Will never forget my first time boarding a Pan Am 747 in 1974. Was in Panama City, no jetway just portable stairs, raining cats an dogs and each passenger was handed a large blue/white Pan Am umbrella. Upon entering the plane I recall thinking the door was large enuf for a VW bug to fit thru. It was Christmas day- only 35 passengers total- we had a fine turkey dinner en route to SFO w/stops in Guatemala city and LAX and were allowed to explore the entire plane. What a first impression! What an awesome, beautiful jet!
The shot of the Cargolux -8F landing with the China Airlines -400 taking off behind it was EPIC!. Nice tribute to the greatest machine ever created by man!
Agreed! I saw many in Frankfurt, along with a ton of -400s and A380s. I can't believe the size of the engines now on the -8. I've seen some videos of it rotating only 1/3rd down the runway.
Lucky enough to have flown on 747-100, 200, SP and 400. Without a doubt the most beautiful aircraft to ever fly. Sadly, even with the 800, her days are numbered.
@@alexp3752 Hopefully, sadly though, they stopped making them a couple of months ago already ): (It’s the 1st of February 2023 and I think they stopped in the first days of December 2022).
There is nothing more beautiful/spectacular than seeing these 747's taking off, landing, in the sky at @40,000 ft. No other commercial aircraft has done more for air transport cargo/people than the 747 since it's inception in 1969/70.
What a beauty. I will never forget the time I flew on a Qantas 747-400 frm Auckland to Los Angeles (QFA25/H). Those beautiful rolls royce engines. The last of the Qantas 747-400s leave in 2019/2020.
GREAT VIDEO, my Dad was part of Joe Sutters "gang of 5" who invented the 747 and the SP was my Dads airplane from design, production, flight testing and sales (VP of SP Production) he then went on to do the same for what is now the 767
Abso-fucking-lutely the most fantastic and impressive airplane ever made. The A380 is big, ok, but it wouldn't hold your attention for 10 minutes like the 747s did.
@@bbrenddon the A380 is the Super Jumbo. There was a time that Boeing wanted to release a super jumbo, but they decided against it as the first rumors about Airbus building a super jumbo started up.
The 747 has never lost the title of "Queen of the skies" due to its design. It has an heir of royalty surrounding it, from the wing box to the wing tips, it is a royal aircraft. I think it has a lot to do with the philosophical difference in the designs of the 747 compared to the A380. The 747 was designed to offer a new experience of luxury to flying, the other was just about being the biggest. It shows in the design a lot more than one would expect.
Such a gorgeous plane. My friend flies 787-8 and he says the most fun to fly for him will always be the 747. Apart from his all time which was the mig 21
queen of the sky forever in our heart...even if those young A380,777,A330,787,A350...take the aviation scenery...good video.only miss the testbed of pratt and whitney and the ABL...
+DryBonesGamer2005 awwwww Mr.Bones, i hate to break it to you but if you like the A300, A310 and A340 it means that you DO like Airbus. Bless, your whats called a 'secret' Airbus fan, you just too stuborn to admit it...;-)
The 747-8F has a real awesome grace about it although i'm an airbus fan and particularly want the A380 programme to get more orders. I do often wonder why Boeing don't go all out and stretch the whole deck on the 747-8i though??
The Queen of the sky is a masterful piece of engineering. 50 years ago comments were made. "Boeing will go broke with such a monstrosity, referring to her size." I was at Miami International in 1970 when the first 74 landed to show herself off to the public and the press. The monstrosity still flies today. The 380, 13 years old will be a thing of the past. C'ya!
A single new derivative of the 787, the -10, a variant that's been in development much longer than the A350-1000, has sold 100+ aircraft behind closed doors before it was even unveiled to unknowing competitors. I call that a success story.
The 747-8i has had 10 orders recently from korean air. The 747-8F Has been very succsessful and there are many more 747-400f's and 747-400's that will be replaced by the 8. The 747 will always be the queen of the sky :)
When Boeing launched the 747-8, it already had a version for a passenger and a freighter...the A380 only launched a passenger version and having trouble of the freighter version...so i guess the 747 is still the dominant jumbo in the skies...Go Boeing!!
LOL...Is all a matter of perspective! The B747, a thing of beauty? In TWA when I started flying the B707 & the CV880/990 were the king's of the sky and then we got the B747-121, B747-200 & B747SP and my favorite from the wide bodies, L1011. As grotesque as the A380 looks to you, that's how grotesque the B747 look to us. She became the belle of the ball? But I still have a soft spot for the CV990, "The Bullet" she held the fastest cruising speed shy of the SST/Concorde in commercial aviation :-)
That SP in the beginning had interestingly shaped engine spinner markings... I know that some airlines and engine manufacturers have different markings, but that particular one looked especially rare!
I agree. The A380 aircraft may win on size, but I feel like something is lacking aesthetically. Personally, I feel that the Boeing 747 aircraft has a look and architectural design that is unique from all other types of commercial aircraft.

Shingi Sa Agreed
McDonell Douglas DC-10 Intercontinental is the most beautiful commercial airliner built to date.
Shingi Sa the 787 is in my opinion
Shingi Sa. Agreed. I wish they make an even bigger version of it with largest wingspan to make it perfect for all generations to come.
Lucky enough to have flown on 747-100, 200, SP and 400. Without a doubt the most beautiful aircraft to ever fly. Sadly, even with the 800, her days are numbered.
Not at all. Once passenger service is no longer considered profitable,t he 747 will continue on for decades as a high volume freighter.
You must be old

Why is it so beautiful? I can't stop watching it, it's my favorite airplane, there will never be another...for me
Some notes on which models are being flown would be great!
I prefer the A320 series over the B737 but I think the 747 is nicer than the A380 , there's something majestic about her.
Wow.
That's cool to know.
Just for fun, in what ways is the, 747 nicer?
I have never been on either one.
Flew on one as an 11 year old. I never knew how lucky I was.
The 747-8 is definitely a great new model of the still awesome 747 series
I am no expert, but I think All of the 747 fleet family are graceful, beautiful and amazing.
I love the cloudy wing effect on some of the shots. Brilliant!
RIP Mr. Sutter . 747 is a 10 out of 10 !!
747SP is the cutest looking plane and 747-8 is the most fabulous looking plane in history.
Indeed,She is the Queen of all aircrafts, she is a living legend
The Cargolux in foreground with the 4F (I think) in the background is a killer shot.
747 the Queen of the air will never forgot in minds.
Great compilation.. The 747...forever queen of the skies. Thanks speedbird.
hmasurg he is a king not a queen lol
The True Queen of the Skies. This Plane has always been and will always be my Favorite.
The 747 will always be "the jumbo jet"
You forget about a380
DeluxeBestOfTheBest u answered 5 years later lol
No one ‘forgot about’ the A380. The A380 just isn’t as beautiful, elegant, nor as revolutionary as the Boeing 747.
@@bbrenddon the A380 is the Super Jumbo. There was a time that Boeing wanted to release a super jumbo, but they decided against it as the first rumors about Airbus building a super jumbo started up.

Very cool photos of aircraft.. The 747SP's are nice..The 747-400's and now the 800's are nice...Very cool...
The best part was the Cargolux 74' landing and the China Cargo 74' taking off.... Great video.
747's RULE the sky :) :) :) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
That twin 747 shot. Absolute gold.
This is my favorite plane. 1: 16- amazing!
Being a big 747 fan! We are love 747s jumbo jets! Keep them flying for another 40 years.
I remember being able to go up into the cockpit on an Amsterdam to Atlanta KLM flight back in 94 with my young son, awesome. Pre 9/11 days mind you.
The 747-8i is my favorite variant of the 747

thanks for the video!! beautiful and it surely shows uve put a lotta time and effort into it!

Aww... The 747SP is so cute! :D
Make the most of em while you can, they're gonna become rare over the next few years !
Being a total Airbus fan to the end, lol, im loath to admit this but i love the look on the 747-8i. Its a beautiful plane.

Amazing shot. Is the SP an economic aircraft?
The LH 748 is so great and powerful!!
I will always love the 747s the most above any other airplane
SP means special performance :-)
Thought it was Super Prat
It might as well be "short penis", as it looks so stubby and small!
