    Another thing that's made my life learning Japanese so much easier is learning Kanji radicals. People keep telling me it's useless to learn then, but I can at least memorize a new Kanji so much easier than before I learned the small amount of radicals I know that consists of the ones marked as important on Kanji alive.

    • @ToKiniAndy
      @ToKiniAndy  3 роки тому +8

      Who ever is telling you it's useless definitely does not know what they are talking about. Even Japanese people learn kanji through radicals. It makes life SOOOO much easier.

  • @mikestorm5

    One of the things I like best about your approach to verb conjugation is you group the conjugations by verbs and not the other way around, which is how most other resources teach conjugation. For example, other learning resources might exclusively focus on the volitional form and give a bunch of u/ru verbs to illustrate. I find the challenge with that approach is the conjugations are essentially now compartmentalized in my brain, which is not an efficient means of recall. When trying to figure out the proper tense, I first recall the dictionary form and THEN try to conjugate it, but if I learn the conjugations in isolation, recall (for me anyway) is less efficient. In this approach, all conjugations are related to the dictionary form of the verb, making recall a bit more efficient.

    I have encountered a great deal of difficulty in verb conjugation. Most textbooks designed for foreign learners force us to start by learning the polite masu form of verbs. As far as I can tell, plain form is the base for verb conjugation. Without further saying, you know I fail miserably in transforming masu form to te form, ta form, volitional form and nai form. I feel like I have not learnt anything before. I have determined to start all over again. Your videos give me great hope. Thanks, Sensei.

    Excellent video, which I learned a lot from and got me thinking.
    There were a couple more conjugations (just that I was immediately aware of) て form (飲んで) and past (飲んだ). Tokini Andy covers them both in separate videos (Genki 1 lesson 6 and Genki 1 lesson 9).
    There are many more verb conjugations, and if you want to make your head spin, you can search (japanese verb conjugator) in your favorite search engine.
