- Good Day to You All!!! My Sincere Apologies for the Delay of this One - this is in honor of Women's Appreciation Month, and one of my dear favorites I chose to do for it is, the Underrated Master Class of an Actor: Deborah Kerr.

She was fantastic in "The Night of the Iguana"!! She played a nun like spinster who befriends and charms a raging drunk (Richard Burton), calming him down in a memorable scene when he's tied down in a hammock to prevent him commiting suicide.
One of my favorite films.
Deborah and Robert Mitchum were electric on film together. Heaven Knows Mr Allison is one of the greatest movies of all time. Total class. Absolute Legend!
Deborah's a treasure and it's kind of great that she is underrated. Some of the most profound and beautiful things in life exist before us and go unrecognized. We see them when we have the capacity to "see" them. Her husband Peter Viertel said her self-effacement and her kindness was very rare in their line of work- especially in someone so gifted and beautiful.
When i left school at 15 years old the first things i bought with my allowance from my first weeks wages was 2 ties and a photo of deborah kerr. I still have one of the ties and the photo. I always wanted to act with her and was very upset when michael anderson jr won the part of her son in the sundowners in which also starred my other favorite actress glynis johns. Im now 76 years old and still have deep regret that i never met deborah or glynis. Thats life i guess.❤😢
Joan Crawford was offered the part and signed but her demands were to extravagent and that's how Kerr got part. Would have liked to see Joan
Maybe somewhere in heaven you will get your chance. I hope you do.
I love the most the movie An Affair to Remember... with Cary Grant together...
Beautiful en great movie, actors, It's such a emotional movie. It's my most favorite from the three they make together...!!!
It's in my top 5 of Cary Grant movies...😊💖👍🏻
Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison. Fabulous movie. Love them both.
A really great movie what chemistry between this two stars
How 'Heaven Knows..." only made honorable mention is a travesty.
I agree! From Here To Eternity was so great, I saw it 4 times. Her performance in that film was unforgettable to say the least!
I always loved The Night of the Iguana. She was my crush in that one
Yes I too remember Deborah's romantic moves i have seen the movies and do remember, thanks for keeping the classics alive very well told
Thanks again ,
Always a romantic at ♡
I usually 'rate' a film by how likely I am to watch it again (and again). With that in mind, my favorite Deborah Kerr movie is "Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison". My sister and I got to watch this in theatres when it first came out, and loved it. Anytime we have the opportunity, we enjoy watching it again.
Thank you for your insightful comments, keep up the great work!
A wonderful actress , my all time favourite, all my love ❤❤❤🎉
I'm glad you mentioned Vacation From Marriage; most people wouldn't have known that one. I think she is underrated because in most of her films she worked in an ensemble and was not given vehicles of her own as was often done for other actresses.
What a lady she was! An Affair to Remember, is my all time favorite! ❤❤❤
私もベスト、トップ1がAnAffair to Rememberです。
Just 10 best? I couldn’t have done it. This is my favourite actress of all time… when I went to Hawaii and I got to the beach where the kissing scene was filmed, I went down there and sat on the beach and recreate it in my mind… keep up the great work, I agree with you on almost all your choices!
Well done❤😂have always had her as one of my favorites. Grew up in the 60's
Night of the Iguana is a heartbreaking role for her. It's a secondary part in a movie full of showy parts but she quietly walks away with the film in my book
Yes. She was amazing
I think the greatest film in England is not Colonel Blimp (which I appreciate very much), but another Powell and Pressburger’s production : A Matter of Life and Death.
Thank you for the tribute you give to one of my best beloved actress !
She played a nun twice. Loved all her films. GRASS IS GREENER is a third Mitchum/Kerr film. A bit of fluff of a film I've seen MANY times. She is so elegant in any role. Irene Dun & Charles Boay spelled so you can see correct pronunciation!
Excelente👏👏👏mi actriz preferida, me gustó lo que dijo William Wyler.. Si Audrey Hepburn es la princesa, entonces Deborah Kerr es la reina 👑
I would have included "Night of the Iguana" in the Honorable Mentions. The scene where Deborah calms down an agitated Richard Burton is mesmerizing. I even have some the dialogue in my computer documents. On the other hand, you introduced me to two of her British films that I haven't seen, "Perfect Strangers" (U.S. title: "Vacation from Marriage") and "I See a Dark Stranger."
Top 5 of all time !
That's great that you've uploaded a new video 👍🏻
She is like no other.
Another one of my favorites! Thanks for posting this ❤
Underrated is right ! Deborah was and still is the greatest movie stars of them all .
I love the connection between The Innocents and The Others - the latter is my favourite work of Nicole Kidman and I just love the gothic horror setting.
I love her soooo much !!!!!
Deborah Kerr was great in Quo Vadis too.
Quo Vadis is one of my absolute favourite movies. And the talented and lovely Deborah Kerr looked absolutely gorgeous in this. A classic beauty, with long red cascading hair. I personally had never seen her look lovelier.
Merkwürdige Auswahl! Der beste Film ist "The Night of the Iguana". Auch sehenswert "The Hucksters", "Quo Vadis", "Blimp". Dabei gehe ich allerdings mehr vom Film selbst aus, somit einschließlich der Leistungen der anderen Künstler.
I would rate An affair to remember as #1
Excellent work!!!!
Night of the Iguana should have been on the list. I have seen all of her work and it is in the eye of the beholder.
Black Narcissus is my favourite film of all time so am pushed in that direction but she was really excellent in everything.
Pronounced Nar-SIS- us
Pronounced Nar-SIS- us
The image of Deborah Kerr fishing against the shimmering water in Black Narcissus is my favourite image in film ❤️
デボラ·カー、ロン·パリだけど美人で素敵。映画は4本くらいしか持ってないけど、ユーチューブで観られるWhat's my lineは気さくな感じてわ可愛いよ。
I loved Deborah Kerr in "Beloved Infidel", with the very handsome Gregory Peck. True story of the writer, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Sheila Graham, an English columnist who fell in love, but there were issues.
Love This!!!
Loved her in The King and I.
I liked her in The Chalk Garden, which is not so well known.
Would love you to do one on Jean Simmons
Ohhhh I would love to, stay tuned...!!
Looking forward 👌
watch her on what's my line on UA-cam - she does a great American accent
Liz Taylor likely would be first to agree: hated Butterfield 8 and thought it *not!!* Oscar-worthy. "I won because of a tracheotomy," she complained, referring to drastic treatment during her near-death health collapse.
[So you know: "Irene Dunn" and "Sharl Boyay" are close-to-accurate pronouncings.] Your respectful writing and clear, measured speech are ideal for this thought-provoking topic.
Yes indeed! I always knew those were accurate pronunciations, but I have heard those other pronunciations as well, which is always confusing, haha. Potato, Po-tauto.
husksers and profane, and the grass is greener on the other side
On the set of 'Heaven Knows Mr. Allison', Mitchum was nervous about this seemingly prim and proper English co star. She soon set him right. She could swear like a sailor with not so much as a blush
Very interesting
Where can we see her films?
So difficult to find!
See if your local public library has any of the Criterion Collection DVDs. Her movies comprise several of those.
YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN THE FILM KING SALOMON S MINES WITH STEWART GRANGER AND IT S A BIG MISTAKE YOU MUST ADD THIS WONDERFULL FILM WHO PUSHED ME TO GO TO AFRICA
She was in Ben Hur... and I think Ivanhoe..?.
still do not understand: is it karr or kerr. is it karr like car that you drive or kerr like care (about something) please do tell
Oh yes, its pronounced: Car :)
Quo vadis
What! Why isn't The Night of the Iguana on this list?
Happy to hear yr opinions but PLEASE learn how to pronounce names…I.e. Irene Dunne sounds …Done not dune.
Quo Vadis
If you would stop using the name of God so carelessly these would be excellent Honor His name
