      @@SimplyAquascaping It looks amazing and the quality looks pretty decent but i agree with your review of it. I think some other companies will get some similar stuff on to the market and do very well at lower price points.
      Mini canisters with lilly pipes are the way to go these days. Nothing in the tank. I'd even like to see them get a heater into them as well.

      @@SimplyAquascaping It's precision machined stainless steel... so it's pretty pricy to make something like this, especially outside of Asia. My guess is that some Chinese company is probably going to produce a clone within a year that won't be built to quite to the same standard (I've seen one in person, the fit and finish were exquisite), but will be about 80% of the way there for half the price.

      For close to the same price or same price when on sale you could get an oase biomaster 250 or 350. Actually the 350 is on sale for 224 right now. The price on this uns canister is insane.

    • @traviscornett1963

      It’s absolutely absurd. Especially because if you can source a stainless container with a latching, sealing lid (which is easily done), you can make one of these for $60 max. And that’s with nice stainless fittings and good quality mini pump. I actually did this, just not THAT small since my smallest tank is 7 gallons.
      AND if you build two, it makes a BADASS continuous gravel vac. I use it all the time and it’s a game changer.

    Smaller the filter the less media, the more rubbish it is. This is a typical case of design over function. I find this thing pretentious.

    If it was priced anywhere in a range from 50-75 $(€) I would get it (maybe). It looks stylish and I love the minimalist design. I would never buy it at the current price. I am sure UNS will sell them and only time will tell how many pieces. Of course if I was given one as a present from UNS I wouldn't say no haha. Cheers and Merry Christmas.

      It’s this kind of pricing that make Chinese clones SO appealing. They could sell these for $60 a pop and still make massive profit.

    I saw one of these the other day at my local aquascaping store... they had it on a very small cube aquarium (with a few very tiny fish). It was an extremely striking design, and I immediately wanted one for my betta tank, but I also had to wonder how practical it was.

    I’m a big fan of how small it is. I’m curious though, so you think it could handle slightly larger tanks? I’m contemplating buying the UNS 5N and the specs for this filter say it can handle up to 2.6gal. Do you think it can handle larger tanks?
    Or, do you think maybe the 32oz filter would be fine with a smaller tank for a little bit more $?

    • @SimplyAquascaping
      @SimplyAquascaping  7 місяців тому +1

      I think the biggest difference would be the flow rate. The 32oz has an output of 55 gallons per hour, where the 6oz only does 15 gallons per hour.
      From how I've observed the 6oz filter I think that putting it on a 5N would be pushing it's limits. In my honest opinion if you're going to go any larger than 2 gallons I'd grab the 32oz canister. It's always better to over filter your tank than to under filter it in my opinion.

  • @chicanoaquatics143

    I saw this filter in person and I definitely want one ...tho price is steep. My concerns are the amount and size of threads. They are very tight and small, they seem susceptible to damaging/and cross threading. Also the longevity of the pump itself. But I hope to get one soon.
    Pro tip. Get a 50-60ml plastic syringe (with catheter tip) to start a siphon with them little hoses.

    • @SimplyAquascaping
      @SimplyAquascaping  9 місяців тому +2

      I think you'll have to treat it with care like glass lily pipes. I'm curious to see how it holds up over time. I'll definitely keep the syringe idea in mind if I have trouble starting it again.

      @SimplyAquascaping  9 місяців тому

      im using a oase filter smart 60 on my 60x30x30cm tank and its sat behind it on the same level and it works fine. ive seen green aqua do the same with a couple of their nano tanks. i think it depends on the canister filter. what could have made it easier is having a cap on the top where you can prefill the canister before starting it like the smart 60, or plug the outlets and prefill from the bottom when adding the media

    • @SimplyAquascaping
      @SimplyAquascaping  9 місяців тому +2
