We chose the Premium trim with the package 15 Forester. It came out less expensive than the Crosstrek. And we are very pleased with what we have. By far, the Forester is the way to go. We looked at the sport trim. For the money, you are better off wuth the premium trim. The package 15 is well worth it. You get the power Lift gate. And we love the Jasper green color. Our Forester now has 14,000 miles on it. No problems.
Agreed, pretty sure the 2021 Limted trim tested here will have the same engine as the mid level Forester also tested. Everything else is the same however..
If you get the right Subaru Forester with some models you get X-MODE® controls the engine output, transmission, AWD torque split and braking system to help tackle the trickiest Terrain. But I believe most people buying both of these vehicles will never take them off road I personally would do some minor off-roading like dirt roads and stuff like that I'm really fascinated to get into a little minor off-roading
I like the forester. And chosen to get the touring trim when I get it in the summer. I sat in the cross trek at a auto show and felt like it was not comfortable for a long road trip. When I test drove the forester I felt like I could drive long hours without stopping till of course I needed a break. I can’t wait to get my forester and start enjoying it.
I can tell u ur right, crosstrek for a 3 hr drive wasn't very comfy. Im considering trading it in for a forester for lumbar support and more cargo space

I’m trying to make this decision myself between these two! Ugh it’s so hard bc I love both. I like the looks of the crosstrek a tad better. I love everything the forester has to offer tho. Only thing holding me slightly back on the forester is that ugly orange/red accent all around the bottom of it!😐 on the inside it looks ok but the outside ugh.

Wish I got a Subaru sooner. Found a 2015 Subaru Forester xt Premium! Love having the last of the Turbo Forester's! It's funny seeing people underestimate Turbo Subarus. 😎 (purchase October 2023 had only 30k miles on it!) Got it so I can see more national parks with the kiddos! Get a Forrester you will be happy with the extra space.
I really like the approach of seeing what you can get for a comparable amount of money. I'm looking at used cars, and I'm finding your videos to be very helpful in evaluating choices. Personally, as a retiree who spends a lot of time on dirt and gravel roads with steep inclines/declines and ruts, I wish the Subarus had much better approach and departure angles. That rules out the Crosstrek in particular. If I bought a Forester, the first things I'd do would be to get it lifted and add rock rails anyway, along with getting serious all terrain tires.

well that's a first cause usually most people who look for a Subaru are wanting to buy the forester since crossovers are such a deep desire in america.
I had an old 2005 Impreza and LOVED it. Never drove the newer version OR the X-Trek. There are comparisons out there on YT which prefer the Impreza for its cheaper price, ride & handling (at least on dry pavement). It really just depends on if you plan on going off-road or heavy snow, where the X-Trek's raised suspension would shine.
Not a fair comparison. They are two great Suvs for different Targets. Both are great, still the Forestee is bigger and in most trims with bigger engine two. Forester is for a more family oriented buyer, the XV for small families, couples or single guys that want a little capable offroad Suv. Those are my two cents
I think the Subaru Forester blacked out rims look better but personally I probably wouldn't get them in white at all I'm just not a fan of white vehicles and I think the Subaru Forester looks more like an SUV and the Subaru Crosstrek looks more like a crossover
The Forester is clearly the winner since the Crosstrek is too expensive for what you get. The Crosstrek should be about $25,000. I want to see a salom test and 0 to 60.
@@Mattofthesharpe I initially considered Crosstrek for fuel economy and light towing. Drove the 2.0 and couldn't justify sluggish engine tune enough to buy. Makes my 148hp Mazda feel like a rocket. The CVT Crosstrek feels disconnected and numb. When I learned the 2.5 would be CVT only I ordered a Tacoma. Subaru has a demographic in mind for the Crosstrek that does not include enthusiasts. I'd consider it, or an Impreza Sport, as a second vehicle if I could get an aftermarket tune to wake the engine up a bit.
Crosstrek Sport and Limited now have the 2.5l engine like the Forester. Don't understand why they eliminated the Forester XT models like before and on Outback/Ascent with 260 hp. Current Sport models or both would be a closer comparison.
buyer beware on this crosstrek, I don't k now about the forester.. but the 2020 crosstrek I purchased this year I wish I had taken it out on the highway before buying. this car has really bad highway driving stability. I am constantly adjusting the steering to keep it in a straight lane. it isn't a pulling or alignment issue, I've had it into service several times and they say it's just the way the car is designed. and don't get me started on a windy day, it's white knuckle driving with this crosstrek, I choose to drive my cheap 2012 jetta s when going on the highway in windy conditions. this crosstrek requires constant adjusting to keep it in a lane.. just make sure you are ok with how it handles on the highway before buying
Forester profile is downright frumpy and bordering on ugly...and I tend to love wagons!😂 Having said that, it is the better choice vs the Crosstrek if cargo room is really important...as in you have more than one kiddo or lots of camping gear for a longer than weekend outing.
31k for AWD, adaptive cruise control that auto steers on highways, automatic crash mitigation, reverse auto breaking, blind spot monitoring, sun roof, integrated roof rails, and probably more stuff is definitely a good deal. there are many SUV's in that price range that don't come with AWD and autosteer
If you want to save a few $K and don't need big wheels and the ground clearance, the Impreza hatchback is a bargain. Its 100% the same as the Crosstrek.
Get the entry level crosstrek with a stick shift and pocket the cash savings. The infotainment system is 50% or more useless (seriously, waze is better than any guidance system) on either model. Most of these features are just purchase bait. All that really matters is what is under the hood and who is driving it.
I just simply don’t understand why they have the forester in that sporty look and the crosstrek looking like a nice little rally car and yet they put the turbo XT in a fudgein wagon. Like hey I do t need my crosstrek to be so fast but It shouldn’t be so slow either. And the forester looks great in that sporty trim but wtf with those slow engines like get it together already. It’s bad enough your entire lineup consists of cvt!! SMH Subaru what are you doing

I prefer the looks of the Crosstrek, but the family doesn’t fit. We’re currently cross-shopping the Forester and Outback. Outback if we go XT. Forester if we decide to go cheaper with better fuel economy.

It's a good thing you got that one you did I think the Jasper green color has since been discontinued.
If you want a lifted Impreza hatchback, get the Crosstrek. If you want more room and better options, get the Forester.

How concerned should I be about the thermo valve control defects? My car is out of warranty in November! I have a 2020 forester with 40k on it.

So it has really a price advantage over the Forester!
