The origins of Jester! I'm so happy she's playing her in the new campaign, she was really fun here.
The true origins of Jester were on the GameSpot Livestream
@@JasperForge Judging by the fact that the Critical Role crew are all wearing the exact same thing in both videos, I'm guessing that this was filmed the same day they did the livestream, and this was just put up on youtube a couple weeks after the fact. Also, Laura herself has said multiple times that this was where she played as Jester first, so it's likely that they did this earlier in the day than the livestream.
I'm here to get a sneak peek at Jester.
Nobody made the obvious "Nicholas Mage" connection
Little known fact (not actually true): while jester entirely came from this game, Nott's voice came from the first accent out of gregs mouth (around 9:15 )
the person laughing off camera makes this 10x better
That's Kevin from kinda funny.
Tim is so nervous and so excited to be a DM. Constantly looking up his notes. “I had no idea what I was doing but I liked making noises” aren’t we all?
Everyone’s talking about the origins of Jester, but **spoilers for Campaign 3** Travis is playing a Blood Hunter Order of the Lycan! 👀
OMG SEEING EARLY JESTER BLEW MY MIND! Laura had this character in her head since 2016?!
Yep. She was originally going to be the replacement for Vex if she had died permanently.
@@ScorchHellfire I can't imagine Jester in Campaign 1, that would have been crazy
Greg's speech to the giants was the funniest fucking thing ever!
43:06 Matt mouthing 'sorry' to greg when Laura refused to heal him lol
Pia Bernardino she's always been a very selfish player and it makes for some great moments but I feel like it would get aggravating
She wasn't being selfish. She used her action to stabilize him, a selfish player wouldn't have wasted an action on a partymember. She was just roleplaying her character, she wanted to get paid to heal him.
Given the animosity the two groups had for each other initially and their unwillingness to work with each other, it makes perfect sense.
love the:
Laura: There isnt normaly this many but me and marisha have a very large..
Travis: problem
6:34
Campaign 1&2 spoilers -----
1:16:20 Laura mentions the traveler being her deity as Jester but comparing this to upload dates of campaign 1 Artigan hadn't been introduced yet or released into the material plane. I believe in one of talks Machina episodes Laura said she and Matt Retconned that into her backstory for Jester in Campaign 2 as she mentioned she originally wanted to play a warlock. It's just funny how well "The traveler" title fits with Artigans character and story by the end of campaign one and they ended up just keeping the title.
I think laura spoke about that in talks machina....she asked matt, are they the same person.... and he was just matt pokerface
I love the gradient on the left of
Glasses with no beard > Glasses with beard > No glasses with beard
Mike Drucker is the real unsung hero of Kinda Funny.
+Noah Friscopp Honestly though, Drucker substantially supports his friends every month and literally every topic he submits is phenomenal! The man is a creative genius and a god amongst men.
***** Exactly!
Ok, so I’m only catching up on the first campaign and came here after the intro in ep. 49. I’ve heard that Laura will play a tiefling named Jester in the second campaign but that’s my first introduction to that character. And omg that voice!
Same here! I thought I was the only one lol
I came here after watching the intro to C1E49 as well! I already watched all of Campaign 2 so this origin for Jester is awesome. Laura Bailey's best character so far IMO.
WAIT WAIT WAIT... Jester Spared someone within 40 min of existing?? Laura was really feeling generous that day.
There needs to be a "Jesus, I thought we weren´t going to talk about that" shirt.
i guess jester was her back up character for awhile
Came for the critical role, stayed for the sexy Laura Bailey voice.
If you combine their team name abbreviations they are the AH SHITS
First Kinda Funny video I've seen. Came here after seeing Greg on the Know. Bloody good stuff
+Thomas Christopher welcome Thomas!!! - Tim Gettys
welcomeeeeeeeeeeee
+Kinda Funny Let Tim post.
welcome new best friend
In my personal experience, you're not DMing properly *unless* you have no idea what you're doing.
ShatteredPsyche then you don't know the GOD that is Matthew Mercer. his prep for a session is legendary
DJ KO To that has been over 5 months ago. 5 Months. how's your Internet Explorer? do you know Donald Trump us president? go back to your mom you shouldn't be watching this since you're obviously under 18
Lol "DJ KO" are you a dj? Or do you just put a bunch of songs on a playlist and hope it's good
My headcanon is that this One-Shot and the "GameSpot" one are Dreams/Fantasies the Traveller sent Jester on when she was a kid and had a bad day back when she was living at the Chateau.
Wildmount? So this is canon to Critical Role. That makes this even funnier.
Jesters first few outings out of the lavish chateau probably involved this outshot LMAO
HAH there goes Laura, stealing from the party again lol. This was hilarious though.
Yep, good old thieving 'Burglar Bailey' STRIKES again. Geeeeez... >:/
ar least here it made sense because she's stealing from competitors and not comrades.
Greg's Speech to the Giants.....Oh my god......
I love how when Matt said his first "How do you want to do this?" the critrole crew were so enthusiatic while the kinda funny crew were just looking, or when -Greg I think- got a nat20 and Marisha was like "they were so unenthusiatic about it"
Them not even knowing how popular these nerds were about to get gives me endless joy
I loved when Tim impersonated Arnold Schwarzenegger in giant form.
Someone please make the quest into a kinda funny cartoon. A kinda funny straight to UA-cam movie.
that would be hilarious
Critical role is getting its own cartoon now
MVP's:
Tim's face
Kevin's laugh
4+ years later and Kinda Funny is so different in so many ways. Colin is gone, many new faces, new places, the shows have changed, and on and on. I miss these days.
Whatever is keeping Colin and Greg from reuniting isn't worth it. Go to 1:12:30 to watch them embrace each other. They were like brothers, and now... :(
RIP OG Kinda Funny
Embrace? Colin haphazardly put his arm on Greg's shoulder briefly. And judging by Colin's recent content, he hasn't changed at all but rather revealed his true colors like so many have these last 7 years, trying to fight the woke mob. It's crazy to think they even became friends with him to begin with, but then again, before 2016, a lot of people didn't dare to be too open with how morally bankrupt they are.
26:52 when Matt said Taryon. My heart skipped a beat...
0:59:00: Ease up on Travis! In the '70s Incredible Hulk TV series, Bill Bixby's role was Dr. David Banner. They renamed the character from the comic book, because the network thought the name "Bruce" wasn't manly enough for a lead.
"USE THE POTION OF GASEOUS FORM DAMN IT" - Me when Jester was covered in acid
+James L Welcome to Dungeons & Dragons, a world of fantasy and wonder in which nobody ever remembers to use their potions lol
I wish Colin did the voice of Jackie T for his character. Amazing episode, it would be awesome to do this more often.
that Scandinavian accent literally had my heart on lockdown! I am in love with Jester! lol
Whenever I'm feeling down I come here to re-watch Greg's completely bonkers Hook bit. Cheers me right up
This instantly became one of my favorite KF videos EVER. I would really love a long running Kinda Funny D&D campaign! Maybe like every other week in smaller portions?
My favourite part about this is the smile Tim gives everytime there's a close up of him. Like he's uncomfortable and unsure, so he just smiles.
lol its good to see that Marisha's Dwarf accent has improved lol
It's 2019 how am i just now learning of this?
Easily the best episode(s) yet. Thank you all for doing it.
I've been a fan of both channels for a long time, so this is amazing. THANK YOU!
Do more D&D in the future, please.
I can't believe I missed this! What a great guest mix for both shows. Matt Mercer once again does an excellent job bringing rookies into D&D live, on camera, in a way hardly anybody else can. Everyone is hilarious. Greg would be a perfect guest for Crit Role in this new season.
At 52:28 Laura straight up drinks air.
Peanut0423 it seems to be tradition with CR members. Matt often does the same.
proto Jester is just ever so slightly villainous isn't she? wonderful. XD
This was awesome, I'd love you guys would do more D&D stuff like once a month. (Even just by yourselves, So critical roll don't have to mess with their Schedules)
(Or maybe do a Kinda Funny/Node DnD next)
42:47 Reminds me when jester healed someone with her toe LOL
Greg jus straight gave up on save her n put coins on her eyes.... Fucking killed me lmao
I love how fish pants woman just got more and more drunk through the whole thing. Whole thing was absolutely hilarious guys, kudos
Hahahahhahaha this comment is killing me
SO THIS IS WHERE JESTER IS FROM
Don't normally watch the Video mainly a MP3 listener but I HAD to watch this episode!
+KangarooBeard I started it, go fifteen minutes in and logged onto the computer to finish.
+Jermaine Delgado Just did exactly this.
Came to see the origins of Jester for Critical Role season 2, stayed after seeing the pain on Greg Miller’s face at 6:18
The look the two dudes give each other when Laura fails at math is hilarious (43:37)
Mike Drucker needs to quit working for that hack nobody really knows, Jiminy Fallen (sp?), and come work for Kinda Funny as a "conceptual scenario advisor"
I believe it is time to do another Critical Role x Kinda Funny adventure!!!!
(accidentally found this one video lost in the Kinda Funny list, freaking happy to have found it :D )
Nothing better than telling Voice Actors how to use a Mic on air.
One would reasonably presume that it's a habit because they routinely have to do so - and there's no reason to think Travis knows how their individual studio does something. You don't need to look for goodies and baddies in fun side projects :p
I have always found dungeons and dragons to be embarrassingly nerdy but this was awesome. Scratch that, it was fantastic. Had me laughing so hard. What a good episode.
This is the best episode I've seen! These guys should collab more often.
This still makes me so fucking happy.
Same; just had to watch it again!
"Yay Critical Ro-OHMYGODSAUSAGEDOG!!!"
I know we're all here for Jester's origins. But can we talk about how ecstatic Travis is playing a Order of the Lycan Bloodhunter?
Only a short ways into this, but I swear if Taliesin didn't go bloodhunter Travis might've.
That said if (Gods forbid) Fjord ever dies I could see Travis going Blood Hunter.
Tim Gettys 2016 - Make America DM Again
T-Shirt of Nick setting a garbage truck on fire with a fireball. I'd buy the shit out of that.
Finished Critical Role C2 and then started C1. Jumped over to this when I got to the episode when Laura mentioned Jester. Not dissapointed
Easily the best episode of the series. Do more of these
39:20 Grog is that you?
Omg Jester?! I vaguely remember Laura mentioning she had played as her before but i thought it was off camera! Omg yes yes yes!
Ever notice when D&D Newbs do something like this they always think role playing means YELL AS LOUD AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE!!!
Not me Coming here in 2024 to watch jester and laughing so hard at how amazed they are about how large the critical role fandom is at 20.000, knowing the heights it’s going to reach
Dungeons & Dragons : Nick The Mage Epic Story
An Animation of this is integral to the success of Nick the mage's heroic bout !
"I don't know how to play but I know I want a car" lol
Jester coming out for the actual Critical Role New Campaign, So cool!!!
I love that the two halves of the table are outfit-coordinated
Comedy geeks vs. Gothy nerds? 😆😆😆
Laura's Tiefling voice = sex for the ears.
We need another episode like this, make it happen!
Wow, Jester had a wide media rollout in 2016.
Greggy's deception and simultaneous Hook reference is probably the funniest thing I've ever heard.
And now Jester the Tiefling Cleric is the new Laura Bailey's character in the new campaign of Critical Role
Go Travis! Go Blood Hunter!! Go Order of the Lycan!!!
we need some fanart of greg with the peoples edge
Ah Critical Role is life!
Jester is adorable and Awesome.
Well now Jester is Laura’s PC in the next campaign. So this is her first appearance.
Sam Pfeiffer Gamespot crossover might have been first.
Kris Barski Oh really, that’s really cool I never saw the Gamespot cross over might need to watch it now . Thanks for the tip.
Sam Pfeiffer she didn't use her lollypop form on the spiritual weapon yet ;)
Coming back to this video to see Jester and I forgot how funny Greg was. This was really chaotic but fun to see the guys having fun and making mistakes.
I bumped my pledge just for this. Cannot explain how excited I am
+Edmond Ortiz Same here, on both points
I haven't been a huge fan of Greg in any RT/AH video yet, but holy shit did he make this video 300% more funny.
another campaign 1 connection - the SHITs was the original team name for Vox Machina
I'd love for a reunion between Jester and Teragon on Critical Role.
"Teradon Masterclef here reporting for hell"
Thank you UA-cam recommend for pre beard Matt and Greg.
Thanks you!! This is literally a dream episode!! Crossover of a lifetime!! XXXXX
Please come back Critical Role!!
Laura Bailey is so cute!
