The little knob on the bottom is a leveler. To adjust the pump level. Brit's!!
All I had to do was read the instructions 😂
@@EverydayAquaristyou didn’t read the instructions? BRITS!!
Great video just bought one after watching this don’t see the point in scratching the filter the mark would bug me or scratch it in a place nobody’ can see
Great unboxing. I've not seen the anti vibration feature before. 👍
Cool little filter 👌
😊😊very nice video amazing cool unboxing and reviews
Glad you liked it
Thnx you so very much
Bought a shallow tank and the two hob I had just didn't fit so this will be perfect for my 22l shallow
Think the spacer disc is more to keep it level rather than to eliminate vibration.
Nice wee filter and good that it comes with the pre-filter sponge. Personally I prefer the Marina Slim range but both of them are transparent. Pretty cool till you start customising them. If you have some black, sponge, bit of green sponge and white filter floss it looks doesn't look so great. Also doesn't look too nice ones the media starts to gather waste. Not everyone is keen on staring at gunk in their filter the whole time.
Ah yeah makes sense. I like the clear to see what's going on but obviously not everyone ls tastes
I’ve got almost no bioload (caridina) in my heavy planted nano and even after 2 weeks the gunk build up is pretty gnarly on the included media
Nice 👍
will this HOB fit on a tank with black trim? or only a rimless tank? i feel like you'd need two of these for even a 5 gallon
I have this on my 5 gallon tank. I don’t use the filter media that comes with it. I used some Matrix media and some coral. I added the coral because I have Blue Dream Neocaridina in the tank along with my Betta. I replaced the pre filter with a better one to protect my shrimp. I have been using it for about 6 months. It does have to be cleaned about once a week. Also you want to keep your tank full or it doesn’t flow well.
Explain what's a better filter please! Thank you
@@FLMegan I am not sure what you are asking. Better than what? I just stated that I used this filter and I like it. I don’t like the cartridges because you use and toss them throwing out beneficial bacteria, so I just use Matrix media in the chamber and I could have used a sponge to filter the water. It is a nice small slow adjustable flow filter. I also use a similar HOB by Finnex that I like a little better only because the pump on the Finnex is a little more reliable. I have had to manual start the impeller spinning after I clean the Nicrew and I haven’t had to do that on the Finnex. For small tanks both are good HOB, but they have to be cleaned regularly as they are small. For bigger tanks I prefer canisters. I put a sponge prefilter on both the Nicrew and Finnex. I think they both came with one, but the Nicrew prefilter was a little loose and the shrimp could get under it so I bought a different one to use.
I have this on a 3g cube and when the water level is to the top, the flow goes completely under the water surface so there’s no surface agitation even on max flow… Which isn’t good for me since I need to offgas my organic co2 at night. And also surface biofilm buildup
@@BTQ410 I just bought this filter and within a week it stopped working, what do you mean by manual start the impeller? How do you do that so I can try that out.
@@ash1ee_2025 I take a long thin object like a wire, a skewer or your aquascaping tweezers and manually spin the impeller. It usually only takes a small push. Before you do that, be sure you pull the impeller out and clean it. Sometimes a piece of grit or something gets into the impeller area and stops it from spinning. I use my long aquascaping tweezers to also remove the impeller. The impellers get covered in slimy gunk and that will sometimes keep them from working or it can cause them to rattle. I have found that the Nicrew HOB almost always needs a bit of a push on the impeller to get it going again after cleaning. Finnex makes an almost identical HOB that does not have this issue. When I added another small tank, I went with the Finnex HOB because of the need to manually give the Nicrew help to get started.
very nice like 👍 4
Thank you! Cheers!
Bro. More tank video less advertise video. It has been do long since normal video. I want to see macro algae tank.
I'm not advertising I enjoy making review videos
This video was great and very helpful.
I have a question tho: Wich of the nano tank filters you know about has the weakest waterflow?
(I have a tank where I keep mainly invertabraters wich live in ponds. Most of them dont thrive or show naturalistic behavior when there is to much turbulence in the water.)
I also dont want a filter that uses cartridges wich produce waste.
Is there a filter you can recommend for a 40l tank?
