why is that every time i think about joe that he always uploads within those 24 hours? its some weird psychic shit but its a weirdness that im perfectly okay with, quality as always my guy, also not only am i subbed, i have your channel belled, high praise indeed
Hah! I appreciate it! It's nice to be remembered! Unless you're Mike from high school, in which case, I'm really sorry. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I know, right? Just needed some special effects, though. Imagine a GLOWING giant dude riding two sharks! Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!
I always love when two of the best episodes of the show happen to be in the same video. Both just have an absolutely amazing environment for the gang to explore.
I’m so glad that I found this channel and subscribe a long time ago. I would have never paid attention to this in my naïve youth as a kid I’m learning so much thank you Joe.
Thank you for the kind words and for watching and subscribing! Your sub status is hidden, so if you comment in the future and I don't thank you for doing so, rest assured it's still very appreciated!
Here's one more literary reference: the FBI agent took the name of Captain Flint, the character from Stevenson's "Treasure Island", which... is pretty stupid on his part. It's like a secret agent using James Bond as an alias. Anyway Joe, your every video is a treat! Keep it up. I wish I could make videos as entertaining as yours. Maybe with time...
True Story: one day when I was around eight years old, my mother suddenly felt guilty that she hadn't been exposing me to "culture" and for seemingly no reason demanded I read 'Treasure Island'. This did not sit well with me and I bucked her every step of the way. She forced me to read a chapter at a time which I begrudgingly did, and immediately forgot everything about it. A few days would go by before she remembered the book and she'd demand I read another chapter. This went on for months before she forgot/gave up completely. To this day I never finished that goddamned book. Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching and subscribing!
I doubt the Scooby writers knew this at the time, but in Brazilian folklore there are mythical monstrous jungle-dwelling spirits named Mapinguari (also called juma by some). There are several descriptions that vary on the hairy humanoid scale, but I don't think there is any version with it having a jaguar head.
You're likely correct, but by the same token one should never discount what esoteric knowledge some of the Scooby writers might have had at the time. Granted, this was long before the internet where even the most obscure topics are often at everyone's fingertips, but there have been instances in the early Scooby-Dooniverse where a bad guy had elements derived from something that wasn't common knowledge. Thanks for watching and commenting!
My brother and I, huge fans of the multiple Scooby-Doo series, binged literally every single part of this amazing work when the Tar Monster one (a personal favorite) popped up in my recommended. Thank you so much for this project, it's just been absolutely great. Look forward to watching this when he gets off work.
Your ''worst dog owners ever'' line made me realise something. When I first started watching the cartoon at around 5-8 years of age, I always thought Scooby was just some mutated canine creature. That was mainly due to his ability to speak and very strange dietary habits that would have made most dogs sick easily. I never considered him to be a regular dog ever. It was through watching your videos and the observations you made (worst dog owners ever) that I had a moment of ''wait, he is just a dog, not some mutatated canine creature".
I didn't have a dog until my forties, so I had never appreciated just how much work they are to raise and keep safe. I'm constantly googling what people foods are safe to give them, for example. It's for that reason I'm so conscious of all the times when Scooby is put in danger from the Gang's negligence. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I was having a bad day, sat down, saw you uploaded a video, watched it, and now I feel better. Keep up the great work, these videos have great humor while still giving facts I’m learning through them
It means the world to me that I'm able to help people get through a lousy day. My favorite UA-cam channel, Red Letter Media, got me through many weeks recovering from several surgeries and I'm thrilled I can do the same for others! Thank you very much for watching and commenting!
It all started asking questions while watching with my daughter, especially all the times the Gang broke the law while meddling. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Good to see you again, Joe! Insightful and entertaining analysis as always. I'm trying to boost your channel on my (extremely meager) social media outlets, because more people need to see this. Hopefully it'll help your viewer numbers!
I really appreciate it! Anything to help alleviate the UA-cam Algorithm is welcome! But even more than that, I appreciate you watching! And thanks for commenting!
Thank you very much for saying so! I have a few very favorite UA-camrs and I get a huge thrill when I see a new one of theirs show up in my feed. I don't think I'm anywhere near as talented as they are, but if I can come close to evoking that same sentiment from others, it's amazing to me! Thank you for watching and subscribing!
Thank you, Joe for making these videos. These videos help me through high school. And thank you for going deeper and explaining what you rate and everything and the villain work to doo score please keep making these videos as long as you’re able to and also I can’t wait to see your Collab again, sorry I can’t remember his name
I'm glad to help! God knows anyone in high school could use the distraction! My next collab with Dan at @TYTDReviews is mostly complete and should be available in November (I think that's what he said). It's not Scooby-related, but there are some Scooby-related elements in it and I hope you check it out when it's uploaded on his channel. I do plan on making a "preview" video to host on mine to hopefully get people over to his to check it out. Hell, you don't even need to wait for that. Check out his channel anyway and give him a sub! He's worth it! I could listen to those dulcet British pipes of his all day! Thanks for watching and commenting!
YIPPEEEEE a ranking villains episode !!! And right when I was thinking about it too XDD I find it really fascinating that some of the most iconic and/or best designed scooby villains actually have the most ridiculous or not well thought out schemes when you really get down to it 😂 but I think that adds to the stupid charm this franchise has as a whole. Thanks as always for keeping up this series it really brings me joy and a good laugh especially on crummy days 🤗💕!
If you're not familiar, there was once a film company called Cannon Films, responsible for some of the most batshit insane action flicks of the 1980s. The guys who ran the company weren't that interested in movies as an art and were only concerned with distribution and sales. To that end, they would often come up with a catchy title or eye-grabbing poster, sell the movie based on that, THEN worry about the script and filming. Sometimes I wonder if Hanna-Barbera did the same thing- coming up with what they thought was an interesting monster and have their production staff develop an episode around it. It would explain a lot, certainly. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!
I just checked your channel yesterday to make sure youtube hadn't failed to notify me of any uploads. It felt like about time to see a video from you again.
Sorry for the increased time between them. Unfortunately my WFH gig has shot upward the past couple of months and that's taken up time that used to be spent on my channel. There isn't a day that goes by where I'm not working on it in some way or other, but between that and a family obligation that takes me out of state for several days each month, it's going to take a bit longer to upload new content. I can only hope they're worth the wait! Thank you very much for watching, commenting and subscribing!
@@JoeGoesOver Always worth the wait and you take all the time you need. I find it funny how often I check for a video from a channel and one gets posted the next day.
I really enjoy the matter-of-fact way you break down the episodes and go through the realities of all the crimes, possible sentences, value of stolen goods/properties, and all the missteps the villains make. It's a fun way to look back on an old show and make fun of it's errors and logic while still enjoying the nostalgia of it. Thank you for this amazing series!
And thank you for the amazingly kind words! As I mentioned in one of my videos, this overthinking began while watching the series with my then-preteen daughter. Watching Scooby-Doo as an adult hits a lot differently than when you were a kid. Paying bills and doing taxes saps a lot of your sense of whimsy, apparently. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Thank you very much for saying so! Reading nice comments is a highlight of my day afterward! Thanks for watching and commenting and having a user name reminiscent of one of my favorite 80s animated films!
I'm thrilled to be able to do so! Hopefully you're doing well there and not losing yourself in school work. Just remember that despite everyone telling you to pick a path in life, odds are you'll have decades to nail down the one you actually want! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Thank you for another episode of the series, it's amazing and funny as always, I love Scooby Doo so much! Also Iron Face always scared me a lot as a kid! Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much for saying so, and I hope you continue to watch! I'm close to the halfway point of my next one, so with luck, it'll be up by the end of next week! Thanks for watching and subscribing as well!
Yay! New ranking! I've been checking your channel everyday for a week or 2 lol. I've never seen the Jaguaro episode so I prefer Old Iron Face slightly more but I like the sound of the Jaguaro too
Thank you very much for your enthusiasm! I wish I could produce these faster, but sadly, my channel is just one of several obligations I have to meet. For a while it looked like I would be able to do an upload every two weeks, but one of my WFH jobs started getting a lot busier and taking time I could ordinarily devote to writing and editing. I'm currently deep in my next script as I write these words, so with luck, it'll be finished in a couple of weeks. Thanks for taking the time to comment, and for watching and subscribing!
@JoeGoesOver no problemo :D I'm always really enthusiastic when you upload. It's really hard to juggle all the obligations I have FAR too many to try and juggle so don't worry I understand completely. It's always worth the wait no matter what regardless No problem 😊 thank you for the amazing content as always!
Awesome video Joe! I discovered and found your channel a couple of months ago, and I couldn't believe that this channel and you didn't have at least 100,000 subscribers. You are a great person with a great personality. You have a very well detailed and entertaining channel with amazing content/videos being in it, and I have to say they are excellently edited, shot, and made. I have loved your channel and videos from the start, and people just haven't found this diamond mine of a channel. I have watched all of the New Sooby Doo Movies, Scooby Doo Show, and Scooby Doo Renaissance Reviews, Speaking of which I can't wait until you have reviewed Scooby Doo and the Cyberchase in the future. Have a good day.
Wow! Thank you very much for such kind comments! They really lift my spirits! As the creator, all I ever notice are the flaws in my stuff because there's usually no harsher critic that the person doing the work. I've almost finished with the third season of 'The Scooby-Doo Show', so 'Cyberchase' is on the horizon! Thank you again for watching and commenting!
Thank you very much for doing so! As you probably guessed, I'm not thrilled with coming across as begging, but UA-cam's algorithm is a beast and I can use the help! Thanks for watching and commenting, too!
I can see that. The Iron Mask looks like it could be a bucket helm and the pirate hat just adds to the charm! Glad you're subscribed! Thank you for that, and for watching!
Thank you very much for saying so! I really appreciate hearing that! Sorry there's such a delay between them, but other family and work obligations have been taking up a lot of time. I'm in the middle of my next script as I write these words, so with luck, instead of every other week, maybe I can get them out every other, other week. I'm bad at words for time periods. Thanks for watching!
If I can be a bright point to anyone's day means a lot to me! Happy to oblige! 🙂 Thank you very much for watching and commenting and supporting my channel!
@@JoeGoesOver, that’s good to hear. And I’m hoping to see you finally cover Ace Decade and the Cat Creature. The Ace Decade joke is too good to pass up and I’m hoping he lives up to the hype, and I personally consider Dr Bell to be the most vile Scooby Doo villain next to Alice Dovely, Uncle Leon, and the Werecats from Zombie Island respectively. I greatly anticipate that analysis, and one thing I find interesting about Make A Beeline Away From That Feline is how comfortable Daphne is cuddling a stray cat that had been living in the sewers the whole time despite her hatred of getting dirty. I would presume that despite her hypochondria she has a soft spot for cats. I have had cats over the years with some dying other being sent to the pet shelter and the more recents ones keep annoying me by coming at me seeking comfort despite how much I hate being cuddled all the time by animals. I tolerate those critters no matter what cause my family loves them and we have each other to rely on. Anyway, Dr Bell, psychopath hiding behind the cover of a therapist, deserves to be hated for being the most vile monster disguised as a human in the Scooby Doo Show..
Glad to see this series return! I do have my subscriptions set to private, but I wanted to let you know that I've been subscribed since this series began. This is one of my favorite series on UA-cam going at the moment, and I love how much I learn with each episode (in addition to just having fun revisiting Scooby-Doo with a critical eye). I've since watched plenty of other videos of yours, and I've enjoyed pretty much everything. Here's to a growing success of your channel!
Thank you very much for saying so and thank you very much for subscribing! I suspected more people subscribed than what shows up on my side of the screen, but the red icon is the only thing to clue me in. That's one of the reasons I added that little bit at the beginning of this video. I'm extremely thankful for all my subscribers and feel the need to thank them personally when it's known, but I also wanted to let anyone who subscribed but didn't get my thanks here in the comments why that happens.
Great video Joe. I just finished binging your whole series and have already started my first rewatch. Thank you for all your hard work and good luck with the first scooby and scrappy season after this one bc it's a doozey lol
Thank you very much for the kind words and for the repeated views! I only wish the earlier ones had better quality sound and video! I strive to improve with each upload, but there are limits to my skills, equipment and recording location. Fun Fact: when you see me no longer using a hidden lav mic, it's because it fell into the toilet while I was taking a break during filming. Thanks for watching!
This was one of the first channels I subscribed to, so if you can’t see that, I’m not sure why. Either I need to do something, or UA-cam is doing UA-cam things. These are some great episodes and iconic monsters! Keep up the awesome work, since I always love your videos!
Thank you very much for saying so and for subscribing. You're not showing up with the little red icon, which likely means your status is hidden by default, but that's fine. Just remember that if you comment in the future and I don't thank you for it, I'm still very appreciative!
There's a part of me that kind of regrets starting it, though, because it's getting harder and harder to think of good spoiler moments. It's what I get for being passive-aggressive, I suppose. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you very much for saying so! And for watching! And commenting! And subscribing! I don't see the little red marker, so if you comment in the future and I don't thank you for that, remember that I still appreciate it!
I subscribed and joined patron months ago and I’m reaping the benefits of both. Fantastic channel. The wait between videos is always worth it because each video is a banger. Love this channel so much because it’s fun and entertaining to be critical of something I grew up with and I think it’s fascinating to add real world logic to cartoons. Also I’m hoping Funko does old iron face someday. I’ve got all the others Scooby Doo pops they have released so far; yeah by this point it’s clear they were struggling with ideas for episodes. But I’ve always loved the old iron face episode for some reason. It just makes me laugh. The jaguaro episode Scooby in the fruit hat dancing with the maracas always gives me the giggles. Cha cha cha.cha 😂
Thank you for your kind words! They are VERY appreciated! Believe it or not, I don't have a lot of Scooby merch myself, mainly for lack of space to store it. My studio is already chock full of books, Blu-rays, figurines, etc., and every Christmas my wife buys me more and I struggle to find room for them! Having said that, I do have the Funko Space Kook because OF COURSE I'd have the Funk Space Kook! I hope you liked it, and thank you so much for supporting my channel!
@@JoeGoesOver, that or Fred’s just really affectionate towards them but has a toxic way of showing it. Remember, this guy was raised by his kidnapper in Mystery Incorporated similar to Rapunzel was raised by Mother Gothel in Tangled. Freddy’s obviously gonna be having some Stockholm syndrome and maybe some Lima syndrome in there as well. Even though the shows exist in their own separate universes, Fred’s relatives are rarely seen onscreen as far as I know, meaning he likely doesn’t have a good relationship with them, so a terrible family might still be in the cards for him hence why he’s so close to the gang..
Good GOD that's a horrific monster. It reminds me of the Headless Horror from 'Mystery Incorporated'. I mean, who puts a giant mouth in the middle of the stomach? Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!
Hey Joe just wanted to say love the videos! Been watching since January and haven’t left a comment until now. I really enjoy your thorough analysis of these scooby doo seasons. From the operation score to the actual calculations for values of products. The time you spend researching all this information is very appreciated. And so is your mindfulness of the many aged stereotypes and cultural appropriations that occur in the show. Keep working king always excited to see you on the screen every couple weeks! 😎👑
Well, you see, I watched this before work yesterday morning, typed out a bunch of stuff I had to comment, then closed my laptop to go to work without actually commenting what I had thought. The good news is that I will be watching it again sometime in the future, so hopefully my thoughts will come back to me
Hah! That happens to me occasionally when I'm replying to messages here, only what happens is UA-cam screws up and I get the little circle telling me that it's trying to upload the comment. When that happens, it usually doesn't take, but by then what I wrote is already gone and I have to type it all up again from scratch. While that doesn't sound too awful, it usually only happens when I entered a wall of text, so it's SUPER annoying! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I always enjoyed the Mama Mione episode, it must be quite a sight to see her on the shark torpedo skis. The Jaguaro episode always bugged me to no end with the Scooby scene with the gorilla, and instead of helping Scooby and Shaggy against the Jaguaro, Fred, Daphne and Velma just gave play by play commentary from the sidelines. It felt like a bit of a retread of the episode that took place in Mexico. Thanks for the video!
And thank you for watching, commenting and subscribing! Yeah, what in the hell were Fred and the rest doing instead of helping their friends in trouble? I give Shaggy and Scooby grief for being willing to run away instead of staying to help whenever a friend of the Gang needs it, but often they're not the only ones in the group guilty of that!
Finally, he's back, and he's finally covering one of my scooby villains, Jaguaro. I always loved the way he looked head of a saber-cat and the body of a great ape, plus it seems like it could be a real cryptid also barney and the gang better thank their lucy stars this wasn't the tribe from Cannibal Holocaust
As often as my favorite bad/retro movie UA-camrs mention that film, I've yet to make time to watch it. I mean, I have seen 'Faces of Death', so that's gotta count for something, right? Thanks for watching and commenting!
Good to see a new video! 😊 I was actually about to watch one of your old ones, but then when I pulled up youtube it had your new video at the top of my recommendations. I am glad you covered the iron face episode. I have watched this episode so many times. It is a favorite of mine. You made some great points as usual. As for the second episode you reviewed it is okay to me but I don't like it as much due the to jaguaro sound effect that played whenever the beast was on the screen. It annoyed me mostly and I would just skip over this episode in general whenever doing Scooby Doo marathons. Keep up the good work! 😊
Thank you very much for the kind words, and for watching and subscribing! You're not the only one who complained about the Jaguaro sounds, if that makes you feel any better. I would have loved to have been in the booth while the voice actors spit those noises out, just to see the looks on their faces!
@@JoeGoesOver I am glad I wasn't the only one annoyed with the beast sounds. Keep up the good work man! The videos really provide a lot of fun viewing for us all 😁
After having seen the latest Mad Max-esque movie Furiosa, I can appreciate the sharks. The idea is pretty novel, BUT like with most novel ideas in the series, the incorporation is piss poor. It is very therapeutic having someone point out all of the issues you have with a piece of media and more, thank you.
There’s also the fact that at one point in the episode, Shaggy falls into the well and Iron Face actually saves him by lifting the barrel up, allowing him to escape in fear. I have to ask, why would she do that? It’s one thing to not want to kill someone, and we know that Scooby villains rarely seem to have any bloodlust, but this is the first time a villain actually saves the gang’s life on purpose. In fact, it would take another 3 decades (*Ace Decade PNG*) before another Scooby monster became a hero to a member of the gang (the Coral Creature from the What’s New Scooby Doo episode Reef Grief is my favorite in that way). One would think that if Mama Miome was trying to kill Shaggy, she’d have left him in the well, but instead she goes through the effort to lift him up and rescue him. Either she isn’t as evil as she was supposed to be or she wanted to capture him herself but not kill him. The disrespect, I tell you, no answer in plain sight..
Perhaps Mama Mione was so annoyed with Shaggy and Scooby by that point she felt that drowning or starving to death in a well was too good for them? She could have ripped Shaggy in half like a bagel! Thanks for watching and commenting!
She likely saved him for two reasons. Mama Mione is running a nice little scheme transporting convicts, If Shaggy drowns now she has two issues. The rest of the gang will eventually call the coppers for the old missing person routine, plus she now has to get rid of the body which can be problematic because eventually cops are coming and likely Search and Rescue teams. So it's in her best interest to save Shaggy and just double down on trying to scare away the gang.
Scooby writers never were one to let go of something, whether it be the hallway gag or seafood surviving boiling water deaths. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I'm thrilled to hear that! Knowing my goofy stuff is being enjoyed really means the world to me! Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to comment!
Good video as usual Joe Though I've been wanting to ask for a while Are you going to cover every single episode of the Scrappy-Doo shows? Or go straight to a pup named Scooby-Doo and then what's new from the end of this series? Either way keep up the good work and I hope we don't have to wait an entire month again but I'm fine with waiting as long as I need to for the quality of these videos
I get asked this quite a bit. I won't know for certain until the time comes, but it's likely I'll skip the series/seasons that don't follow the Scooby formula. So there's a good chance some of the Scrappy Era will be skipped. Thank you very much for watching and commenting!
I appreciate that very much, though to be fair I'm unfamiliar with them. I generally avoid other Scooby content creators because I am terrified of being influenced by them, or being accused of it. There's someone I follow on social media with a medium-large following who does a lot of Scooby-related stuff. I had followed them for their Scooby posts and one day it occurred to me that I'd never actually been to their channel, so I finally checked it out. The VERY FIRST VIDEO listed was an obscure topic about Scooby-Doo that I had been mulling over in my head for months and was getting near to writing a script. I was horrified by my close call because there was no way that anybody who saw my video and the bigger channel's upload wouldn't think I had been copying them, despite my never having seen it. From that day on, I vowed to do my best to avoid other Scooby content creators because if by chance I did end up doing a video that mirrored theirs, I could say it was strictly coincidence. Funny enough, the other day they reposted a link to that same video on their social media, reminding me once again of the dodged bullet. Thank you so much for watching!
@@JoeGoesOver 20:08: One thing I hate about the Scooby franchise (aside from turning Velma into a cynic that turns down possible mystic elements, like in Curse of the 13th Ghost) is that a lot of people keep insinuating that the Scooby Snacks are a bribe rather than an incentive. Although you would consider their investigative operations as illegal, it doesn’t change the fact that Scooby and Shaggy were given Scooby Snacks as an incentive, not only as something for their stomachs, but also to get the crime scene to be done and over with fast. That being said, I will agree that a third party messing with their chances is bull honkey, and they should’ve made a comment on it like “after this investigation, we’re demand them to give us our unpaid reward.” Also, 24:59: I’m guessing saying “Worst Pet Owners Ever” was getting old. 28:33: Well, at least there was some research done before making the episode. I can think of another example like this: George Remi, aka Hergé, was criticized for racial insensitivity for the sake of comedy, mostly for his involvement in writing “TinTin in the Congo”, and that’s because the stories he wrote at the time was alt-right Catholic Propaganda. It wouldn’t be until Hergé was near finishing his “Cigars of the Pharaoh” story that he meets a fellow artist, Zhang Chongren, by request of Father Gosset to be more sensible when writing his next story, which Hergé would have to agree on. Zhang was a great help in development of “the Blue Lotus”, informing Hergé what China is like at the time, and that the story was given a more positive light by showing the negative effects on imperialism and how the story speaks against European Racism. Hergé decided that Zhang would be made into a character, Chang Chong-Chen, for the second half of the story; for not only teaching him about the importance of international culture, but also because Zhang was a good friend and shared similar interests with Hergé.
Imo I'm never got why the writers of CyberChase choose these two monsters all of the others monsters featured previously in the franchise. Where Are You has some of the most iconic monsters in the franchise and yet the Creeper was the only WAU monster to be featured for some reason.
Jaguaro I really don't understand. How they had him instead of Charlie the Robot or Captain Cutler I'll never know. I do like the fact that Iron Face is included, though. Imo an underrated episode and monster.
The writer was slightly older than me, so it's likely his childhood exposure to Scooby was centered around 'The Scooby-Doo Show' more than the earlier two series which he likely saw in syndication. For my part, 'Where Are You' was what I saw most in syndication, so that series is more "Scooby" to me than what came later. Or he simply liked the villains and as the writer, it was his prerogative to include them. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hi Joe! I swear theres ALWAYS actually haunted things that the gang totally doesnt notice or doesnt care about... its funny and weird.. Also I know perspective is hard but cmon Hanna Barbara, you always have issues with sizing of monsters. Did yall know theres no gorillas in south america xD (kidding) Great video as always Joe. Yall better like and subscribe!
I knew about Jaguaro, but didn't knew the episode took place in Brazil! And yeah the head hunter natives are cringe as hell and we don't have gorillas here lol Gotta watch it and see if they did the classic mistake of making brazilian people speak Spanish, but judging by the "señorita" at the beginning... I have low hopes Great video as always Joe! Looking forward to the next one 👍
Hah! That's why I mentioned Luis was "Hispanic" at the beginning, because I wanted to differentiate between him and people from Brazil! Sad to say, I'm ignorant of the country myself, but the one thing I always remember is their official language is Portuguese. It blew the mind of a Brazilian exchange student in my high school class because I was seemingly the only one who knew she wasn't supposed to be speaking Spanish. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hah! Sorry for taking so long! I was doing well at an every-other-week release, but there was a big uptick in one of my WFH gigs that now takes up a lot of time I was able to spend on my channel. I'm still working on new videos (the script for my next one is over halfway done and I've started some filming), but they're likely going to come a little further apart now. I'm under an NDA so I can't give specifics, but just to put it in perspective, I'm the sole person handling review responses for a national chain, and it's likely I'll be handing more for another national chain in the near future. Thanks as always for watching and commenting!
Riding two metal sharks while carrying a whip is the most badass way to introduce a villain, I don't care what anyone says. Also, my guess is that the boat was supposed to be "Annie 7" but they got 7 in Roman numerals (VII) backwards. How they did this, I have no idea. Great video as always!
Thank you for your kind words! I hope you liked it! When animation studios use overseas artists to draw the cells or background art, you run across issues like this where letters don't look right because the ones drawing it don't speak the language themselves. The early days of 'The Simpsons' was fraught with this problem. I don't know how much classic Scooby was produced in the United States and how much was done in Asia, but whenever I see issues like that, I just chalk it up to foreign misunderstandings. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Old Iron Face has always had one of my favorite designs for a Scooby rogue. He's just a pirate with an iron mask. It's simple, but I love it. Also, I suspect the boat's roman numeral is meant to be a 7, but they reversed it for some reason.
If this keeps up, I'm going to have to make a video that the caiman in the river was really an alligator, just like I did with Professor Pericles being an owl! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I’d say that not glowing is a good idea in this context. You were talking about the ghost of old iron face not drawing attention at night, under cover of darkness. Making the costume glow in any way would be a horrible idea! As for the ghost riding the sharks, I believe it’s more of trying to get the torpedoes to change direction so that the same spot isn’t used over and over again. All that iron face would need to do is ride them to change direction, then bail off after the course is set. Or they would need to stay on to make sure the torpedoes don’t veer off course.
I'd love to, but just sticking to the Scooby-Dooniverse is a very, very daunting task. If UA-cam was my only job, I could devote the necessary time, but at my current channel level, that's a ways away. I appreciate the enthusiasm, though! And the view and the sub!
6:23 Yeah, By this point in the Scooby Franchise Hanna-Barbara are really running out of ideas and start reusing plots from earlier episodes with the only difference being the monster and the location.
It's something that's almost impossible not to notice as time goes by, and it's FAR too early at this point in the franchise to consider it an homage! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Always great to see a new ranking video riding the 2 sharks like that sure was a cool entrance 😎 threatening looking too, one thing seems clear in the Scooby dooniverse, many authorities seem to be pretty useless 😅
I touch on this slightly in my next video, or at least point out how the Gang often go from simple meddling to full-on crime scene interference. Then again, if the Scooby-Dooniverse is populated by ineffectual law enforcement... That'd explain all the Scooby knock-offs like Goober and Jabberjaw! In a world with inept authorities, it's up to the teenagers to solve things! Thanks for your kind words and for watching and subscribing!
I remember the jaguaro episode driving me nuts for having a gorilla in the amazon lol. Specially because they had the giant sloth to work with, one of my favorite prehistoric animals as a kid.
I know, right? A giant sloth would have been a LOT more unique! Funny enough, for whatever reason, sloths are my son's favorite animal. He has a bunch of sloth stuff all over his apartment. To be fair, though, most of those were bought for him by my wife. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!
That's awesome! Even if it's on accident and she has no idea about the Scooby villain, it's still awesome! Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!
I find it interesting that the Jaguaro’s scream was not mentioned at all during this video. I personally think that should add something to the fear it can create, similar to how the Space Kook’s laugh was frightening. Also, can we consider the times the Jaguaro tried to send Shaggy and Scooby into the rapids as attempted murder? I feel like there’s at least a case to be made that Barney was at least dedicated to the scheme.
Getting older means getting wrinkles, but I have no plans to iron my face. Maybe putting a fabric softener sheet on my forehead would help. (Kids, this post is for comedic purposes only. Do not try this at home!)
Always thought both were a pretty unique set of villains and definitely one of the most iconic set of episodes in these videos so far. I'm looking forward to the Cat Creature and Vulture's Claw episodes.
I'm halfway through the script for my next video and have started some of the filming, so with luck it'll be available within a couple of weeks! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@JoeGoesOver Sounds good Joe, there's a lot of us that are looking forward to it. Only a few videos left of the series so do you know what you'll be doing after? Still continuing the ranking villains series in the next show?
I've been on Reddit for years now, but only recently signed up under my channel name after finding a few people referencing my videos there. I didn't want to post anything using my original account because the anonymity it provided allowed me to offer personal anecdotes that I wouldn't exactly want doxxed over. Nothing horrible, like racism or anything like that, but mostly personal stories of friends or family members that I wouldn't want outed. I've thought about posting new videos in the Scooby sub, but a part of me feels a bit icky doing that. I'm horrible at self-promotion, to be BROOT-ally honest. Thank you very much for your kind words and for watching and subscribing!
There’s also the appearance of a dog fish that looks just like Scooby in the Iron Face episode. Looks like unexplained moments is just part of the for course…
Just found this channel, going to binge the entire series of scooby doo reviews... You should make a scooby doo wtahc guide on what to watch everything in order 👀
I appreciate the suggestion, but right now I have my hands full just doing the villain rankings. Sadly, this channel is one of four obligations I'm having to fill, so I can't do it full-time. Thanks for watching!
Another great video joe 👍 id definitely love to see you tackle the other scooby doo shows once you finish of well "the scooby doo show". Ya know whats new Scooby doo, mystery incorporated, be cool scooby doo id love to see you do your review and breakdowns for those shows in the future especially mystery incorporated since there is alot more real supernatural stuff in that show
I love creepy case of old iron face it was one of my favorite episodes from the Scooby Doo show especially with the scene where Scooby is eating the clam chowder and the clam sneezes it’s so funny then there’s jeepers it’s the jaguaro which scared the heck out of me as a kid and still to this day
Glad to have these back after a month. 4:24 For that matter, shouldn't Scooby have already known where they were going? If the gang wanted it to be a surprise, they wouldn't have blurted it out right there since they didn't know for a fact that Captain Morgan was in trouble yet. He could've simply been running incredibly late. 9:34 Maybe he knows that it's his fault. If Hargrove was worried about the tours scaring away the convicts on Skull Island, he easily could've just told Captain Morgan to delay his tours until the investigation was completed. If something would interfere with an important investigation, the authorities would do whatever they could to resolve the issue. Between Hargrove doing nothing to stop the tours, and Captain Morgan being the one giving tours to begin with, the Scooby gang are perhaps the only people on that island who are in no way responsible for scaring off the convicts. All they did was accept an invitation to what they thought would be a fun island tour. 15:28 What about Daphne getting kidnapped? The franchise has tried to move away from Danger Prone Daphne but she's still very commonly dismissed as "that useless girl who always gets captured" and nothing else. 17:17 I always assumed the "NOOOO!!!" was Mama Mione hiding nearby in her costume and doing a creepy voice to make the place sound haunted. Maybe it's just me, but I love Old Iron Face's silly-sounding grunts. Like when Shaggy and Scooby hide in the barrel after the spotlight scene and he can't find them.
I'm guessing you've never had a dog. When you do, you learn not to use certain words until you're ready to deal with the canine reaction. Words like "walk", "outside", "park", "vet", "car" and "DoorDash" are best avoided until you're ready with the leash and/or cage. My own, for example, has learned to go into barking fits the moment I move the curtain aside to see if the food's here. In fact, she starts barking like crazy when I even say the words "food's here". Thanks for watching and commenting!
Mama Mione doing a haunted voice like that is so funny to me for some reason, especially since this is the second episode in a row to feature a moment of Shaggy asking “anybody here” and a strange moment of somebody responding back with an echoing “NOooooooo…” like a ghost. Maybe Shaggy just accidentally summons his own hauntings, you know, cause of Ultra Instinct..
This was another fun one to watch. I am wondering, though, how much pain Mama Mione would have been in after having her her metal mask attracted by the magnet? With how much force did she fly up and hit the magnet?
Someone else asked that same question and I suggested that perhaps it was whiplash that kept her from making her escape at the end while the Gang calmly unmasked her. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@JoeGoesOver, true, and with the amount of impact it hit, it makes you wonder why Film Theory isn’t exploring the Scooby Doo franchise anymore because there’s a lot we can cover there. I wonder if gravity in the Scooby verse is different from our own because Film Theory and Game Theory love to apply logic to fictional universes too..😂
One of the things I love about Scooby Doo is they don’t use retroactive logic. Mr Wickles as the black knight, that other professor as the caveman, or Mama Mione. None of these people could do the physical acts shown in costume. But since the villains were real until the unmasking, it was logical at the time!
Even as a kid I noticed the similarities between the Creepy Heap episode and Iron Face one. I think I remembered saying in my head something like "This plan is literally exactly like the one with the sea monster cyclops!"
It is sad that old iron face didn’t get at least a 3 for the D.O.O. Score he’s one of my favorites and somewhat iconic is the Scooby dooniverse having appeared in cyber chase and having Mama Mione in Franken creepy as one of the villains
There's a part of me that feels bad giving a villain a low ranking because I know someone, somewhere loves them. That's part of why I break things down the way I do because, even if the bad guy's plan is poorly-thought out or their actions are stupid, maybe at least their disguise would be cool. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!
I think there's something else about the Jagarou costume (I mispelled that didnt I?). In addition to scaring the native tribe, it could also be menacing enough to scare away other potential predators from their diamond mining. One guy goes to get the diamonds, while the other patrols the nearby area to keep away wild animals, like regular jagaurs.
In the Old Iron Face episode instead of hiding escaped convicts under the old prison, the smarter thing to do would be to tear down it down and build a casino resort, then hide them there. Casinos are already known for doing that and one that's on an island is alot harder for the cops to reach and investigate. Even if they show up the criminals would probably see them coming and have time to hide in whatever safe room the casino has.
Good point. Perhaps the organization bankrolling Mama Mione didn't have time to go that far because they already had a bunch of fugitives they needed to hide? Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!
Hah! Deep cut for some of us older folk! I can't believe it didn't occur to me to make a reference in my video, but to be fair, I wasn't the biggest Billy Joel fan. I liked a lot of his music, but for me, 'We Didn't Start the Fire' and 'Downeaster Alexa' were my faves. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!
why is that every time i think about joe that he always uploads within those 24 hours? its some weird psychic shit but its a weirdness that im perfectly okay with, quality as always my guy, also not only am i subbed, i have your channel belled, high praise indeed
You need to think about him more often 😂
dude same lol. I was just thinking yesterday when was the last time he uploaded
I literally binged a bunch of these video’s yesterday waiting for an upload. Keep your powers strong 💪

Have to admit, riding two sharks is pretty bad ass and threatening at the same time.
I know, right?
Just needed some special effects, though.
Imagine a GLOWING giant dude riding two sharks!

Old Iron Face was one of my favourite Scooby Doo villains. He looked intimidating and fearsome.
Well she actually
These two villains definitely scratched some fan itches, I can tell you that!

Jaguaro is one of my fav Scooby monsters tbh. It just reminds me of a Cryptid like animal you’d hear ppl talk about in real life
Another commenter pointed out there was a giant sloth cryptid and it is nightmare fuel!

Woke up and saw this great news. You the man joe. Your videos always put a smile to my face. Thank you
Thank you very much for saying so!
Hopefully it'll survive any delayed Content Match hits!

I always love when two of the best episodes of the show happen to be in the same video.
Both just have an absolutely amazing environment for the gang to explore.
I'm certainly getting the impression that these two are definitely fan favorites1

@@JoeGoesOver thank you very much
Here's one more literary reference: the FBI agent took the name of Captain Flint, the character from Stevenson's "Treasure Island", which... is pretty stupid on his part.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching and subscribing!
been waiting for this one , it’s the final mentioned cyber chase villain
25:05 stitch ?
Jaguaro?
These two definitely seem to be fan favorites!

Makes that line up of villains in the movie even weirder.
i love the iron face episode. jaguaro is one of those silly but yet scary monsters
Both are certainly fan favorites, if going by the comments in this and other videos is any indication!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Also, in some versions, they have one eye, and they mouth are in vertical going belly button to the middle of the chest!
Thank you very much and I hope you enjoyed it!

Well,,,,
Immagine if he was the descendant of an extradimensional alien creature that possessed the body of a regular dog...
@@matteopugliese4658 great idea. Somebody should make a series out of it
I didn't have a dog until my forties, so I had never appreciated just how much work they are to raise and keep safe.
My favorite UA-cam channel, Red Letter Media, got me through many weeks recovering from several surgeries and I'm thrilled I can do the same for others!

it's so nice to hear you apply actual logic on Scooby Doo's buggs bunny logic. It's calming and funny.
Truly, MatPat would probably love to meet you. He does specialize in finding logic in cartoon physics..😊
It all started asking questions while watching with my daughter, especially all the times the Gang broke the law while meddling.

Love these! They seriously make my dad every time they come out. Thank you
Thank you very much for saying so!
I have a few very favorite UA-camrs and I get a huge thrill when I see a new one of theirs show up in my feed.
I don't think I'm anywhere near as talented as they are, but if I can come close to evoking that same sentiment from others, it's amazing to me!

Great Video as always! Always a highlight of my day when you upload one of these videos
Thank you very much for saying so!
Reading nice comments is a highlight of my day afterward!
Thanks for watching and commenting and having a user name reminiscent of one of my favorite 80s animated films!
Your channel really helped me get over my homesickness from moving away to college. I just wanted to say thank you for making great videos!
I'm thrilled to be able to do so! Hopefully you're doing well there and not losing yourself in school work.

It's always worth the wait no matter what regardless
No problem 😊 thank you for the amazing content as always!

This was one of the first channels I subscribed to, so if you can’t see that, I’m not sure why. Either I need to do something, or UA-cam is doing UA-cam things. These are some great episodes and iconic monsters! Keep up the awesome work, since I always love your videos!

@@JoeGoesOver Thank you for making such good in depth videos about one of my favorite animated shows of all time!
Fred is just obsessed with putting everyone else's lives in danger, apparently.
Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!
Well regarding the case of the Jaguaro, there is the Mapinguari, a cryptid that some consider to be a surviving giant ground sloth...
Good GOD that's a horrific monster.
It reminds me of the Headless Horror from 'Mystery Incorporated'.

I'm subscribed. I also put on the playlist for this series while I'm sleeping, so you can get some ad revenue.
Hah! Thank you for both!
And for watching and commenting!
@JoeGoesOver yes faces of death does count for something
Subscribed and watch your videos every night. Keep it up!!
Thank you very much for doing so! I hope I manage to keep you entertained!
And thank you for watching and commenting!
I really appreciate it!
I'm glad all the hours I spend are worth it!
4:27 There was also a Skull Island in the Episode “Go Away Ghost Ship”. How many skull islands are there in the Scooby Doo universe?
Scooby writers never were one to let go of something, whether it be the hallway gag or seafood surviving boiling water deaths.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
My comment is for yt to recommend it
These days I've been paying attention to the channel, watching this video makes me so happy
I'm thrilled to hear that! Knowing my goofy stuff is being enjoyed really means the world to me!
Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to comment!
That pelican swallowing animation at 20:21 is absolutely cursed.
I real life, pelicans swallowing things absolutely is nightmare fuel!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I love your videos man, your up there with Dr Wolfula when it comes to scooby doo
Morning joe again always good to see a new episode you know at this point i think i want to make a worst villian carl the stuntman shirt lol
Funny you should say that...
Well, stay tuned at any rate.
And thank you very much for watching, subscribing and supporting my channel!
@JoeGoesOver ooo curious to see what you're cooking but will stay tuned for it
@@JoeGoesOver 20:08: One thing I hate about the Scooby franchise (aside from turning Velma into a cynic that turns down possible mystic elements, like in Curse of the 13th Ghost) is that a lot of people keep insinuating that the Scooby Snacks are a bribe rather than an incentive. Although you would consider their investigative operations as illegal, it doesn’t change the fact that Scooby and Shaggy were given Scooby Snacks as an incentive, not only as something for their stomachs, but also to get the crime scene to be done and over with fast. That being said, I will agree that a third party messing with their chances is bull honkey, and they should’ve made a comment on it like “after this investigation, we’re demand them to give us our unpaid reward.”
Also, 24:59: I’m guessing saying “Worst Pet Owners Ever” was getting old.
Carl the Stuntman is the most incompetent Scooby-Doo villain of all time.
IMO if they wanted to have a huge fearl animal like monster they should of choose the Snow Ghost. I through he was a much cooler monster .@@sawnoff95

Great video joe been waiting for the jaguro
Thank you for the kind words and I hope you enjoyed it!
If you thought proper sizing was bad here, just wait for my next upload.
Sheesh!
Thanks for watching, commenting and supporting my channel!
I knew about Jaguaro, but didn't knew the episode took place in Brazil!
And yeah the head hunter natives are cringe as hell and we don't have gorillas here lol
Gotta watch it and see if they did the classic mistake of making brazilian people speak Spanish, but judging by the "señorita" at the beginning... I have low hopes
Great video as always Joe!
It's good to see a video after over a month. I got worried about you
But that only raises even more questions, like who buys that many boats that they'd be up to their seventh?
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hell yeah I'm subscribed. Fuckin' awesome channel, keep it up, Joe!
Thank you very much for that!
And the kind words!
And for watching!
Great video.
One small correction, Alligator aren't found in South America, the crocodilians found in the Brazil is their close relatives, Caimans.
If this keeps up, I'm going to have to make a video that the caiman in the river was really an alligator, just like I did with Professor Pericles being an owl!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Captain Morgan probably sunk his own boat while drunk and blamed it on the ghost.
How do you know he was drunk though?
Captain Morgan is an alcohol brand. That's why I made the joke.
I was THIIIIIIIIIS close to doing a running gag about Captain Morgan rum, but I just couldn't get it to fit well.
Seeing the johnny quest clips in this episode gives me hope that someday you will make raking The johnny quest villains.
Followed by Dynomutt
I'd love to, but just sticking to the Scooby-Dooniverse is a very, very daunting task.
If UA-cam was my only job, I could devote the necessary time, but at my current channel level, that's a ways away.
I appreciate the enthusiasm, though!
And the view and the sub!
Thanks for the amazing video
Thanks for the amazing comments!

@@JoeGoesOver oh nice, look forward to seeing it
I remember the jaguaro episode driving me nuts for having a gorilla in the amazon lol.

My mom doesn’t say the Jacksonville Jaguars she says the Jacksonville Jaguaro😂
Lol same!! I always call them the Jaguaros 😂
That's awesome!
Even if it's on accident and she has no idea about the Scooby villain, it's still awesome!

@@JoeGoesOver she does know about the Scooby-Doo villain that’s why she calls them that
I find it interesting that the Jaguaro’s scream was not mentioned at all during this video.
Argh. Good point! I didn't even touch upon the attempted murder! Arrgh!!!

Getting older means getting wrinkles, but I have no plans to iron my face.
Maybe putting a fabric softener sheet on my forehead would help.
(Kids, this post is for comedic purposes only. Do not try this at home!)
I understood that joke 😂
My face is large enough I'd probably need one of those industrial steamers they use at the dry cleaners.

@@JoeGoesOver Sounds good Joe, there's a lot of us that are looking forward to it.
Only a few videos left of the series so do you know what you'll be doing after? Still continuing the ranking villains series in the next show?
I'm planning on hitting 'Cyber Chase' to round out the Scooby Renaissance, then probably the next sequential series.
Scrappy, here we come. *sigh
Love these ! So stupid UA-cam is hurting you ! Have you considered posting these in the scooby doo subreddit

Another great video joe 👍 id definitely love to see you tackle the other scooby doo shows once you finish of well "the scooby doo show". Ya know whats new Scooby doo, mystery incorporated, be cool scooby doo id love to see you do your review and breakdowns for those shows in the future especially mystery incorporated since there is alot more real supernatural stuff in that show
I'd love to get there myself. It's slow going, but with luck I'll get there eventually!
Thanks for watching and for your nice words!
I love creepy case of old iron face it was one of my favorite episodes from the Scooby Doo show especially with the scene where Scooby is eating the clam chowder and the clam sneezes it’s so funny then there’s jeepers it’s the jaguaro which scared the heck out of me as a kid and still to this day
Not so funny for that poor clam surviving the boiling stew water! 😃

So much superhuman strength in the earlier series that later ones would at least offer a mechsuit to explain!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hell yeah new episode
Hell, yeah, new comment!
Even as a kid I noticed the similarities between the Creepy Heap episode and Iron Face one.
I think I remembered saying in my head something like "This plan is literally exactly like the one with the sea monster cyclops!"
I had a similar moment the first time I watched 'Thunderball' years after having seen 'Never Say Never Again'.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
That's a good aspect, but you'd think the hostile tribe nearby would have made local jungle predators wary of the neighborhood.
I think Mama Mione should've left a note on the door, saying "Sonny, move out to the country."
from the Billy Joel Song Moving up
