Yeah I thought at the least why not animal cruelty charges. I don't know what state this is but I wonder if her walking into a stranger's house somehow voids the responsibility of the owner somehow? I imagine there has to be something to charge them with. This may not be the same thing but people have been charged before for harming or killing a burglar with booby traps left in an unattended house so why can it not apply to starving dogs?

    • @JaySaidStuff
      @JaySaidStuff 2 місяці тому +216

The main issue is that she let herself into the home. Had they broken out or were let out by the owner then attacked her, it would likely be a different story.
I will say though, considering there were statements from neighbors of there being prior issues with the dogs, perhaps if more people testified it could build a stronger case. I'm not sure if that would change anything though.

In cases like this it takes time to build a case and to investigate and collect evidence. They need to know exactly what crimes the person committed and specifically who committed those crimes. Otherwise they can't get a conviction... and if they can't get a conviction, then they can't just arrest people. People have Rights and among those Rights is the Right to be presumed innocent until Proven guilty.

Definitely do NOT just take an owner's word for it if they insist their dog is friendly-- the dog could be friendly with familiar people but hostile to strangers, or the owner might just have no awareness or understanding of how dogs work; in both cases, the owner likely does not have full control of their animals and you are right to be cautious. There are a few cases in which the dog IS just being friendly, but the owner should be able to just call the dog back or shut them behind a door for your safety and/or comfort. Our dog is a big german shepherd lab mix with a *very* scary sounding bark, but she is definitely more bark than bite and a very sweet and friendly dog once you get to know her. She's usually just afraid of the things she barks at and not likely to attack anything. That being said, I'm well aware that she is an animal-- a very large animal-- fully capable of snapping and acting on instinct out of fear, so we try to just remove her from the room/yard just in case if she gets too agitated. It's always a good idea to be cautious of dogs; if you don't know a dog, don't try to touch or approach it, even if you think its barks are just excitement/happiness.
I do want to point out that running away is probably not the best way to handle things, because that does trigger a chase instinct in most dogs and it might just make the encounter more stressful for everyone involved.

The dog went underneath the trampoline ripped through the trampoline rip through his jeans rip through his scrotum. The dogs in this video were obviously aggressive, but they were trained to be aggressive. Not to mention the sorry state of the house in itself, which could mean the dogs were also being mistreated.
I’ve had big breeds my entire life. Rottweilers, Labs, and yes Pits. We had them to always more so act as a threatening presence, rather than a promise of being mauled if someone trespassed, as well as a sort of alarm system to any yard activity. Meaning we didn’t train them to be aggressive. They were always protective of us yes, but never unnecessarily aggressive. Often times it was out Pits and Rotts who them because love bugs to any new people they met.
All this to say, dogs are a blank canvas. They become whatever their owners impart onto them. The dogs in this video were trained to be violent and aggressive, and so they became.

Thinking that we're the center of everything and exempt from the laws of mother nature is the most egotistical and delusional thing I've ever heard of and somehow people choose to believe it. @@BasedRedemption pitbulls are actually NOT inherently violent. No dogs are inherently violent. You cannot "breed agression" into the genes. The opposite is true, pitbulls are very sweet pets, before using them to fight in illegal rings and destroying their reputation, pitbulls were go-to dogs to leave with children. Cause they love children and they were considered dog nannies along with french bulldogs.
Its constant abuse, mistreatment and ill-directed training that causes the dogs to lash out. Theres lots and lots of abadoned pitties that were used in dog rings who under good care turn into the loveliest sweethearts. Theyre a completely domesticated species, no breed is INHERENTLY violet hurr de durr.
I dont support breeding any dogs outside of working dogs, farm dogs, etc who are healthy by default and the focus of breeding is their own mental focus to do the task. You can't breed agression but you can breed arthrisis, pitbulls like a lot of other bred dogs, unfortunately have a lot of functional problems. Its a breed we shouldnt cultivate because its not healthy for the dogs, its irresponsible, but we should respect the ones that are alive with us as theyre not any less deserving of love than other dogs.

It is not always just the ones attacked that suffer from it. When I was younger my little cousin was playing in the backyard in a mud puddle, and the next door neighbor's dog jumped three fences into our backyard and attacked him. I did not see or hear the actual attack, but when my uncle picked him up so that they could go to the hospital and his face came over his shoulder all bloody with his lip partially hanging off, I have this Crystal clear perfect memory of that and now I'm terrified of a barking dog, and I don't believe owners when they say that their dog is friendly. He does not remember it really at all, and there happened to be a plastic surgeon on call when they got to the hospital, who was able to repair his face so well that unless you knew it had happened and knew where the scars were supposed to be, you wouldn't even be able to see them.

We're talking about different, specialized breeds. Pitbulls have different mentalities. If he's going for you, a horn ain't gonna do shxt. Their persistence is not only seen in the way they bite. This video exemplifies that; when he shot the black pit at least once and he still got up almost a minute later.
These type of dogs remind me of kids. They need a structure, and they reflect your teachings (or lack thereof). I had 3 staffs, never told them nothing special. All I did was treat them right, they always behaved accordingly. These dogs are extremely dependent on not only a good care, but they need a good teacher - they don't need a guy that knows everything about dogs, but you have to know what you can't show or allow them to do.
Edit: basically, if you're a dxckhead, the dog will show it.

Of all the populations of people we work with in the field of social science and social service, the humans who do this type of work have my total respect and utmost empathy. For police officers: if you're on a scene and seeing parts--a heel, a portion of calf, skin, etc., ask peers to quickly bring you what you need to wrap a given part in a clean damp cloth, place it in a sealed plastic bag, then submerse in cold water. The cold reduces cell need for oxygen, keeping the tissues alive. Even shreds are occassionally useful...
You may not think much of "shreds" but a doctor can reattach muscle, bone, fats, etc. In some cases after they take measures to supply and wash the material--it's hard to impossible to regenerate or replace some things (muscle is just gone if you don't reattach) and good doctors will get creative when they are feeling up to try. The reattachment of tissues and lost parts (including an amputated heel!) is called "replantation"--get yourself and your peers in the habit so that if you're also jumped by dogs one day...
Here from the reports the legs couldn't be saved much less repaired but never think " itc# so bad it doesn't matter": if someone brings your doctor your own tissues they can use the material to patch up other damaged areas of your body!

Pitbulls are like 20% of all the dogs. Often mixed dogs are also labeled pitbulls when they share characteristics. Either way who’s at fault is the owner. Pitbulls can also be well mannered dogs, which is why they were called nanny dogs, for being good around children. Obviously you can tell the owner influences the dog. And maulings still aren’t limited to pitbulls.
