Farriers are seriously overlooked. They are literally supporting the feet of the animals supporting the farming industry. I think people forget that in a similar way to how it's important to trim our nails as people, animals need to maintain their nails and hooves as well. I'm not a farmer myself, but my mother's side of the family are, so I am familiar with the lifestyle. I've noticed that people often take farm work for granted, even though we all benefit from them. Channels like this are really helpful for both education and acknowledging family farms.
That aside, thank you for your service as well.

I've faced a similar dilemma to the "don't over grow" one you faced here. When I was a kid, I ran outside barefoot after a bad storm. A part of a barn roof had come off, and I stepped on a huge exposed nail. My mom was so mad, and she kept saying that "This is why we wear shoes outside!". Well, we get to the ER and the doctor takes one look at my foot and the nail and says "Good thing you weren't wearing shoes, that could have landed you in surgery". I'm still riding that high five years later!

@@katekreamelmeyer9951. Hi Kate, I have just reported the
Ar**hole who made that cruel and totally unacceptable comment! 🤬
I hope you can ignore the negative stuff that some people feel entitled to put on here.
I'm so glad that Graham is helping with your recovery. Depression and anxiety are life stealing conditions. I know as I have suffered myself on a number of occasions. It seems to be genetic in my family having five generations of multiple sufferers. I've often wondered if we have unaturally low levels of seratonin? 🤔
Enough about me, I'm currently doing fine.🤗
Watching You tube definitely helps doesn't it? I think its partly that we're distracted away from our own thoughts, which is really good because they are so totally negative. Living in our own heads when going through a bad patch is not a good place to be but often we don't feel like doing anything, going anywhere, seeing anyone, or talking even to family and friends.
Anything that can help distract us from our own thoughts will be helpful. I really hope these small steps keep helping you to gradually get back to where you want to be in life, and you will get there, you're already starting to feel and believe you're getting better. better. You confirmed that by telling Graeme. Thats a big step in itself, so good on you!😍
Have you ever tried mindfulness? I've found it helpful. Its another way of distracting me from my own thoughts. Loads on UA-cam of course.
We all have to recover in our own way and at a pace we can cope with. Don't ever beat yourself up for not doing things you think you should. Some days will be better and others make us feel like crawling into a dark hole. Don't put yourself under more pressure. Be kind to yourself, don't feel guilty and "don't sweat the small stuff"! Celebrate every victory however small, remember it is still a positive! 🏅😍 Sometimes chatting to a complete stranger can help. If you ever need a sympathetic and empathetic ear, I have two!😁Just remember we are 5 hours ahead of you here in the uk! 😴
I'm off to bed now. Have a good evening watching hoof trimming and the beautiful scenery of the west coast of Scotland "Gods own Country" I love it there, Its a healing place! 🥰. Take care Kate, I'll be thinking of you and sending positive vibes. 💜

I once walked around for months with an embroidery needle stuck vertically up my foot without knowing it when I was a kid. Embroidery needles are very thin. I remember I felt a sharp pinch in my foot walking in my house, but I ignored it because I saw there was nothing there and no bleeding, so I was like "whatever just one of those nerve pain moments." but I started feeling a pinch whenever I walked afterwards, except no matter how much I examined my foot I couldn't see anything. And while I felt pain, it wasn't PAIN. Until one day my mom was like "why are you limping so much....." and she decided to look at my foot with a magnifying glass because we were thinking it was a bad invisible bug bite or something. She squeezed my foot just to see if puss or blood would come out anywhere so we could find a wound... and out came an embroidery needle!!! It was a WTF moment. But it was seriously so thin and small, that's why it didn't leave a visible puncture wound or blood, and why I felt it, but it wasn't extraordinary pain either.

As a carpenter whose grandparents owned a dairy farm I find this addictive. My grandfather was a tough old bloke but loved his kids and grandkids. I used to watch him in his old milking shed. He'd put the cows in the stall then manually wash them down before putting the suction cups on. Then he'd stand there and scratch his cows on the back or around the ears while talking to them gently while they are their grain and mollasses. My grandfather and grandmother treated their cattle with tender care and the cows were so easy to handle and complete relaxed in the shed. They pretty much used to round themselves up at milking time both ends of the day. They had their routine and some would seek out grandad for some scratches or pats and a treat of sweetened grain. At five years old I'd walk in amongst those cattle and the only danger was getting my toes stood on. Unless of course their was a first time mum with a new born calf they can get very protective but of course my grandparents knew every Cow and knew not to put us in danger. My grandmother had a very tough life but was the sweetest most gentle lady you'd ever meet but was as strong as an ox. I fondly remember my girlfriend meeting her when she was 91. Carol shook hands with her and grandma almost crushed her fingers with her tough but arthritic iron grip. Years of digging out weeds and shrub with a pick and shovel and cutting firewood had made her strong.. My grandad was a grumpy old fella but there is no doubt in my mind he was devoted to his family. I miss them both very much and long for happier, simpler times
