Lakewood here and a damned good mechanic. I refuse to stop for anyone anymore, even WHILE carrying 230 grains of JHP. There's a reason it's called the Wild West. I came within an inch of dead at 9:30 one night in Pasco of all places when my vehicle broke down on the side of 90. Pitch black. Some dude stopped to presumably help. I was crouched down looking at my front end - he stood over me with a tire iron; his arm cocked-back, ready to swing. The one time I wasn't carrying only because I was on my way back from the Midwest through several states with no concealed carry reciprocity. Only the Grace of God and fast talking kept me from going home in a body bag. Never again.

As much as it's appreciated for a civilian to come help an officer, what I find worrying about it is that a bad guy could pretend to be just someone helping and can attack the officer. For all she knew that guy could have been backup to the suspect. You even saw there was a problem when another officer arrived and instantly thought that the guy helping was another suspect and he had to have his hands up. So really I think it's best that civilians just stay out of the job of law enforcement.

They were probably just investigating and maybe the victim was in hospital

I wonder if the confidential informant was the person she called for a ride? NYPD should have given NMSP more information.

Wait. Why in the HELL did the detective not tell them it was homicide from the jump? Seems they KNEW that but earlier stated it was just a robbery she was wanted for …. Being wanted for killing someone is way different and would alert the officer to take greater precautions. So glad the citizen came and helped!

@@benjamin48thhow do you determine that minutes before the arrest is made? that doesn't seem likely tbh

It was an active update on the investigation. They were looking through the house during the call until they finally found the body. Then, later, the wife was on 911 call. I saw this before in the movie "The Guilty 2021" with Jake Gyllenhaal and the foreign movie "The Gulity 2018". It can happen all in one night.

Thank god for the good Samaritan who stepped in when her back up was put on a goose chase. Bless.
