Bloody Heretic Seeing as your name has “Bloody” in it, I’d say you’re understood reasonably well.
If we go by the slightly older model of chaos having aspects like hope for tzeench and honesty for khorne etc is not evil if worshipped responsibly. However as it stands the pantheon misses one giant hole that could be filled by the emperor. If they go without this, chaos will forever and only be a destroyer. What chaos needs is a god of restraint and self sacrifice. Because as it stands, chaos incentivises being selfish too much, and you can't make a functioning society without restraint and sacrifice in some aspect to the greater whole

I'd think that the Chaos gods would at least take care of their followers so as to have a steady supply of followers, and at least allow them to do the little things in life that strengthen the Ruinous Powers.
Khorne- checking blood sugar levels by drawing blood, small blood sacrifices on a regular basis, regular exercise.
Nurgle- composting food scraps.
Tzeentch- trying new things regularly.
Slaanesh- Epicureanism as a philosophy.

Speaking of counters to chaos, isn't it funny then that we have the two alternatives to chaos already in universe.
On the side of mind control, you have the Tau, who have the etherial's iron grip upon the greater good, the orks, who despite being some of the most inherently chaotic of xenos in the universe only have two gods, and the tyranids, whose gestalt "consciousness" makes them the most perfect extreme in the mind control department. On the other side you have the necrons and their desire to murderface the universe and leave it a wasteland devoid of warp creating life.
The problem with nurgle and cows analogy is that, even without nurgle or khorne or whatever actively trying to make more and more extreme emotions, they would still exist, since there will still be those emotions, just a bit less of them. So yeah they'd lose power, but they wouldn't die. Meanwhile, a human without food will die. It's not just there to be delicious. It would like humans being immortal, without needing sustenance and still killing cows because they are tasty. That is evil.
Chaos is not a evil alien force. It is humanity, it is aeldari, etc. It is a more pure form of humanity made manifest. You can fight a force but you can not fight yourself.

Chaos is inherently evil. Evil is a dictionary word with a meaning, and the word wouldn't exist without its meaning. The Warp, as you have described it, is not inherently evil. But the Warp in service to the sentient Chaos entities is surely evil. I think, or I hope, what you mean is the power of the warp requires sentient and malicious intent in order to be evil. Therefore the ruinous powers are just that; Evil. And furthermore, since the Emperor has a 'presence in the warp as an entity' as you described it, and the Imperium absolutely does perform blood sacrifices to the Emperor on a daily basis (1,000 psykers a day IRRC), then by this definition the Emperor is now inherently evil, and by extension the Imperium is an evil organizaiton.

I think that Chaos is not inherently evil , let's not forget that the Chaos god represent good emotions too . The only problem is that there are more bad emotions than good emotions in the galaxy . For example Khorne may be a force of anger and hate but he is at the same time a force of honor and courage or Tzeentch after all change can be good or evil .
1v0i well I think it is important to mention that the warp and chaos are not necessary the same thing. I mean we know the warp existed prior to the chaos gods and since they arrived it’s hard d to argue that their existence has been a net positive in the long run. In the end it doesn’t matter if they are good or evil or the embodiment of all our emotions. They are a net negitive on the sentient races of the galaxy and are unnecessary forces since it seemed like sentient beings were doing just fine in the pleasure/perfection department before slenesh came about. The same logic could be applied to before the other gods to. In the end they are just a cancer growing in the warp.

From what I know of the lore (and I might be very wrong ...) . The warp is basicly the realm of souls but because of the many wars (specially The War in Heaven) and then with the birth of slanesh - the barriers in the warp that kept chaos at bay broke ... Chaos consumed everything and it turned into the warp we know today .
More bad emotions than positive emotions (because endless war everywhere) = The chaos gods are evil .
I even think slanesh existed but in a really minor form before his birth . Because lust,passion,pain ect ... existed before slanesh was "born" . Just the big accumulations of those emotions made slanesh self-aware (and powerful like the other 3) .
To put it short for me chaos have aways existed . As long as there are emotions , there will be chaos .

Is Chaos inherently evil/malevolent? Of course it is, as long as you don't mistake it with Warp and Immaterium, despite being basically the exact same thing they're also different from each other.
In simple terms Immaterium is the emotion dumpster for any sentient being in Materium, Warp is all those emotions gathered into garbage piles, and Chaos is sentience of several garbage piles.

Though with the sheer size of the two maybe he'll at least go on to one of their behind the scenes podcasts hosted by one of the voice actors, though the name doesn't come to mind. I don't think that would be unlikely in it's self.

Is chaos truly evil? The awnser is it doesnt matter. It wants us, it hungers for us and we must fight them eveyrwhere,with bolter and aquila we must fight them evrywhere from the densest of hives to the most remote agriworld, from the sun to the fartest star. As long as a single human draws breath we must fight against chaos for it hungers for us and to give in is to admit you have lost. It is to admit that all those sacrifices taken from the birth of mankind have been in vain.

Isn't Chaos the reflection of a collective consciousness of all sentient beings? As in, if the races are peacefully living together, the Warp is peaceful. Same goes for the other way around.
That requires perfect individuals, as well as ones with a willingness to have peace. And considering how eldar have a level of hubris and feeling of superiority to the level that their word for human is treated with the same level of insult as calling a Caucasian human a shortened version of the word Nigeria in the 60’s, that would be impossible with elves. Now In the case of the necrons or tyranids it’s like trying to negotiate with nature. The orks is just a idiotic idea because...well Their orks. The imperium could be getting off the ledge of extinction if it didn’t continue to flip the bird at anything it thinks slightly “heretical”. And the tau will probably sterilelize all dissidents.
That is not true, the Eldar Empire existed for many millions of years and nothing happened while DAOT humans managed to get along with everyone just fine despite being "young and naive" is such a thing can be said about the fellas who blasted star systems apart.
Chaos reflects the state of the galaxy as a whole, it does not require perfect individuals, just ones that have more positive than negative emotions. It is because of the iron war (which killed most sentient life) and the fall of the Eldar happening at the same time that Chaos became what it is in the 42nd millennium

“Got along with everyone.” The plasma gun and the chainsword were still created, and considering a chainsword is basically a thing that lets one fight Orkz with some chance of winning, there is still war. Also how would one be able to make the dark eldar peaceful? Sorry if I am uninformed, but didn’t they have to use their hedonistic tendencies to keep Slaanesh from stealing their souls? Also the peace would require the holes within the warp to be closed completely, considering how the chaos gods use their influence to go through, a hard to do endeavor, if not impossible.

Very good explanation about Slaanesh. So often misunderstood, even misconstrued by GW themselves. Slaanesh wants excess... even excess piety and obedience. With a little wriggling even Space Marines can be accidentally worshiping Slaanesh. So many argue the game lore could do without that chaos god. I think she/he is the most insidious and possibly interesting.
Of course chaos is evil, it killed our beloved angel Sanguinius!

The Blood Gorgons in the book series actively have tried to liberate Imperial Planets simply to have them be free and be able to care for themselves.
Imagine that being in the warp gaining power over time and that is actually a separate entity from the real emperor. Now imagine that, somehow, the real big E returns giving that warp entity a powerful boost due to the increase in the believe in the Emprah such an event would bring. Now imagine that it starts kicking it's plans into second gear and actively tries to wipe all sentient life, as this would accomplish its ultimate directive of destroying chaos. And then the real emperor realizes that he will have fight the greatest threat to the Galaxy ever, himself...
I know I am late to the party but I couldn't resist, it just hit me.
It's funny, I was messing with this very idea with a minor faction that I thought up that would use warp energy to help "refine" materials. This would take the form of runes that would be specialized to carry out a certain task.
The refinement process would separate the more demonic aspects of the warp from the energy used to enrich the material in question, and this would create a faction that saw the forces of chaos as not just demons, but as sentient masses of industrial waste.
Then again when has the warp ever been so simple of a thing to deal with, after all the last race that "tamed" the warp murder fucked a chaos god into existence and nearly destroyed themselves.

Here's the thing. I created a scenario where a space marine chapter came across my faction and after witnessing one of my Assarian "Lords" (think melee focused shocktroopers)in combat... Well lets just say it took a lot of luck for him to avoid getting personal with the chapters bolter fire.
Reason: lords make special use of a rune called "devour" where they siphon a portion of their fallen enemies essence as a way to empower themselves and to keep their personal shields and sidearms from ever getting close to getting depleted. Yeah... The only saving grace is that my faction absolutely despised chaos and registered demons as angry garbage at best. Plus the marines got to witness my faction telling the Tau to go fuck themselves and if they didn't leave their space they would blow their ship to bits.
That only happened because chaos had already been created by the War in Heaven and they did nothing to try to fix the state of the immaterium. Slaanesh's birth could have been averted if they as a race had even a billionth of the Emperor's power or forethought.
Kagji or you know, thought for a second and said "I don't think its a good idea to shove a razor blade covered dildo up my own ass" but yeah, hindsight can be a bit of a bitch.
I mean, they were aware of the problem. They just decided it didn't concern them, like the arrogant fucks they are.

I don't think chaos is evil, but corrupting on nature. Evil doesn't really apply to them, yes, abbadon is evil, but the Chaos isn't anymore evil than a shark is.
Chaos is to a world where psychic energy is real what gamma and x-ray radiation is to physics.

This logic might work for the Tyranids, but not the Chaos gods. They are fully intelligent, autonomous beings who could simply choose not to hurt mortals, but do it anyway out of their selfish, sadistic desires.

A distinction must be made between Chaos and the four Chaos Gods. Chaos in itself is neutral. Chaos Gods are right bastards.

In my opinion, even the Chaos Gods are not evil, Abadon is evil. He is fully sentient and empathetic to the suffering and destruction he causes, but Khorne is no more evil than a human who eats cows, he cannot empathize truly with we lower life forms.
He only cares that the blood flows so that he might win the great game, but Kharn? Kharn is evil, wether his backstory is cool, he is killing others with no justification. The moral chaos champions that understand Chaos know that they effect Chaos, they know that their beliefs have effect on the warp, ergo they know they serve no higher power outside of their own construct, they have no justification for their heinous crimes.
But a bloodletter? He is no more evil than a lion amongst hungry sheep.
Essentially I look at it like this, if a bear eats a human threatening it's young, the bear is not evil, but if say you chopped up your bothersome neighbor and fed it to the same bear, (like Abbadon did to Cadia) you are most definitely evil...

That's why I draw the distinction between the Warp and Chaos. Warp is natural, Chaos is evil.
Khorne is a Warp god of Chaos. Khaine is an Eldar Warp god of Order.
Even the Chaos Gods can have positive aspects
Khorne violence can be seen martial prowess and improving your strength
Nurgle is also about renewal and the creation of new life
Slaanesh can also be about passion and joy, not just debauchery
The God of Change can also be about wisdom and avoiding stagnation
I'm going to say no, chaos isn't evil. I'd think of chaos as a deadly disease, like the black death. You have flees infected with the disease which spread it to human hosts who in turn spread it to others, killing thousands. We don't regard the disease or the flees as evil, they are doing as it is meant to do, as it evolved to do; like chaos. But with that in mind, the black death was still a threat to man that needed to be removed, just like chaos.
I'd argue that the Chaos Gods themselves are evil because they have the intelligence to be evil but Chaos in of itself isn't evil and is in fact a necessary part of organic existence.

The part about chaos slowly corrupting its victims reminds me of a quote, I forgot who made it. I also don't really remember some of it so I will put down what i do remember. The quote is something along the lines of, "Those who use the Devil's toys will be brought by degrees to wield his sword." It's from the intro to X-Com Enemy Within.
Malice.... What about. Look on how it cannot not exist as each time a chaos faction attacks another, confusion ensues. As confusion ensues within chaos, then the powers of all 4 decrease. This is malice. It neednt be an entity. Chaos cannot win without fighting itself.
Finally the necrons and nids cannot win as the chaos gods would do everything to prevent them killing to many souls.
