      @@jacobgriffin2500 My gf has heavy duty gold colored shears that she uses for crafting and what not. One day I decided to use them cutting some chicken wings. We don't use her scissors anymore.

    Nice bumper! Red Green would be proud!
    One tip about cutting steel with an angle grinder: Don't try to cut all the way through in one pass. Lightly score the steel with the first pass, and then make repeated passes cutting a little deeper each time. Your cutoff wheels will last much longer, and that saves money!

    i really like this, because this is how normal people would get it done.. not someone with a $150k dollars worth of tools and plasma tables etc... in a $250k shop....getting it done with cardboard and scrap plate.. love it

    Looks good, once you grind the booger welds off and paint it, it'll look as good as any $1,000+ bumper out there. Love it

    Pretty neat! I used to use similar glasses to use with a cutoff wheel, until I got a metal shard in my eye. I have since switched to a full hood. Much better than the trip to the ER, and I think it actually is more comfortable to work with.

      Do you know where I can get the tiny hole saw that dr. Stranger would use to drill a hole in my eyeball to extract some tiny alien camera .
      Maybe it was wood I'm not sure any one knows .

    hey welder here, love the bumper, you should look into getting a MIG setup for these kind of projects. they go by much faster and you get cleaner welds

      Maybe a wire welder with flux core out in the wind like that... not with gas though! It'd be a booger-weld machine.

    Nice work.. Amazing how much "upcycling" of metal gets used from the local dump..
    What kind of hole you gonna cut in the front plate? Roller fairlead or rub lead?

      Getting synthetic line, so rub lead. Don't have it yet, otherwise I would have cut it in already

    I think i might make something like this for my 97 land cruiser prado. Swap it out for the factory one when i go offroad, and run the factory one the rest of the time

    Bed frame angle iron may not be a bad idea to weld up to the inside of your bumper. It's something that I have planned for my build....

    I’d just cut out those two notched fins in the grill. It’d give it a nice finished look. That said, this is hands down the best, most realistic, and comprehensive bumper build I’ve seen to date. Excellent work.

    Shoulda just scribed the cut off line of corner piece shallow to just fold it and back weld it

    You might want to cut out a hole in the bumper for your fairlead to let the winch line go thru ! Also why didn't you cover the lower part of the factory mount with some more metal pieces ? 🤔 you should also use cutting oil or motor oil instead of WD40 when you drill holes just a few ideas 💡

      As mentioned its not done yet, gonna be lots more bracing added, also don't have the winch / fairlead yet, so I don't know where I want to put the holes for fairlead. WD was jus there and easy.

      It's just the factory bumper brace thing, gonna cut it out, and make a piece to match up to skidplate.

    Good work, but the welding amps should have been higher. I would have stuck with a process you already knew. It's really important to know your welds are good. Of this comes apart while winching, someone could get hurt.
    The bumper looks good. I just question the quality of the welds.
    I will subscribe and keep watching.

      Haha, I'll pass. Definitely needs a little grinding! Maybe when I get more comfortable with the stick, if I chose to use it again. I think I like MIG more..

      @@DirtGarage I just replaced a cheap mig with a cheap mig from harbor fright $215. Light weight 15lbs, good control of watts and wire speed, titanium brand...Lays a nice bead and Im the worlds worst welder....I do find that wire brand is important....harbor frieghts wire is not great, maybe dirty? Lincoln is best get it at home depot. Keep the vids coming, love your enthusiasm.....

      Also I like you hate the wheel of death grinder...When I have to make a long straight cut I prefer a skill saw (circular saw) with a metal blade...much safer and can get a straighter cut....

    looks good. but using wd40 for drilling holes, damages the drill ant takes longer time. get some real cut and cool fluid on the store, its is not expensive and you will notice the difference

    That is gonna block the air flow to the radiator of an infamous overheating engine. Bad idea . Dandahermit

      Nope! Lots of airflow. I've also used much smaller rads with no shroud in 3.4 swaps in other vehicles. 3.4s don't have a overheating issue.
