I've learned that by then, Little Roger and the Goosebumps had pulled their records, due to a lawsuit by Led Zepplin. But it was re-released in 2000. Robert Plant has called it "his favorite cover of Stairway to Heaven". Thanks Puddles, glad that you found it and gave it new life.

LR&tG lost and the judge ruled that ALL copies of the song be recalled and destroyed. Which obviously didn't happen. Meanwhile, Weird Al parodied everyone with next to no push-back from the original musicians. The point is the members of LZ had no appreciation or sense of humor for this amazing mash-up. I think it's because it was TOO good. :)
Ah, Gilligan's. Growing up watching that show, I swear I happened to incorporate all the characters as part of my personality! At work I'm the Professor with clients...but the Captain comes out for co-workers. I consider myself Maryanne with my kids, but I'm sure they'd say I'm all Gilligan. I try to be Mrs. Howell with my husband but often turn into Mr. Howell. Ginger only shows up for the few minutes I'm getting dressed for the day 😉. Back when this came out, about the only place you would hear it was randomly on the radio, because LZ publishers or management filed suit to get the copies out of circulation. I taped it on my cassette player sitting next to my AM radio and made copies for my friends so we could play it whenever we wanted- no MP3s then! 😂
There was dj in Detroit that used to play it a lot on his show and he called it ‘ Stairway to Gillian’s Island ‘ I heard Robert Plant talking about this record in interview and he said they liked it and let them have the rights to produce all they wanted. I just don’t think it sold very much. Novelty record.

I taped it on my cassette player sitting next to my AM radio and made copies for my friends so we could play it whenever we wanted- no MP3s then! 😂

There was dj in Detroit that used to play it a lot on his show and he called it ‘ Stairway to Gillian’s Island ‘
I heard Robert Plant talking about this record in interview and he said they liked it and let them have the rights to produce all they wanted. I just don’t think it sold very much. Novelty record.
