  • Today we’re taking a look at San Martins new copy-cat of the Tudor Black Bay Pro!
How’s the quality and feel of the watch compared to the original? And how does it make you feel having spent over x20 the amount of cash for the Tudor, when you can get the same looks for far less?
I had some fun with this one… 😂

Just received mine. Absolutely love it. The rivet bracelet and thickness stopped me from getting the Tudor . Can’t believe how good the bracelet and the case finishing is for price. Only gripe is lume is slightly weaker on the hands compared to dial. But certainly not a deal breaker. Really comfortable on wrist as well.

Many watch reviews are spec focused, and those videos are great. I love you watch reviews because they are very human and honest. You seem like a good dude. Looking forward to watching more of your videos! Also, i'm a musician from the states and I'm playing in Stockholm in September, if you're anywhere near there I'll put you on the guestlist.

There are more things I like about the San Martin than the Tudor: price, lume, thickness. Not enough better on the Tudor to make up for the price difference.

This San Martin GMT is a very good looking watch. I've been looking at them for about 2 months now. Since I own the new Tudor Ranger I really can't afford to have the new Tudor Black Bay Pro as well as my Ranger. This San Martin looks like it's quality made and at a great price. Of course if you can't handle the homage aspects of this watch no one will be able to convince you but this is a great alternative!

Like you, I really like San Martin’s quality … This one is not my cup of tea although it’s an amazing watch with the NH34.
San Martin are coming up with a Milsub titanium homage .. I’m waiting for that one.
Great review and first impressions as usual 👌🏽

Looking forward to the full comparison. I really like the look of the Tudor and would love a cheap gmt. Can’t spend that much on a Tudor watch yet.
San Martin homage has an empty feeling behind them at times. But the great part is thinking about how much money you saved buying San Martin, then you become at least half full rather than half empty 😁

    Nice video.
And I tend to prefer this SanMartin vs the original, thinner, very well executed, and let's be honest, you get great specs and great lume, what's not to like about their models.
Really nice gloves by the way. Have been looking for something like this for years, thanks for the hint.

Of course it does, not denying it at all.
Let's not forget most watches and brands have been homages of others and that's what allow these brands to thrive nowadays.

Disappointingly, I did not like the Tudor BB Pro. It looked like a puck on my flat, 7.5” inch wrist… I think it is too tall for its size. Therefore, I kept my Steinhart Ocean 39 vintage GMT special OLKO edition which I have been wearing for two years now. It fits my wrist so much better and, in my opinion, is better looking. Thanks for the video.

My biggest gripe with SM is the hexagon logo they use on the dial. I hate it :( Otherwise i would have a bunch of SM in my collection.
(I know they offer sterile dials too but i dont like that either. I like clean simple text logos. SM logo looks like a Toy logo...)

It is difficult for us to satisfy everyone's preferences. We support dial customization services. You only need to pay some extra fees, about 25-30 US dollars, and you can customize some simple non-commercial logos, or your name/anniversary and other meaningful texts are printed on the dial

Every watch brand stated by copying somebody else’s design or concept including Tudor and Rolex. The guy at Rolex or Tudor that had the dream is like the guy at San Martin that also has a dream. The people at San Martin also earn a living and have families to feed and care for. Thanks to Chinese manufacturing everybody can afford these excellent watches and unless you belong to the club of pretentious people that think watches are status symbol rather than beautiful timekeeping devices than you should be happy that they exist and also support them so they can continue to do what they do.

    • @backintimewatches
      @backintimewatches  9 місяців тому

Dude, it’s my video… I’ve probably supported San Martin and these kinds of Chinese brands more than most people 😂 First by buying the watches, and then by making videos about them that are seen by thousands of people 👍 So I don’t really understand why you’re talking to me like I don’t like homage watches…
With that said, brands like Pagani Design and San Martin are NOTHING like Rolex, Tudor and other brands. Hans Wilsdorf had a dream of making his own type of watches. He didn’t just copy paste other people’s designs and printed his look-a-like watches in cheap factory’s, made by the cheapest labor he could find, for the cheapest materials he could find.
You’re saying that thanks to Chinese manufacturing everybody can afford these excellent watches but you’re missing one crucial point. It’s thank to the original design that San Martin, Pagani and others like them can make these watches in the first place. Without Rolex, Omega, Tudor, Seiko and other brands that produce original designs and spend millions of dollars on research and development on new movements, without them San Martin and Pagani wouldn’t even exist 🤷‍♂️
I like homage watches. But let’s not pretend that they are more than they actually are. And let’s give credit where credit is owned - to the original designers of the timeless classics that San Martin and Pagani “borrow” their designs from 👍

I own 12 watches, all at the low price end. Most of them are Seiko and Orient. One watch was a gift, its an old Omega seamaster. This watch was worn over 40 years and runs very accurate. But now i bought a Invicta Submariner hommage, because i like the style. I couldnt beliefe that the Seiko movement in it goes fast only 5 seconds in 2 weeks! Awesome - it is also water resistant to 200 m, an all of that for the price of 90 Euros. What to hell does a Rolex better? Onother experience: i bought a Seiko snk 809 2 years ago. Payed 60 Euros, but now the price goes up, because the dont produce them anymore. I polished the watch, changed to saphire chrystal and put another strap on it. It looks like a watch about 300 Euros and the movement is like a workhorse. I find those things more interesting than to buy expensive watches. Its fun and you dont loose money. I never bought a skx007 and im sorry. Since they dont produce the watch anymore, the price goes up from 180 euros to 560 euros! I like to say, the market not always represents the real value of a watch.

@@jb-hw9if Its only a fake when its stealing the brand name / logo and trying to pretend its the genuine thing. Otherwise its called homage. No matter how close the design / looks are.
Huge difference because you wont be able to sell the SM and say its a Tudor because one look at the dial says its not. So there is no chance of fraud / stealing peoples money by selling them a fake, which is one of the biggest tabus of a fake.
People really need to stop calling homages "OmG iTs EsSENtIALLy JuSt A fAkE" because you are actively encouraging people to buy fakes instead of homages, hence leading to more fraud, hustles and misery. Someone with a fake Rolex/Tudor/Omega ect. could always be tempted to sell it and say its real to some poor unsuspecting naive customer for a huge amount of money.. That would never happen with a homage that has a different brand name of the dial.
If you dont like it thats fine. Nobody cares :) But dont encourage people to by fakes pls.
