I build stuff on my channel and the feeling is great once you see the finished project. My last task was a bumper hitch grill and flatbed with skirts for my Silverado 3500hd.
Serious question here...Why did you choose to cut out so much of the frame to get the angle, as opposed to bending the bars and inserting them inside the same area? Im gonna be building something similar soon and would like to know if there is a difference in strength or ascetics. I will be adding a bit more meat to it to hold a 9K Mile Marker Ive got. Thx, GearHead
I cut as much away as possible for better approach angle - Basically so the tires will hit things sooner than the skid plate. I had to redo this bumper since the V8 swap. If you haven't seen it, you should check it out! ua-cam.com/play/PLU5lR_tbWf0zep_2PlB2nioosQY4ueE7T.html #tacundra
Me: Man I'd like the option to back to stock if I decide to.... This guy: Lets see if the airchisle will take these off!? *Braaaaaaaaaap* Very nice! *Braaaaaaaaaap* Excellent! Hahahaha love it!
Sometimes you just have to dive in head first! You watching my V8 swap now? I'm in deep in this truck now! ua-cam.com/play/PLU5lR_tbWf0zep_2PlB2nioosQY4ueE7T.html
This is pretty much exactly the bumper I wanna build for my 1st gen tundra, do you think what you cut off weakens the frame at all? mines my daily. Thanks!
No. If anything it strengthens it cause its braced to the lower bracket. The one thing I'm going to change btw - I'm going to make a new one with a big rolled radius on the main bumper tube because this one bent in a little from pushing it against trees. I currently have this truck in pieces - installing a 5.7L V8 Tundra engine and bunch of other stuff. Check it out - ua-cam.com/play/PLU5lR_tbWf0zep_2PlB2nioosQY4ueE7T.html
I'm not sure. But honestly, Its hardly worth it unless I make a jig and build a couple of them at a time. But thanks for asking. Oh, I'm going to re-do it soon too btw. I just put a 5.7L Tundra engine in this truck. ua-cam.com/play/PLU5lR_tbWf0zep_2PlB2nioosQY4ueE7T.html
That was made from regular steel. But It was too thin to be honest. I'd probably recommend thicker aluminum. At least 1/8th inch thick. Maybe 1/4" if you're gonna run it hard.
I used Google and found 4 places that have steel close to my home and didnt know about them. I made a flat bed on my channel this year all steel and bedliner. I am looking into front bumper now.
I've never really thought about that. But I'm going to be building a new bumper for this truck that will bolt-on (and off) after I finish the V8 swap. ua-cam.com/play/PLU5lR_tbWf0zep_2PlB2nioosQY4ueE7T.html

Haven't seen that yet I'll have to check it out!!
I've been searching for ages to make a free runner style front end on my rig. I might do this and relocate my radiator to the back
You should watch my #tacundra series on this truck!
Nice work. What tube size is that? I’m gonna do that too

I’ve got the same Tacoma, how much would this cost

18 gauge for skid plate that’s right?? And this is stainless steel or aluminum? Thanks

Almost look like that guy Jaime Lannister
Lately I'm looking more like Wolverine.
Where do you get your piping and metal from

what style of bumper would you call this
Idk... I wanted a desert racer look.
I'd call it... "the Bob Ross technique meets Mad Max styling"... lolz!
Price point?

lol......
What?
Honestly a real stupid job and destroy the frame for no real reason. First hard front drop and there goes your radiator with front end.
You're dumb.
