I made some lifelong friends on the AT and you were the first one of them! My journey would not have been the same without you. Totes emosh watching this! You've done such a great job on the documentary, i'm so proud of you! Love always (never Barneys) Togs xx
Awesome. The inspiration your tramily portrayed in absolutely contagious. May you all be blessed in your live's. You all have a spirit that's motivating me in doing the AT. Thank you for the excellent cinematography. You rock "Frozen"...
Perfect. I stopped watching TV since April 2018 and no intentions to watch TV ... not in this life. 58 and retired since April 30, 2020. Waiting for 401K in Jan 2022 and Social Security in July 2024. Just enjoying my new life.
I hiked end to end in 1973. I was the 73rd person to have done the trail end to end. I can’t tell you how much I appreciated your descriptions and feelings of hiking the AT end to end. What a wonderful documentary, thank you.
You are a much bigger badass than me. 70's thru hiking was a lot different than todays thru hike. Gear has gotten incredibly lighter over the years and by the end I was struggling with knee pain. Thanks for watching and congrats yourself!
The man who finished this hike was not the same man who started in Georgia. You made your own vision quest, and changed your life. Thank you for sharing your story Jason
I am 61, female from flat Florida. DId the Camino De Santiago at 55, 500 miles in 34 days. Over 4 mountain ranges including the Pyrenees. Incredible experience. Now thinking of the AT.
Wow! I so respect and admire you 👌 I started hiking about a year and a half ago at age 68.5...living in north NJ there are plenty of trails here and in northern NY. I am in good health but prone to being sedentary except on days when scheduled for my easy or moderate hikes. I wonder if with training and practice I can improve my balance as well as leg strength enough to do the AT? Or should I leave that for my next life...LoL! When do you plan to do yours?
@@Reincarnation111 Do it...just go...It is not a race or who is better than who. Amzaing experience. I saw people who were blind, had strokes and one 91 year old on his 3 Camino. I saw a son and his mom doing it...just a great experience. You will meet many people from all walks of life. I wish you the best.
Sir , you are a total LEGEND 😁😁😁😁 I'm a British army veteran and am still battling wounds from Iraq . Seeing your grit and determination fills me with pride . Ignore the haters brother and just do YOU xx Much love and respect from your friends in Wales UK Ritchie and Raven x
Jason my girlfriend and I sat on the couch in comfort and shared with you in your journey from.start to finish. Your video helped to remind me that in addition to the physical and financial preparation to making the thru-hike is the all-important mental preparation. Thank you for putting this video together and sharing it with all of us. Ralph Waldo Emerson said once "The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to it's original dimensions." You have been changed for the better. I hope to make that same trek in 2026.
Jason, my husband is 90 and I am 79. We were drawn into your story and fantastic video so much that we began to feel that we knew you, as if you were like a son, or grandson. Our hearts reached out to you as we witnessed your struggles, wanting you to be victorious. We believe that God who created all that beauty was moving in your heart revealing His personal care to you. It was a joy to see your great smiles, and the fantastic close at the top of Mount Katahdin with your sweetheart. I lived in Medway, Maine, and often went to Baxter State Park at the foot of Mount Katahdin. The beauty is breathtaking. May you open your heart to the Lord who loves you, and discover a peace that passes all understanding.
I have made it half way 5 times but never got to finish it and never will now that I'm in a wheelchair. I can't believe I will never walk another step..so seeing Jason home it made feel like I was there the whole time.. tail name KIDD
@@ColemanCanna I hate to hear about your loss of your legs Harold...I am struggling to get around, but still want to take an adventure or two before I cash 8n my chips. My BIL Rich has become mostly bed/chair ridden from a stroke andvis only 62. :( So I can relate to your situation... but the body still wants to go on, day after day...so please try to find your joy in whatever ways you can! I hope to find and join some new friends that are partaking in the Applilation trail... hopefully I'll find some fellow semi- handicapped, slow movers who I could join up with!
@@jeffreebailey1897 could I give you my email ..maybe we could keep in touch and see what the future holds .. I would love to be up in the mountains again..well more than I already am ..I live up in Virginia in the foot hills
As a soldier stationed in a desert this is a great reminder for home for me, I miss the mountains of charolletesville and Lynchburg hiking in those areas with my dad, I made the decision to hike the trail after Im out
Definitely do it. Make it step 1 when you get your walking papers. I had always planned on the same and wasn’t able to (wife was pregnant when I ets’d, needed to find a job and housing pronto) and I’m still sitting here reading books and watching other people’s hikes 7 years later. Do it while you can, and there’s no better time than right after an ETS.
@Clark S. Kent I'm really not sure why you singled my comment out. I thank you as well for your service to our country and my freedom. I'm fully prepared at anytime to defend myself, my family, my home/property, and know my neighbors well. I have zero problem, should my fellow man need me to stand in a time of need. I wish you peace.
I'm almost 70, I live in the woods in my van and tent. I enjoyed watching this so much, I've heard about this trail for years, I'm blessed with health enough to try this trail, but I would have to wait till mid summer because I'm cold natured. I traveled with him by watching him, thanks so much for posting this.
hi joseph nice to meet you i also enjoyed that adventure with him im 73 and my husband passed away last year due to ramsey hunt syndrome in my mind i took every step with the young man best wishes from australia
I am a retired nurse, 71 years old and disabled. When I was younger I loved to walk for miles and explore. I never got to hike the AP trail. But I can experience it through you. Thank you so much!!!
I have wanted to hike the at for years now at 48 I ht a major stroke so now 3.5,yrs later I am getting close to walking and the idea is rekindling. You are so inspiring.
Sitting here during 'Stay at home' orders in South Carolina. And for the last hour and 41 minutes I just took an amazing journey. Watched several videos on the AT but you took me on a journey. I hope what you found out about yourself stays with you the rest of your life and thank you for sharing your travels with the world.
@@dannycasey7306 like you did in your video when you hiked the trail? Oh that's right, you've never hiked any farther then the parking lot to the mall and you call him a pussy, that would be you for making a stupid comment! You are a troll and you should come up with a better comment and stop using the same lame one over and over. Smh
Came across this video after just finishing my AT Through Hike (16 Feb - 18 Jul 2023). Brought back tons of good and bad memories. Been home just over a week and I miss the AT. Never thought I would say that.
@@martbau25 It was all good. Yes, some days suck but the majority rocked. Made some friends and have great memories. Good luck on your hike. Two suggestions if I may - train hard and spend the money and go with as much lightweight gear as you can.
@@martbau25 you have to hike. If you don’t have near by mountains, get on a thread mill, elevate it as high as it goes and walk for several hours. I averaged 2 miles an hour until I reached The Whites, where my mileage went to 8-10mile days. I wish I had trained longer but I had only 4-months
As someone who’s suffered from depression, and found spirituality and myself in the woods and on hikes, this hit home. You’re doing something so positive, and so inspiring. I wish you nothing but the best. Thank you so much for sharing your journey.
Hey, man! Have the trails helped you with your depression? I'm kind of at the bottom here, and I'm really feeling this call of life to get into the woods.
This video is what inspired me to plan my AT thru hike! I am a 38 yr old combat veteran that’s just lost in life and needs to get grounded. So I am currently preparing for a thru hike either next year or the year after. I also saw brief parts of the AT recently on a trip to Virginia and when I saw the landscape I knew 100% I wanted to hike the AT.
You began the journey heavy and laden with intensity and your depression. You ended it whooping at every beautiful site, being open and loving with everyone around you, and free or worries. What an amazing journey. Congrats!
This truly made me cry several times. I know it's been some time since you posted and I hope you are now married and continuing to live in every moment. I think that is what the trail truly teaches you. That every moment holds it's blessing. We just need to be present for it and see it for what it is. Bless you and thank you for sharing your journey.
As someone who struggles with depression, I salute you! It takes great strength to get up and do something about it, and even more strength to share your journey. Over the past few years your channel has inspired me and given me the knowledge I needed to get into backcountry camping and overcome my fears that I did not have the experience needed to get out there! And for that I will forever be grateful. There is nothing like the healing powers of nature. THANK YOU!
I'm glad you found the outdoors! Depression is super hard, I had always thought it was just people being lazy and then it hit me. Goodluck and keep up the fight. You have the power to change everything!
Melanie D I can agree with you, there really is nothing like the healing of nature. I have to get over my fears of being alone and take the chance of doing a similar journey.
As a former sobo who hiked the entire A.T. in 2016, it felt so sweet to live through another hiker’s journey going northbound to Maine. Thank you and congratulations!
I'm so proud of you man, that was an OUTSTANDING documentary of your experience on the trail. I suffer from depression and anxiety to the point where I haven't been able to hold a job. I am an alcoholic and addict in recovery and have been sober and clean for over 3 years but I can't get over the depression. My dad died last summer and we hiked pieces of the Appalachian trail and it was always a dream of ours to hike the whole trail. I want to do it now in his honor. I've got to do something because I'm going crazy. Your video has been a huge inspiration and has made my day, hopefully it will change my life. Thank you and I hope you're doing well.
Hey man. I relate to this so hard. I have depression, anxiety, and just been diagnosed with severe ADHD and I had to leave my job as a doctor, now I can't hold down anything. I became addicted to opioids after I had to give up my dream job (clean 2 years), and my sister developed MS and became unable to leave the house. Then my grandmother died (I lived with her when I was younger.) She always took me on long walks, and still walked her dog for lengthy walks until she passed. Life is passing me by. I intentionally shut myself off from it when it became too painful, and now I don't know how to re-open that door. But we are not alone, and we can find comfort in knowing others understand us, even if we don't fully understand ourselves ❤️ I live in the UK. I can't easily walk the AT or PCT, but I can't stop dreaming about it (PCT has been my dream for a really long time, as it's so foreign to the terrain we have here in the UK, and I can probably only manage to fund one of the two in my life.. but either would be phenomenal for sure.) I think I'm going to have to do it. I relate to that John Muir quote so much - "the mountains are calling and I must go". I MUST go. In the meantime there are both long distance trails, and isolated wild trails, in the UK (often they are one or the other) - the South West Coastal Path is over 800 miles, the Cape Wrath Trail in Scotland is much shorter but extremely wild and isolated, there is the Pennine Way and the Welsh Coastal Path and Offa's Dyke and many more. I had barely hiked 5 miles in a day, and never been on multi-day hikes when the PCT started calling to me. I don't honestly know why I suddenly started craving it when I had so little outdoor experience, it was bizarre! But now, I love hiking and camping more than anything else. It's the only time I feel okay. I don't get out much due to anxiety, but whenever I do, I can feel the clouds lifting, at least a tiny bit. So I've started small - I did a 6 mile day, then a 12 mile day, then I started camping and hiking for a couple of days. I had so many blisters and was so sore at first! I also started trail running, which is really good for my overheated ADHD brain, and for my anxiety. I love just being outside and in nature. I love the British countryside, especially the coastal areas such as Cornwall and Pembrokeshire Coast Path, and more rugged area such as Snowdonia, the Pennines and Scotland. But still the PCT calls me. Nothing has come close to the pull it has on me. I'm going to have to do it. I have very little savings but I do have items I can sell. I can't work full time, but I'm looking into part time jobs I can do from home, such as medical transcription (I know medical terminology from my brief medical career before the depression and anxiety really hit me.) And I'm about to start medication for previously undiagnosed ADHD, which I'm hoping will help me get on top of things and earn/save enough so I can finally realise my dream. As an international hiker it is so much more expensive and complicated, and I will only get one shot at it which adds a ton of stress, but I have to try! I wish you nothing but the best and I hope you realise your dream, and have an amazing hike! Maybe you have already started, or are planning for next year? If not, I will gently encourage you to begin. If not now, when? ❤️❤️❤️ This too shall pass ❤️
This was probably the best documentary I have seen in a very long time. As an amateur hiker, thinking I was pretty good, I see what a true hiker is. You had me in tears, cheering for you and grateful for this video. Thank you for sharing your journey. 💖
I watched your hike, and I cried a lot as you did what I only wished I'd done in my younger years as I live in sight of the trail, all my life, but watching you has given me hope that I may live thru this covid-19 that I've had for weeks. May god bless you Jason and christy
I went in this video only having the intention to watch five minutes. I sat here and thought, how could anyone within mental sanity could possibly watch a whole entire hour and 40 minute video about walking? This was one of the most intriguing videos I’ve ever watched. I’m only fourteen, but I hope to do something to this mental extent in my life sometime.
Just hadta say that With the kind of momentum & intelligence you appear to have you will achieve your goals & you will be so thankful you took the Journey! Good luck & many blessings Eddie 💜🫂🎒📓🥾⛰️🧗♀️🌄⛺🏞️
I have watched many videos of people doing the AT. I find it very interesting. Your video is different. I could see the change happening in you as this video progressed. I could see it in your eyes, and I could hear it in your voice and words. I have been inspired by many other videos, but the way you told your story is on another level. Thank you for sharing, thank you for showing that the true strength in this life is the resolve within yourself. I don't know that I will do the AT, I don't feel it calling me in the way that you did. But I will find that journey that once again illuminates the path I was once on but have since lost my way. Your story inspires me to keep looking for it....to have hope. Thank you.
Wow Jason, your opening moments really spoke to me. I lost my dad early in life & felt you shouldn’t put things off til later, but also your comments about disconnected from life, depression, standing still while life passed you by is absolutely how I feel. I work to exist & provide for my family but I don’t live. Your story spoke to me & I have to change. Thank you 🙏
Frozen, when Covid hit, I came across your story and was so inspired, I shared it with her that night and told her I wanted to hike the AT. It's been a couple of years since I saw your Journey of the Soul and now I am own AT journey for 2024. We watched it again Monday night and I'm more excited than ever. It will be a challenge at 70 years old, but I know your inspiration, shared lessons, and my determination will have me summiting Katahdin on my 71st birthday. Thank you and all the best on your future journeys. I know we will enjoy them vicariously with you.
This is one of the best things I've seen in over 10 years on UA-cam, and I really use YT a lot. Thank you for sharing, you are an inspiration and a role model. Cheers!
Watched this video because it was about AT. Finished because of your personality. Glad to see someone open up about being vulnerable. This is real! Everyone is battling something inside, and we often forget this. After all, we are all only human. Happy trails my friend.
What an absolute beautiful story, this was absolutely inspiring especially to one that is brand new to hiking. One day I will take on this challenge myself. Thank you for sharing your journey, it was awesome to witness the changes as you completed the journey.
what an incredible video. I’m so happy I came across it. Very moving and well put together, what’s also amazing is I was the Guy in Massachusetts with the Suburban who picked you Guys Up!!! I couldn’t believe what I was watching ! How crazy @Outdoor Adventures !! :) you were great people and my Little One Still talks about the time We picked up the smelly Hikers ! You guys were great Sal
I know you will probably never see this, but this video genuinely changed my life, it helped me get through a difficult time and made me strive for a dream that I still plan on making reality. Many years of waiting and planning I have finally graduated high school this year and by 2025 I hope to start the AT. Thank you for making this video of your journey! Much love and respect 🫡 ❤
Aspiring thru-hiker from Scotland here. Really appreciate your candour and insights here - and you've made a remarkable video of a remarkable journey. As a fellow depressive, I understood your motivation for embarking on this, and I have nothing but admiration for your attitude. Wishing you all the very best. Thanks, dude.
"Introverted, but likes to be included in conversations." Me, too. Loved the rock song piece in Pa. Rocks weren't as much of a pain as access to drinking water. Collecting rain water saved me a number of vertical feet to obtain drinking water. A tarp, poncho, or cheap, light painter's drop cloth will do. Bonus is no need to filter! +2 on Pierce Pond being one of the best camp areas on the AT. Maybe Cooper Brook in the HMW has it beat. Swimming hole is awesome. Thanks so much for stirring 30 years of section hiking memories. I still have from Atkins, Va. to the Ga./NC border to do. I'm 66 now, may not be able to do a thruhike, but would still like to try. Plan is to start at Springer next April, finish my section hikes, and, then, who knows? Masterful job on the video!!👍
We hiked south round from Harpers Ferry, our 1st long hike. We got slapped with an insane thunderstorm, and we had almost exhausted our water hiking up in the heat. I took our tent flap, and curled into the top of a water bottle. Most terrible tasting delicous water ever. Lol tent was fresh and had that chemically taste to it, but we still had a gr8 time. We made it to the northern end of NC b4 my partner sprained his ankle. This video is amazing and brings back so many wonderful memories.
Angel here, I hiked in 2019 too. Met my now husband (Bullfrog) on trail that year. Also met Lucky, Catmando, Doormat and Ironwill that year. This was very well put together. Thank you
Living in the UK and with the circumstances I find myself in, I can only dream of embarking on an adventure like this. Who knows though, maybe one day things will change and I will find myself walking in your footsteps. Never say never, right! Thanks so much for sharing your journey. It was inspiring. Congratulations too to you and Chrissy. I hope you enjoy a lifetime of happiness together. Just wanted to say thanks as well for the many informative videos' you've shared with regards to Hammock camping. Your hints and tips have taught me a great deal and I am now enjoying many a night suspended in happiness. Thanks again, from here in the UK.
I was on top of Mt. Washington on my fifteenth birthday during a vacation away from Pennsylvania. It was an extremely clear day. Seeing all of the hikers and those on bikes impacted me, and I had hoped to indulge in some of that in my lifetime. It never panned out. As I approach my sixty-eighth birthday, I feel that draw again, but my body says no. "Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans." I have no regrets; my life has been a different adventure full of lessons and discoveries. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Man first thanks for shearing this your great experience I’m kind of down today wondering how to take that first step like you did Packing my 🏍 almost ready go Thanks again for your inspiration 🙏🏻🥂 Leo

Not exaggerating this might be my favorite video on UA-cam. What a journey. I find this idea of hiking the AT fascinating. At 47, and I’ve got bad knees and a bad back and an 11 yr old at home so it’s not something I’ll probably ever attempt but it does capture my imagination. Bravo to everyone who puts it all out there on the line and tries this.
It's so obvious that the Trail changed you. It was heart warming to watch you start to light up, smile, and eventually laugh. Much respect, and congratulations!
Just watched this for the first time even though I have subscribed to your channel for a while. SO FREAKING GOOD! Hope you do something similar for the PCT. (And I am glad you got to deal with some of your demons!)
Looking forward to this. Did not get to see all of your episodes and was hoping you would make one complete documentary like this. Thanks for taking the time to put this together!!
I love the rawness of this! You let a lot of you out in the open and that is great. I cried with you, I smiled with you! I need one of these trips for my soul as well. I'm rotting inside at this desk.
I did a lash I spent years looking for something. I found it on the AT. I found something that made life more sense. I came home from my lash with plans to do a thru hike and spend the rest of my life working working to keep trails like this around. Three months after my lash I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. It progressed fast leaving me almost bedridden. I'm on medication now. My goal is to complete my thru hike. When I'm down and about to give up I watch this. It gives me hope.
In 2011 I kayaked down the Mississippi for many of the same sorts of reasons you took this journey. Your stories of trail magic and the challenges you faced brought back memories that are very special to me. Your story made me emotional because I also found my faith back in humanity through the random acts kindness I found along my way, I guess you would call it river magic. My journey changed me for the better as I'm sure this one did you .
I watched you on your entire jounrey that day you summited Katadin I was so ,so happy for you..You Frozen are one of the reasons why I held on tightly to my sanity ..Now I have hope that I can also take on my demons and begin my walking adventure ....April 1 ,2021 I'll be walking to Katadin...I can't wait ....Thanks once again for allowing all of us to walk with you ...
Paula, along with my girls, together we decided I would not hike the AT this tumultuous year. So I delayed a year. Ready. Will start in April 2021. Hope to see you out there!
This was really good. I feel like you really shared the experience. Really well edited.. the inflection on your face on the lonely days, and people just dont understand how amazing it is that 1st zero day when you get to go to town and stuff your face after days or weeks of dry food and ramen lol and the trail magic/Angel's were such a cool hospitality to experience firsthand. It really reminded me that good people do still exist in abundance. You're movie stoked a lot of great memories thank you
Thank you so much for sharing your journey. It was an absolute pleasure watching you grow, change and become exactly who you want to be. You are an inspiration.
I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed watching your journey. I recently lost my youngest son to an ATV accident and I’ve been hiking more & more. It’s the only place my mind can rest. Thank you.
The AT and the people who make that journey have always fascinated me. I was glued to every moment of your physical and mental journey. Congratulations on an amazing accomplishment. I wish you and Chrissy every happiness.
We as vloggers and hikers are happy to share and try to inspire hikers that haven't done a long thru hike to get outside and watch your own story unfold. Thanks for watching!
This has to be one of the better hiking documentaries I've watched. Thank you for sharing your amazing journey, all it's ups and downs, and a huge congrats on your massive accomplishment!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this-and I’m not a hiker! So much beauty in this documentary. You’ve really inspired me to push through a creative project I’m working on. 🗣I’m going to FINISH! Thank you 🙏🏾
It was spring, 1980,,, My BFF and I were being Honorably discharged from the US Navy,, we were 22, extremely fit, and set up a plan to do the trail, with 12 speed bikes,, YES,, there were NO mountain bikes yet, and we did not know how rough it was,, We never made it, he got mairried... it is now 41 years later, and I long for having at least tried,, but at 64, it is more a dream,, I want to thank you for your video and your accomplishment,, you brought memories I should have had, to life... keep on bikin!!
This was an amazing video to watch. I have dealt with depression my whole life so it was inspiring to see you opening up and talking about it. I want to do a thru hike and I have had my mind set on the PCT but I think you just helped me decide to do the AT. I really want to be happy and experience all that I have seen you and many others experience. I want that sense of peace and freedom. Inspired. Thank you for sharing your raw story.
The run-time on this is about 1:42:00 so grab yourself a snack and a drink! If you can't make the whole thing you will be able to watch it whenever you want after the premiere.
@@tannenherz When I couldn't get into BSP when camping up there (per my usual habit of not planning ahead and making reservations) I stayed at the campground on the right. I has the best view of Katahdin outside of the park. Great for sunrise and sunset pictures. Sunrise is behind Katahdin to the right and sunset is looking down the river to the left. I have many images of this view taken from the same spot (on Abol Bridge). The campground is called Abol Bridge Campground and it's popular with thru hikers before they enter the park.
Outdoor Adventures Great job, loved the premiere and thanks for taking the time to share your adventure. It has been life changing for me, it got me moving, changing my life in many ways and spending more time on the trail. 👍🏼
What an amazing accomplishment….I am a hiker also, my hikes are not as long as yours, I don’t have the balls to get into a hike like the one you are doing(or did already) I don’t trust people to do the right thing….I remember the movie “deliverance”….way too many crazies out there specially now after trump and the pandemic….good luck on finding “yourself” or better yet finding your soul…in my early days I also was looking for some meaning…I found none….I am very healthy….got a good 401k….I live in a million dollar + house in California…my kids all are doing fine…(in fact I have a son about the same age as you, he hikes like you…and I think he is also looking for his soul) I have a degree in behavioral science….I do not suffer from depression, with all of these things in my life finding some meaning should be easy the truth though is that we came from nothing to nothing we will go…we are no different than anything that is alive…like an ant…I hike for the exercise of it….enjoy your hiking!!!
I flip flopped in 2019. You and your tramily passed us in Pennsylvania. Y'all have just completed a 31 mile day. I summited Mount Katahdin with Lucky, Toggs and Perk. Great video! -Skninny kid
Finally got to watch this from start to finish. After following you throughout the entire journey the first time and the anticipation of waiting for your next video this was a great sum of it all. This deserves awards for the editing and storyline alone. This was a great adventure both times through and I'm so glad you shared it with us. Love you Frozen, look forward to the next adventure.
Excellent documentary about your journey! I've been following you since you only had a few hundred subs. Watching your videos has made get out and start going on my own adventures, and just because of that, I have lost over 65lbs and working on more! Thanks for all you do!
Adam Z Adventures like he said in this video, even through the hard times never quit, never give up. Congrats on you 65lbs. I lost 62, it’s a huge progress to get there 💪
At 69, I appreciate you taking us on your journey. The Appalachians are a treasure, to be sure. Amazing challenge and beautiful ending. Congratulations, she said yes! Thank you for the opportunity to see things I would never have seen, without you. Just thank you!!!
What a phenomenal video story!! Jason is so true with everything! The smiles of sheer joy, the love of his tramily and family, the raw emotions and then.... the shots of nature! Wow!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I don't think I have ever watched anything this inspiring or beautiful before. I'm a new hiker, fresh out of university, so the AT seems like a pipe dream for me right now, but I'm setting it as my long-term goal as something to work towards. Seeing your video has given me more hope than ever and I can't wait until the day that I can prove to myself and to others that anything is possible. Thank-you for giving me that belief and goal to work towards.
hiking and wild camping helped me beat depression i thought getting back from work and sitting in front of my pc and playing games was helping me forget but in fact it was making me more depressed but getting out there in nature and exploring made me really happy, i never watched movies i just play games then about 2 months ago i watched Everest based on the 1996 disaster and it was like a inspiration to me to get out there and start exploring the world so i set myself life goals to achieve something i had never done before, first it was to get into shape and climb a mountain and no im not unfit just because im a gamer and then it became to walk The Appalachian trail, i dont know if i can because im british and needing visas but its still there at the top of my goals and something im going to look into in the future thanks for the video dude really enjoyed it
That was an absolutely amazing video. Congratulations on your adventure. By documenting it like that, you are going to inspire many people to leave behind their demons and follow their dreams.
Great video! I thru-hiked in 2017 and still think about it every day! Sometimes I think the post trail period is tougher than the trail itself. Great that you showed the emotion of the journey. If I could ever do it again I would!
I made some lifelong friends on the AT and you were the first one of them! My journey would not have been the same without you. Totes emosh watching this! You've done such a great job on the documentary, i'm so proud of you! Love always (never Barneys) Togs xx
Thanks Togs!
Yay Togs! You're a blessing and inspiration! We were rooting for you guys too!!!
Awesome. The inspiration your tramily portrayed in absolutely contagious.
May you all be blessed in your live's.
You all have a spirit that's motivating me in doing the AT. Thank you for the excellent
cinematography. You rock "Frozen"...
Really enjoyed watching your story as well Togs! I hope you made it back safe and sound! Much love!
Ttttttooooggggssss
Don't really want to watch the news anymore. So this was an incredible find. Well done and thank you.

Thanks for watching!
I am 61, female from flat Florida. DId the Camino De Santiago at 55, 500 miles in 34 days. Over 4 mountain ranges including the Pyrenees. Incredible experience. Now thinking of the AT.
Good luck!
55,000 miles in 34 days? hmmmmmm yeah right covering 1,617 miles a day.
Do it.

Jason my girlfriend and I sat on the couch in comfort and shared with you in your journey from.start to finish. Your video helped to remind me that in addition to the physical and financial preparation to making the thru-hike is the all-important mental preparation. Thank you for putting this video together and sharing it with all of us. Ralph Waldo Emerson said once "The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to it's original dimensions." You have been changed for the better. I hope to make that same trek in 2026.
Thanks man glad you enjoyed.

For those of us who have never hiked the AT from end to end, this beautiful documentary made me “feel” every single mile. Thank you, Jason.

I have wanted to hike the at for years now at 48 I ht a major stroke so now 3.5,yrs later I am getting close to walking and the idea is rekindling. You are so inspiring.

Came across this video after just finishing my AT Through Hike (16 Feb - 18 Jul 2023). Brought back tons of good and bad memories. Been home just over a week and I miss the AT. Never thought I would say that.
Thinking of going for it this March. There are some good times on the trail right? It's not all misery is it?
@@martbau25 It was all good. Yes, some days suck but the majority rocked. Made some friends and have great memories. Good luck on your hike. Two suggestions if I may - train hard and spend the money and go with as much lightweight gear as you can.
@@chaosncheckt9356 For sure, what kind of training do you suggest.
@ Boxer mom , Nature's Healing Medicine THE Woods & Nature, it is the Heal All & Cure All ! ♥
Hey, man! Have the trails helped you with your depression? I'm kind of at the bottom here, and I'm really feeling this call of life to get into the woods.
Lifetimes of therapy was had in a couple days at places like Yosemite lol
Jesus can make you free of your depression! 🙏😊 He loves you!
Do it! It gives your brain a chance to reconcile.
This should win some kind of award, it is so good!
Thanks Frank!
Agreed
If you complete the whole trail you apparently get a plaque
Am lucky to find this beautiful video
You are free to go whenever you want lol
This video is what inspired me to plan my AT thru hike! I am a 38 yr old combat veteran that’s just lost in life and needs to get grounded. So I am currently preparing for a thru hike either next year or the year after. I also saw brief parts of the AT recently on a trip to Virginia and when I saw the landscape I knew 100% I wanted to hike the AT.
Go into the hike expecting nothing. You'll have a great time!
The only thing I expect is to hike :)
Did you do it???
You began the journey heavy and laden with intensity and your depression. You ended it whooping at every beautiful site, being open and loving with everyone around you, and free or worries. What an amazing journey. Congrats!
The girlfriend showing up to give you a good zero brought back some good memories.
A good and kind woman is a beautiful elixir to a wayworn mans soul.
This truly made me cry several times. I know it's been some time since you posted and I hope you are now married and continuing to live in every moment. I think that is what the trail truly teaches you. That every moment holds it's blessing. We just need to be present for it and see it for what it is. Bless you and thank you for sharing your journey.
Yes we are married now with a little one on the way. Always follow your dreams and thanks for watching.
I know what you mean, I suffered a stroke and then the depression followed. The wilderness gives me peace and contentment.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
But we are not alone, and we can find comfort in knowing others understand us, even if we don't fully understand ourselves ❤️
I live in the UK. I can't easily walk the AT or PCT, but I can't stop dreaming about it (PCT has been my dream for a really long time, as it's so foreign to the terrain we have here in the UK, and I can probably only manage to fund one of the two in my life.. but either would be phenomenal for sure.)
I think I'm going to have to do it.
This too shall pass ❤️

What's your trail name?
I watched your hike, and I cried a lot as you did what I only wished I'd done in my younger years as I live in sight of the trail, all my life, but watching you has given me hope that I may live thru this covid-19 that I've had for weeks. May god bless you Jason and christy
I went in this video only having the intention to watch five minutes. I sat here and thought, how could anyone within mental sanity could possibly watch a whole entire hour and 40 minute video about walking? This was one of the most intriguing videos I’ve ever watched. I’m only fourteen, but I hope to do something to this mental extent in my life sometime.

Thank you 🙏

Thanks!
Don't forget that grape vines also produce pure drinking water.

It's like reliving your dream all over again. All these clips are bringing back memories of your episodes!
High, you elect a very nice start-picture. Kindly Fiete
I just got started watching and can’t help but hit the like button already.
High, be glad. In our country it is impossible. Kindly Fiete
The BEST AT documentary/vlog I've ever seen. A lot of others just make it look like it's a continuous green tunnel and yours didn't. Congratulations!
I flip flopped in 2019. You and your tramily passed us in Pennsylvania. Y'all have just completed a 31 mile day.
I summited Mount Katahdin with Lucky, Toggs and Perk.
Great video!
-Skninny kid
Caleb Sowell I bet the people y’all meet put there have a special uniqueness that you couldn’t find anywhere else....
hey skinny kid! We were wondering about you! Good to hear from you! Lucky & Togs
what is interesting about vermud?
Incredibly happy for you you are a part of a small elite fraternity. Inspiring to even start thinking of trying this. Congratulations.
DeadC05 couldn’t agree more. Given the fact that he is the only person recording the journey the documentary is amazing and
Moving.
Excellent documentary about your journey! I've been following you since you only had a few hundred subs. Watching your videos has made get out and start going on my own adventures, and just because of that, I have lost over 65lbs and working on more! Thanks for all you do!
Good for you man!
Thank you so much!
What a phenomenal video story!! Jason is so true with everything! The smiles of sheer joy, the love of his tramily and family, the raw emotions and then.... the shots of nature! Wow!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
My wife and I watched every video you posted during your AT journey. This video was well done. Thank you for sharing your story with us.
Awesome! Thank you!
Watching this again, best documentary of a thru hike on UA-cam. Almost 800k views. Well done 👍
Thanks Greg! How is the fam? How's Otis doing?
I don't think I have ever watched anything this inspiring or beautiful before. I'm a new hiker, fresh out of university, so the AT seems like a pipe dream for me right now, but I'm setting it as my long-term goal as something to work towards. Seeing your video has given me more hope than ever and I can't wait until the day that I can prove to myself and to others that anything is possible. Thank-you for giving me that belief and goal to work towards.
hiking and wild camping helped me beat depression i thought getting back from work and sitting in front of my pc and playing games was helping me forget but in fact it was making me more depressed but getting out there in nature and exploring made me really happy, i never watched movies i just play games then about 2 months ago i watched Everest based on the 1996 disaster and it was like a inspiration to me to get out there and start exploring the world so i set myself life goals to achieve something i had never done before, first it was to get into shape and climb a mountain and no im not unfit just because im a gamer and then it became to walk The Appalachian trail, i dont know if i can because im british and needing visas but its still there at the top of my goals and something im going to look into in the future thanks for the video dude really enjoyed it
I can’t tell you how inspiring this video is. I crave this so much. I may be 48 but I will do this!!
That was an absolutely amazing video. Congratulations on your adventure. By documenting it like that, you are going to inspire many people to leave behind their demons and follow their dreams.
Couldn’t keep my eyes off the screen from start to finish! Well done and congrats on your engagement!!
So what does one do when they evacuate and or close an area down
In the smokies? All the shelters are near road crossings except I think one. They literally put you in a van and get you out.
Very inspiring. Everytime you smiled I felt it. What a blessing for you to have experienced this and thank you for documenting it.
Great video! I thru-hiked in 2017 and still think about it every day! Sometimes I think the post trail period is tougher than the trail itself. Great that you showed the emotion of the journey. If I could ever do it again I would!
