Milwaukee M12 Bandsaw vs. M12 Tubing Cutter for Cutting Copper: Does Quickest Mean Best?
Переглядів 1,9 тис.10 місяців тому
I do a VERY BASIC comparison of the speed and cut quality from Milwaukee’s M12 bandsaw, 2529-20, versus their M12 tubing cutter, 2471-20, using Type-L 3/4" copper pipe. Watch to see which is fastest and which provides the best cut quality. Do only hacks use a bandsaw? Is the tubing cutter way too niche of a tool? Which do you choose?

Milwaukee M12 Gen3 Impact Driver Use Update
I've been using the Surge for 5 years it's a tough Leatherman
I am a Spyderco fan boy. I recently sold all my other knives except my Spyderco's (made 7k, to give you an idea of how big my collection was). Of all my Spyderco's, the Native family are my favorites. I often EDC a Native 5, with a Lil' Native backup as my "I need to cut something and I don't want to scare anybody" knife, and a Shaman backup (serrated), as my heavy duty just-in-case knife. I recently ordered a Native Salt (serrated) in Magna cut, and I have a Native 5 Salt (plain edge) in Magna cut on pre-order.
More about Benchmade vs Spyderco. I have lost faith in B. I buy only S. now. I think it's mostly a hardness thing. ??
Yeah Spyderco really does to try and push the limit of factory heat treats. With higher hardness even on the more common high end steels like S30V, M390, etc vs Benchmade. Not to mention the less common steels they work with in sprints which is 75% of the Spydercos I own. High hardness and exotic steel a tasty combination!
Deburr attachment for the band saw ua-cam.com/video/Iyho2cgMTbM/v-deo.htmlsi=jZr4LmDATFtdliJh
I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews on it so I never tried it out. I think the kind with the hex shank for a drill/impact would be the ticket
Any reason why even the high end German knives use that soft steel?
Biggest reasons are 1) infrastructure is setup for it already. Supply chains, heat treat equipment, grinding equipment, etc. are all affected by change in steel. 2) it’s honestly MUCH better than the garbage most people have so it’s still perceived as a very high performance steel choice. There just isn’t pressure from the targeted consumers to change from this.
This tool should definitely be good for mechanics, and junkyard finds for projects
oh ya thats a crisp edge, im close to that but no cigar
Thanks! Keep at it brother!
Hey Bob Vila.................are you going to DRIVE any fasteners on your DRIVER review or just stand there and flap your jaws? WTF kind of tool review is this? Do you think your life experiences YOU are that interesting?
Excellent demonstration of the product’s effectiveness! Thanks and God bless!
Much appreciated! May you have a blessed day!
i need to get that knife and those diamond stones, looks dang nice
Highly recommended!
I just received this pan last week.....replacing a NON-stick type wok....made popcorn in it last night.......Results: perfect POP CORN and cleanup was easy!
lol... a year? looks like you just pulled it out of the box..after 2 days mine looked like it seen a bit of action. like the name started to wear off being in the bag it came in the bag
This is not just a review but a full on metallurgy/chemistry lesson - love it!
Absolutely the best S110V video on YT. This was extremely helpful. Thanks!
Glad you liked it! Really appreciate the comment
Definitely a glitch, if you read the fine print, it states max savings of 150$ per order. Can confirm it still works. Unfortunately they don’t have the 10” in stock and if I order I’m waiting 2+ weeks for it
K390 is my favorite. It takes a great edge. Its the only steel ive been able to get hair whittling off a 600 grit stone. Everything's else ive tried, i have to go to 2k to get hair whittling
wow thats amazing results for a fixed angled systems. i have a victornix chef knife and i cant get anything close to that using stones. can sometimes get shaving sharp if im lucky
What can sometimes be useful if you’re struggling is to set your angle lower using stones and then do your final edge on the sharpening system to get a really nice microbevel that adds some strength and makes it really easy to touch up on the system in the future
good review
Thanks!
Really important to at least point script your videos, have facts and info on hand so you dont have to guess in front of your viewers.
It would be a huge quality improvement for sure! However I’m not at the point in my UA-cam progression that I’m willing to give that extra effort. Unfortunately viewers of my videos must suffer my mediocrity!
That 1.5 inches is a deal breaker. I like to use 2'' brad nails for everything. Including baseboards which a lot of people like to install with heavier 16gauge nails. It Eliminates the need of carrying 2 or 3 different gauge finish nailers , I'm lugging enough tools around as it is.
I agree that is an issue for me as well. I use 15ga for big profiles but 70% I’m using 2” brads. This gun is really for nailing through thinner materials where you’re worried about blow out like nailing door casings to the jamb or wood to wood connections like a face frame.
Just got the whole knife block set for Christmas lucky me!
No kidding that’s awesome! Enjoy!
you're the only one who's ever mentioned how bad the Delica's ergos are, I also sanded mine down not because of the liner edge, but because of the bumps in the handle shape. That first groove is supposed to contain your first two fingers, but how many people have fingers that small? Causes the middle finger to land directly on the first bump, and then your ring finger directly on the second bump when they should be in the grooves. They need to re-design the Delica so that it's para 3 shaped, but keep the thinner blade stock and back lock.
Great video, I was surprised how difficult it was to find a thorough video on what I believe are the top two candidates for most people's edc needs. Thank you! I ended up choosing the pioneer x over the compact because the beefier pry bar and screwdriving capabilities are way more important for me than the scale tools and the corkscrew on the compact. Also was surprised to find out that the pioneer is actually thinner! Appreciate your thoroughness and for actually giving us your honest choice at the end of the video.
Glad to help out! It's always nice to be able to shed light on a tool's strengths and weaknesses. Hope you enjoy the pioneer X as much as I do! 🍻
Did baby hands just say he used the cutters to grab and twist something???
The sides of my leatherman surge Jaws are a bit flat is it normal? Thanks
Outsides are supposed to be flatter and more squared off for sure. The insides should definitely not be flat though.
Picked up the 8" chef and the fillet knife a couple years ago. Was looking for a few other pieces, but cant seem to find anything. Looks like they are discontinued now. Glad I have the chef, but a good utility or paring knife would be far more useful to me over the fillet which i use as a smaller slicing knife (the shape and lack of flex make it a pretty poor fillet)
Thank you for this video!!
I hope you enjoyed it. Brandon is a great guy making amazing products!
Sucks...almost new, miss fires after one nail. Is this because their now made in CHINA...😈 These are too expensive to be so unreliable. No more DeWalts.
I just grabbed my k390 delica to replicate this tag removal. I knew it would cut off easily but…but not as easily as it did. I touched the blade to the label. It just fell off.
Update... The Manix 2 in REX 45 is awesome. The steel kept the factory edge for 4 months with no chips. I touched the blade up on a medium grit Spyderco ceramic and the edge came right back to hair popping sharp. I suspect that you could touch the blade up 3-4 times between sharpening. I own Maxamet, 15v, ZDP189 K390, REX 45 is at the top of the group as an EDC blade steel. REX 121 is on the way. It will be a while till my opinion is formed. Thanks for the video. 😎👍
Americans? So ignorant…. Just so poorly educated it’s truly bewildering. But….. pig ignorant.
So that's why my cheap kitchen knives dull so fast. Just checked, and they all come with X50CrMov15.
Have you seen a Bunka knife in Magnacut?
I believe Meglio did/does make a 170mm kiritsuke which would effectively be a bunka
At 6:05, he REALLY prefers the Delica in a K390 steel. 🙂
💯
14:35 prefer the smaller dril when going into blocks due to blow out with the bigger drills due to the stronger blows.
Very good point. They say to start on rotary only to prevent blow out but then I feel my bit walks and messes up my hole
@@EngineersPerspective701 I have seen it stated that starting with a point chisel indent at the desired site helps prevent wandering. Similar with a smaller pilot hole. There are also inexpensive drill guides (< $10.00) which can help. Although more expensive, 4-flute/4-cutter/cross-cut bits supposedly wander less and provide near-perfectly round holes for critical work. I offer these ideas with no actual experience. I'm trying to weave my way through myriad Milwaukee power tool choices to replace stolen tools with modern upgrades/replacements and I gleaned these tips from watching dozens of videos. Possibly they will be helpful to someone here. Now to pull out of my "analysis paralysis" and get some tools.
@@johnbauman4005 time to pull the trigger brother! Biggest thing the 4 cutter is WAY better when it hits rebar. The rebar cutters are by far best but the 4 cutter is a great all rounder I find. Big reason to have an SDS is just to get those options because all standard shank bits are 2 cutter is a
This is the only folder I've ever used on elk in the field. The lockup is amazing and the blade holds for cutting and skinning. Really an amazing pocket knife. Incredibly grippy even when wet and slick.
How was cleaning it up afterwards? Aside from that aspect I think it’s honestly an amazing field knife. It’s light, strong, grippy like you said, a million steel choices with some being extremely high end and all at prices that rival or are less than common hunting fixed blades from Benchmade or Montana knife
@@EngineersPerspective701 Wasn't too bad at all to clean. Just broke it down, wiped it down, oiled it, put it back together and touched it up. There's really not much to it. Mine was one of the older S30V blades and held up amazing through gutting and skinning. I gave that one away and upgraded to the SPY27. Looking forward to testing that one.
Can I bring a chair and just watch for few hours 😂 I need to see what you’re doing. S110v is special kind of bear for me
Check out your video below, I think this was a subsequent sharpening for me and that was a chore! ua-cam.com/video/SOMVsKX23q0/v-deo.htmlsi=XOUWGzVa-ijNY4qC
Great drill but I prefer the version vithout the percution since the percition function is pretty much useless in any drill regardles of the battery platform or make. I dont quite get why the world doesnt actually ditch the fabrication of such a feature that for 95% of us is useless. The proper way of drilling in hard materials such as engineered concrete, hard brick or lime stone or hard masonery concrete blocks is at it has always been the SDS systems not this LAME percution style function !>!>!
You know I’ve got 2 large and a small SDS plus hammers along with an SDS max. So I understand the value. There is something to be said about using a 5/32” bit in a Hammer drill to quickly install a few tapcons or wall plugs. It keeps a guy from having to stop what they’re doing and go get the SDS. I do see the value case there.
One point that I think is valid is that many people carry a Leatherman Micra or a Swiss Army knife on their keychain that has scissors on it, so that sort of fills in the gap for the lack of scissors on the super tool.
Just bought this kit at HD for $179..both tools, CP 2.0, XP 4.0, and charger. Great little kit. Awesome review👍
Love the M12 drill and impact. Hands down some of my most used tools
There is something about the Super Tool 300 that just works for me. I feel like the extra weight and extra cost of the Surge just isn't worth the features. I have no problem opening the blades of the Super Tool quickly and I can even do it one handed. I own several super tools that go in all of my vehicles, first aid kits, toolboxes, hunting bag, range bag, etc. Not to mention that I also EDC one with a Key Smart Nano Clip that suspends it by the lanyard ring in my pocket.
Great video on this 5 in 1. Can you do a video on the clutch settings on that DCD800? I've seen couple of videos where they claim, the clutch on the DCD800 is useless. Its just go all in full power.
Thank you! I certainly will look at doing one for the DCD800 in the future. I’ll tell you this, the DCD800 clutch is amazing. I’ve used it on tiny little screws for jewelry box hinges with perfect consistency and no strip out. That was on setting 1 or 2 I think it was. Also works for 3-1/8” deck screws on about setting 8. Left on drill it will sink those 1/2” into dry yellow pine. It’s easily my favorite drill I’ve used.
Seki City K390 is a beast!
Absolutely is!
My 'beast' is a 140 Atoma diamond plate, but I've seen some 50-ish grit sharpening system stones, I think they were actually named 'the beast' haha. For a full sharpening I go Atoma 140 -> Naniwa diamond 600 -> Naniwa diamond 1000 -> Naniwa diamond 3000 -> Venev 10-7 micron -> Venev 5-3 micron -> 1 micron diamond juice strop. I rarely do the whole thing but damn does it produce some sharp edges.
The delica is definitely my favorite edc folder
It’s an awesome design. Lots get turned off by the FRN or Seki back lock idiosyncrasies but I love it
@EngineersPerspective701 I've been lucky that out of my 5 delicas, only one had a small amount of lock rock. I'm considering getting a regrind on a k390 delica to really turn it into a laser beam
Ok, I went for 180 rather than 250. I have the 300 for big stuff. 👍
Nice! 180s are perfect for most day to day things
How about using grinding paste?
Just needs to have an oil base that can be solubilized with WD40
I dont know why but my Arc dullify much more easier than tti S30v blade and not get sharpened as S30V Anyone knows the answer? They say Magnacut is much better steel but it's not in my experience
I have not had the same experience myself. Anecdotally I find the Maganacut to wear noticeably better than benchmade S30V. Not 100% sure with your case, but there is a good chance that it is sharpening related. Magnacut is more resistant to lower end sharpening abrasives than S30V. Takes longer and feel more like its skating over the abrasive vs. biting in unless you’re using diamond. Just means it will take a little longer than a person is used to coming from S30V. Make sure you get a good burr on both sides with your first stone and take your time finishing. I bet you’ll see the improvement
@EngineersPerspective701 Thanks for your reply :D I will try to fix the problem, thank you :)
Milwaukee. The tool gets smaller and yet the grips keep getting bigger and bigger..
Yeah, women’s hands can struggle a little handling something with so much girth 😉
DeWalt DCN680N-XJ 18V XR Brushless Brad Nailer Can I use 18V 4.0 AH battery?
Sure can!
