Everything you can see in Park Fundadores Playa Del Carmen

Parque Los Fundadores, or Founding Fathers Park was where Playa Del Carmen all started. Back in the 70's Playa was a small fishing village that had the pier for the ferry over to Cozumel. This park was there to see everything grow around it. Today, this park is one of the most known places in Playa Del Carmen. If you are coming to Playa Del Carmen, you should visit this park.

One of the most talked about things from this park are the Maya dancers and Papantla dancers from Veracruz, Mexico. During the day there are free shows in this park. The best time to come is late afternoon when it is fresher, and the shows are closer together. The shows are free, but tips are appreciated.
Park Fundadores was also just renovated during the pandemic. If you have not seen it in a while, check out the new steps that create a little more of an amphitheater feel to the park.

I lived in Playa years ago and plan to go back as it's my 2nd home, but to find out it started in 1974 when I was born bought me so much joy ❤!! Is there a set schedule when the Mayan shows are and with the men from Veracruz do the swinging?

The shows are throughout the day with breaks in between. The good thing is they rotate so one is working while the other is resting. They start around 11 am and the Mayan dancers will be there after is get dark. I think the best time might be around 5 or 6 pm when it is a little cooler and many people are out for the evening on 5th Avenue and the shows are closer together.
