  • The surge is top dog for professionals working in an industrial environment. It’s heavy duty pliers, outside accessible scissors and exchangeable diamond file are key. The small and large flatheads are ideal for working on controls projects and the awl is a key pro tool in my usage.
    It’s heavy and large but the trade offs are worth the performance.

    Can't have heavy duty without the heavy. A lot of these multi tools are basically toys. Toys will be found out rather quickly on sites.

      Amen. Didn't fully appreciate how much more capable real tools are until I had them more readily available instead of just making due with a multitool 70% of the time. That said I do beleive multitools have a place

    Well, I already have a black oxide, and now I'm going with the stainless steel. The Surge, that is, lol....

      @@EngineersPerspective701 Yep, the Surge is my #2 and for lighter duty instead of my knife, file, saw, axe, machete, etc. Cheers.

    Can the black oxide finished versions be used for medical (first aid) or food preparations just as cleanly and hygienically as the polished stainless versions?

      I believe so but I honestly can’t say for certain

      The surface rubs off with wear and use, so I wouldn't really recommend it. If you had to use it and you made sure it was clean and sterile, it shouldn't be a problem.

    I an considering Surge for hiking purposes since it is possible to replace the saw blade. What do you suggest? Thanks 😊

    • @EngineersPerspective701
      @EngineersPerspective701  3 роки тому +3

      Personally I think it’s a good camping tool, but not hiking because of its weight and general overkill for hiking activities. I’d prefer a Victorinox farmer, farmer X or trekker.
      But honestly I’m not huge into either mostly due to limited opportunity. But I’m working on that!
      If you do choose the surge I’d recommend you buy a Wave saw blade off of Etsy and use it to replace the serrated blade. It’ll be longer and you won’t have to keep track of the loose one

      Personally I’d rather have the Signal for wilderness use. The Surge lives in the bug out bag
