Amen. Didn't fully appreciate how much more capable real tools are until I had them more readily available instead of just making due with a multitool 70% of the time. That said I do beleive multitools have a place
@@dmam412 I was so close to buying the coyote version! What’s holding me back is it looses some of the key features I love while picking up others I already have in other tools
Can the black oxide finished versions be used for medical (first aid) or food preparations just as cleanly and hygienically as the polished stainless versions?
The surface rubs off with wear and use, so I wouldn't really recommend it. If you had to use it and you made sure it was clean and sterile, it shouldn't be a problem.
Personally I think it’s a good camping tool, but not hiking because of its weight and general overkill for hiking activities. I’d prefer a Victorinox farmer, farmer X or trekker. But honestly I’m not huge into either mostly due to limited opportunity. But I’m working on that! If you do choose the surge I’d recommend you buy a Wave saw blade off of Etsy and use it to replace the serrated blade. It’ll be longer and you won’t have to keep track of the loose one
I’m so sorry! After they’re discontinued too which is like a slap in the face. Surge and MUT are pretty different tools but both are great! Can’t go wrong.
@@EngineersPerspective701 thank you. I’m a rifle instructor and rebuild switch gear for a job so I just have to decide which of the trade offs is more important.
@@charlesmckinley29 Definitely need both then! Either way getting the bit kit may be invaluable for adjusting scope rings, etc. Although I'm sure you already have a nice set in the range bag.
Can't have heavy duty without the heavy. A lot of these multi tools are basically toys. Toys will be found out rather quickly on sites.

Tks for the Review, i love this tool
Same! It's what I grab when I need to get some work done
@@EngineersPerspective701 it is a beefy boy. Definitely a working mans tool.
Have you seen the ST300M?

@@EngineersPerspective701 fair enough. I like the additional tools I never use the saw

I believe so but I honestly can’t say for certain

I an considering Surge for hiking purposes since it is possible to replace the saw blade. What do you suggest? Thanks 😊

Personally I’d rather have the Signal for wilderness use. The Surge lives in the bug out bag
Rebar
The wave + is Queen 😅😅😅
St300
Rebar is queen for me haha I wish I could have the rebar plier head on the wave
What flashlight is that?
Streamlight microstream USB
@@EngineersPerspective701 Thank you
seems like your surge also rattles at the lock buttons
Sure does
Well, I already have a black oxide, and now I'm going with the stainless steel. The Surge, that is, lol....
1 is none, 2 is 1!
@@EngineersPerspective701 Yep, the Surge is my #2 and for lighter duty instead of my knife, file, saw, axe, machete, etc. Cheers.
Super Tool 300 all day
Hard to argue against the ST300 but the Surge is a beast too!
surge could be better by making all tools outside opening like the knife etc.
Very possible. It may loose part of what makes it so good too though
Yeah they should add an impact driver to it as well and a hydraulic lift.
Lost my juice after 15+ years of EDC. Surge or a MUT will be next.

Your charge doesn't have a way for you to tighten them yourself. I have the charge plus can tighten them yourself if need be
You can buy the wrench or just use water pump pliers like I do. Carefully I might add
