      Yes, I do. Using my Philips 279M1RV 4K with MacBook Pro 2021 running 120HZ though USB-C with 65 watt charging, with only single cable. Much less eye strain with long hours (10+) coding and productivity tasks. Plus some gaming on the side with Xbox. Philips monitor is generally elegant design, without gaming aesthetic. It’s the best of both world, gaming + productivity, and color correct at the same time. Looks like Eve spectrum 4K and Philips 279M1RV using the same LG Nano IPS panel.

    I find that when I edit audio in Adobe Audition for my voice overs, using my ASUS VG279Q 144Hz monitor with my M1 Pro makes micro adjustments easier to make and I respond to them slightly faster. The smoothness makes me feel in more control and thus more confident in my movements. This is essentially the same advantage that you get in gaming, but for work. High refresh rate isn't just for games and I don't think anyone who says so has really used one or work in just text editing. This is also useful for video editing and the high refresh rates makes one slightly faster at these smaller movements that add up tremendously over time.
    I keep my M1 Pro 14-inch on my desk and the Asus high-up. The difference in sharpness is of no issue to me, the monitor's colours are some of the best among gaming monitors (good enough for some colour work) and I'd much rather have high refresh rate vs high resolution. High refresh rate is much more noticeable in usage than high resolution.

    I have a MSI 27 144hz inch gaming monitor. It’s an absolute game changer for my work laptop. Work laptop is fixed at 60hz plus the obvious 14 inch screen makes it more difficult to work with multiple desktops. With the high refresh rate monitor, things get smooth and exciting to work.
    One thing i have noticed is some laptops can’t push 144hz and my work laptop is set t 120hz monitor output where as my gaming laptop can output 144hz easy.

    I tried a high refresh rate monitor at the shop a couple weeks ago, and it's a game changer. It really feels different and so smooth. The main issue seems to be that if you want cooler accuracy you should buy the 60hz ones, and if you want high refresh rate the 90/144 ones. It's kind of a big dilemma, I don't know if I've seen a decent monitor with a decent price that has both. But the Eve with 1440p sounds like a good deal thanks for the tip!

    For productivity use, I tried a high Hz monitor. It was a bit smoother moving windows around, but otherwise I didn't really care. I value text quality, so I'm much more interested in the pixel density. IMO at 27", 5K 60 Hz > 4K 60 Hz >> QHD 165 Hz. However, I don't game at all on my computers. I'd consider 4K 144 Hz though.

  • @FoxxFire
    @FoxxFire 2 роки тому +3

    After using promotion on the iPad and iPhone, I agree that refresh rate is much more important than many Mac users, myself included, have understood. I just hadn't experienced it before. But using a 4k panel with a Mac isn't an optimal experience due to what needs to happen to scale the content to an acceptable size. And 2.5k just isn't sharp enough for me. And so for me personally, I'm waiting for a high refresh, 5k monitor from Apple, if those rumors do indeed come true. And paying more for a monitor is a good investment, IMO. For example, the only reason I still use my late 2015 5k iMac is that I don't want to part with the display, nor do i want to buy a studio display with similar specs -- it just seems like a waste to spend that much for a display that I basically already have with my iMac. So essentially, even though my computer itself is out of date and I want to upgrade, I'm stuck because the monitor option I really want, a high refresh, 5k, Apple-made monitor, just isn't here yet. I know it'll be pricey when it comes, but it'll be worth it. Most of us keep our displays and TVs far longer than we keep other tech. So an argument can be made that overspending on a monitor to kind of future proof yourself is smarter than doing the same with a computer. Anyway, this was an enjoyable, informative video. But i'm still on the lookout for the perfect monitor for a Mac. When that comes, then I will buy a new computer to go along with it.

    • @CreatedTech
      @CreatedTech  2 роки тому +4

      A 5K and 120Hz monitor would be awesome, but the problem is the amount of data that needs to be transmitted is astronomical. In this video I was doing 4K 144Hz and that is already over 40GB/s, which is about the maximum the thunderbolt ports on the MacBook can output. I think a display like that might be quite a few more years, unless Apple can figure something out.

    I did the same I got eh M32U for my M1 Max and it works amazingly well. The PC display industry is in a bad place right now. Most of the features you want at a decent price are in the gaming monitors, however if you want a nice professional monitor with the features you get on a gaming one you are looking at much higher prices and most of the time compromises. I was looking at the Dell U3223, not only does that monitor cost more than than the M32U but it also is only a 60hz panel. The M32U doesn't have the same level of color accuracy, but for my purposes its more than fine. The Apple Studio Display was a non-starter as its expensive and limited for my needs.

I need to make a lot more swipes of my mouse when using the Mac to cover the same distance on the screen (at least that's how it feels). I just want to have the same feeling as I do on my Windows PC, for example when playing games. Any ideas?

    I have an LG UltraGear 24GN600-B that can do up to 144hz, and I have both my base Macbook Air and my PS5 plugged into it
    It’s such an awesome experience being able to get 120fps/hz on both! Minecraft at 100-120fps from a Macbook Air is buzzy 💀

    I have a stigma that higher refresh rate displays have Low pixel densities. I’m sure that’s less true now than it was a few years ago, so I need to rethink that. I think it’s good to advertise refresh rate but more importantly pixel density. So a user can decide where they find the combinations optimal. A 180 ppi display that’s 120htz is nice but not as common.

    I had recently bought color pro Full HD monitor of View-sonic, later i have realised due to poor PPI & Refresh rate, it had horrible display quality only on mac, also faced a lot of flickering on monitor, eventually i had to return it back. Do i need to go for higher refresh rate monitor like a gaming one to get better contrast and no flickering for macbook air m1? will it be require to have minimum 4k monitor or will i have same issue on 2k monitor too.. please help me in choosing one, really in big trouble...

    as someone who edits a LOT of slow motion footage, having a high refresh rate monitor is super important when reviewing b-roll. Complete night and day when I need to watch those 120fps/120p videos. Honestly, if I edited normal shows and videos, I wouldn't have gotten my 165hz and 240hz monitors.

    I've recently been looking at the Dell 27" UltraSharp U2724DE.
    It's 1440p 120hz.
    The alternative model is U2723QE which is 4k 60hz.
    It sounds like you would recommend 120hz 1440p over 4k 60hz over all for programming on MacOS?

I have a question, I bought a Gigabyte M28U monitor for my PS5 and I also want to use this monitor as an extended display for my iMac M1, but when I tested it my display in Gigabyte was pinkish tints, it's like broken, I connected it via Type-c adapter then HDMI from the adapter to the monitor, do you have any solution for this? Thanks in advance!

    I just find it so weird that people don’t find high refresh more of a requirement. It must be that people haven’t tried it or something because I constantly hear “you don’t need high refresh for productivity tasks”. I edit a ton of video editing and I just can’t go back to lower refresh rates because it just is too slow and unresponsive.

    - variable 48-144hz
    - 144hz
    - 120hz
    - 60hz
    And I was wondering if it's better to set it to variable or full 144hz?

    Does having an external monitor for macbook air m2 anyhow help increase the gaming performance? I usually only play games that demands less gpu power like Dota 2 but i need the frames for competitive advantage, should I get Macbook air m2 for some casual gaming with an external monitor? Since gaming on the laptop itself is only giving around 60fps at best on dota 2 low settings.
