Alan, thanks for posting~! Your channel continues to be a treasure trove for those of us who love classic movies, and the stars of the golden age. I've been working my way through the Skip Lowe interviews the last couple of years and it's amazing the volume of famous golden age stars he was able to interview.
Yeah, but most find that he was just an old gay troll who interrupted and annoyed his guests. On the contrary, he was everything you referenced and more. These interviews are gold
We're lucky that Skip interviewed such an amazing array of people ... this is a treasure. Yeah, he was odd, but I think the guests knew that going into the interview. His interviews were broadcast over public-access cable television. He did thousands of interviews. Funny guy.
Vincent Sherman's memoir Studio Affairs-My Life as a Film Director, lets him speak without interruption. I knew him towards the end of his life. Always a sexy gentle man.
I disagree with some of these comments criticizing Skip Lowe. I think he was wonderful . He always seemed genuinely interested. Love his facial expressions. Just a really nice guy that brought a special charm to each interview. Thanks for uploading these magnificent priceless interviews.
How honest of you to go against the tide here and defend Skip E. Lowe's cable television show. And let's face it, not every TV interviewer may be a great one, nor even the so-called great ones perhaps as great as legend would have them. They all interrupt at times, and many are in love with the sound of their own voices--certainly Dick Cavett and Charlie Rose are. But a few qualities are important for a successful interview of any kind--that the interviewer ask insightful and interesting, possibly unique questions, as well make a very good attempt to allow the subject to complete her/his thought after a question is asked; also that the interviewer speak clearly and with enunciation, so he/she maybe heard by the listening-viewing audience, if it be a broadcast interview. Also, I think it is a shame that there are few local broadcast TV talk shows left. Of course with the Internet anyone may upload a program to UA-cam, etc. But this is not the same as having a broadcast TV talk show, most of which are distributed by a network or in syndication nationally./internationally. There are very few broadcast TV talk shows of a local nature anymore. Technically, even Skip E. Lowe's show was not a broadcast, but a cable TV access show.
You cut it off right when Mr. Sherman was about to tell a story about Casablanca. What? Why? And I haven't found the 2nd part, if you had one. I wanted to hear MORE from him! He's very cogent and so lovely.
@@aeichler I wonder how Mr. Lowe got this interviewing gig. He's quite inept. Though his smiling Midwestern good ol' boy-ness apparently egged his interviewees on. Smh
@Spiderman7Bob7 Wait! Bette and Joan ONLY starred in ONE film together: Whatever Happened To Baby Jane-which Mr. Sherman DEFINITELY did NOT direct. You are sadly uneducated!!!!
The host let Vincent Sherman talk about everything he asked him' it was the best interview i have seen' pity a lot more hosts didn't watch this as they would have learned how to do it properly :)
"Marion" Hopkins. I couldn't figure out what was getting under my skin until I realized how stupid Skip Lowe was. What a goober! Mr. Sherman even said her name for Pete's sake!!!!!
Absolute nonsense. Interviewers need to keep things moving based on how much time is allotted, questions they want to cover, otherwise, they'll just go and on
Never speak ill of the dead. Only say good things. Skip is dead. GoodThis interview was like speed dating. It was all over the place. Like grabbing a beautiful vase and smashing it to a hundred pieces and staring at the pile and trying to image how it looked like.
Alex LUCAS oh definitely borrowed it from Bette. I heard it way before the series. There’s a book called “ the divine feud “ about their shenanigans. No one can top that clap back lol
that interviewer was crap... he asks a question... he interrupts.... and he cuts off the guest. Sherman didn't get to finish his story about bette davis....
Im guessing they called the old trout Skip because he skips to the next question before he has got a good answer to the question before - very very annoying - such a waste - we were on the verge of hearing a lot of good stuff so many times then Skid ruins it
Very frustrating interview. I could have listened to mr Sherman for hours. Fascinating. I loved the movies of the 30’s and 40’s. Too bad he could not finish a story. Horrible interviewer. Will have to buy his book. To have all those women from that time period. Wow. One more beautiful and talented than the next. Only in my dreams. Lucky man.
If you"ve got a good interview, going places with a lot of information and experiences...do a two parter, stop over talking him and cutting him off. Geez!
Bette invited Sherman to meet her in Mexico. He told her he would, then he stood her up. That was the end of it. Sherman was married, and he didn't want to become involved with her. So no they did not date, it was just one of the many who did not reciprocate Davis' feelings in return
Learnt nothing about Sherman's craft. Interviewer only wanted to hear about Sherman's affairs, and then only with those ladies he, the interviewer, himself fancied. Tries to cover up this shallow, self-delighting interest by plugging Sherman a few times for chronological details, feigning an interest in Sherman's profession itself
I've never seen a more clueless and annoying interviewer. He seemed more interested in proving his own scholarship (half of which is incomplete or flat-out wrong) of his subject then just letting the man speak!
I will give it to him...despite his constant interruptions, he left us a with a treasure trove of fascinating insights.
Skip had his questions in hand and was trying to hurry Sherman along.
Vincent Sherman! What a great part of Hollywood history!

the great late Mr Sherman.thanks so much
This guy's a great interviewer. He's respectful and shows great interest. He asks great questions too.
Wow!!! Young, cute, and terribly naive! Mmmmm

I love these classic interviews. Thank you for sharing.
It's too bad this interview is so short. Maybe if it were three hours long we could get a complete thought out of the great Mr. Sherman.
My thoughts exactly.
Vincent Sherman's memoir Studio Affairs-My Life as a Film Director, lets him speak without interruption. I knew him towards the end of his life. Always a sexy gentle man.
What did he say about crawford?
@@hellomontana2318 Read Sherman's book . he has an entire chapter on her. An excellent book!
Sexy? Perhaps as an old man here but not when he was young. Odd how that happens.
HE ANSWERS THE QUESTIONS FOR HIM AT TIMES...
I love the guests but this Big Queen never shouts the FFF UP !!!
Keep
It respectful
Wow... Maybe you need to watch it again, off of any medication or alcohol
Now i know the model for Jiminy Glick.
Lol! Yes, the Martin Short character of Jiminy Glick is absolutely based on Skip E. Lowe. Totally inept.
It's hard to believe anyone quite that stupid really existed, but he did! If anything, Glick was less of a fool than Skip. SMH.
Also Glick got the big name guests, go figure.
Lolzzzz

Steven, you are so adorable!
I loved the interview. I wished he talked more about the relationship he had with Joan Crawford
great interview, mr. sherman led an amazing life and had great insight to everything he became part of.
*Great Reporting and great stories wish I could had heard more about Bette and him fighting and Dating*
Vincent Sherman even directed some “Waltons” episodes!!🙌🏾
You cut it off right when Mr. Sherman was about to tell a story about Casablanca. What? Why? And I haven't found the 2nd part, if you had one. I wanted to hear MORE from him! He's very cogent and so lovely.
Skip E. always faded his shows out at the end of the half-hour.
@@aeichler I wonder how Mr. Lowe got this interviewing gig. He's quite inept. Though his smiling Midwestern good ol' boy-ness apparently egged his interviewees on. Smh
WOLDERFUL VINCENT 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Vincent Sherman had to have the patience of a Saint to have directed a film with Joan Crawford and Bette Davis .
@Spiderman7Bob7 Wait! Bette and Joan ONLY starred in ONE film together: Whatever Happened To Baby Jane-which Mr. Sherman DEFINITELY did NOT direct.
You are sadly uneducated!!!!

When the cameras on skippy all I see is Marty short . Martin short nailed that impression I never heard of this guy before. He’s hilarious
Vincent Sherman. Quite an impressive man. What a life.
"Marion" Hopkins. I couldn't figure out what was getting under my skin until I realized how stupid Skip Lowe was. What a goober! Mr. Sherman even said her name for Pete's sake!!!!!
Every time I see this guy I can’t help but imagine Marty Short as Jiminy Glick
Sheesh! They rolled the credits on this interview.
That's how all of Skip E's shows ended. They were "live" with no commercials and ran until the half-hour was ending.
Alan Eichler oh okay!
As many others said- fascinating Vincent Sherman with the interviewer from hell.
Your remark is nonsense
This guy is the worst interviewer ever!!!! He talks over his guest before the man can answer the question, he's horrible!!!!
This guy won't left him finish a complete thought!
Absolute nonsense. Interviewers need to keep things moving based on how much time is allotted, questions they want to cover, otherwise, they'll just go and on
Is this who jiminy glick was based on?
The Oglethorpe Players - Vincent Sherman sites this university theatre group as instigating his life in the arts.
This guy must be the inspiration for Martin Short's character called ,Jiminy Glick.
Absolutely agree.
"If you can change one thing about your life Mr Sherman, what would it be" Answer. SITTING DOWN DOING THIS INTERVIEW WITH YOU.
😆
He’s the worst interviewer ever.
Sherman knew what to expect
The interviwer sooooo manly!!! Thiers piitt..cloooney...reynolds...and skip e lowe....give me the manly arms of skip over them any day!!

lol ...ok Bette :---)
You stole that comment from Bette Davis / Sarandon stated it verbatim! I like it in feud, but you wrote it nicely!
Alex LUCAS oh definitely borrowed it from Bette. I heard it way before the series. There’s a book called “ the divine feud “ about their shenanigans. No one can top that clap back lol
I truly think this Queen thinks he's Hedda Hopper !!!
Don’t pick on Bette, cause you won’t get ya din din Blanche !

Omg the interviewer is putting words in his mouth. Let him speak. Ffs
Host Skip is unbearable. But the guest is wonderful. Pity the show is just 30 minutes. It should have been an hour.
Awful interviewer, very frustrating to follow.
If you"ve got a good interview, going places with a lot of information and experiences...do a two parter, stop over talking him and cutting him off. Geez!
WHAT HAPPEND TO HIM AND BETTE..? DID THEY DATE OR WHAT...
Skip kept changing the subject every time Sherman tried to tell the story.
Bette invited Sherman to meet her in Mexico. He told her he would, then he stood her up. That was the end of it. Sherman was married, and he didn't want to become involved with her. So no they did not date, it was just one of the many who did not reciprocate Davis' feelings in return

Bad interviewer! Walks all over the speaker! Just RUDE!
He asked the questions but he didn't want the answers. The interview was for him not the viewing public. Wasted interview.
I hate Skip but he has great guests!
...You LOST me at Skip E. Lowe. 👍💯🤔

Plizzzzzzz 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 listen while they talk u old talkative Grandpa.... What is even that?????
I wonder if it would be possible to edit this to eliminate as much of Mr. Lowe as possible.
Notice: Most if not all producers, writers, movie stars, etc are Jewish! Hmmmmmm
It's like Skippy has ADD, he interrupts himself and can't focus
That interviewer is terrible!!! He interrupts and takes up too much of the time making gratuitous comments. He should have let Sharman talk.....
Z
Bad interviewer.
