Yal ku -The Special Snorkel Spot in Akumal

Yal Ku is an inlet between Playa Del Carmen and Tulum where you can snorkel. This inlet (also called lagoon) is an amazing place to snorkel because you can see tropical fish in the crystal-clear waters of Yal Ku.

Hi thank you, I'm going in July and will check out your website. Although, when I lived in Playa in 2006-2007, Akumal was known for its turtles! Is it not the case anymore? Thanks

We will have our article online later today. We are just finishing it. Akumal is known for swimming with the turtles in the bay. It has become so popular it is more regulated. It is still very crowded, so we don't recommend it a lot. We have seen turtles in Yal Ku in the past. Now the area close to the ocean is roped off, so you cannot go to all parts of the inlet. But you might get lucky when you go.
