What has been your experience with Tulip crochet hooks? Let's help those who are on the fence about getting them! Here's my detailed guide about Tulip crochet hooks if you need more info : bit.ly/3wIS6nC
I have pink, grey, and red Tulip hooks. I LOVE THEM!! I have plenty of other styles, brands, shapes, sizes of hooks, but my Tulip hooks are my go-to. I need multiples because I can leave hooks with WIP’s. 🤷🏻♀️ The different metal finishes for the actual hook parts are different, and work differently with different yarns, different fibers. It’s good to have variety. 👍🏼
I first learned to crochet during Covid. I had to go to a different country to see family and the requirement was isolation in a hotel for 14days. I asked my Mother in law if she had any crochet stuff I could borrow to help pass the time. I learned strictly from UA-cam videos. Bhooked was one of them and still is my favorite. The hooks my mother in law gave me were her mother’s. They are just the very plain very old hooks but I love them for the nostalgia. Grandmas no longer with us but her hooks seem to bring me good luck on projects and I felt I learned very easy with them. Hooks do matter and I love the unboxing video. I am going to take your advice and try the 6.5 by itself but in the black and gold if I can find it. Dirty hook handles would drive me nuts lol Happy Birthday month! Love that you treated yourself. We should all do that more often
I've had the pink set for many years, and I love them. They don't discolour, but they get dirty from the oils etc. in your hands. I find they clean easily, though, with a bit of soapy water.
Tulip are the best crochet hooks! Congratulations whit this new set! I have a pink Tulip set, all the same color even the iron is pink! Now I have bought the Tulip red ones. The come in more sizes! I bought 1.80 mm, 2 mm, 2,20 mm, 2.50 mm, 2,75 mm, 3 mm, 3,25 mm, 3.50 mm, 3.75 mm. I crochet with thinner yarns. And the are so beautiful and crochet so smooth! The are haven! The are the best I ever had! I crochet over 55 years.
I LOVE my Tulip hooks. The shaft is as smooth as glass and the handle is comfortable. Worth every penny. I also have a set of the Clover Amour hooks and love them as well. The shaft is more textured on these and they’re better for working tightly, or with smooth yarn.
Sounds like a good video idea! I find that the Amour is a very similar crochet experience. The only big difference is the texture of the hook. Think of it like a matte piece of paper vs a shiny piece of paper. You'll probably notice the smoother finish of the Tulip coming from Amour.
I have those same black & gold hooks, they are my all time favorites. (Especially when i hold my hook in the knife position, they’re very comfortable). Now why did you have to go & show me those pink ones😅Happy Birthday, treat yourself you deserve it.😊
I do not crochet ergonomically. My Irish grandmother taught me years ago and I hood my hook as if I am signing my name. The only time I can do it ergonomically is with single crochet. I don’t feel like my tension is as good the new way lol.
Okay, first, take the tassel cover off 😂 It stays nice and is so fun and cute flopping around. I also have the gray set, and I too got these because they are pink! But I love them! I just looked and I don’t see any discoloration, some scuffing on the most used but that’s it. I actually think the handles on the gray set of mine discolored and got a little waxy feeling. I would look but they are all stashed away in wips (I always keep the hook with the work so I don’t forget which one I used 😅) I got a red tulip to do a project in black yarn, loved it too, the matte red finish reduces the glare from lighting. Love them all!
hello! I'm about to buy these needles but I saw a video that with the tulip roses the thread gets stuck a little or doesn't slide as much as with the gray or red ones... is that happening to you? Are gray ones better than pink ones?
The Tulips and the clovers are my best crochet hooks ❤, ever and I have many many others I always go back to my tulips and clovers. Thanks for sharing.
I've been using Clover pretty much since I started crocheting 6 years ago. I just ordered these hooks and I'm hoping I find them as comfortable to use as the Clovers. Since you say you love them both...I'm encouraged!
I adore my red Tulip hooks. I do find that I tend to crochet tighter with them, though. Alternately, with longer handled hooks, I crochet looser. I still wouldn't give up my red Tulips for anything because they feel just that good to me. And Happy Birthday! Mine is tomorrow (3/2) 😊
I have the pink set, a few years now, maybe 5 years. They still look great and don't discoloration much at all, for me anyway. My most treasured hooks.
I have child size, Hands, and I love the size of the EO hooks. All three colors are an excellent choice. I also love my clover hook. The thing I love the most about the clover hooks is that they are color-coded, and I have serious vision issues, which make it hard to read sizes on the hooks. I think you can expect the pink hooks to get dirtier overtime, because of the lighter color. All you need to do is just wipe them off, and they will be just fine. I happen to love the rollup case the black and gold hook came in. It’s perfect to throw in my bag and carry wherever I go. I added the 10.5 mm hook. By the way, I loved the squares you were joining. They are so pretty. Thanks for doing this video, I hope you will continue to enjoy all your at the hooks. I have a couple of the red ones and they are nice too. You really can’t go wrong with any of them.
I do micro crochet and can tell you that the finer gauge Tulip hooks are not worth it. I'm talking anything 1.00 mm and anything below. My go to in a hook is a 0.50 mm and a 0.75 mm and the Tulip hooks of that size have an alarming tendency to snap in two. For larger size hooks, Tulip are unbeatable, regardless of colour, but for the smaller 'lace' weight hooks, forget it. Happy birthday. I hope your special day has brought you much joy. ❤ Thank you for your channel.
@@candismetz5650 I'm afraid I can't help you in smaller gauge hook brands, as I now use vintage Australian Millford hooks that once belonged to my grandmother. Very hard to get as the company is no longer in business, but fantastic to use!
Don't have the pink hooks but I LOVE my black and gold tulips I got them after watching your review of them years ago, I hope you are happy with them both :)
You are so right. The pink is lovely. I have the black and gold said, and I really love the rollup get it comes in. I also have a couple of the red and several of the pink. I like them all, but I have to admit that the pinkdo kind of make me happy.
I agree! This is the best crochet hook brand. I also have the black and gold set with the pink set on my wish list for a long time. I’m sure I will pull the trigger eventually. Appreciate the review!
I have them too, and like you, I have not been able to bring myself to remove the tassel cover. 😆They really are gorgeous and my most precious crochet possession. No other hook performs as well as these for me. I have had them for over a year or so, but have not experienced the discolouration you describe, even though I crochet up to eight hours every day. My most used hook is the 3.5mm. I must admit that I'm a bit paranoid about keeping my work clean, so I regularly wash my hands throughout the day, as even hands that look clean produce small amounts of oil that can transfer onto the yarn or hook. I only use hand cream after I have finished for the day, and wash my hands thoroughly before resuming my work the next day, so perhaps consider what products you use on your hands? I haven't noticed a change in the silver part either.
I love love love my pink ones. I got them when I started doing mosaic crochet as the tips are slightly pointer and the shaft smoother and glide more easier over the yarn than the Clovers ( which are my regular go to ones)
Hi Brittany, I don't have any of the Tulip hooks because they're a bit more than i can afford but, I do love the look of them and almost bought a single to try. I opted for the Clover Amore hooks, buying them one or two at a time because it t was easier to fit into my budget. I love them a lot. I never got into the Furls hooks because I hold my hooks with a pencil grip and the Furls style hooks, though lovely, are way to expensive for a hook im just going to look at. Lol! Although, I have really been admiring their trays. I thik they are a wonderful idea for keeping stitch markers and other small notions coraled while in active use. But, the Tins and tin section dividers from Twice Sheared Sheep are a more practical choice for me because of function, storage and organization. Sorry, I got way too far from hooks there. I truly appreciate this informative video, Brittany. Thank you so much. ✌️💜🧶
Beautiful hook. I have my aunts from the 30's and 40's Susan Bates hooks. I ordered from we crochet Tunisian crochet hooks yesterday because they were in sale 1/2 price. Cant wait to get then. Thaks again
I have both sets also. I only use Tulip. Love them. In my opinion they are the best. The only downside is that I have worn off the numbers/letters on the ones I use the most. Enjoy them!
I love my tulip hooks, I have the pInk and red sets. Both have been used a lot for the last 2-3 years. I bought a couple odd ones and then both sets. I have not noticed a color change in any of my hook handles. Hope they stay as great as they are now. Enjoy 😊
I love the tulip etimo in all their colours. Haven't had issues with the pink handles discolouring. I also have a bunch of clover Amour and love them too... both equally fabulous but use them each a bit differently.
Interesting. My pink set handles aren’t discolored and I’ve used them a lot. I also have the black set and just got the red set a month ago. I love the Tulip hooks.
Idk what I expected when I looked for them on Amazon, but I'm new to crochet and I did not expect a set of hooks to be 100 bucks 😂 still adding them to my Amazon wishlist tho
I have multiple brands of hooks in multiple sizes but only haf one red 14:02 Tulip hook. I am saving up for aset of Tulips. I love working with that hook so much. 😊
I have the gray and gold ones that I love. The case with the pink ones looks exactly like the case that the Boye Hooks set that Walmart sells comes in! I thought they would have a different case for the price. Thank you for the great review! I love the pink too..just been holding off buying because of the price. But...its my Birthday month too so ...maybe?? Lol! Hugs from WV!
I have had my Tulip hooks since 2018 and use them exclusively. I bought the pink set after I heard your podcast discussing hooks. My only concern is for those who may large hands, the Tulips may be too short.
Thank you for doing a video on these. Recently, I did view these on Amazon, but wasn’t quite sure they were right for me. Like you, I am particular about little things, and feel I would be slightly disgruntled about the colour fading, and so quickly. 😢 However, with a little rethinking this con, it is a very small reason to dislike these comfortable and pretty coloured hooks. I just started knitting, and need some help about what are reasonably priced, good needles to buy, that are metal, single pointed, and larger in size, for making a sweater. 😊
I completely understand! I washed it up with a little hand soap and water, and it cleaned right up. I love the idea of doing a needle video too! I'll definitely put that on my list for the B.Hooked Knitting channel 👍
The Tulip Etimo crochet hooks are BY FAR my most favorite crochet hooks! I don't have the red ones. I have the grey with gold hook kind. Smooooooth as silk! I have one set. I want two more for all the projects I like having started at one time. I knit also and same goes for my needles.....i like many of the same kind that I love. I am getting rid of my Furls even. Don't like them. I have gotten rid of most all other crochet hooks in my collection.
I have had the pink tulip hooks now for about 4 years now and I love them! Unfortunately I have found that they do get dirty fast. I’m thinking that now I want the black and gold set.
I've been using the pink set for awhile. I love them. I recently picked up the black set to keep at Mom's house so I can crochet there. I like them just as much. I picked up a single red one and for some reason don't care for it as much as the pink and black. I haven't noticed any discoloration on my pink set but I always wash my hands before I sit down to crochet. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. BTW, I didn't take the plastic off the tassel on the case for quite some time so I get why you haven't taken yours off yet. LOL
hello! I'm about to buy these needles but I saw a video that with the tulip roses the thread gets stuck a little or doesn't slide as much as with the gray or red ones... is that happening to you? Are gray ones better than pink ones?
@@modo.crochet Do you mean the ones in the grey case? If so, I’ve used them, the pink (roses) and the red. The red are the only ones I find don’t slide as well. I mainly use the grey case and the pink case and I think they are equal.
@@suzanne7750 Ah well, thanks for responding. I was about to buy 10 loose ones in pink and I saw that video that said they didn't slide well, and then this video and I was afraid that they would stain too. So I doubted the pink or gray ones. Thanks for answering
Thanks for your review. I've been using Clover Amour hooks for a few years...and I love them. BUT...they're not pink! I saw this set on another video and decided to check them out on Amazon. I think they would have gone on my Wish List instead of in my cart...except that I had enough credits built up where the money from my wallet was...$3.50. That's right...three dollars and fifty cents. How could I NOT get them when they were practically free?! (Now...I just have to hope they are as comfortable to use as the Clovers. :) )
Happy belated birthday. I fell in love Tulip hooks because of you. I ended up with the black and gold, the pink and the red set. Each colour have a purpose. The red set is easy on the eyes so it's currently my favourite. Now I need suggestions for the perfect case for the black and red hooks.
I have the same tulip pink crochet hook set ant the gray/gold 6.5 mm and some how I am not sure way I don’t love the pink coloured ones less than the gray/gold one; may be it gives the vips of being fancy and more grown up? Not really know or even care. They work comfortably and make crocheting seem easier. 😅
I do have a set of Clover Amour, and I love them so much. I’ve been tempted to buy the Etimo Rose set because they’re my favorite color: but the Clovers are just so perfect, I’m afraid I’d be wasting my money on Etimo Rose hooks because I’d just want to use my Clovers anyway.
Can't blame you there! I really love Amour hooks too, but Tulips just seemed to click a little more for me. You could always get one of the Rose hooks to try them out!
Take the tassel cover off! Unless you have a cat that will destroy your tassel. I have a grey set, and a pink set and extra favourite sizes also. I use the pink Tulips most, as I love them. Wash the hooks when needed, mine are not discoloured. The grey set storage has extra pockets for hooks as that set only has eight hooks, whereas the pink set has ten hooks. I also love the Tulip scissors.
oh no, why did you have to show me 😂😂 worse than my yarn addiction is my HOOK addiction, and ive been wondering where people got those black and gold ones from. Maybe I'll have to send my "old" hooks to my friend after all 🤣❣️
I don't want to be a bad influence, but I don't think you'll be disappointed! 😂 Get the 6.5mm first to try them out...it'll cost about the same as a nice skein of yarn 🙃
Hi, thank you for sharing this. Did you ever consider Clover amour? I am so happy with these hooks, I have bought one Tulip for testing and like Clover better.
Please, could you tell me what is the length measurement for the tulip hooks from start of handle to the tip of hook, and from the start of the hook from handle to the tip / hook part, think i'm talking about the shaft i need to know how long they are, thinking about buying some.
Do these hooks have the rubber like feel to the handle like most crochet hooks? Since my carpel tunnel surgery I can’t use the hooks with that type of handle. Thank you for this video. 🐭
I love, and have, the red, the pink and the grey, tulip are my favorites. I'll like to have the dark blue, but exist only in a kit ... to expansive.... and i need only some. I follow "lidia crochet tricot". She use only those tulip hooks.
I have both hooks. I prefer the tulip because I don’t like the plastic hooks when crocheting with acrylic yarn. It squeaks. But the Clover hooks come in larger sizes for the larger yarn, which is why i invested in them.
I have had the pink set about a year and yes the the handles discolor. But still I love these hooks. I found the clover hooks do the same thing. So I may get the gray ones now😆😊
Clover and Tulip are all made in Japan. Are they made by the same company? Clover stitch markers are so superior to the usual plastic ones and their bent needles are also superior products that make crochet much more enjoyable especially for amigurumi. I know exactly what you are going through with the pink ones. Drool.
You are so right. The pink is lovely. I have the black and gold said, and I really love the rollup get it comes in. I also have a couple of the red and several of the pink. I like them all, but I have to admit that the pinkdo kind of make me happy.😊

Sitting here watching you while crocheting with my pink Tulip 5.5mm hook😂
If you like the pink you will LOVE the red set! ❤ 🤭
They're next on my list! 😆
I have both and for some reason I find the grey and gold hooks nicer to use 🤷
The Tulip Etimo crochet hooks are BY FAR my most favorite crochet hooks! I don't have the red ones. I have the grey with gold hook kind. Smooooooth as silk! I have one set. I want two more for all the projects I like having started at one time. I knit also and same goes for my needles.....i like many of the same kind that I love. I am getting rid of my Furls even. Don't like them. I have gotten rid of most all other crochet hooks in my collection.
These are by far the best needles to use I've had them for9 years
The rose ones? Did they discolor?
I love my Tulip Etimo gold hooks.
I have some of the pink hooks and yes they are the same
I have had the pink tulip hooks now for about 4 years now and I love them! Unfortunately I have found that they do get dirty fast. I’m thinking that now I want the black and gold set.
Despite there not being a spot with a band, I hide an extra hook beneath the little pocket thing and it doesn’t fall out.
@@modo.crochet I’ve been using my pink ones regularly for months and haven’t had any issues with staining. Good luck with your decision.
@@suzanne7750 thank you!! Then I'm going to buy them. They look beautiful!!! You are very kind to respond. greetings
I just ordered my second set.
Happy birthday and I like the Pink set too
Thanks for your review.
Do you notice any difference other than colour choice in how they feel to use? Are the red matte ones less slippy than the silver/gold tips
@@sarahpreston4104 they feel the same. The only difference is that the red hooks are easier on the eyes
Happy birthday month to you! It’s mine as well!! 🎉😊
I want this set and the red set
I do have a set of Clover Amour, and I love them so much. I’ve been tempted to buy the Etimo Rose set because they’re my favorite color: but the Clovers are just so perfect, I’m afraid I’d be wasting my money on Etimo Rose hooks because I’d just want to use my Clovers anyway.
Can't blame you there! I really love Amour hooks too, but Tulips just seemed to click a little more for me. You could always get one of the Rose hooks to try them out!
You are so funny, I get a kick out of that😀
Take the tassel cover off!
Happy birthday month! 🎉
The blue steel set is like the black set bag/holder
I was thinking it looked the same! I never crochet with hooks that small so I don't have that set yet.
Hi, thank you for sharing this. Did you ever consider Clover amour? I am so happy with these hooks, I have bought one Tulip for testing and like Clover better.
I have the red ones and I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee them did I say I lovvvvveee them lol
Please, could you tell me what is the length measurement for the tulip hooks from start of handle to the tip of hook, and from the start of the hook from handle to the tip / hook part, think i'm talking about the shaft i need to know how long they are, thinking about buying some.
I love the pink! Love the look of case….but I can’t get the hooks in and out without struggle. I am so disappointed…..has anyone else had that issue?
Do the pink ones have the letter on them? The black has # and letter.
Do these hooks have the rubber like feel to the handle like most crochet hooks? Since my carpel tunnel surgery I can’t use the hooks with that type of handle. Thank you for this video. 🐭
Can you give out the blanket pattern that you showed?
I love, and have, the red, the pink and the grey, tulip are my favorites. I'll like to have the dark blue, but exist only in a kit ... to expansive.... and i need only some. I follow "lidia crochet tricot". She use only those tulip hooks.
Then have a channel give away🎉❤! Share with some who would love them!😊
The gold hook change in color is present, but not offensive. If silver came through with use it would be unfortunate.
Does anyone have an opinion on the Clover hooks vs Tulip. Thank you for the review.
I have both hooks. I prefer the tulip because I don’t like the plastic hooks when crocheting with acrylic yarn. It squeaks. But the Clover hooks come in larger sizes for the larger yarn, which is why i invested in them.
Happy birthday. What brand is the black and gold set.
Thank you :) They're also Tulip Etimo, like the Rose set, just a different color!
I have had the pink set about a year and yes the the handles discolor. But still I love these hooks. I found the clover hooks do the same thing. So I may get the gray ones now😆😊
I only use tulip hooks 👍
Clover and Tulip are all made in Japan. Are they made by the same company? Clover stitch markers are so superior to the usual plastic ones and their bent needles are also superior products that make crochet much more enjoyable especially for amigurumi. I know exactly what you are going through with the pink ones. Drool.
Lol anything you handle for hours is gonna get grungy and has to be cleaned.....
You are so right. The pink is lovely. I have the black and gold said, and I really love the rollup get it comes in. I also have a couple of the red and several of the pink. I like them all, but I have to admit that the pinkdo kind of make me happy.😊
