Woman of Substance, An Affair To Remember. Also, From Here to Eternity.
My favorite actress and actor--in my favorite movie--"AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER." Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant are unforgettable, especially in the final blockbuster scene.
Deborah Kerr is a fine woman; the title is CLICKBAIT. She is a wonderful example to those that follow, as a woman, as a wife, as an actress and as a mother. R.I.P Dear Deborah, you have my admiration and respect!
thank you. i guessed as much and am happy to find your comment. xxx
Pronounced “Carr,” I believe.
Correct 😊
Yes
Kerr is a Scottish name pronounced as is stated it was changed by Hollywood to sound it Carr as it sounded like star but in all her films her name on the screen Kerr
yes
You are quite right.😊😊
Beautiful woman. Fantastic Actress.
A very elegant actresses. I like to see her on screen She is ane ove my favorite actresses.
Heaven knows Mr Allison in which she played opposite Robert Mitchum was outstanding

So timely to see these fabulous movies again. Quality entertainment.
Too many great roles to choose a favorite one!! Don't forget she won a Lifetime Achievement award or Cecil B Demille award, forget which one! By that time she was quite old and frail but showed up elegant and full of class at the Academy Awards! Thanks for this short bio and hope she never ends up forgotten! May she rest in peace on the Other Side~
An Affair to Remember was my favourite.
I loved her in “Tea and Sympathy.”
So what Rumors did her daughter confirm None ! D. Kerr was a beautiful Lady and a great Film Actress i viewed many films with her playing a great role .
Marlin Brando was NOT in “Tea and Sympathy.”
She was born in Glasgow. Her birth name was Trimmer. Had 'KERR' been her birth name it would be pronounced as written. However, it was her screen name so then it was pronounced 'CARR'.
An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant is my most favorite movie of Deborah Kerr and the most favorite movie from the three they did together........😊💖👍🏻
one of my favorite actresses. loved her in everything she did.
You didn't mention my favorite movie with Deborah Kerr and Bob Taylor... Quo Vadis.
Unmentioned here is the film she considered one of the best, or the best, she ever made. It was a ghost story called The Innocents (1961), an adaptation of the Henry James novella, The Turn Of The Screw. It remains one of the spookiest films I've ever seen, and the subdued fear and tension in the character of the children's Governess, with her subtle changes of expression, maintains it as one of the eeriest tales of the uncanny I've ever seen to this day.
I was stationed at Marine Barracks Pearl Harbor. We provided security for the base. I was assigned to guard a building that had been a mortuary for returning sailors and Marines in WWII. It was called the ‘Ghost Post’ due to supposedly many sightings of a sailor ghost. I had the graveyard shift. Unfortunately, I had just watched The Innocents just before going on duty. It was a long scary shift.
my favorite movie is all of them,,talented beautiful great mother,,ok thats enough if i think of any more i will let you know,,thank u for the post and clips,,,:)
Deborah Carr role as Miss Anna in the King and I was a delight, The wonderful melodies from the Musical hsve lived on, The Reporatry Theatre 🎉where I live in Harare have done the production a couple of times with great success, I always enjoy the old Musicals,
I enjoyed most of her films. She has that face and personna that attracts you. To top it off " An affair to remember" i
S most memorable !!!
I grew up watching her character of Lygia in Quo Vadis. An amazing lady.
I’ve been a long-time fan of Deborah Kerr and have seen almost every movie in which she stars (BTW, her last name is pronounced like “car”…if you had bothered to research her just a little bit, you could have correctly pronounced her name throughout your vignette on her life). At any rate, you cited her work in “Separate Tables” as the portrayal of a shy middle-aged woman who was secretly involved in a torrid affair??? You and I must have been watching two completely different movies. Ever think about considering a career change?? This little bio on Miss Kerr was an epic fail, in my humble opinion!!
An affair to remember so beautiful and restores faith in romance and love even if it is a film and not a true story thank you for this wonderful tribute to her
a woman of substance with liam neeson
She and Robert Mitchum had a very strong chemistry as well. Moor so than her and Cary Grant
The King and I , wasn’t she also in Anastasia?, wonderful woman actress and mother, very moral as well
Anastasia: Ingrid Bergman, Yul Brynner, beautiful film with a hauntimg soundtrack
Fabulous actress and beautiful lady
When I worked for an airline years ago, her people called and said they wanted the departure lounge cleared for her alone. Not sure if that came from her, or if they were just being asses, but they were told that wasn't going to happen. Bl00dy nerve of them!
Bullcrap.
@@melodramaboy Given that I took the damn call, I'm telling you it happened.
@@steveblog1 : well I knew her and she wasn’t like that at all. And furthermore, unless you’re talking about her MGM years, ‘her people’ sounds suspect. She was very low maintenance and after 1993, travel arrangements were made privately.
Deborah was a truly great actress, my all time favourite, so elegant, so beautiful, the King and I , my favourite, that fabulous gown, ❤
She’s great as three different characters in The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
Really low innuendo bordering on slander here I’m sorry to say because I generally like this channel. Any dalliance she may have had with Brando and Grant (not that it’s anyone’s business) would have happened in the 50s. She married Peter Viertel in 1960 so to suggest she was unfaithful to him with either of the aforementioned is baseless. Deborah Kerr was rightly adored by her family her friends and her colleagues, her warmth and humour, her hospitality and sense of fun was legendary (and her marriage to Peter Viertel lasted until they both died within weeks of each other in 2007 after nearly 50 years together).
Her name is pronounced Carr and not Kerr. It's pronounced like car. Please correct
I loved the movie 'The Journey' with Yel Brynner, because they were such a nice couple in that movie, even it ended sad.....
Being Scottish it’s Kerr as it looks only the English that says carr
She was a lovely lady❤
In The Life & Death Of Colonel Blimp, she played four different women from four different eras.
An Affair to Remember obviously The King and I black Narcissus after some reason the last one always seems to be underrated by the critics separate tables with Burt Lancaster David Niven I think and obviously Rita Hayworth Britain film brilliant play totally missed❤❤❤ as a side point I could never understand why she was never offered an Oscar and I don't understand it
Tho she was a British born subject I don't think she ever received the title "Dame." I never could understand why. Liz Taylor became a "Dame"
Thumb down due to continuous mispronunciation of the lady's last name. Kerr rhymes with star.
Beautiful actress ,Woman
Una gran actuación en un maravillosa película: An affair to remember.
My favourite role: "The Night of the Iguana".
One of our favorites too, you've got fine taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
@@FactsVerseUK The videos I like is about films and characters, not the actors.
Except, of course, when the actors were really interesting, just like Deborah Kerr.
She wasn't 'the love struck nun' in Heaven Knows Mr Allison'. Gt film with Robert Mitcham. The Sundowners, the best together.
Good on you Ide ! The Sundowners.
Thanks for watching! We're glad to know that you love our video. If we may ask, what other types of video would you like to see on Facts Verse UK?
Stop using a clickbait title.
Deborah Kerr is a fine woman; the title is CLICKBAIT. She is a wonderful example to those that follow
Emma Heart in a Woman of Substance and Hold the Dream
1. I'm fed up with so much AI errors in mispronunciations & facts. 2. However, I am interested in how many pronunciarions developed, like Ms. Kerr & clerk, meaning an assistant.. which rhymes w Clark. The new Republic of USA deliberately changed spellings & pronunciations after we broke away from UK to further us from Britain.
Deborah and I had a correspondence friendship that lasted approximately ten years. She was always very interested and supportive of my work as a musician and composer. I hope Francesca and Melanie see this and I cherish my interaction with their Mum as blessed.
Can’t watch this since AI keeps pronouncing her name wrong🙄‼️
An Affair to remember
An Affair to remember and The King and I
A century Rose.
This programme confuses the role played by Wendy Hiller wth that by Deborah Kerr, in 'Separate Tables'.
A terrible 'howler' for what purports to be a well researched history.
And, yes, mispronunciations of proper nouns abounded, not least of Ms Kerr's surname.
Sloppy!
Sadly this item is full of innacuracies and fasctual mistakes
Know as ",the English Rose,"
well apprently youre all wrong..In Scotland, it's pronounced “care.”
Affair To Remember
It’s pronounced CAR
An Affair to Remember
One of our favorites too, you've got fine taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
Kerr is pronounced CAR like that thing you drive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All.
You got it wrong. It was Marlon Brando and Cary Grant who had the affair. Duh.
It’s pronounced “car.”
Loved her in Beloved Infidel .
Yes, Deborah was fine in that film but Gregory Peck was totally miscast.
An affair to Remember and the King and I.
Our favorites too, you've got fine taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
It's "Kerr" like "car". If you don't know her, don't make a video
See
王様と私😮
Full of inaccuracies!!!
Kerr rhymes with STAR, pronounced like CAR
The name is Scottish, as she was, and is pronounced Kerr
Debrah Kerr name wasn’t pronounced as Carr
Oh YES it WAS!
That was the way SHE pronounced it.
And I think a person's own presentation of their names subordinates someone else's opinion!
@@user-jx3yu9gy2v It was MGM's idea to introduce her to America as Deborah CAR. In their ads they announced" Deborah Kerr, rhymes with star."
How could a tribute be prepared, narrated by someone who could not pronounce her name? Kerr, rhymes with star, said MGM's Louis B. Mayer. Who on earth is this guy and why wasn't it redone?
