- This is my friends movie. He’s given me permission to post it.
This is a film by Dave Hauver, AKA Papa Razzi, documenting his 2005 thru hike from Georgia to Maine on the Appalachian Trail. Kudos to Papa for making this awesome memento of our hike while carrying a huge (by today’s standards) camera in an age before UA-cam, before GoPros, heck even before smartphones. I met him a few days in and we ended up hiking a good amount of the trail together (I’m Professor nutbag). I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Favourite YT documentary of the trail so far :)
One of the best AT documentaries I've ever seen!
Thank you for this gift. I am a 57 year-old man that can’t wait to be on the trail. I’m just a few years away and I’ll be making my way up to Springer Mountain. Peace.
Truly a life changing experience. I wish you the best of luck!
So cool this vid found me. I started at Springer 4/22/05. I remember hearing about some of the characters hiking ahead via grapevine and shelter registers. Def the best thing I’ve ever done.
Finished on 10/6/05, and found it really hard to readjust to normal life…
Thanks for documenting your hike.
Right on. Congrats! What was your Trail Name?

i love this guy!!! what an amazing video so carefully crafted with a generous heaping of appalachian personality as well!
Papa Razzi is certainly one of a kind. I’m so grateful to have met him and shared in this adventure. Glad you enjoyed it!
I did a week of backcountry hiking on the AT, but only inside of the Smoky Mountains National Park, and did that two years in a row 2002 and 2003. I need to get back out on the trail.
The stuff in NC/TN north of the Smokies is pretty sweet. If that’s close to home, i recommend the stretch from Erwin to Watauga Lake… Beauty Spot, Unaka, Roan Mtn, Carvers Gap, a bunch of balds, Laurel Gorge.
Great job! Wild to see all the 2005 gear.
Loved this! Thank you!!
I get a feeling that enjoying his life job way to much I’m never rong 🙃
Thanks for taking the time to film and putting it on UA-cam where we can all enjoy it. Doesn’t look like much is changed other than the tech. Gramps AT21.
Congrats on your thru hike!! I hope to still be able to hike when I’m a “senior”

I wholeheartedly agree! I’m glad it can be enjoyed by a wider audience now.
Really enjoyed this. Beautifully shot. Good pacing and great music!
Papa Razzi has excellent taste in music. Glad you enjoyed it!
@@bugnurddesigns5268 Where is Papa Razzi nowadays ?
@@jasonhildebrand1574 He’s well. When he’s not at a Bruce Springsteen concert in Sweden, we keep him sequestered in a secure, undisclosed location.
