Please let us know what the issue was, even if it's not something you can fix, Graeme.
@@Unknown-qp9ur Which is something that a) only the vet could probably use and interpret, especially for subtle changes and b) still wouldn't necessarily show the cause of the pain. I spent six weeks as a kid with a raging wound infection after having a piece of wood penetrate the palm of my hand and end up wedged behind the bone of my finger (and yes that's as gross and painful as it sounds) I can tell you that I had multiple x-rays and ultrasounds, wound explorations and so on - and it was only when they decided to do exploratory surgery that they finally found a chunk of wood that was half an inch long and a quarter inch wide and deep, slowly rotting away inside the flesh of my finger. How I didn't end up with full-on sepsis, I do not know, because I sure remember the weeks of pain, fever and repeatedly having the main wound reopened to drain out the pus. But finding the source? In cases like this sometimes the best thing to do is give them a course of anti-biotics and let the infection run its course so that it will reveal itself by bursting out or creating a double sole. Also Portable X-Ray machines are really expensive and can be quite sensitive, so taking them onto a farm isn't necessarily a good idea.
It is entirely possible that it isn't even the hoof that is the problem. There are a lot of bones and joints that could make putting weight on that leg painful. The Hoof is just the most common place for problems, and infections are some of the most common problems to find, so trimming the hoof and a round of antibiotics are great first steps to try without having to spend a bunch of time and money on diagnostic tests. If the easy/common stuff doesn't help, and it doesn't improve on its own, the vet has additional diagnostic options available to keep looking for a cause. It's just more cost effective, when the animal's life isn't in immediate danger, to try the simple stuff first.
I'm a city person and I don't understand any of this, but I love watching your videos because I can see that you do it with passion, congratulations. God bless you

Hopefully that big gorgeous Charolais will feel better soon.
That's a beautiful bull maybe the vet should check all the joints from the shoulder down could be a bone problem and not the hoof at all.
Oh, for goodness sake!!...I was getting increasingly worried as that nail got longer and longer...and dumfounded at the length of it...what 4'' or even 6'' poor wee Angus...thankfully you were on hand to help him.
Bless you and the boys and all the families😃🌠
I love your channel and what you do for the animals. It's become my new happy place. Please restock the Herd t-shirts soon. I really want to get one. You do ship to the states I hope.
I'm so invested in the bulls treatment. I'm really hoping he recovers soon
I love that there are basically two kinds of Scottish English; the one that other English speakers can basically understand...and the one that only happens between people who have spent a decent amount of time trying to talk Scots through the effects of alcohol.
I hope they both make a full recovery!! That hurt watching you pull out that nail!!!
I think the problem sits at the height of the shoulder! Best wishes for the Bull ❤ And good work!
I am soo happy for hat you found the problem with the bull’s foot.
Bless he’s heart I felt sorry for him 😢
What was the problem?
Great update. Can ya imagine a nail that size in your foot, well I can, had one go all the way through my foot when I was young, through my boot, foot and back through the top of my boot again. Ouchhhhhh
HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF A SMALL METAL DECTOR YOU COULD WAVE OVER THE HOOFS TO SEE IF ITS A NAIL OR WHAT NOT AND WHERE?
Hope he doesn't have an infection in his ankle bone.
Poor guy...he didn't stop doing his deed last time despite.
Looking forward to your next update 🌻
I love the sound of the rain in this one. Have you ever considered a hoof gp sleep video. 10 h of soft mooing and the grinder with a bit of soft music? Lol
Thanks for helping the cows 🐄
