- Ladies and gentlemen, the Francis Bacon is BACK!
Next video will be a typical webcam recorded one but using the same mics so the audio will be just as good.
Probably going to do two uploads of the piano per month.
This is a James P. Johnson piano roll recorded in 1921 of Johnson's own composition Carolina Shout. It is one of the most important stride piano compositions of the 20th century however it is tarnished by a late 50s cut which is missing notes... Someday I'll recut the original.

Maravilhoso!!!!!🇧🇷
:D
It looks like it plays rolls well, that’s for sure!
Indeed! The old girl is tried and true, 5 years of stress and pain and it still doesn't have a working e flat above middle c xD
Excellent piece of music.
It really is, too bad this is the cut of the roll missing notes.
👏🏻Excellent👏🏻
Thank you!

🤜🏻🤛🏻You Are Welcome, Brother!🤜🏻🤛🏻
What a great view of that piano! Does it have a Standard player action? From what i can tell, it looks very similar to mine. Fun bouncy tune for sure.
Yup, standard single valve though, those were introduce sometime in the 1920s. Your Smith & Barnes has the double valve action that was prevalent in pianos prior to 1920 (and generally will repeat just a little better).
Skgwgaietto's piano is pretty much identical to mine in every respect EXCEPT for the fact it's got Autopiano written on it and that the cabinet's wood is different. Even the pedals are exactly the same casting! :D
Also HD video from my camcorder with mics plugged straight in! I wasn't expecting the sound to be this good but it sure surprised me!
This classic is sounding great on your piano! Honestly I didn't notice the missing notes although I wasn't paying very close attention. You could always cut them in yourself although it's tedious.
Yeah, I need to recut the roll using the reconstructed master of the original that I have sitting around on my hard drive.
@@PiotrBarcz any progress on the perforator?
@@rowanbelt3612 I'm hopefully getting my machine soon. Spencer fixed an issue where chad was getting stuck to the drive wheel making the paper slip and holes cut all sloppy.
@@PiotrBarcz That's great. Please let me know when you do get it. I'd love to write some midi files to send to you and have cut as rolls.
Nice, is this the same one from your first videos?
Yup, been the same piano for 5 years :D
Nice
