- The Boeing 747 is a wide-body commercial airliner and cargo transport aircraft, often referred to by its original nickname, Jumbo Jet, or Queen of the Skies. It is among the world's most recognizable aircraft and was the first wide-body ever produced. Manufactured by Boeing's Commercial Airplane unit in the United States, the original version of the 747 was two and a half times the size of the Boeing 707, one of the common large commercial aircraft of the 1960s. First flown commercially in 1970, the 747 held the passenger capacity record for 37 years.
Will never forget my first time boarding a Pan Am 747 in 1974. Was in Panama City, no jetway just portable stairs, raining cats an dogs and each passenger was handed a large blue/white Pan Am umbrella. Upon entering the plane I recall thinking the door was large enuf for a VW bug to fit thru. It was Christmas day- only 35 passengers total- we had a fine turkey dinner en route to SFO w/stops in Guatemala city and LAX and were allowed to explore the entire plane. What a first impression! What an awesome, beautiful jet!
Lucky enough to have flown on 747-100, 200, SP and 400. Without a doubt the most beautiful aircraft to ever fly. Sadly, even with the 800, her days are numbered.
Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental is the most beautiful commercial airliner built to date.
Abso-fucking-lutely the most fantastic and impressive airplane ever made. The A380 is big, ok, but it wouldn't hold your attention for 10 minutes like the 747s did.

GREAT VIDEO, my Dad was part of Joe Sutters "gang of 5" who invented the 747 and the SP was my Dads airplane from design, production, flight testing and sales (VP of SP Production) he then went on to do the same for what is now the 767
The shot of the Cargolux -8F landing with the China Airlines -400 taking off behind it was EPIC!. Nice tribute to the greatest machine ever created by man!

I prefer the A320 series over the B737 but I think the 747 is nicer than the A380 , there's something majestic about her.

There is nothing more beautiful/spectacular than seeing these 747's taking off, landing, in the sky at @40,000 ft. No other commercial aircraft has done more for air transport cargo/people than the 747 since it's inception in 1969/70.
What a beauty. I will never forget the time I flew on a Qantas 747-400 frm Auckland to Los Angeles (QFA25/H). Those beautiful rolls royce engines. The last of the Qantas 747-400s leave in 2019/2020.
747 the Queen of the air will never forgot in minds.
I am no expert, but I think All of the 747 fleet family are graceful, beautiful and amazing.
The 747-8 is definitely a great new model of the still awesome 747 series
