Boots! Personally for the 1st viewing I wouldn’t recommend the extended. The added scenes are not critically great and there’s a reason they were cut (from a die hard fan who loves the extended and has watched the blu rays 200 times)
I don't either. I was getting so frustrated watching this review. Sure, this movie isn't perfect and has some flaws but it has some amazing scenes and is a really fun ride. I do agree a lot of the stuff like Han's last name and the dice are pointless though
'Wouldnt he have checked the device after shaking Solos hand?' Kevin dude, hes not gonna check the cards up his sleeve with people there bud, thats the point of cheating.
Fun little tidbit is that George Lucas said the millennium falcon is the fastest ship in the galaxy because it has the best navigation system, therefore always determining the shortest route possible. It being “fast” does not have to do with speed after all 🤪
I don’t think referencing Bossk, one of the best bounty hunters in the universe, makes the universe smaller. Trandoshans are well known as hunters, mentioning one makes sense
Just FYI, there are deleted scenes of Han being a pilot at the Imperial Academy and an actual action scene during the war part after he meets Wood Harrelson's character
The only thing I straight up disliked about this movie is how Han got his name. I have always loved Han Solo as a character-ever since I was three years old and saw them for the first time. And I was satisfied with Alden’s performance and I really liked the movie ultimately built around him. To each his own I guess
If you just go in to this movie expecting a fun adventure I really think it's enjoyable. If you expect it to be the next new great Star Wars you're going to be let down. I went into this movie in theaters wanting a fun ride and I was pleasantly surprised. I do fully agree a lot of the "ties" to the OT like the dice and the Solo name are real dumb. Also, the military scene on the muddy planet is one of the coolest things in Star Wars to me. I love seeing the gritty warfare with the ATST getting dropped in and whatnot
It would have been interesting if the message of the movie was that Han learns to work with other people instead of always going it alone. That could have been an interesting way to incorporate the “Solo” name into the theme of the movie.
I would love to see a movie directed by Nick. Clearly...CLEARLY anything he would touch would end up being the authoritative bible on film making. Legendary film makers would see the error of their ways and follow our lord and savior's wisdom on how to make quality cinema. Some how, we've all been fooling ourselves into how movies should be written, directed, produced, cast, styled, and done, but alas..Nick..from Kinda Funny has it all figured out. We can all sleep easier knowing he has his wall of Oscar and Academy awards for film writing and directing well in hand...
I feel like Nick and needs better viewing situations because alot of times Nick says how he watched the movie it's ridiculous. Not specific examples but it's like I had it on behind me while I was washing dishes or I watched it over the course of 4 days in various viewing states and I feel like not many movies can hold up against that. I understand being busy but it's 2 hours watch it while eating dinner or before bed or something. not I started the first 20 minutes in the middle of a sunlit Starbucks. I know I said Nick but through all the in reviews they've all done similar things
I can’t believe they don’t like Alden Erinriech as Han as a die hard Star Wars fan I loved him as young Han. He seemed more like Han1.0 and Harrison Ford is like Han2.0 the perfect version
I like this podcast because it allows me to think about these movies and make a clear opinion of them without having to go through the trouble of re-watching them again
36:49 sorry Nick, but I don't think that's accurate. Droids have their own language and other races too. Finn doesn't understand Chewie when he meets him. Luke doesn't understand R2D2 at first, relying on C3P0 to translate. But as the movies go on, Luke learns the basics of binary and can communicate with R2 on his own.
I love Nick normally but couldn’t disagree more with Tim about Nick’s negativity at the start. It’s got so bad that the entire cast is just arguing with Nick about everything he says. I miss Greg doing the plot.
1:04:32 N: It tastes like you or meat? K: Meat! N: I thought you said it tastes like me, and I was like, what does that taste like? Lomos saltado! **everyone dies**
Perhaps Maul took the lightsaber out to show her he means business. Like "you're under me, fuck up and I'm using this on you". That Darth Maul scene was so fucking cool to me. It got me super excited to see him in another movie which hopefully they do. I can see them not doing it though since Solo didn't do well
Alden Ehrenreich was good! He felt like a very young, naive Han Solo, and he brought his own flavor to the role. I would not have liked it if he had just done a Harrison Ford impression the whole time.
The problem is that we have morally questionable characters saying funny shit, funny characters saying heroic shit, and heroic characters saying morally questionable shit.
1: Return of the Jedi 2: The Force Awakens 3: The Empire Strikes Back/ The Last Jedi 4: A New Hope 5: Rouge One 6: Solo 7: Revenge of the Sith Sizable cliff 8: Phantom Menace 9: Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith in my opinion is miles better than solo. Solo I was bored coming out of the theater. At least there were parts in Rots that made me feel emotion and honestly it had some of John William's best work.
While I do agree looking back I think George ultimately fucked the prequels up by 'killing' Darth Maul so soon and as Nick said: Too much green screen.
Normally I love Nick’s hyperbolic breakdowns of movies. But when it comes to Star Wars he acts like a kid that went to one semester of Filmmaking class at a community college and automatically thinks he’s a career filmmaker and knows better than the professionals. It’s obvious that his mind was made up about most Star Wars movies, other than the OT, before they even came out. He goes into them already disliking them. It’s a total old fogey mentality lol. This movie is far from great but it’s perfectly fine and is a fun watch. Also it’s totally ok to not like it but his level of blatant hate for it is just uncalled for. He’s becoming insufferable and is honestly killing In Review for me. In Review has changed from a comically over-critical breakdown of movies into Nick just making fun them and him pretentiously believing he could do better. Honestly it’s getting old. Maybe Nick should sit out the next In Review series that you guys do.

I 100% agree with this statement. There is something about Star Wars with them. In Review has been one of my favorite shows on UA-cam since MCU in Review but the Star Wars run has been completely unbearable to watch. In Review used to be a comedy show looking at movie series with a critical eye, but this one is just pure hatred towards anything that goes against their view of what Star Wars is allowed to be.
I think in Review itself needs to take a break. Im with you I love this series but I think the last few runs hasn't been that great. Between the Star War movie episodes (which some of great) and the Mandolorian (which should have been reviewed once the series was finish). I feel maybe its a bit overstaturtion for us and for them. And next year won't be better if they continue like this because they will review the Marvel shows on Disney +, Ghost Busters, James Bond, and whatever other one us they throw in. However I think we Kinda Funny Games 4.0 coming in Jan. Does anyone get the feeling that we are getting a In Review series for game franchises.
I hate to say this, because I like Nick, but I agree. I'm 15 minutes in and I may have to just turn this off. It's going to be another 2 hours of Nick just talking over everyone with his atrocious movie takes. I stopped watching The Mandalorian reviews after #1 because I can't even right now. For example: Prequel criticism = why does everything in this universe revolve around one family? Mandalorian criticism = Why doesn't this relate to the one family?
@@ShaneSanders What really bothered me about the Mandalorian, was the somewhat back peddling of them liking episode 1 and 2 becase they saw the first 3 in a special screening in a theater. I gurantee if they had to watch episode 3 like the rest of the us they would been against it.
I agree, Rogue One gets all this praise but the first 80% of the movie is extremely boring, and the characters are terrible other than the main villain. When the most memorable scene is 10 seconds of Vader how is that a good film? SOLO was enjoyable for me from start to finish, and honestly, I still didn't like the guy they chose to play Solo, but the movie was still good, and all the characters were great, especially Beckett.
Nick shitting on everything Star Wars is so dumb, pretty pointless to have him still on these reviews when it’s just nothing but negativity all the time
Nick is unbearable. Tries to rip apart every aspect of the movie just to make it seem like he is more intelligent than those making it. And half the time his criticisms are unwarranted or nit picky. He is too attached to the OT and has forgotten how to have fun with Star Wars
@BennettDoe I’m not going to say this movie is anything special but I had fun with it. I just think people have started to enjoy hating Star Wars. Nick reviews these movies like he is some renowned filmmaker and seems to be bitter over the fact that the series expanded past the OT. It’s Star Wars. It’s a lighthearted adventure. Have some fun and stop taking it too seriously
@@seanmonahan5317 I think it it different for every generation. I grew up with the prequels and Nick grew up with the OT. Nick and I will have different experiences and opinions on those films and WHAT Star Wars means or should be. I have a seen a lot of arguments lately that "it should be light hearted and should sweat the small stuff" but that is not what Star Wars has ever been. I think the decisiveness has pushed people to think that what Disney is offering is what they should accept but we all critic this franchise because we love it and want it to be better. Not (in most cases) because we love to hate on something popular.
@BennettDoe I agree with you that it is different for each generation but I think that is part of the problem. People grew up with Star Wars and have this grand memory of what it felt like to watch them as a child. No movie is going to live up to how things are seen with a child’s eyes. I grew up with the prequels and loved them as a kid but realize now they aren’t very well made movies but I still enjoy watching them. I think the same can be said for the OT. They aren’t perfect films by any means. Sometimes you just have to try and watch these films with that childlike openness again and you’ll realize the Disney movies are still fun and very well made. They don’t deserve the hate they are receiving. And I imagine the generation growing up with the Disney movies are having the same fantastic experiences we had growing up with Star Wars
Wish you guys would have left Nick out of the Star Wars reviews. He clearly loves to hate them. He's much, much harsher than he needs to be on all of them. If you watched a movie on your phone in a Starbucks, your thoughts on it are immediately null and void in my book. Wish the group that do the Book of Boba Fett reviews(Tim, Carboni, Barret and Saige) were doing these with Andy and Kevin.
It was very 'Nick Picky' in the beginning but was enjoyable overall, Nick even nailed the problem with the Prequels when trying to rank Solo, Too much CGI green screen.
Nick is just ruining these for me. They used to be fun with jokes and light hearted commentary. Now with nick hosting it is just someone shitting on a movie over and over again. Like he never says anything that he likes about them. It seems like he doesnt TRY to enjoy the movies. He only looks for things to nit pick. I miss greg reviewing the movies in a good natured, if slightly hyperbolic, way. I got 20 mins in and had to turn it off bc it wasnt fun to listen to. I dont enjoy people complaining about a movie for 2 hours. I want to relive the movie in a fun way, not someone ripping every little thing to shreds for no reason. There are perfectly fine and fun scenes that he seems to find the need to find something, anything wrong with it instead of just watching it to have fun. Cant wait for greg to host again.
Solo is the best Disney made Star Wars movie Also just want to add that this is the only Star Wars movie where Chewbacca is treated like his own character with his own personal goals and opinions.
This movie woulda been fine if it wasn't about Han Solo. It coulda literally been the exact same and just been a heist movie in the Star Wars universe and it'd be grand. It's all the Han Solo stuff that ruins it because we don't need it.
No disrespect to Alden's performance... but go watch Age of Adeline and tell me Anthony Ingruber wouldn't have been a more believable young Solo/Harrison Ford.
The movie is dumb fun. Nothing more, nothing less. Can't believe yall considered putting it below the prequels. Those are offensively bad movies. This is a well made movie with a lot of dumb stuff in it. Aside from being annoyed at them overly explaining everything, is there really that much to dislike?
I would love for y'all to talk about Avatar the Last Airbender series. Kinda Funny Podcast topic maybe? Maybe an In-Review series where you do 5 avatar episodes per In-Review video?
This is the only Star Wars movie that's ALMOST as fucking awful as the Prequels. The Star Wars timeline can be split into 2 eras. The shitty garbage era: - Phantom Menace - Attack Of The Clones - Revenge Of The Sith - Solo And the mostly great era: - Rogue One - A New Hope - The Empire Strikes Back - Return Of The Jedi - The Mandalorian - The Force Awakens - The Last Jedi Whatever problems The Last Jedi has, they're relatively minor. The problems the Prequels and Solo have are fucking CATASTROPHIC.
I think people underestimate the amount of people that hated last jedi then didn't go see solo because of it.... definitely wasn't just about the bad reviews
Landan reich I think the biggest reason for the flop wasn’t either of those things. Definitely not bad reviews or Venom wouldn’t have made the amount of money it did. This movie also came out next Infinity War, one of the biggest movie events ever. I’d say that had more hand in the flop that reviews or hate for the Last Jedi. And we’ll see next week. Because TROS is selling out in places. It’s gonna make 3 times What Solo did easily. And I think the marketing was another factor that we forget about. The first trailer for the movie came out 3 months before it released. What were they thinking?
I don’t know why y’all hate Alden so much. Also man Nick shouldn’t be in these anymore. He hates everything yet and bullies anyone who has a different opinion. He sets up there on his high horse yet he loves so many horrible movies.
@JCLegoMan it’s one thing to dislike a movie and another to just rip apart every aspect of the movie with the others barely being able to give input. It makes these videos difficult to watch unless you enjoy watching someone shit on a movie for 2 hours. He just comes off as pretentious in these reviews. I normally enjoy Nick. Just not when he talks about movies
This movie wasn’t bad, but it also really didn’t do anything for me. Nick has a point with them needing to explain things that didn’t need explanation, which is also my issue with Rogue One. I think the biggest issue, though, is that having anyone but Harrison Ford play Han Solo becomes just the biggest obstacle for immersion. I don’t think Alden was bad, but he’s not Harrison Ford. They should have done a different character-focused movie if they really wanted to do one.
I watched the mainline 8 plus rogue one and solo all in these last like 2 weeks... and my conclusion? Star Wars is solid, but all the movies are more or less similar in quality and arguing that the OG trilogy is some sacred thing is just nostalgia hardcore. I like 7 and 8 even more than all the others simply because I think they are all similar in quality except the new movies have better acting, better visuals, and better fights.
Ive seen Alden Ehrenreich in other things and he is a wonderful actor, the issue is he is NOT Han Solo in this. I seriously think his performance is so bad because of the direction. I think Lord & Miller we’re trying to make this work in the edit, its how they shoot all their films. Ron Howard is one of the most vanilla, bland directors in Hollywood & Kasdan was far too precious about his terrible script. It sounds like he wanted to direct the film. I actually think Glovers Billy Dee impression is worse in this. All the things I expected to be solid: the script, Glover, etc were terrible! It was such a disappointment as a Star Wars film.
The one thing that really shows Kathleen Kennedy's incompetence was that she didn't fire Lord and Miller until their last week of production. If she truely had an issue with them, how could she not have foreseen it during the pre-production process? She hired them a whole year before production started, how could she not know then they may have creative differences. She completely wasted Lord and Miller's time. Absolute incompetence.
It's honestly mind-boggling that they knit-pick this movie so much while praising Rogue One. The only thing RO does better is visuals/cinematography. Literally, all other aspects of film-making are better in Solo. If Solo had a forced Darth Vader cameo instead of Maul they'd be suckling at its teet like Luke in Last Jedi.
Comment section summed up: I hate Nick, Solo is a good movie. Really surprised at how many people defend this movie but yet it still bombed at box office.
Alright guys... Tim had them guess the box office for Solo and Nick guessed 600k knowing the budget was 300k... Then when it was revealed it only made 300k he responded with "oh yeah it was in the news that it was the first star wars to lose money".... TWO SECONDS AGO YOU SAID IT MADE TWICE ITS BUDGET AND NOW YOU SAY OH YEAH HEADLINES. WHAT. WHAT. WHAT.
But if the escape pod goes in the front center, and they got rid of it in Solo... What does Rey use in EP8 to get onto snokes ship? The "other" escape bod?
“I watched the first 20 minutes at Starbucks”. I hate so much about the things you choose to be, nick.

Nah bro this movie fucking sucks
A+ Jason Garrett rant.
Also did nobody question why there was a shower on that ship? Lol
This In Review straight up baffles me and I’m only 18 minutes in.
It was very 'Nick Picky' in the beginning but was enjoyable overall, Nick even nailed the problem with the Prequels when trying to rank Solo, Too much CGI green screen.
Remember when Nick made that awesome starwars movie? Oh wait.. .
Alden did a good job. Never understood the hate
He did an okay job for what he had.
Solo is the best Disney made Star Wars movie
Also just want to add that this is the only Star Wars movie where Chewbacca is treated like his own character with his own personal goals and opinions.
9 minutes in... Tim, What have you done to me... I didn't really have a problem with Solo and now I hate it because it's not your Disney+ show idea...
Nick is just salty to the point it's pethatic.
Gavin Castilla yeah he’s been annoying in the Review series.
jurassic universe in review
I actually like the beginning of this movie. Not a fan of the rest of it.
I actually disagree and I think this movie whips ass! I still enjoyed this video though. So whatever!
I freakin love you Nick 😂
The more of these reviews I watch these guys do the more I question wtf tv/settings they are watching these on.
Middle-earth Saga Extended Editions in review please!
This is maybe my favourite Star Wars and I think Alden killed it as Han. If we never see him reprise the role I’ll die an unhappy man.
No. You are a fucking idiot
This is the only Star Wars movie that's ALMOST as fucking awful as the Prequels.
The Star Wars timeline can be split into 2 eras.
The shitty garbage era:
- Phantom Menace
- Attack Of The Clones
- Revenge Of The Sith
- Solo
And the mostly great era:
- Rogue One
- A New Hope
- The Empire Strikes Back
- Return Of The Jedi
- The Mandalorian
- The Force Awakens
- The Last Jedi
Whatever problems The Last Jedi has, they're relatively minor.
The problems the Prequels and Solo have are fucking CATASTROPHIC.
When there's no Watto 😫😫😫😫😫
I like solo more then last jedi.
No. Just no
Same
I get that Nick didn't like Solo but man he really twisted the knife in this review lmao
"Bullies anyone who has a different opinion." Calm down poptart he's not bullying anyone it's just a disagreement.
Solo is a better movie, and easier rewatch than Rogue One or The Last Jedi. IMO

They horribly miscast Han solo. Other than that it was fine.
1:04:53 What?!
The main problem with Solo is that Han has his character arc in the original trilogy. Here, he starts as young hotshot and ends as a young hotshot.
Spider-verse was pretty serious yet funny and worked beautifully. Also I would have went with lando as the star
Nailed that impression Andy. Good review guys; agree with the fun parts/good actors that should be praised in this middle of the road movie.
A fantastic movie that got little praise
This movies not terrible but I fucking hate it
I love you Nick
Donald Glover is a phenomenal actor
LETHAL WEAPON IN REVIEW
Hope y'all been doing well. Love my best friends!
Comment section summed up:
I hate Nick,
Solo is a good movie.
Really surprised at how many people defend this movie but yet it still bombed at box office.
I saw it twice in theaters, so I wasn't the problem lol.
@@Pistol101 I also pulled a double SOLO :)
I skipped it in theaters, and just watched it recently. I loved it, and wished I had seen it in theaters.
WHAT. WHAT. WHAT.
Dang right at the upload, not even HD ready yet
But if the escape pod goes in the front center, and they got rid of it in Solo... What does Rey use in EP8 to get onto snokes ship? The "other" escape bod?
