thing about him . If you didn't know he was suffering kidney issues his whole life . So when he was playing he was not running as it were with a fully health body . Before when he was playing it was always at the back of our minds how good he was, how much better he might have been if he didn't have kidney problems . I think Jonah had 8 brothers and he was not the biggest :P That haka always brings a tear to my eye so don't hold yourself back when something like this its not bad to feel sad but it was a relief for them, it was very bad near the end he was half the man he was after all he had been through . I know a radio presenter donated a kidney for him which helped but it was only a stop gap but well done for him to help . Life was a little less bright in his passing . Long live the legend Jonah !

8:08 he was a lot heavier than they stated in his profile. He was playing rugby 7s for counties at around 112kg that's about 250 lbs then the all black coach told counties coach to put him on the wing and he was unstoppable, then he got up to around 118 kg about 260 lbs then he made the all blacks and grew to 134 kg after a few years that's around 300 lbs , the all blacks kept his weigh in his profile at 118 kg to be polite to him. He was closer to 134 kg then when he got a lot sicker and needed treatment they gave him medication that would also make him lose weight so he ate more and grew to 450 lbs, then he had to retire from rugby because of his illness, he also took up amature body building and got down to 95 kg that's 215lbs when he died he might of been around 110-115 kg 243lbs -250 lbs. He was 6'5 and ran the 100 meters in 10:46 at around 260-300lbs

I always feel so much respect for our Maouri and New Zealander neighbours. The way the country has accepted and integrated Maouri culture & customs into daily life should be the blueprint for every country with an indigenous population to follow. In fact, if the whole world was more like New Zealand, there would be much more peace and harmony. But if anyone ever messes with our neighbours, there will be hell to pay. Only brothers and sisters treat each other the way Australians and Kiwis treat each other - rivalry paired with love and respect.

The Australian government didn't become independent until 1901, and it took even longer to recognise the Aboriginal peoples as the original owners and carers of the land. So it wasn't until into the 80's and 90's that we started to put things right properly. And that when we STARTED.
I am hoping that Gen Z, when they have their turn at running the country, things will improve further. We haven't had as long as most nations to figure out shit out, but that is no excuse for the atrocities that have been done to the original caretakers of our beautiful country.

From Australia here and it’s so cool to see an American discovering AFL. Just wondering if your aware that we’ve been playing the game professionally for over 140 years. First league began in 1877 in South Australia and we even have a national women’s league playing now.
I never thought how odd the game must look to foreigners as we can start playing as young as 6 to 8 years old in mini leagues and it’s just second nature. Keep up the great content and Go the Bombers. (That’s Essendon - Black guernsey with a Red Sash) alongside Carlton the most successful team in the competition.
