I think that was very generous of Terry and it seems like he put a good deal of work into the tool but the design is terrible with all the different collets (should have been a cone shaped spindle), and there is no need for all of the bearings which are producing far too much friction. Also, when you gave it a spin it's clear that the hub is not concentric.
Nice blade balancer. Just to correct one point, which I'm sure you know and just misspoke at 5:15 _(or at least you seem to have misspoke with where you were pointing)_ . As to balance a blade, you have to grind/remove-metal from the heavy end, not the light end.
Dear Sir. I`m a danish DIY person. I have just seen your video, and thank you very much. You mentioned ``TERRY`` who has made you a blade balancer. I would like making one myself. Do you know if Terry has made a video how he made this. All the best from Niels
It has too much friction to be very accurate. Plus, it has a wobble when you spun it up fast, so that will affect the measurement for blade being bent. Back to the drawing board
Yes but a crankshaft does not spin true, but a big cast weight on the front looks uneven, but still balances the crank for anywhere from 5000 to 8000 rpm.
@@lyndonmansell351 no way no sir I would not trust it's. And I know a lawn mower engine only spins around 3600 RPMs. And even at that rate you going to throw a bearing
Not sure if you just misspoke if you are Misinformed, but you grind off the side that comes down. The more material you grind off, it will return upward making it balanced.
With all those toys you really need to start filming. Or if your on the KC side you can just let me come over and play in your shop. And great first name, I've got one just like it.
Really well done it looks just like the pro balancers other than they use a cone rather than bushings for the different size blade holes frankly I would be hard pressed to tell the difference excellent work!
Thanks for the nice video explaining how great Terry is and what he can do. Can you make a video explaining how to balance a lawnmower blade please? I count about 20-30 seconds of it in this video, surrounded by the rest Terry.
I mailed the balancer I built out to you today, Priority Mail. It will be at your address Monday. Thanks for always commenting and being a great subscriber. Happy you can use it. Enjoy DW6
doublewide6 Thank you! Looking forward to getting it. You're welcome. Thanks for such an awesome youtube channel. I've learned a lot from it over the years.
thanks for sharing the video! Kudos to you and Terry. The size bushing are cool. Wish I had the skills of a machinist. My brother in TX a machinist, and I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum. Just have one question. Around the 5:20 mark you show an unbalanced blade, make a comment about the heavy side going down but then point to the upper end of the blade which is the lighter end and stated that you'd have to grind more off that side. Is that what you intended to indicate?
I designed the original blade balancer out of wood, ball bearings, and magnets. I made a video of how nice it works. See Link ua-cam.com/video/_ShEsqE4ooU/v-deo.html The video shows how to use it and build the device. Terry watched the original video and took my design and created it out of metal using a metal lathe. He was also generous enough to make one for me. What a great guy!

good one, good for small home wind turbines
Great job Terry!
Every one needs a Terry 🙌🏽

How do i get one of these, balancers
We're can u get this balancer
Does anybody else see the wobble in that metal as he spins it 4:30 mark

It's a great bit of kit and very well made. Subscribers are great.
Thanks
Some subscribers take their following seriously. It makes it really nice to share videos with them especially.
Looks like a very fine piece that will stand the test of time. Terry is a good person...
You got that right. Thanks

Any time you have a machinist make you something. Chances are the item is first rate. Nice video too.
Wow thanks for the compliments Bob. Great video. I'll call you later. Thanks again Terry

+MidwestMotoRider Thank You
+Terry Keith are you around KC
Yep. I live in Buckner if you know where that is. It's just east of Independence.

Now to see if I can hit somewhere in-between the wood, and the pro tool one.
You see we do have some great people in America
There are more than people realize. The media just shows the troubled ones
Yes we do.
Well that is a great work and skill to make that .
I agree a job well done.
TERRY is there a way I can purchase this balancer shown in the video?
A true craftsman no doubt.
Terry is a cool dude, and he even makes some kick ass BBQ sauce! Very nice of him to build that balancer for you!
Thanks Adam. Your build turned out great
I Agree. Terry mentioned he was pretty big into the whole BBQ circuit. Now that is my type of job.
@Terry can you make me something like this
Terry LaRotonda can u make me something like this and I pay you
I turn pens also. It's rather addicting. Great job talented Terry! Thanks for making the video dw6! I've got dibs on the wood one. lol.
send me your address in a pm and I will get it in the mail to you. Thanks
doublewide6 You would do that? That's awesome. Thanks doublewide6!!! I'll get a lot of use out of it. I really appreciate it.

I caught that as well. At 5:23, he indicates the light side of the blade to remove material from, instead of the heavy side on the bottom.
Where can we purchase this????
I would like to purchase this balancer but when I click the link I get taken to an Oregon balancer. Is there an updated link to purchase this?
LOOKS LIKE DUBIEWIDE6? CAN GET IT FOR YOU
Great video. Thanks to both of you. Any chance of posting drawings if Terry made them before building the balancer?
Very cool.
Thanks for commenting. I saw you got a sponsor congratulations!
Great stuff.
Thanks
I think he is dead by now sad i would love to own 1
It has a bit a wobble in it.
What is the chance you would send me information to pay the machinist for a balance tool for me ??? Hope to hear from you soon. Nice video too.
wow that's so cool
there is still good folks, nothing like all american
Why isnt Terry selling these? its either a $4 piece of crap cone balancer or an $85 balancer. absolutely NOTHING in between.
das Ding Taugt nichts ... die Lager bremsen zu stark
Outstanding! Too bad there isn't a love thumb.
Thank you
I hear that! Thanks for commenting.
Nice, would love to see a video of it actually balancing a blade showing where and how you grind off the the heavy end.
I'm sure Bob will probably post one in the future. He is a very accommodating person and informative.
