You know Zeppelin recorded a bunch of other groups songs without getting permission or giving a writing credit. After years and years, They finally got sued. But when this song came out on DR. Demento show Zeppelin sued PRONTO
This song was occasionally heard on the infamous Dr Demento radio program. And, if you like this type of parody music, you may like "Stairway to 7-11."
@@JD-ip7nc Also known as "the mighty met" The station abruptly became KTWV "the wave" around 1985-even the DJs didn't know the station had been sold, that's the story I heard. Is new age music still around? Maybe I will tune my radio to 94.7 and hear what's there.

I've literally only just heard this for the first time 5 minutes ago - twice. I loved the original and always have ever since I first heard it blaring from an open window walking down College Ave., Berkeley when I was 16 years old. I just stopped and listened. This is just as brilliant. Thank you very much for sharing - and thanks Jeremy for forwarding it to me.
Led Zeppelin was NOT amused. Look up the landmark copyright infringement case surrounding this song. The judge ruled FOR LZ and ordered all copies of the 45 recalled snd destroyed. No one returned them, and now they are collectors items.
And Zeppelin and manager, who stole shamelessly from various songwriters, had zero sense of humor and sued Little Roger & the Goosebumps, bankrupting them! I worked in Berkeley at the time, and Little Roger was working construction across the street to pay bills.
Dude... classical musicians mathematically ran out of melodies, back 19th century... musicians steal licks off each other all the time. In the case of the Taurus song, I've listened to it, they share an Amin arpeggio... probably the most common arpeggio in rock music. The songs are 97% different, it's not that big a deal. Zeppelin didn't do anything wrong. Led Zeppelin didn't actually sue them, they just threatened to, did it lead to them going bankrupt? Potentially, whether or not this song would be considered parody enough to fall under fair use, I'm not sure. It probably would have been a good idea to send Zeppelin a copy and ask permission. It would be the polite and a good way to prevent getting sued.
Senior year in High School one of my classmates comes in and says I hear the opening chords to Stairway To Heaven so I crank it up thinking cool, I can listen to Led Zep before going into school. He says he's about to start singing along when they come out with sit right back and you'll hear a tale.....I couldn't believe it and wished I had heard it. He was psyched to hear Zep! I was in a club a few years later and saw a band who did this! It was awesome! Well I came on here because I heard today that classmate just passed away at the too young age of 60. He was 3 weeks younger than me. R.I.P. David Breen.....
Thanks so much for posting this. I wanted to buy it back in the day but I found out about it after a certain group of primadonnas had their little feelings hurt by a little good natured fun based on their stolen music rock opera and had it banned.
LZ management legal representation was ostensibly responsible rather than the band members. Robert Plant has said this is his favorite cover of the song, knowing very well he enjoys pricking the bubble of LZ mystique quite a lot.
Oh yes, they threatened a lawsuit, and Little Roger and the Goosebumps were forced to destroy all of the unsold 45s. Of course, it had already received a bunch of radio play and sold lots of singles, so it wasn't totally lost. The song was reissued in 2000 (legally), and in a 2004 interview Robert Plant said it was his favorite cover of "Stairway to Heaven."
@@donnasweetpurplejune6335 Reissued in 2000? Good to know! I thought there were only a few un-destroyed original copies around. Dr.Demento played it a lot, back in the day. Glad to hear Plant has a sense of humor!
Finally heard this. Very clever, with great playing, that's almost up to the original. Only criticism I have is with the weak middle vocalist. The guy in the beginning and very end had a better/stronger voice and is easier to understand. He should have sung it all.
@@andrewmcintosh2703 dude, please. I've been playing guitar for forty years. See "hots on for nowhere" for a note for note riff, as a prime example of a lifted riff.
Let's give credit to the source: Little Roger and the Goosebumps is a pop/rock band from San Francisco active during the 1970s and early 1980s.
They're all dead
They got sured over this.

Finally a decent quality recording of this song. This should be at the top of the list. Thanks!
Somehow I see Alice Cooper playing Gilligan in this.
Would be a better match then Alice Copper playing King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar
This is a very clever piece of work. No wonder Robert Plant likes it.

RIP Dawn Wells.

Most sails are lowered when boats are docked and tied.
If they are disrespecting Led Zeppelin...
Little Roger and the Goosebumps, suppressed after Led Zeppelin's management threatened a copyright infringement lawsuit.
Yeah Peter Grant needed to get a sense of humor ...
Completely ironic considering how many blues artists Led Zeppelin ripped off...
and then there's Spirit's lawsuit for Led Zep ripping their tune off
