Your not an idiot. Your just a man, in over his head on his project. Just like the rest of us. Only you are getting it done at an amazing pace, and rolling with the punches better than most of us could!!!
It’s only a matter of time before you start getting requests for help on builds and that turns into side work, and then you’ll have your own 4x4 shop eventually. This is how businesses start. Great work, love the content!
What’s so cool is that out of a simple mistake, is born an amazing custom bumper build! Kudos man for really using your abilities, learning something new and being proud of what you have done. At 48 I’ve always tried to do the same. Some times a failure turns into a amazing success, so keep up the good work and don’t sweat the small stuff. I subbed! Excited to see what your doing with your taco! This coming from a ZR2 owner, yep I still like the Tacoma trucks they are great for sure.. keep up the excellent work,!
@@mikes4x4garage Thanks for all the great content. High quality YouTubing. If you find yourself with a minute, I have a few questions. 1. I was surprised to hear you preferred an automatic transmission when 4-wheeling. In that example, I wondered how you distribute power (as you would with a clutch) especially at high speeds on wet surfaces. 2. One of your arguments for this position was that "...it's better for the rocks." I was curious if that was meant to suggest greater ability to achieve success during climbs or an ecological position that supports responsible off-roading. 3. Do you think you'll eventually do an episode where you fight crimes and reveal government secrets? I'd watch the hell out of that. (Great channel. Thanks again.)
Everybody fucks up but ur actually fixing it back up!! I wished I lived closer to you because I would pay you for a bumper like that for my Tacoma!! Very nice work!!
8:16 hey man great job on the bumper. First time seeing the video. I wanted to ask, if you don’t mind sharing the dimensions and measurements you use to create this bumper. I want to make one myself and I really like yours.
So I binge watched all your videos about this truck last night and I was amazed at your skill, ingenuity, and knowledge plus overall process of the work plus video. So I subscribed and hope to see much more of your content. Great job young man!
Happy I found your channel, this build is what all the bigger channels used to do and don’t seem to do anymore- on a budget, and authentically making due with what you got. Good shit man!
Great way to fix her up after the accident. Must admit the bumper looks really nice. Way better than I thought it would. You got skills! Now to take her on a wheeling trip!
started watching this channel yesterday really really enjoy the whole build getting my own cat eye this weekend so this is what im about to be doing to!
To be honest, even if it did look funky it's functional and you made it with your bare hands! That's incredibly rewarding and 90%of people watching this including myself couldn't make a bumper so there's that. Looks awesome and I'm still really enjoying the progress videos!
We need more content! Watching your videos are so relaxing and very informative. It honestly makes me want to work on my 16’ Tacoma with my own hands instead of paying a shop. 🙌🏾
Bumper looks awesome! Truck looks completely different. Just binged your build from start to now. Awesome work! Got me to subscribe! Looking forward to future content.
Love you’re videos man don’t worry we all make mistakes but hey I like how the bumper looks now much better plus the paint was already killed so what ever I would recommend getting a paint pen then wet sanding it down then doing a layer of clear coat then sanding then polishing it out for the hood ripple you shouldn’t be able to see the issue from 4 feet out just did it on my 2017 mustang gt
Man, I need to run my 4Runner into a water heater! That bumper looks awesome- well done! This is great inspiration for those of us planning on building our own bumpers.
Dude I binge watched the whole Tacoma experience. Insane what you did with this truck. Would love to see a breakdown of the hours of work and amount of beer you drank! Cheers!
Awesome stuff here, man. You are doing some pretty unique repairs that I don't really see with other third gens and it's proving to be a wealth of second hand experience for me.
Completely unrelated but I love your taste of music. This is like the third taco video of yours that I’ve seen with solid music. Keep up the awesome work bro. Love the vids.
Having been watching since the beginning of this truck that was painful to see knowing how much you've done, but the new bumper setup is pretty sweet nice job. Now nothing happened and we will never speak of this again 😂
Those bumper caps are just bolted on by that one bolt on the bottom, no need to cut them lol. This project is awesome though, much love. The first car I ever drove jumped into the garage door in the exact same way, big bro was pisssseeddd
Commented earlier on how your Tacoma sounded like it was a Honda Civic from my neighborhood.... Now with that custom work in the front it looks like most of them too LOLOLOLOL
Dont be too hard on yourself about forgetting that the rig was in gear, it happens to the best of us, its a honest mistake. Bumper looks phenomenal by the way. 😎
Your not an idiot. Your just a man, in over his head on his project. Just like the rest of us. Only you are getting it done at an amazing pace, and rolling with the punches better than most of us could!!!
Foreal
Amazing pace especially. Dude doesn’t put anything off.
thanks for the kind words!
“Project” of starting a truck in gear? lol
@@Wanderlust073 I'm talking about this truck as a whole from the time he got it. Not about one mistake.
It’s only a matter of time before you start getting requests for help on builds and that turns into side work, and then you’ll have your own 4x4 shop eventually. This is how businesses start. Great work, love the content!
The bumper looks incredible!! You did such a great job and it’s so awesome that you made it completely from scratch. One of a kind

Thank you!!
Give this dude three years and if he keeps it up his time will be very valuable doing whatever he pleases and posting it on YT. Keep it up my man!
I give him a year, his stuff is too awesome.
Mike that bumper looks amazing, I hope that I learn how to weld as good as you one day. You really are a super gremlin.
I’m genuinely addicted to this series… just caught myself thinking about it out of the blue
Another great example of what the intersection of skill and humility looks like.
thank you Gus!

The bumper adds so much character I genuinely think it looks so much cooler than before
Thank you!

I was about to comment the same thing... I will pay for the blueprints 😎😎
Me too !! 🤘🏼
Incredibly impressed and envious of your skills and talent!
F’n cool!
Your design is tight too!
Best diy bumper build I've seen in UA-cam, I've built 2 bumpers similar but used tube turns instead of a bender for sch 40 pipe
"My time is worthless" LMAO! I'm sure glad you make these videos so not TOTALLY worthless!
Lol "my time is worth nothing" part is gold. This series is awesome
Good car people like yourself are California’s only hope. Great video
Damn i wasn't expecting the start of that! Water heater really did a number on the front end lol. Bumper came out great!
So I binge watched all your videos about this truck last night and I was amazed at your skill, ingenuity, and knowledge plus overall process of the work plus video. So I subscribed and hope to see much more of your content. Great job young man!

Love your stuff. It’s so real and funny as hell. Bumper came out awesome!

Your time was meaningful to me bro. Thanks for your wealth of knowledge and experience.
Haha damn one too many garage beers! Don’t beat yourself up too much about it.. stuff happens
Looks sick! Wasn’t sure at first but it came out great
Best series on UA-cam.
Happy I found your channel, this build is what all the bigger channels used to do and don’t seem to do anymore- on a budget, and authentically making due with what you got. Good shit man!
I hate that this happened to you, but I’m glade to see another video on the taco
that thing loooks unreal! not what I was expecting at all. Great job mike. I see your channel growing in the near future
Thank you!
"You also have to factor in beer." 😂😂 good stuff my guy!! Love seeing the taco rebuild, definitely makes me want to make some improvements of my own
That’s where it gets pricey 😂
I have a feeling that beer might have been a factor with the original bumper kissing the water heater 🤔😆. Regardless the new bumper looks good 👍
Looks like it turned into a happy accident. It looks great! Live and learn - you can’t learn unless you mess up. You’re not an idiot.
Thank you!
Just “finished” my 1st gen ls Tacoma!!! This build has been sick to follow
Great recovery on the accident and very awesome fabrication on the bumper! Nothing like doing it yourself!!!
Thanks!
Love it! Enjoy the moments while you can! Thanks for sharing it with us!
It happens. I like the dedication and showing it can be done by us normal people and not dudes with 100K+ shops
Great series bro. Congrats on the build, this is a real life garage build and we all love it brotha. Cheers 🍻🍻
“My time is pretty much worthless” I felt that, keep up the great work!
That bumper looks good Mike. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to more of your content.
Just can't catch a break. Bumper turned out awsome! Glad I subscribed! Keep up the good work!
Everyone who has had a manual has done this at some point lmao. Seriously impressed with that metal work. The bumper turned out awesome man!
I watched this build from the beginning. Tbh I didn't have to much faith in this build . But damn.. you prove me wrong. Great job !!
My heart shank when you panned the camera over to the damage. Such a bummer. On the bright side...you have more content...
You've done so much to this truck brotha don't beat yourself up!
Ouch my dude! Would make me sadder than my first break up, good on you for rollin with it man!
Man, you can do it all. That bumper looks great. Good job bro!
I like how you continue to make all the obstacles 10x better than before and remain positive lol.
Gotta keep on keepin on!
You did a great job on the repair work, and the bumper looks amazing. Really enjoy your videos.
Glad you like them!
Great way to fix her up after the accident. Must admit the bumper looks really nice. Way better than I thought it would. You got skills!

I just watched this one again. It ALMOST makes me inspired to try to pull something like that off.
started watching this channel yesterday really really enjoy the whole build getting my own cat eye this weekend so this is what im about to be doing to!
Bumper looks damn professional, great job! Rock sliders next!
Absolutely!
As usual you know what you're doing -- great creativity and work.
Thank you!
Just binged this series on my birthday. Mike you’re an awesome mechanic/fabricator and commentator. You’re kinda like a mechanic Thomas Middleditch 😂
Thank you!

love the tacoma series so far, I just binge watched them all while at work 😂
u are insane. i could never have the patience for this. let alone the skills

Great fab work. Would have loved to have video of you driving into the water heater, and your immediate reaction. LOL
Looks even better than before man. Amazing
bumpers looks amazing for using lower budget tools. I wanna make tree kickers for my X3 soon, cheap bender looks like it does the trick.
Bumper looks awesome! Truck looks completely different. Just binged your build from start to now. Awesome work! Got me to subscribe! Looking forward to future content.
“My time is pretty much worthless” That had me cracking up. Nice bumper bro it looks awesome!
Appreciate it!

I’m watching this after backing up in my 3rd gen and hitting a pole in the same spot. Time to rebuild.
Man, I need to run my 4Runner into a water heater! That bumper looks awesome- well done! This is great inspiration for those of us planning on building our own bumpers.
Hey thanks!
Quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. Some funny ass shit that you say and do. Enjoy the work you do on the truck. Keep it up man!
Wow you got so much skill and it just gets better and better the truck is looking pristine
Both the xj and the Tacoma are my dream off-road rigs! Exactly like those
Thank you Julio! They’re my pride and joy, haha

I was skeptical at first, but that bumper came out clean! Awesome job man! Hello from Guam 🇬🇺

A lot more work! But very rewarding.
That's an amazing piece of work. Well done
That’s life man, it’s always something when you least expect it.
Like to honor the strength of Mike’s water heater.
Umm sir, that bumper is freaking fantastic! Dare I say I’m happy you launched the truck so that we could see the bumper build sooner 🙃
Thank you!
Dude you're a bad man that came out perfect!
Having been watching since the beginning of this truck that was painful to see knowing how much you've done, but the new bumper setup is pretty sweet nice job. Now nothing happened and we will never speak of this again 😂

Love the look of the bumper Mike. Hey if you keep wrecking the truck you get to keep making vidoes!!!!
thanks, but i would like to drive it and stop fixing it at this point! lol
great to see you turning an unfortunate situation into such a great result
Bumper looks freaking amazing! Nice work.
Was beer involved when you hit the water heater😂 and bumper turned out great man can’t believe how great it turned out for only using cardboard lol
I’ve watched the whole series so far, the truck has come a long way, keep up the great content!
You should wrap the whole truck. We would all love to see that!
"You gotta factor in beer" hahaha I love it Mike. Great videos and love following the gram too! Can't wait to see more!!
mistakes happen man, the fact that you made something awesome from it says a lot. loving the way it looks keep it up.
Dont be too hard on yourself about forgetting that the rig was in gear, it happens to the best of us, its a honest mistake.
Bumper looks phenomenal by the way. 😎
Thank you!
